Bloated AppData/Roaming/Adobe folder

I'm running Win7 x64 and noticed I was down to the last 7 GB of storage on my 120GB app disk.  I've only got about 50 GB of apps so it looked like something was amiss.  I did some poking around and discovered the Users/username/AppData/Roaming folder had 41 GB of stuff in it.  36 GB is in one folder, Adobe.  I have Master Collection CS5, but the program files for all of it (stored in another folder, of course) only add up to about 15 GB.  Anybody know what this stuff is for?  Can any of it be safely deleted?  Thanks.

OK, I've figured out the problem.  The sub-folder Common/Media Cache Files stores cached versions of After Effects, Premiere, and Soundbooth files and is not automatically cleansed.  There were hundreds of these .cfa and .pek files that accounted for 99% of the bloat.  See this post and this help file entry.  Problem solved by cleaning the database, deleting some additional unused files, and moving the cache to my scratch disk from my apps SSD.

  • My files located in user/appdata/roaming/adobe for photosho cs6 are totally gone

hi i recently recovered my laptop and reinstalled adobe cs6 , i ran it and got the error 1 code , i found the solution as being registry issues so i fixed everything but still got the code then i went to this page http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/preference-file-names-locations-photoshop.html coincidentally and i found that EVERY FILE LISTED IN THE DIALOG BOXES ARE MISSING FROM MY  user\appdata\roaming\adobe folders, i mean the .psp format files like the Adobe Photoshop X64 CS6 Prefs.psp , Color Settings.csf etc files , so my guess is when my laptop was backing up it failed to backup my  files from the adobe follder in the'roaming' folder so everything there associated with photoshop cs6 including colors are missing , and my installation disc is with my dad , hes travelled for six weeks and i am a FREQUENT photoshop user , i use it on a  average of  168 hours at least per week so i really want to know if i can download these files any where else or if someone would be kind enough to track their files and email them to me [email address removed] thanks alot

The preference files are created when you successfully launch Photoshop, they are not created by the installation process. Since you have not done that yet, you do not have these files.
You cannot simply backup the files in the application and restore them to a new computer. You have to run the installer, part of the installation process will lock the application to that specific computer, the files will not work on another computer. You can download the installation files from Adobe.com and install from there.

flash player 11.8.800.94 (uninstalled and did a clean install)
mpchc64.exe *32 (as it appears in task manager-description in task manager is media player classic home cinema) located in (C:\Users\admin\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Flash Player\SpeedCache) uses 99% of my cpu and I cannot do anything else.
I can manually stop the process but I have to do that every time I start the pc.
is this a flash player file or a virus or what?

    SpeedCache is a Wordpress plugin
It's not anything from Adobe. If you work with WordPress, you may have installed it. Or... it may have installed from somewhere else.
Good news is: it's not malware. If you don't need it, unistall it.

  • C:\Users\User_name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Flash Player\File Cache\file.vbs

Hello, I'm having a problem with a Windows Script Host error, everytime I restart my computer, a window popup saying that it is not possible to find the script file in "C:\Users\User_name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Flash Player\File Cache\file.vbs". Is there any way to solve this problem? Thank you in advance.

    that's not an adobe file.
update your antivirus definitions and run a thorough antivirus scan of your computer.

  • I can't reinstall firefox, I get the "profile cannot be loaded" error and no solution I've found works. The /appdata/roaming/mozilla folder is inaccessible.

I'm on Win7, 64 bit. I originally uninstalled because a program changed my new tab page to something unwanted and I had literally no way of changing it back. Now every time I reinstall it I get the "profile cannot be loaded, it may be missing or inaccesible" error, and I cannot create a new profile. Every time I try any method of opening the profile editor, I get the "profile cannot be loaded" error then too. I can't access the folder under /appdata/roaming/mozilla at all. It says it is inaccesible and access is denied, and trying to delete it tells me that I don't have permission (even though I'm the admin). No other fix I have seen has worked. Can anyone help, please?

I ran a virus scan, cleaned up a single piece of adware, restarted, and it suddenly worked. I'm not sure what exactly caused it to begin working but it did so I consider this matter closed.

  • Possible new virus/malware? slui.exe in %Userprofile%\AppData\Roaming

    Hi,
I would like to start a discussion for one strange problem that I encountered in my company. Four Notebooks with Windows 7 x64 Enterprise SP1 versions all of a sudden after 1-2-3hours period cannot open any webpage trough any browser (IE,FF, Chrome) but
everything is pingable via command prompt. We made sure that it is not a DNS problem, whole network is functioning properly.
After one college called me because of the problem described above I started to dig trough the active processes that were running in that moment and slui.exe caught my attention because it was unusual for me to see that process even running. The process
itself is very small, only 54k. And starting folder is located in userprofile\AppData\Roaming\DNCache folder, in there are a couple of files (see picture bellow). That is not a location for slui.exe in my humble opionion, slui.exe resides in System32 folder.
You cannot delete the folder because it is being used, even with file unlocker it won't let you delete it. I went to SAFE mode and deleted it. Also in safe mode run msconfig and clear out any files that have "Unknown" manufacturer and start with
d..something, sorry cannot remember the correct name, but are the same as in DNCache folder. Our company uses Microsoft Forefront for protection. I am now waiting to see if I have solved the issue.
Could that be somekind of a virus/malware?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Based on m research, “suli.exe” has not been recorded into MS data. It may be not a virus.

  • Why are there databases for two websites in my appdata roaming firefox default profile folder?

    C:\Users\user\appdata\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\i4unw84s.default\databases\http_www.fling.com_
    C:\Users\user\appdata\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\i4unw84s.default\databases\https_cashier.bovada.lv_
Both of these website databases have 64 KB and are io_temp.sqlite files. I want to know how they were created and what information is being stored there. I know my boyfriend goes on the bovada site alot but want to know if he has personal login info stored for both of these sites. I know they aren't cookies because I saw the list of cookies and deleted them and these files are still there. I really want to know if the only way the websites could be in the folder is because he intentionally saved info stored on those sites and if not, then why are they part of his roaming profile?

hello, i could find no documentation whatsoever on what the ''databases'' folder within the profile or a ''io_temp.sqlite''-file would do in the context of firefox (maybe this was an early version of ''dom storage'' or ''indexeddb'').
if you are having questions about the usage of these sites by your boyfriend, you should probably speak with him directly about this, instead of finding an answer this way...

  • My security software says that I have a virus Trojan.Script.483139. It is located in the AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles folder. Is this from you?

    The directly path is Users\Chris\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\sqmsakij.default\ImapMail\imap.googlemail.com\...changelog.htm

    I can't find a changelog.htm in my folders.
Maybe that's an attachment to a message you got? I think it's dangerous to have security software try to rip out an attachment -- who knows what that might do to your mailbox. But if you see an attachment with that name, ''don't open it''. (Unless you are software developer, you probably weren't going to be tempted by a change log anyway.)
If you can figure out the full path (the missing ... part might be helpful), maybe it will show which folder this message is in. Could be in Junk.

  • Move Flash Settings to AppData\Roaming instead of Local?

I have a Network site license for Adobe CS4 Flash. However, my users Settings KEEP deleting because they are stored in AppData\Local instead of AppData\Roaming (Windows 7) or Local Settings\Application Data instead of just Application Data (XP).
In a Network, local settings are deleted on logoff.
WHY on EARTH would Adobe Change this? We have been running Adobe Flash (Macromedia before that) for 10 years and we never had issues with MX, Flash 8, Flash 9 or CS3 but in CS4 all the settings move to the ONE folder that deletes on logoff?
The weird thing is that Dreamweaver CS4, Photoshop CS4, Indesign CS4 and Illustrator CS4, Fireworks CS4 ALL store their settings in the Application Data folder, not the Local one.
It is JUST Flash that is being annoying.
I have upgraded to 10.0.2 and it hasn't made a difference.
I need to figure out the hack to fix this asap as it is driving my users crazy.

With Flash CS3 it stored it in the AppData\Roaming. In fact ALL the Adobe products still do, except Flash.
Here is the documentation on where they have designated the Preferences to save. Note the "local settings" for XP and the Local for Windows 7.
Kind of very dumb because the Local Settings deletes on logoff..

  • What is the file or registry in mozilla app that gets launch to create the APPData\Roaming\Mozilla

I do like to know what is the file that triggers when you launch the Mozilla Firefox for the first time to create the folder under AppData either Local or Roaming because i want to change it to a different name since i want to have 2 versions of mozilla in the same computer and the old version i want it to customize for my company web application only.
I have open all the files with extension *.JS but none of them have the parameter to create the folder I have also look into every INI file inside mozilla firefox application but no info was found as well.
I have use the ORCA MSI editor to reveal the registry keys but I am not sure since many of them leads to the Mozilla folder but none to the Appdata either Roaming or Local.
Please let me know if you have some hints or files that i need to edit to modify that name to perhaps MOZ2015
Thank you in advance for your reply

The KDAoracle.exe is the same as firefox .exe but i change it since i am customizing the mozilla to fit my internal in house application that is the reason why i would like to change the name from
Mozilla to ====> KDAORA when it gets create for the first time but i need to know where does the system gets the name MOZILLA to be written or created for the first time under APPData Roaming or Local
in essence there is a file that the system look inside the mozilla firefox program files maybe a dll or extension db i have no idea what is the file that provide with the name each time the mozilla firefox is launched for the FIRST time ONLY
So once mozilla is installed you look under AppData either local or roaming there is no MOZILLA folder there but once you launch mozilla a forlder gets created there (( I want to know where does the system pick the name MOZILLA )) for the screen shot it seems like it looks inside the firefox program files but it is not clear what file gets read to create the folder))
I do like to thank you all for looking into this and giving me all the hints I want but once i get my hands on the file that gets read to provide the name i will modify and remane the name from Mozilla to the name I would like to
    Thanks and regards to all

Very few authentic dll files reside in that folder. It sounds as though you’ve had a recent infection and one of your ‘anti’ programs has removed the malware files, or some of them, but missed the entry in the registry, possibly due to an out-dated definitions
    database.
Try one of these, but it is prudent to create a system restore point before you change the registry in (1) below by going to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > System > System Protection (in the left pane) > System Protection Tab >
Create and make sure you give it a meaningful name.
    1. The entry is probably in one of the \Run keys, but as the rascal could be hiding in a number of other keys, it’s quicker to search the whole registry. Open a Run window (Windows Logo key+R), type regedit and press Enter. Click Edit > Find and type the
rogue’s name, put ticks in Keys, Values and Data, then click Find Next. When it’s found in the right pane, right-click it and delete it. There should be only one entry but press F3 to continue searching, just to confirm there are no more.
    2. If you’re concerned about making registry changes disable the entry using the system configuration utility, but bear in mind that you’re disabling the entry not deleting it as you would in (1) above. Open a Run window (Windows Logo key+R), type msconfig
and press Enter. Go to the Startup Tab and remove the tick alongside the rogue’s name. Click Apply, OK, etc. and restart the computer. When it restarts, put a tick in ‘Don‘t show this again‘ as you‘re effectively doing a selective start up.

  • Where is APPDATA\roaming... on my imac

I am trying to put presets into one of my programs and my insturctions say to copy the presets to
    C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Roaming\HDRsoft\PhotomatixPro\Presets
I can not figure out how to do this- I went to the finder clicked on the mac hd- users-myusername-----but can not find a file called appdata and when I go into applications there is nothing there.
I hope you can help me figure this out.
    frustrated!

I created a movie that I also posted to my .Mac web gallery, but now I wonder if there is a local copy and where it is stored on my iMac....
Until or unless you modify your iMovie '08 project, a copy will be maintained in the "Movie > iMovie Projects" > named project file package in the "Movies" folder.

  • How come File : C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\F\Profiles\h4n7abn.default\prefs.js still registers as infection even though uninstalled Firefox?

Already asked but at the time did not register to see if any reply forthcoming, so here is the simple question again:
"C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\h4nh7abn.default\prefs.js" keeps coming up on my computer as a malware item even though I have completely uninstalled Firefox.
    How can this be?!?
I uninstalled all Firefox remnants with a good uninstaller. Re-booted. I've also run scans, including the JRT scan recommended on another mozilla support page, yet it still keeps coming back as though Firefox is still on my computer, even in relation to the "JRT scan"... This is weird...what to do?
--Avast antivirus, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Hitman Pro, JRT scanner, CCleaner, etc., installed, Vista - 32 bit.

    Sounds like a false positive.<br />
The prefs.js file only stores modified prefs and no code (data) that can run and be harmful that way.
It is usually best to exclude the Firefox profile folder from scanning to prevent such software from corrupting files in the Firefox profile folder.

  • AppData Roaming Issues

Hi - I have a policy that redirects AppData folder separate from the user's Documents, Desktop, Favorites, etc. Each folders are separated from each other so redirection happens on all folders when users login into TS server. The issue with AppData is when
the user logs in to a local laptop as themselves, it also does roaming locally to the laptop which causes the following scenario:
    1. Local AppData streams over a slow bandwidth link (vpn, ptp, dsl).
    2. Local AppData settings (i.e. user personalized settings, task bar shortcuts, etc.) doesn't work when the user is not plugged in to the domain network.
    Question:
    1. I was wondering if there's a way to create a policy that will detect if the user is on a slow link network (i.e. remote, vpn, etc).
    2. Is there a way to leave AppData cache when user is not in the domain network leaving user's personalized settings in their laptops?
    Please kindly advise.
    Cheers - DB

    Hi,
For using Folder Redirection to redirect Appdata, only Appdata roaming can be redirected.
Besides, Folder redirection applies only to applications that use the Windows shell APIs to redirect common folder paths. For example, if an application writes a file to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming,
the file is written to the local profile and not redirected to the network location.
Regarding Folder Redirection, the following article can be referred to for more information.

Yes, we can use Group Policy to configure slow link threshold.
Regarding slow link detection, the following article can be referred to for more information.

Usually, Folder Redirection is used together with Offline Files which is enabled by default.
Offline Files makes network files available to an end user when a network connection to the server is unavailable or slow.
