Blob at the start of a calligraphic line taper

Hi all,
I have a problem with the start of the calligraphic line taper in Illustrator CS2, using a Wacom Bamboo Fun. When I start to add pressure lightly, a blob appears at the start of my line much bigger than the minimum diameter. The rest of the line tapers, it just has a big dot at the start. I have reinstalled the driver and tried different diameter/variations and pressure. Any suggestions? Is this common?
Thanks,
Sam

Are your Wacom drivers up to date? Downloaded from the wacom site, not installed from the cd you get. The CD almost always contains old drivers.

How do I jump to the start or end of a word or line in Terminal?
In other OS X apps, Cmd or Opt + left/right arrows move to the start/end of a line or word respectively.

Try these (note: the first two require the shift key, at least for me):
    ctrl-A beginning of line
    ctrl-E end of line
(note: the next two require that you have the Terminal preferences, "settings" , "keyboard" opened, and the checkbox for "Use option as meta key" checked)
    opt-f forward word
    opt-b backward word
ctrl-u clears the line before the cursor position. If you are at the end of the line, clears the entire line.

Firefox will not appear in the Market for most phones with incompatible hardware. You can check if your phone is supported here:
    https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android
Even on some supported devices, a bug in the Market software prevents Firefox from showing up. This may be related to the fairly recent Android Market app update. If you go to Settings/Applications/Market and choose "Uninstall" you can uninstall the update, and then search for and install Firefox from the marketplace.
Or, if you have a supported phone, you can download the app directly by typing this address into your phone's browser: http://bit.ly/fxbeta3
(Note: To download the app directly for an AT&T phone, you will have to search for instructions on "sideloading" the APK file, since AT&T disables the option to install from non-Market sources.)

  • The starting quote marks at the end of a line in my epub file are separated from the words quoted.

The starting quote marks at the end of a line in my epub file are routinely separated from the word quoted which appears on the next line. The formatting contractor accurance.com who prepared this epub file tells me that this is a feature of Adobe Digital Edition 2.0 and that there is nothing they can do to correct this. Are they correct, or else how can this problem be overcome?

I'm not sure about buying css style sheets.
You don't need one for each book; if you want to have a series of books all with the same general format,
then they should all use the same style sheet on a given device, but maybe different style sheets for different devices.
All the books will then have one consistent look on a given device, and a different consistent look on another device.
ADE only runs on PCs and Macs.  There are lots of different ereader software apps out there for running on different devices.
For a dedicated device, you are stuck with the reader the device provides.
For tablets you can download different ereader apps, for example Bluefire (my favourite, ios, Android), Aldiko (android) and DReader and DL Reader (windows RT).
I don't know if the readers/apps are derived from the same root as ADE in any way and likely to show similar bugs.
If it is not DRM, you should certainly try on Calibre, which is the most popular (free) ereader app for computers.
If you care to create a very short non DRM extract (complete with css) and post it somewhere on the web I'll have a quick look.
If you have inclination to get more involved yourself,
there is free software called sigil (https://code.google.com/p/sigil/) that will help you get off the ground and experiment.

  • Line Graph repeats the starting data point at the end also

    Hi,
We have a Line Graph as below. This graph is used to show the Salary changes of a person, over time.
But this graph shows an additional non existing data point. Basically it shows the starting data point once again at the end of the other data points.
The model VO for this graph, does not contain this additional data point record. But the graph repeats the starting data point at the end also.
In the screen-shot you can see that, the graph has three data points. But the table has only two. The first data point in the graph is repeated as the last data point.
    Is this a Bug..?

If I understand your question, this from the Pages online help may give the answer:
To mark line, area, and scatter charts with data point symbols:
Select the entire chart. You can also select the chart series (the line or area shape) that you want to mark with data point symbols.
Click Inspector in the toolbar, and then click the Chart Inspector button.
Click Series (except for scatter charts).
Choose a symbol from the Data Point Symbol pop-up menu.
Choose one of the following options from the Symbol Fill pop-up menu:
To fill the symbol with the same color as its outline, choose Use Stroke Color.
To fill the symbol with a solid color, choose Color Fill, click the Fill color well, and pick a color.
To fill the symbol with a gradient, choose Gradient Fill and use the gradient controls to set the colors and change the angle of the gradient.
To fill the symbol with an image, choose Image Fill and select the image you want. You can also resize the image by choosing an option from the pop-up menu above the Choose button.
To fill the symbol with a tinted image, choose Tinted Image Fill and select the image you want. Click the color well to the right of the Choose button to change the tint color. You can also resize the image by choosing an option from the pop-up menu above the Choose button.

I presume SED would be the best to use? Any help on code would be greatly appreciated?

    Hi David,
That is a little more difficult in sed and awk than it seems like it should be. I'll assume that you know how to handle the redirection and I'll just post the actual sed and awk commands. If you're comfortable with multiline statements in sed it could be done with the following:
    sed '1s/./\
Programmatically more complicated but easier to type would be:
    sed '1{x;p;g;}'
I think that it's conceptually simpler in awk using the BEGIN address like so:
    awk 'BEGIN{ print }//'
You'll probably get other responses using other tools. I'm certainly curious to see what develops.
