Blind spot in Maps Luxembourg on N85??

I have just got me a new licence by Navigation on my N85. I have also downloaded the map data for the greater part of Europe to my phone. I have the most recent version of maps (3.01 09wk44 b01). At home in The Netherlands it works fine.
When trying to add favourites, I discovered a recangular blind spot in Maps. The top-left hand side of the blind spot is around Liège (Belgium) and the bottom-right hand side is around Saarbrücken (Germany). This covers all of Luxembourg and parts of Belgium, France and Germany. Within this area no streets or towns can be found. When moving the "cursor" over the screen in this area, the maps program shuts down completely.
I have already tried to re-install the Luxembourg map via OVI suite, without any success (all I get is "you already have this map on your device").
What can be the problem here?

i'm sure nobody promised you, when you bought the phone, it would take free navigation...

  • Blind Spot since 7.0.2?

    Since I've updated my iPhone 4 from 7.0 to 7.0.2 I have massive problems with the display/touch. There is a blind spot in the lower middle around the r-t-z-f-g-h- Keys and above! I can, sometimes, hit the key when i come from the e sliding to r or from u/z sliding to the t. That shows me that the display seems to work.
    A app placed there cannot be started but pressing long starts the icon-wobbling!
    I'm not able to reset my iphone because I hat to switch-off the search-funktion in icloud. This needs a password which I'm not able to enter because of the blind spot!
    What could I do? Restart the iPhone in a special way? How?

  • Safety spots on Maps 3.03?

    Hello,
    I have a Nokia 5530XM with Ovi Maps 3.03. Recently I bought an external bluetooth GPS receiver. I have already tested Ovi Maps navigation and it works fine. I'm considering using Ovi Maps instead of other GPS software.
    But, I didn't see on Ovi Maps 3.03 the option to include safety spots (or safety cameras, or speed cameras). Is that possible? If it isn't, it's a shame, because almost every other navigation software have this option.
    Despite of Ovi Maps being free, the lack of safety cameras warning can lead to speed tickets, which are by far more expensive then buying an alternate navigation software...there are many out there: Sygic, NDrive, etc.
    Best regards,

    bearshare: But, I didn't see on Ovi Maps 3.03 the option to include safety spots (or safety cameras, or speed cameras).
    In Finland OM 3.03 warns on speed cameras. I don't know, if that applies to all countries, probably not.

  • Maps problem on n85

    Hi. Due to constant disappearance of my phone memory, I did a hard reset on my handset but I cannot get my nokia maps working anymore. Every time I try to open it I get a mesage saying that it "failed to open app. Please download the latest version from nokia.com/maps" I have attempted to do this but it never works. Something vital has obviously been wiped from the handset, but what? Can anyone help?

    It happened to me.
    I installed on my PC the program   Setup_Nokia_Maps_Updater_1.0.12. (you can download it from a Nokia support webpage). Then I run it with my phone connected to my PC, and it helped me to get back Nokia Maps.
    I hope this can help you.
    Regards

  • Spotlight's blind spot: Spotlight comments on Disk Utility disk images.

    Has anyone but me noticed that Spotlight goes blind to Spotlight Comments once the files are moved into a 256-bit encrypted read/write disck image created with Disk Utility? I don't have iPhoto, and I keep photos in too many categories for that anyway. I keep all my keywords in Spotlight comments in Finder attached to each file and create "albums" on the fly with Spotlight searches.
    But as soon as I moved the whole mess into a read/write 256-bit encrypted disk image created with "from folder" in Disk Utility....I can still see all the comments in Finder GetInfo, but Spotlight can't. I even tried adding comments to the search field list and it still sees nothing, not even when the disk image is mounted and visible in my Finder window sidebar.
    What am I missing?

    Yes, I search while the drive is mounted.
    Yes, I can drag it into and out of Spotlight's Privacy Pref's Pane. While it's in there the entire drive obviously disappears from Spotlight's searches. Once I - it from the exclude list it returns to seeing folder names only, but still finds nothing based on Spotlight Comments.
    I'm starting to think Apple left that bit of code out. Anybody know how to put it back in?

  • Where is the free maps on my N85 ?

    where is the free navigation N85 ? when ?

    Free navigation is currently available for some of the latest and current models and versions for the E71 and E66 were announced today.
    The N85 is not supported at the moment and Nokia have not announced if and when it will be supported.

    would sm1 pls tell me why nokia faild 2find a map update n other software 4 n85,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    The easiest way to obtain the most recent version of maps for your N85 would be to install Nokia Suite and use the included map loader.

  • Maps goes online even though it's set not to

    I noticed that whenever I open Maps on my N85, a data transfer occurs, which can be seen from the 3G icon turning into the 3.5G icon with the arrows underneath, as well as from the "Mobile Internet" Log entry created afterwards.
    Why this is strange is because I have set Maps to never go online, AND I have unchecked the A-GPS method of positioning from Settings|Positioning|Positioning methods. I would have thought, therefore, that Maps will not go online when it starts - which it does. This is particularly inconvenient because I am currently abroad (i.e. mobile data transfers are expensive) and using the GPS quite often; the data transfers have summed up to a few hundred KB already, and I'd rather they did not continue this way. Can anyone help?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    In addition to unchecking AGPS in positioning methods, you have to go to Positioning Server -> Positioning Server Use and set that to "Disabled" (this is where you normally specify what AGPS server to use).  Otherwise it will, for some strange reason, still try to use the AGPS server.
    See there's this thing called "software testing" that Nokia doesn't really believe in.

    Hi leobox1,
    The latest PC suite version is 7.0.8.2. So if you are not using this, then uninstall the current PC suite and download the latest version.
    Next, go to http://europe.nokia.com/A4984199, to update both the Nokia Maps in your N85 to version 2 and also download the latest Nokia Maps Loader version 2.0.2
    Note: If your N85 is brand new, you must use your N85 GPS application at least once before you can use Nokia Map Loader.
    Hope all these helps........

  • Get image map visible to user without mouseover

    If I insert an image map, the user sees a hot spot image map when the mouse is over the image map. I want the user to see where there are hot spots before they move the mouse.
    Is there a way to get this functionality without having another image overlay the image map? Perhaps I can use something other than image maps?

    Use a graphics tool such as RoboScreen Capture to add a coloured border around the area.

  • How to I get a mirror image of a 3D extrude and Bevel image?

    I created a ribbon using the extrude and bevel effect and then mapping it with a custom symbol. I copied the image and then tried to get a matching image on the flipside to mirror it but cannot seem to figure it out. Is there a way to somehow flip the orientation of the image? I tried using transform and then reflect and it does not do anything. I tried to do it manually in mapping and flipping the box upside down and in reverse but it just doesn't seem result in the a reflective image. Any ideas on this? Attached are the two images I am trying to get to reflect each other. Thanks

    It works so it is you who have perhaps a blind spot you have to select reflect X and move the object horizontally just look at my settings and the video.
    If you do not see a difference than what I have done and what Scott has suggested than what you actually did then he problem is something entirely different.
    Here is a video you can go wrong if you follow it.

  • Could be a fix for Tomcat 6 issue

    Getting Eclipse 3.2, Tomcat 6.0 and JSF 1.2 playing together nicely is a task that is certainly not for the faint of heart. Tomcat 6 seems to have issues at the moment but I'm loathed to push too much of the blame on to it as generally Tomcat has been rock solid. The big problem is really with Eclipse. The WTP (Web Tools Platform) is not as good as it could be and doesn't currently support Tomcat 6. Fortunately there is a work around to fool Eclipse into thinking that Tomcat 6 is really an install of Tomcat 5.5.
    Running Tomcat 6 Under Eclipse
    Find the file org.eclipse.jst.server.tomcat.core_1.0.103.v20060904b.jar which lives in the plugins directory under the Eclipse install directory. Copy the file somewhere else and unzip it. Modify the file verifyInstall.properties so that the verify55install line looks like this:
    verify55install=bin/bootstrap.jar,conf,webapps
    Re-zip the files to create a jar with the same name as the one that you unzipped. Place the tweeked jar back in the Eclipse plugin directory and restart Eclipse. Configure a new Tomcat 5.5 instance but point it at a Tomcat 6 install.
    Installing JSF 1.2
    There is currently no myFaces version of JSF 1.2 so you are stuck with the RI from sun. Grab this and place it in the WEB-INF/lib directory. Update the web.xml file of you applicaiton so that it loads the faces servlet:
    <!-- Faces Servlet -->
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet</servlet-class>
    <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
    </servlet>
    <!-- Faces Servlet Mapping -->
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>*.jsf</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    When you come to fire up the applicaiton you may well receive this error message:
    java.lang.IllegalStateException: Application was not properly initialized at startup, could not find Factory:
    javax.faces.context.FacesContextFactory
    This is apparently due to some hot deploy issues with Tomcat. It would seem that Tomcat has a bit of a blind spot for configuring listener specified inside TLDs. Quite why sun release a RI that shows this bug up in the most widely used container is beyond me. The solution to this issue is to add the following listener to the web.xml file:
         <listener>
    <listener-class>
    com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener
    </listener-class>
    </listener>
    <!-- Listener implementation to handle web application lifecycle
    events -->
    <listener>
    <listener-class>
    com.sun.faces.application.WebappLifecycleListener
    </listener-class>
    </listener>
    That should be all that's required. I've noticed that Tomcat 6 seems to behave somewhat strangely under Eclipse. Hot deploy of JSPs doesn't work from Eclipse and Eclipse is unable to detect that Tomcat 6 is running - it always shows Tomcat 6 as starting. Some of the rendering of pages also seems to be strange but that could well be changes that I haven't yet discovered.

    10.4.3 is certainly not a fix - see the airport/RAM thread. Within 10 minutes of installing the update, the bug happened for the first time at work (had happened many times at home). I doubt calling tech support would add anything - there's no way they don't know about the issue. There's a cmd line option in a link in that other thread where you can tell tiger to only use 1024 MB, which will fix the problem without having to physically remove RAM, but keeping it at 1 GB is pretty much the only option. It's a major bummer to say the least.

  • Can I use a Time Capsule to extend my wireless network.

    Hi, I have just bought a 3TB time capsule as my old (flat style) 500GB TC is reaching full capacity. The old style TC will then be surplus to requirements as a data storage unit, at least for myself, though it might be useful for my son to use as his Time Capsule.
    Ideally, as we have a wireless 'blind spot' out in the rear extension of the house, it would be useful to use the unit to extend my wireless network (and also use it as a separate TC if possible). Is this possible? If it is how would I go about it?
    Hope someone can help . . . .
    Cheers
    John

    Is it possible for you to consider connecting the Time Capsules together using a wired Ethernet connection?
    Here is what Apple has to say in their support document about extending:
    Adding Wi-Fi base stations when it is unnecessary can reduce Wi-Fi throughput because the Wi-Fi network will require more data management overhead. The network configuration also becomes more complex. In the case of a wirelessly extended network, throughput may be reduced to less than 60 percent of that of a single device. The general rule is to keep the Wi-Fi network as simple as possible. You can accomplish this by using the minimum number of Wi-Fi base stations required to service the physical network area and by using Ethernet wherever possible.
    Extending the range of your Wi-Fi network by connecting Wi-Fi base stations together using Ethernet is always the best option, and will provide the best throughput.

  • Airport Roaming Network and Internet Sharing

    Dear Esteemed Experts (Tesserax et. al):
    Thanks to you, I have successfully set up TC and 2 Airport Express N in a roaming network (plugged to Ethernet but using the same name and protocol) using 802.11n (b/g compatible) radio mode. It's working well, except a few blind spots to cover.
    If I want to add an old b/g-only Airport Express or Netgear Access Point (WG602) to this roaming network (plugging them into Ethernet outlet), will this slow down the N network?
    Also, can I turn on Internet Sharing on my iMac (with N capability) and make it to join the Roaming Netowrk? If so, can I manage it through Airport Utility?
    Thanks
    Aghoo

    If I want to add an old b/g-only Airport Express or Netgear Access Point (WG602) to this roaming network (plugging them into Ethernet outlet), will this slow down the N network?
    If it is connected via Ethernet it will have no direct affect on the performance of the 802.11n network.
    lso, can I turn on Internet Sharing on my iMac (with N capability) and make it to join the Roaming Netowrk?
    Internet sharing has nothing to do with joining a wireless network. If you want your iMac to join the wireless network, just go to the AirPort menu and select the network that you want to join.
    If so, can I manage it through Airport Utility?
    AirPort Utility is only for managing Apple's base stations.

  • Importing a project back from garage band

    I didn´t find a way how to bring a project back to iMovie after making some music and effects to it in garageband.
    There is "export to iDVD", "export to QuickTime", but no export to iMovie.
    I suppose the solution is something very obvious just behind my blind spot.

    Thanks for answer.
    If it had to be done in a tricky way, I probably export the music to iTunes, and then import the music from iTunes to iMovie. So that I can make changes to montage.
    As far as I know, by exporting to QT the clips are merged to one long clip?
