Blinking solid line cursor used for scrolling

It happened with Aurora first.. My blinking solid line cursor would be used to scroll the page when I press the down button on my keyboard.
Really got annoying, makes it hard to scroll etc.
installed firefox in it's place, worked for a few weeks then it developed the same problem.
I ignored it for a few months until a new problem popped up. The blinking sold line cursor won't scroll through my favorite website!! other then the tabs on the top and bottom of the website (contact us etc) IT won't scroll through the webpage... just jumps from the top to the bottom.
I downloaded and installed firefox Beta hoping a different version would fix the problem like it did before.
Nope, same thing... It's really drilling my nerves, any advice would help (can't use another browser because I am dependent on a firefox add-on known as greasemonkey and it's many beautiful userscripts that make some websites easier to use like fanfiction.net (which is the website I am having a problem in the most) )

You can widen the "I-beam" cursor but if I recall correctly, the thicker it gets the more it will overlap the text to some extent so that can sometimes affect readability.

Cursor keys for scrolling in listbox (PnlTreeView)

Hi everybody,
I have developed a plugin for InDesign CS2 that is based on one of the examples included with the SDK, namely the PanelTreeView example. My plugin connects to an Oracle database, interacts with a remote file storage repository, exports documents in various formats - all things that I added to the example which are working really fine, but I've as of yet been unable to add something that should be really easy. The SDK docs and existing threads here haven't revealed much that would help me, so here's what I would like to do:
If you've ever seen the PanelTreeView example, you'll know that it displays files (located in a folder) in a hierarchical tree (originally multiple levels deep, but in my own plugin only one level deep, though that doesn't matter). In order to scroll up and down in said tree, there is a scrollbar on the right of the treeView widget, just as you would expect, BUT: I'd like to be able to scroll up and down using the cursor keys. That is, when the user has selected an element in the tree and presses "Cursor Down", I want to selection focus to jump to the element below the one currently selected. And once I've reached the (visible) end of the treeView, I want it to scroll down as if the "down arrow" of the scrollbar was pressed. So all in all nothing special, only standard behaviour you have seen all over the place in zillions of apps.
The only question is: How do I achieve that? Any pointers to specific sections and / or examples in the SDK docs? I figure I need to implement some sort of keystroke handler that is only active when the user has focussed my treeView (as the cursor keys have other functions otherwise, like scrolling in the currently open document of something). Sounds easy, but where do I start?
Any hints would be very much appreciated! Big thank-you's to all of you in advance!

Actual Cursor-Pixel for selection inaccurately placed?

I've tried going through a few pages on Google search results and here at the Apple community section, but I have not seen anyone with this question.
Below is as a picture I took with my iPhone really close to my non-HD monitor. I apologize for it being blurry. The point is that the actual pixel the OS X cursor uses for selection seems to be wrong, at least on my Late 2012 Mac Mini running 10.10.1. (This "problem" also existed in Mavericks, as well.) When I click on the desktop and drag down -> right, it seems ok. When I click and drag either up or down -> left, it shows it being off. This odd placement for the selecting pixel is also demonstrated by moving the cursor to the right side of the screen; here, I can see enough of the cursor left on the screen that I see the slop up and down from left "line" of the cursor.
Maybe it has always been that way, but having used (read: suffered) Windows for so long, I'm used to the cursor being more in the actual point. The cursor for OS X seems to be offset from even the black point within the white border.
Any clarity provided into this would be extremely appreciated.

"Apple ID cannot be used for MobileMe" when setting up Find My iPhone app

Okay, folks, spent some time with MobileMe support via chat this morning. This is what I've learned. Apparently you CANNOT use an Apple ID, regardless of what format it's in (usually a full email address) AS LONG AS IT'S ASSOCIATED WITH A MOBILE ME (ME.COM ADDRESS) ACCOUNT THAT IS CLOSED OR NO LONGER ACTIVE. Unfortunately, there is no way to disassociate the two and there is no way the old MobileMe (me.com address) account can be deleted.
Apparently, I had some issue when I was trying out the MobileMe for the trial period many months ago and for some reason couldn't use my primary Apple ID (my primary email address), so I created a me.com address for the MobileMe account. Eventually, I cancelled the MobileMe account because the cost wasn't justified for the features it offered. Unfortunately, that association with my primary Apple ID is permanent and THAT is the source of the "This Apple ID canot be used for MobileMe" error. Or at least that's ONE reason for it.
The solution? Create a completely new, separate Apple ID using a valid email address from which you can receive a verification email. The address is NOT used to receive any further emails from Apple. Only to create logon credentials. Do NOT associate this email address with your current/primary Apple ID or any other Apple ID. This is what you use to set up Find My iPhone/iPad, etc. using the MobileMe setup in Settings>Mail/Contacts/Calendars as well as the Find My iPhone App (plus it's your logon to the MobileMe Find My iPhone web page).
When you log in to the MobileMe page, BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU ENTER YOUR APPLE ID IF IT'S A FULL EMAIL ADDRESS: apparently, the ID field automatically tries to change it to "[email protected]" instead of your "[email protected]". Just check it before and after you enter your Apple ID password and submit.
I did this and it works. Find My iPhone app and service works beautifully. Spotted my iPad right where I'm at on a map. I sent a message to my iPad via the service (which also offers the option to play a sound, lock the device or even wipe the device).
I hope this information helps SOMEONE.
Oh...interesting footnote: I was informed that APPLE IDs CANNOT BE DELETED. Even if you create a "test" Apple ID (like I did during our troubleshooting session) with some barely used email account using a weak password. That means, regardless of whether you use it or not for MobileMe/Find My iPhone, you really, really need to give it a SECURE password (if you're going to keep that email account alive). So yeah, there are a lot of dormant Apple IDs floating around out there!

I found this 'bug' out the other day when getting ready for my new iPhone I was setting up my iPad with some new apps too and wanted to work with Find My iPhone.
Here's the deal; my main AppleID is just a simple 'Username' not a '[email protected]' AppleID.
I've had this since the need for AppleIDs were used for these forums and the iTunes Store, AppStore, etc.
So it works fine and well with that stuff but not with find my iphone on my iPad as it wants a full email account, either a '@me.com' or a '[email protected]' AppleID which I did create but I think it was used as Job profile or something other along those lines (NOT used for a MobileMe account or .mac either).
And I only have access to one email now and I dont feel comfortable having multiple email addresses that I dont check or have no use for, call my simple or naive but thats just how it goes.
What I'd like to do is be able to use either AppleID for my Find My iPhone app and everything else.
And I think thats a good point, '@me.com's for all. make it a whole lot easier in my opinion.
merge all the apple accounts you created into a MobileMe, simplifies the situation and makes it easier connect to all Apple Services.
My itunes account, apple.com store account, appstore account, main AppleID for the past couple years it "Maxwell Stanley" but it does NOT work with Find My iPhone. So i created [email protected] (example.com is in place of my true email domain for privacy reasons) and that doesnt work as it statse it Cannot Be used.
My 'Maxwell Stanley" Apple ID's email associated with it was [email protected] i tried changing it to [email protected] but still doesnt recognize that as an AppleID even though its associated with "Maxwell Stanley".
I event ried to use the SAME email that is associated with my 2nd AppleID '[email protected]' with the appleid 'Maxwell Stanley' and no dice.
running out of options it seems.

JScrollPane - Set the rate of the mouse wheel for scrolling

Hi,
I'm curious to know a little more about the mouse wheel used for scrolling in a JScrollPane. I'm using it for a JTextComponent at the moment, but the scroll rate is really slow.
Is this because of the way swing deals with the mouse wheel, and therefore can I increase the rate of scroll?
Or is it to do with the native OS and the way it processes mouse wheel events?

Scroll rate has nothing to do with the OS you'll be glad to know. As far as Swing goes, it doesn't in this case make any assumptions on how you want you 'views' to scroll.
I think LookAndFeel implementations often decide on default behaviour - I suppose this is in essence the whole point of the pluggable LnF framework.
Anyway, JTextComponent is an abstract class so I would not be surprised if it performs like a lame duck! You will however notice that it implements the Scrollable interface. Take a look at Scrollable.getScrollableBlockIncrement() and Scrollable.getScrollableUnitIncrement().
Overriding these methods will give you the behaviour you desire.

Two lines in use, one master socket that is bypass...

I work at an organisation that has a subscription for two lines. One line is used for the main phone system of the business and the other is used for two purposes: 1. There is a payphone for guests on it; 2. The business internet connection comes through it (DSL). The internet connection is noticably slower than it should be and often drops out, so I've had a look at the wiring of the phone lines.
Both lines come into the building from the pole through a single 4-core black drop-cable, as is quite normal I think. This cable comes into the back of an NTE5 master socket. The wire colours are Green, White, Orange and Black. None of these connect to any part of the master socket - neither the main panel, nor the removable front plate. Instead, they are all connected with the little translucent crimp-type things to the wires of the internal "extension" cables. My first quesion is, is this correct? I think it's incorrect, especially as one pair of wires immediately gets split off to 2 extensions, as I'll now describe...
From the master socket there are two "extension" cables. One goes directly to what I think is a normal extension socket (smaller than an NTE5, but it does have some kind of inductor or capacitor, and it looks modern). This socket's pins 2 and 5 are wired directly from the orange and white wires respectively in the drop wire. To this socket, the ADSL modem is connected and nothing else.
The other extension cable goes off somewhere else. However, it must be carrying two phone lines - because the payphone must come off it (which shares the line with the modem), as must the main phone system. It is a 6-core round white cable. Its Orange and White/orange wires are connected to White and Orange in the drop cable (i.e. the same pair that goes to the modem extension) and its Green and White/green wires are connected to Green and Black in the drop-cable. I haven't been able to trace this cable yet, but all I know is that it must end up splitting off to the pay phone and the main phone system, because they are separate lines.
So, is the incoming line not terminated correctly, in that it doesn't connect at all to the master socket and the one pair of wires immediately splits off to two extensions? Could this be causing the internet connection problems?
Any help would be greatly appreciated - preferably from one of you former BT men ;-) I'm trained in electronics myself, so answer technically if you want.

Yes, the payphone has a filter.
Yes I agree that the line the main phone system comes off may not need a master socket for whatever reason (i.e. it may have its own circuitry).
But as for the broadband line - it splits off to the payphone extension and to the modem extension as soon as it leaves the drop wire, which seems wrong to me. As far as I understand, one of the purposes of the master socket is to be able to detach the front plate in order to isolate the consumer's extensions from BT's line; but with the extensions being hard-wired in, that's imposisble. And with no master socket, I assume that whatever circuitry is normally in a master socket isn't present on the line. Does this matter? Is it just surge protection, or is there some kind of filtering as well? We will of course contact BT about this, but I'd like to know first whether there really is something wrong.

Please check if you have properly populated the following fields in POSCHEDULE:
PO_ITEM
SCHED_LINE
and the other fields required for your schedule line such as delivery date and quantity, etc.
After that, make sure to properly populate fields in POSCHEDULEX:
PO_ITEM -> same value as found in POSCHEDULE
SCHED_LINE -> same value as found in POSCHEDULE
All other values populated in POSCHEDULE should be ticked as 'X' in POSCHEDULEX.

Can bind variable be used for the table in an explicit cursor

I have an application that accesses a table on several different servers. I created a ref cursor variable for the cursor and a varchar2 variable to define my query. variable i_server is an parameter of my procedure. Is it possible to rewrite the v_query using bind variables for the table/server? I have include v_query below.

But my question then would be: why would you want to do that?
I assume you don't have that many "different servers". One cursor per server won't hurt you.

Which char use for next line in TLF

I tried a sample app to know what character TLF use for next line in plain text mode.
However it use "\n" instead of "\r\n".
Can any one tell me which one is correct .
