Blinking Green Light

Occasionally after an update, when I turn my iPod on, the power light on the front will display the usual green. However, there will be a pop in the headphones, and the green light will just blink as if it keeps turning on and off. This prevents me from listening to music. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Hello Everyone.
Thank you for your posts.
While your tablet is asleep, a notification LED light ( the Green Light) will blink when certain things happen that you may want to know about immediately when they occur.
Any of the following events can cause the LED light to blink:
• Calendar: A scheduled time or date has been reached.
• Desk Clock: A scheduled alarm time has been reached.
(This will be accompanied by an alarm sound)
• Email: A new email is received.
• Social Feed Reader: A new post has been made.
• Gmail: A new email is received.
• Talk (Google Talk): A new message is received.
Most of these events can be changed by accessing the settings
Others such as the social feed reader would require you to remove that app from being monitored to prevent notification as that is one of its key functions.
This will not affect the facebook or twitter app, just the social feed app for notification from both services.

  • Desktop won't start; blinking green light

I have a Compaq Presario SR 1318NX which will not start!?  There is a blinking green light on the back of the power supply; which is normally solid green when 110V AC is plugged into it.  I have tried the trick of holding the start button while plugging in the power cord ..... no help.  I have also opened the case and carefully removed every power cord to all the internal devices ................ the light turns solid green only when I pull the main power from the motherboard!
Do I need to replace the motherboard?  The troubleshooting site on hp.com would indicate the power supply is OK if the light is solid green.
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Lou

My wife's computer has been having the same problem several times. One solution I found that worked before was to unplug the motherboard power cable and the PSU power cable from the back of the PC and then connect the power cable and connect the motherboard power cable while holding down the power button. Scary, to say the least, but it worked, until one day I accidentally flipped the wrong breaker and then spend two hours trying the same solution with no luck and Googling again. And here is what I found. This is the simplest yet crudest solution. It’s easy and non invasive and it doesn’t matter how tech savvy you are. Take a blow dryer and turn it on to blow air at the back of the power supply for a couple minutes. When you see the light turn green you’re all set. It's worked for me after it worked for a hundred others, maybe more. See the testimonials on this site: http://talk19.wordpress.com/2008/01/13/hp-m7088d-power-supply-led-blinks-green/. It’s a shame that nothing like this appears on any HP site. So don’t waste your money on a new MoBo or PSU. All you need is your wife’s hair drier.

  • Background contrast on Apps screen & blinking green light

Newbie here.  The Apps screen had a blue background but is now white and I am unable to read the titles of the icons at the bottom of the screen.  How can I get rid of the white background and return to the blue contrast?
Additionally the green indicator light is blinking non-stop.  Why is it doing that now when it never did before?
    Thanks!

Greetings, and welcome to the forums!
Not sure about an answer to your 1st question, but the blinking green light simply means that your phone is connected to your carrier. I use it just so I know at a glance whether my phone's actually on or not. To disable that blinker, go to Options > Screen/Keyboard > LED Coverage Indicator and change the setting to "off".

  • Device not recognized by Windows or iTunes - Blinking green light

When I try to connect my iPod shuffle to my computer (Windows XP), it's not recognized by Windows or iTunes. (i.e. device does not appear in Windows explorer or iTunes) While in the USB port, the Shuffle's green light blinks incessantly. My wife uses an iPod on this machine (under separate user name) and has no problems.
I've tried updating software (iTunes, iPod), restarting my computer and resetting the iPod to no avail. My machine is not on a network. The USB port(s) work fine as I can use my memory stick (no USB cable) with no problems. I've tried connecting my Shuffle under my user name as well as my wife's. Same problem.
Also, I had my Shuffle setup on an old computer (PC, Windows 2000) and it still works fine plugging into that. (I'm getting rid of it soon, hence why I'm discovering these new problems).
Please advise. Since my Shuffle is over a year old, I am not eligible for online chat or phone support without paying for an Apple Support agreement.
I know there's another thread with the same issue that was not resolved on the discussion board.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Recently I used my ipod at work all night, just like normal. After work on the way home, like normal, I plugged it into my aux port on my car's head unit, and plugged it into power. 10 minutes later, in the middle of going over Ortgea Highway(hiway 74 between Orange and Riverside Counties), it just suddenly stopped working. When I plug it into any of my computers at home, nothing happens, it is not recognized or seen. When I plug it into power, it displays either a "sad ipod icon" or a battery with exclamation mark(!) icon. I have brand new power adapters both for the car and home, plus brand new usb cables, thinking that would help. It hasn't and now, since I opened those packages, I am out that $$ and ******. Since I received this unit as payment for electrical services rendered, I have no idea how old it is. Does anyone have any ideas? ([email protected])

  • Blinking Green Light! Mount & Unmount on Intel Mac mini

    Hi all.
This is my sister's iPod shuffle, lat night she plugged into her new Intel Mac mini Core Duo, and the shuffle mounts, everything appears to be in working order, she said today she still listened to it.
Just now she accidently plugged the shuffle while in our Dad's account (on the Mac mini as well), then seemed like "all well broke loose", this is what she told me, first iTunes was not responsive, colour wheel, so she restarted but only arrived at the blank desktop and only the shadow of the Top Menu Bar
I reset the iPod shuffle, was successful in plugging it in, quit iTunes (all in her own account now) and update the shuffle software.
When inside iTunes, once I started Autofill, it suddenly unmounted by itself, followed by the red exclamation error message when you accidently remove an external device unproperly.
When I tried plugging in again, it refuses to mount. Just blinking Green, or pull out again, blinking Yellow.
Now I plug it into my own iMac G5, and it mounts and is blinking slowly with yellow light, what seems to be normal charging.
Has this something got to do with the Intel Mac??
    Thanks and cheers

This probably has nothing to do with the Mini, but everything to do with the Shuffle. Like all flash memory, it is susceptible to damage if unplugged at the wrong time.
For the shuffle, you cannot remove it while it is updating or in Disk Mode. This warning is presented in the User's Guide and is repeated in several other places throughout the Support pages as well.
The general rule is: If it's blinking amber, don't unplug it before you unmount it. Unmounting can be done either in iTunes or in the Finder.
About all you can do, given the symptoms you're seeing, is try to Restore it. See the instructions in the User's Guide and/or on the iPod Shuffle Support Page.

  • Why do i get a blinking green light on my airport?

My airport keeps blinking a green light, and my airport utility does not detect a configured airport even though it is plugged in. what should I do?

Please try a factory default reset on the AirPort Extreme as follows:
Pull the power cord from the AirPort
    Wait a minute
Hold in the reset button on the AirPort first, and keep holding it in for an additional 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power back into the AirPort
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow a full minute for the AirPort to restart.
If the AirPort is operational, it will display a solid amber light for about 30 seconds, then the light will turn to blinking amber.
If you still have no power light after you try the reset a few times, the AirPort has unfortunately very likely failed and will need to be replaced.
If you do have an Apple Store near you, take the AirPort to them to let them have a look. If the AirPort has an external power supply "brick", sometimes that is the culprit and new power supply will get things going again.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard Blinking Green Light & Not Found

    Hi all
I've had a wireless keyboard and mouse for the past 2 years which have given me no problems at all. Suddenly the keyboard has stopped working and when I looked for it on the bluetooth menu it said it wasn't connected. I tried to set it up with Bluetooth again but it can't be found. I replaced all the batteries and when I switch it on the green light blinks on and off for a while (which is when I tried to re-pair it with bluetooth) but then it stops blinking and stays off. Has anyone any ideas? Is the keyboard itself for the trash? The mouse continues to work fine.
    thanks
    WG

This morning, my Keyboard went into the fast blinking light state when I inadvertently pressed the power button when it was in the middle of pairing.
    Here's what worked this time:
    • Took out the batteries and left them out for > half an hour.
    • Deleted the pairing in the bluetooth preferences.
    • Made the MacBook Pro 'invisible' -> turn 'Discoverable' off.
(Because the keyboard tried to pair with the MBP again, which I denied)
    • Put the batteries back.
    • 'Set up new bluetooth device -> keyboard'
    • Turned on the keyboard
    • Paired again.

  • Blinking Green lights

I have an Ipod Shuffle 4th Gen and it's only displaying a green light that blinks around every two seconds and won't play any music. I restored the Ipod multiple times and enabled/disabled disk use multiple times, and it still won't play. Is there any way to fix this?
    Thank you
Ipod Shuffle 4th gen, Windows 8, latest version of iTunes.

If a factory default reset fails to correct this problem then your diagnosis is right - your Airport Express has failed.

  • Blinking green light and then orange and green at the same time...

I have an Ipod shuffle that was working good before and I don't know why I let it one month and after when I connected it to the computer Windows and Itunes didn't recognized it. It seems to function good because I can listen the songs that were before in the Ipod, and when I don't have battery I connect it to the computer and it seems to charge because after I have battery. The only thing is that when I connect it I don't listen that windows recognize it (like when I connect my USB key) and Itunes neither. Moreover there is a green light blinking two seconds and after green and orange at the same time (little lights) during one second. I can't restore it because it doesn't appear in Itunes.
Do you know what can do that???
    Thx

    Faites ceci:

  • Power, blinking green light, motherboard plug in

My comjputer has failed to start when the green light on the back of the computer flashes.  i tried the suggested hair dryer trick and it didn't work.  I did find that if i disconnected the power cord and disconnected the large connection to the mother board then plugged the power cord in followed by plugging the connection to the motherboard in I was able to restore a solid green light and start the computer.  I have not tried flipping the red switch on the back, i'll try that next time.
My question is:  Has anyone tracked this problem down to its source yet?  Is it a power unit issue?  Or is it a motherboard issue?  Does replacing the power unit solve the problem?
Also, do I need to replace this unit or the motherboard soon?
Most of the posts about this are older.  Is this no longer a problem for most folks?
any and all help will be appreciated, thank you.

While the Insignia PSU should work (I looked at the specs), I did not find any efficency rating. It's also a 1 year warranty. Trying to find the real manufacturer is a puzzle, as it's an in-house Best Buy exclusive.  The Corsair is energy efficient >80%, and has a 3 year warranty. Here's a vendor list, and who really makes what PSU.

  • What's the blinking green light???

besides to drive me crazy of course. I know when it 's red I have a message, but it's been blinking all night and I had to cover it up only to find this morning it is still alive! What's it mean? How do I shut it off?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I think it's there to tell you that you're within network coverage.
You can turn it off by going to Options, Screen/Keyboard, and set 'LED Coverage Indicator:' to "Off".

  • Regza 26LV47 ------- STEADY Blinking green light?

No power-up, no sequence of three blinks like most others.
    Any suggestions?

I'm sorry; I must have made a typo when I went to look it up yesterday. I do see it now, but unfortunately, I don't see any information regarding that issue. It does sound like it would require servicing, but specific parts are beyond my knowledge. Sorry!

  • 3 blinking orage lights?

My ipod shuffle is showing 3 orange flashes. There is nothing on the trouble shooting page about this. I have called to ask about my situation but was asked for my credit card number. I do not feel comfortable about giving a credit card number just to ask a question. Can you help? Now my ipod shuffle won't turn on. I'm guessing it's a dead battery? Anyone?

Hi, it is probably on 'HOLD'. Try holding down the play/pause button for about 3 seconds, and you should see a blinking green light. That's how you know it is off the 'hold' mode.
    Hope it helps...

  • Plug in ipod, blinks green forver

    hey,
My iPod is not working like on MY computer like hundreds of others. It works fine on other computers, but when i pl;ug it inot my computer, the status light just starts blinking green and dosnt stop.
Its like an erratic blinking, not like the steady blinking when you press play or something, it blinks slow, and then fast, sometimes so quick the blinks seem to blend together into a solid glow, then fast, and slow, and so on for ever.
i have tried all the suggestions in these disscusions, but noone seems to have mentioned blinking GREEN lights before.
Unplug the ipod and it stops blinking and you can go on to operate as normal.
Anyone got any ideas as what i could do??

I had the same issue with my Shuffle (1st Gen) about 4 months ago,and had given up on it until I found the link below a while ago here on Apple site that did fix my problem. (This issue is affectionately known as the disco lights of death)
Download the file and then follow instructions to restore Shuffle - you will lose any data or music on it when you do this. Also, I have had to reset it multiple times.

    or

Just realized you have 2nd gen - there may be similar reset utility.

  • Ceaseless rapid blinking green

Recently my 3.5 year old Airport Express stopped working. When it's plugged in I get a rapidly blinking green light, but I can't connect to it through the Airport Utility. I've tried to reset it, but nothing happens, the light just keeps on blinking even while the reset button is depressed.
Any suggestions outside of buying a new Express?

is there a way to change the color of the blinking green light?
Only if the app itself lets you choose a different light color.
I downloaded the new Yahoo! email app and the light blinks purple when I get my yahoo mail, green for Gmail, but there's no way to choose that color. I've seen red, blue (from Handcent-I think), and I  think yellow, so the flashing light is capable of shining in different colors.
