Blind Song Changing in iPhone/iPod touch request

I like the way Apple creates its products. Each modern Apple gadget is simple, qualitative, reliable and complete, polished. But sometimes I got a feeling that when Apple engineers find a good way to solve a task they allowing themselves to forget that this way is not the only possible one. Maybe I wrong. I hope so.
Right now I’m talking about one exact feature – a blind song changing. This feature is usable when you prefer to keep your iPod in pocket. And to keep different music in your iPod. You’re tired of rock and right now you want a jazz song, just one.
As far as I know currently there are two ways to change songs in iPod touch or iPhone (if you are not using external controller). A first one – Shaking feature, which you will mostly like to disable if you’re keeping your iPod touch in trouser’s pocket because Shaking will sometimes occasionally switch a song. A second one – thru the touch interface. Which is almost impossible if you’re not looking at the display.
I would be more than happy to see a blind song changing feature in next iOS update. And I have my personal idea how it may be fulfilled. In “Setting” -> “General” there are options to determine iPod behavior when you press a Home (physical) button. Below “Home”, “Search” and “IPod” options Apple could place more options for iPod behavior while device is LOCKED. And there they could place an option to switch a song. It may react to double press. Or to long press. Or behavior by any different way Apple engineers would find possible. Also that’s how they would be able to keep things as they are for those users who don’t need to change anything.
I would like Apple engineers to see this topic. To know about the feature I and other consumers with demands similar to me need. Probably if this topic will get enough responses, Apple will fulfill a request and make iPod touch and iPhone even better. So I ask anyone who understand my position to answer anything to keep the topic up.
Thank you.
Regards, Ilya

Have you investigated using Voice Control to control music playback? Voice commands can be used rather than touching the screen. This feature is available on the iPod Touch 3 Gen and 4 Gen (current).

  • IPhone / iPod Touch Remote to change Photo Rating?

Is it possible to change a photo's rating in iPhoto using an iPhone / iPod Touch with Apple's "Remote" App (or alternately the little white remote included with an iMac)?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
I've never found a way with the little remote included with the iMac, but then again, when you use that you're not in iPhoto, but in a programme called Front Row.

  • The divice for changing the an ipod touch to an iphone?

Hi,everybody, how do you know the divice for changing the an ipod touch to an iphone? I have an ipod touch now. I really want to own an iphone, however, the price were far beyond my ways. I hear that there is a device can change the ipod to an iphone, how is it?Anybody can tell me?
    Thanks so much!

I do a LOT of calling on mine. Simply install the Skype app and get a SkypeOut account and SkypeIn number. They run about $60.00 a year for both. You get unlimited US & CA long distance, plus voicemail. For texting, I bought and use the TextFree app. You will need a wifi connection though for all this to work, but there are public wifi hot spots all over. I've even found open networks driving down the street. I just pull over, logon and make my call.

  • Apple Unveils All-New iTunes U App for iPad, iPhone & iPod touch

A colleague just told me about this announcement from Apple -
Apple Unveils All-New iTunes U App for iPad, iPhone & iPod touch -
    http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2012/01/19Apple-Unveils-All-New-iTunes-U-App-for -iPad-iPhone-iPod-touch.html
Do any fellow iTunes U administrators know anything about this? How is existing content presented in the new app? Would we need to change anything? How do we access / make available the new features?
The new features sound fantastic but it would have been nice to have some warning. I appreciate that Apple has to keep specific details about developments confidential but it's slightly disconcerting that iTunes U administrators were not forewarned about this new development and that there has been no mention of it on this forum. Also - and at the risk of sounding like a broken record - it really would be helpful for iTunes U administrators to have a private forum (perhaps an add-on to Public Site Manager) where we could discuss issues and share ideas and best practice etc.

    Greetings Tom;
I watched the Apple's Keynote presentation and I'm amazed!  I'm really excited about the possibilities this opens up for educators.  I, like you am still processing all of the information and sorting out the possibilities.
Did you get the email about the Webcast on Wednesday the 25th at 10:00 AM PT that's going to cover the new iTunes U Corse Manager and how to publish through iTunes U Site Manager?  Hopefully this is available to you in the UK.  We'll keep in touch.  All the best...

  • Problem getting songs back from lost Ipod Touch onto computer?

I lost my Ipod Touch a month ago and I download my songs of the Touch's Itune store, not on my computer. Now I lost quite a few songs and since I did not sync the new songs onto my computer, its not on my computer. Is there anyway I can get back the songs I bought through the Itunes of Ipod Touch back onto my computer's Itunes? I hope you can understand what I'm saying, its a bit confusing.
    Thanks

Sorry, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items other than iPhone/iPod touch applications. It's your responsibility to make backup copies in case something goes wrong with your system or your iPod is lost, as unfortunately it apparently did in your case, and you lose all your purchases. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places. If your hard drive was erased and you don't have a backup of your purchased items, you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase your tracks.
You can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis. But don't count on it.

  • MobileMe Find My iPhone now accessible from an iPhone/iPod Touch

As of last week, you can log in to me.com via Safari and find a link to use Find My iPhone from a friend's iPhone/iPod touch if you need to locate your lost iPhone/iPod on a map, display a message, play a sound, or remotely lock or wipe it.

  • ITunes U on iPhone/iPod touch workaround

I was curious if anyone had (or is working on) a solution to bring iTunes U content to Apple's mobile devices?
I created a simple workaround by creating static pages (using iphone friendly css) and pointing the links to the subscribe (/Feed/) URLs in our ITu site. The built-in .Mac feed reader then parses out the rss content in a way that is friendly to the device. Not a fancy solution, but it works.
To see it in action point Safari (on your iPhone/iPod touch) to itunes.bowdoin.edu.

I think things will become a lot clearer when an iPhone SDK hits the streets. Some people have messed with the iPhone toolchains you can find if you look hard ... with jail-break enabled iPhones. I would sooner wait for a definitive SDK.
We know very little of how Safari and iTunes work on the phone. At least "officially". Basically, if the phone can recognize the iTunes itmss redirect, then there is some hope. Certainly, a request client (something that would bypass Safari to get the redirect) is do-able ... in theory. The main problem, as I see it, is that the iPhone does not know how to handle the itmss redirect.

  • Lost songs purchased from the iPod Touch

I purchaced some songs from the iTunes store on my iPod touch. They were added to the 'purchased' playlist, but after a while, they deleted themselves. How do I recover those songs, if at all possible?

    Hi Stylezz,
Well, for me it looks like a serious bug going on with Wi-Fi iTunes Music Store (iPhone/iPod Touch), once I've heard many users claiming they have similar problems and I've actually experience the same problem once. The best you can do, is to contact iTunes Customer and report your problem, by using [this form|http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/browser>. However, I would recommend you to transfer as soon as possible the content you buy from there, every time you use it.
    Hope this helps!

    Yes.
You can authorize up to 5 computers to play itunes music ( pre-itunes plus).  There is no limit on itunes plus ( all itunes music for the past several years) and imported music.
You can sync as many ipods/ipads/iphones as you like to each of your computers.

  • How many Multi-Touch points can an iPhone/iPod touch have at the same time?

How many Multi-Touch points can an iPhone/iPod touch/iPad have at the same time?
I am curious as IIRC (but forgot where the article is on the Internet),
if a touch surface is wanted to be able to detect more than 1 touch point at the same time,
then that touch surface needs adding 1 more conductive(?) layer.
    (e.g. 2 points -> 2 layers, and so on)
So I wonder how many these layers are on the iPhone / iPod touch / iPad or even the trackpad on every MacBook (Pro).
    (correct me if I'm wrong)
    Just curious, thanks in advance!

I believe it can only support 2. This article explains how the touch screen works but doesn't explicitly say how many points is supports.

  • Is it possible to rate songs directly on the iPod touch?

Is it possible to rate songs directly on the iPod touch?
Also, is it possible to rate videos directly on the iTouch?

    Hi jackhowson,
As Micromen said, you can rate songs directly on your iPod Touch.
However with videos, currently you can't! You'll have to rate them on your computer. If you would like to ask Apple this feature, click [Name|http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html] and fill out the form.

  • We have several iphones, ipod touches, ipad and mac's if we all install icloud under the same apple account will they all sync together...we don't want that to happen!!

We have several iphones, ipod touches, ipad and mac's if we all install icloud under the same apple account will they all sync together...we don't want that to happen!!

If any of you are like me, I had one single AppleID under MobileMe.  Under my AppleID I had two additional Email addresses, one for my wife and one for her Mother.  Each used their individual email accounts on their login on the home Mac and on their individual Iphones.
In order for them to not lose their email acounts when mobileMe goes away and/or you move your appleID acount from MobileMe to iCloud, you simply need to beaware of the folowing.  Have each person with an email address under your AppleID MobileMe go to www.me.com; enter their email account and password in the corresponding fields.  However, don't press the login button. Instead press the sentence under the login fields that says something to the effect of "do you want to move/migrate to iCloud.  Follow the prompts from there.
In essence what Apple has done--albeit not communicated anywhere--is that they automatically created AppleIDs for each of those additonal email addresses you have/had under MobileMe.  Therefore, use that email and password after moving from MobileMe to iCloud and your good to go.

Thanks for suggestion. I am puzzles though. Qt is such a powerful medium. Apple has enabled some of the text tracks within QT to play closed captions on iTunes / iPhone. That is great. How / when do the other tracks get enabled so we can use the full power?
