Blinking cursor in text box by hitting tab

I have an input text on stage. Normally when we want to type
something in the text box we have to click the mouse in the text
box. If I want the blinking cursor to appear in text box by just
hitting tab button on keyboard, could it be done ?
How ?
Need help

Joel, I am not sure what you mean by starting a new thread. The new material I placed in a new text box on a new page is less than a page wide and does not fill the text box.
I file > placed the text and it came from Word. I did not copy and paste it.
I do use CS4.
There are no character styles or paragraph styles applied to the text. This is something I will add as the pieces are placed.
The button to which you refer is in the upper right hand corner of my computer and the text to which you referred -- no break is unchecked.
This is not the first time I have had trouble with text disappearing. I usually manage to make an end run and correct the problem in Word and then place the text again. However, whatever method I use is time-consuming, tedious and frustrating.
No matter where I use the enter key in that text frame, text below the enter disappears and the out port then shows a plus (even though the text box is NOT full). If I click on the plus and add the text to a different text box, I get the text that disappeared. But that is not the result I want. If I try to take the text from the out port and put it back into the text box, where it belongs then I get text linked to text--a mess.
There must be a cure for this problem.

Click on each field and the choose Properties from either File menu (or if on Mac hold dow mouse button until context menu appears choose properties)
    go to Font
choose desired size and type font, you can choose to make this the default.
    Do this with each field.
Or if you have a lot of fields:
while one is selected select all of them
then go to fonts in properties
change Font and size and make default.

  • Cp 6 no blinking cursor in text entry box

    Howdy,
Upon slide enter, when a slide has a text entry box, there would be a blinking cursor in the TEB to help alert the user that they will need to type something.
Howerver, in Cp 6 I'm not seeing a blinking/flashing cursor in a TEB like I did with Cp5.5 and b4.
Is this something I have to enable? Why is it so inconsistent?
    Thanks,
    k

This is a known bug, focus loss for TEB's. I heard that the team is working on it and hope really they release a patch quickly,

  • New tabs open Google homepage correctly but with cursor in text box rather than search box.

I have Google as my home page. When I open Firefox 7.0.1 the Google home page opens correctly with the cursor in the search box. I have set new tabs to also open in the home page. New tabs do open in Google but with the cursor in the text box rather than the search box. As I recall, this didn't happen before upgrading to 7.0.1 (actually, I think that I was using a tab configuration plug-in that may have been nuked in the Firefox update). This is driving me crazy, is there a solution for 7.0.1?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Text Box in DOCUMENTS Tab when creating a Contract

    Hi
I'm using SRM 5 , when creating a Contract(GOA), the minute you select the Documents Tab , the text box for internal note is already open, and it fills up the top portion of the screen. This does not allow you to save( or to put your contract either on hold, or to Release.) You cannot select any of those options as the text box covers the entire top area, the only option available is to click on "back to inital screen".
When you select this option you loose all your work, and it takes you to the initial screen.
I cannot find the note which has to be applied , please assist.
    Thanks

  • No cursor in text box

    Hi,
I can create a text box in InDesign CS4, but cannot get a cursor inside it to type text. This just happened because it worked before. It seems that InDesign works sometimes and at other times the same procedures do not work. I have windows XP Svc Pack2 and Indesign CS4 6.0.5. Thank you.

In that case, try Remove minor corruption by exporting
And check to see if the frame is locked, though at the moment I can't think of a way to lock frames by default.

  • Text box - I hit return and it exits rather than starts a new line or point

Ok so I'm a very basic user of indesign, and we are still on CS2, but can someone please help with this.   I start a new text box, and type - the wrapping works, but if I want to start a new line or do a bullet list , hitting the return key exits the text box, rather than starting a new line.  I cant find anywhere to alter the formatting.  Have tried resetting to basic paragraph format.

This is more common on laptops than I would have imagined. If you like having the numlock on, you'll probably want to remap the numpad enter.
Turn on numlock, then Edit > Keyboard shortcuts... Set the product areae at the top to Type Menu and scroll down to Insert Break Character: Paragraph return. Click in the new shortcut field and hit the numpad enter key, then change the context field from default to text. You'll have to save this as a new custom set and select it for use. Both enter keys should now work with numlock on or off to insert a paragraph break. You can creat a new shortcut for the column break if you like at the same time.

  • Labview 8: continuous cursor in text box

    Hi,
I have made a basic instant messenger program with a text box that sends a message via a com port. When I press enter a "Send" button is operated and the string is sent, I then clear the text box. However to type another message the user has to click the text box again to bring up a cursor to type the next message. I would like the cursor to stay in the text box so the user doesn't need to click on the text box to type something else. I would also like to do this at the beginning of the program as well.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

  • Placing Text boxes

Placeing Text boxes on a document.  How do I place a text box on a document so I can print it out and it will be ledgable.
I converted a map to word and could not place a text box.  I also placed a sticky note on a PDF and could not enlarge it enough to read.
    Help!

    Hello Harrie Potter,
I have a couple of suggestions.
First, if you want to use sticky notes, you can enlarge the text in the note.
To do so, you open the pop-up and type in the text. Select the text. Hit CTRL-E to open the Pop-up Text Properties toolbar.
You can change the font and size of the pop-up's text via the properties toolbar.
Second, Acrobat has a Text Box annotation.
In the Comment tools, its icon looks like a box with a T in it.
You may select the tool and draw the text box size.
Then type the text you want in it.
Similar to the above, select the text in the text box and hit CTRL-E to open the Text Properties toolbar.
You can use the Text Properties toolbar to set the font, size, color, etc.
In either case, once you have the text properties set up the way you want, you may set them as default.
Click out of the annotation (text box or sticky note) to deselect the text.
Click once on the annotation to select the whole annotation, right-click and select "Make current properties default".
    Regards,
    Charlene

You are absolutely right.  Thought Enter meant Enter.  I was wrong.  Thank you for the help.

Other browsers do not have this problem. When will Apple fix this problem?

  • The cursor jumps to wherever the pointer is while typing in text boxes.

While typing in a text box, the blinking cursor will jump to wherever the mouse pointer is and begin inserting the typing there. It happens both on external mouse and on touchpad. It's only on Firefox, I've tested IE and it's fine. Sometimes it is the ' that causes it (I read up on the "jump to find" bug), but it seems to be mostly the spacebar that sets it off. I've had it happen on various websites, blogs, emails, internal site mailboxes, seems to be everywhere. Sometimes a FF restart helps, sometimes a computer restart helps, sometimes nothing helps.
I've also had site pages jump "back" in the middle of typing in a text box as well. At first I thought I was hitting the touchpad while typing by mistake but it happens with the external mouse as well. I have the touchpad disabled while ext. mouse is used.
FF is Version 3.6.10, and I'm on laptop.
Plleeeeezzze don't tell me I have to go back to IE. ewwwww

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]<br />
    <br />
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Pressing enter to tab to next text box in a tabular form

    Hi all.
Does anyone know how to configure an Apex tabular report so when a user hits enter, it will tab to the next text box?
    Thanks

I've been looking at this for a long time. My conclusion: because the BROWSER defines what actions the keys take, you either have to re-map the keys (a scary proposition) or just train your users to get used to that feature of web applications. A normal application has the capability to re-map the keys; web apps aren't quite as flexible in this regard.

  • Where is the blinking cursor on reply input box?

When I click on reply to answer a post, I get the expected input box.   No matter how long I wait, I do not get the blinking cursor that allows me to type in my answer.  I have to use my mouse to click in the input box so I can begin my typing.
Have other people observed this?  I am using TenFourFox on Tiger.
    Robert

I did find this way of getting the cursor in the text field:
    click on html
    type a letter
    click on use regular editor
    cursor appears in text field
delete letter.  You need some text for the cursor to be placed.
While not typical protocol, my understanding is that Apple is watching this forum for comments on the new discussion groups.
    > The same thing happens pretty much anywhere javascript is used to reveal a text field.
    Tuttle, I cannot resist, sorry.
I do not care whether they use javascript or tiddlywinks.  It's up to the developer to use the appropriate tools to produce a  workable GUI.
    >(Have you ever tried to post a comment to the New York Times or Washington Post websites, e.g.?)
I can't help it if they employee poor programmers.  If I recall correctly from my JavaScript programming days, there is a control you use to place the cursor in a field.  I used the beta version of Yahoo mail just now, it puts the cursor in the input box when I did a reply to a message.
The forum software seems to be running faster today.  This is very good news if it continues.
