Blob in Flash line with Wacom

I have had this issue ever since Flash CS3, but I now see it
has persisted in Flash CS4 as well and I would like to see it
resolved. When drawing with the brush tool, using a Cintiq 21UX,
and also on a Tablet PC, under WinXP, I have been experiencing an
intermittent blob at the beginning of brush strokes when pressure
sensitivity is turned on. IT appears that Flash is registering
'full pressure' from the pen for a moment. I have attempted to fix
it via the Wacom control panel by turning on/off practically every
setting to no avail.
The problem appears to get worse the longer I have Flash
open. At launch, the problem is practically nonexistent. But as I
work it starts to creep up until it appears on almost every stroke.
It is immensely frustrating and disruptive to work flow. Closing
Flash and re-opening the file sometimes makes the problem go away
for a few minutes.
I don't experience this issue in ANY other program, so I am
led to believe it is a Flash specific issue. I have seen this issue
crop up on several PC's using similar configurations of Flash CS3,
CS4, Wacom Cintiq and/or Intuos tablets. All installations employ
current versions of Adobe, Microsoft and Wacom software.

It is not secret that the Flash IDE is very bad with memory
management. Very often, I need to leave Flash open for a time
inactive (I go on lunch or to a meeting for an hour) and when I
come back my computer is running extremely slow. A close and
re-open of Flash fixes the problem.
Your tablet issue sounds like a memory leak to me. Especially
since it gets worse the longer Flash is open.
I would post a bug report here:

  • Trailing lines with Wacom

Sorry in advance for this novel, but hopefully this can help someone or someone can think of a more permanent fix to this.
Im using an Intuos 3 6x8 on a dual quad core with 8gigs of RAM and OSX 10.5.2.
When I paint, whether with a brush, eraser, cloning tool, etc., in CS2 or 3, I am getting a trailing line when I lift the stylus off of the surface of the tablet. I could be making adjust to a layer mask or to the layer itself and when I pull up and try to go to my palletes, which are on a separate pallete monitor, I get a line drawn across my canvas. This problem has gotten progressively worse as time went on (over the past two months).
When I first bought this tablet, I was using a quad core loaded with Tiger. The problem started to progress when I switched to the new computer with Leopard. The reason I bought this tablet was that the Intuos 2 that the company I worked for supplied me with was doing the very same thing. Since I have an Intuos 3 at home and have never had this problem, I went for the upgrade.
One thing that fixed the problem with the Intuos 2 was replacing the tip, only I was doing that every two or so months. I tried this with the 3 and it didnt seem to make a difference...until I tried replacing it with the black, coarse tip that came with the replacements. It still isnt great, but much better than it was.
Other computers here at work are running into the same problem. You have to lift the stylus over an inch over the surface to have it stop drawing. Those computers are all G5s with Tiger 10.4.8 or 10.4.11 (dont ask me why some arent up to date, Im not the IT here).
I tried sticking a piece of paper under the surface cover of the tablet to separate the contact, drawing under that cover so that it was a cleaner contact, and tried pulling the tablet away from the monitor, keyboard and mouse so that there was no chance of interference from another device.
Software doesnt seem to be the issue here, from what Ive experimented with. Ive tried all the different configurations...Tip Double Click Distance Off, Various Sensitivity and Click Threshold settings, Switching Tablet Modes (Recognition Data vs. Standard Mode), etc. Ive done uninstalls and reinstalls of all necessary softwares. Tried creating new users. And, yes Anne, Ive run Cocktail and Disk Warrior =) ...which I agree, does make PS run smoother overall.
The thing that is really puzzling is why things arent reacting this way on my computer at home...G5 Dual 2.5, 5gig RAM, Tiger 10.4.11...and Ive never had to replace the tip.
One thing I did read on another forum is that it could be the stand/holder, for the stylus, smashing the tip in so that it reacts as if there is continuous pressure or contact to the surface. The post suggested not having your stylus rest in the holder when not in use. My stylus at home is always in the holder and, again, doesnt have this problem. Different holder, different stylus, different reaction?...maybe, but why is it happening to so many tablets here at work? And there not all the same models of tablets. Those are all Intuos 2's of various sizes.
I emailed Wacom with the problem and havent got a response back. Im going to bring my stylus from home and see how it reacts. If it works fine, Ill contact Wacom and get an RMA.
Either way, for those who may be experiencing this, try switching out your tip and keep switching until you find one that works. Not a complete solve, but can get you through the day. Not sure what to do once you run out of tips, though...I did.
    Anyone else have any thoughts?

I am experiencing it too (and had already tried a nib change to the Stylus which helped a little) but the problem is still there and is very noticeable on "Scrubby" Sliders (such as those in ACR).
I am wondering if the Wacom problem has anything to do with the later Quicktime Updates.
I have already had to remove QT 7.5 (because it screwed-up my external WD FWD and was preventing it from mounting). Apple has posted some very bad versions of the QT updates over the past 12 months several of which they have had to withdraw a few days after posting them.
I did re-install the latest Wacom Driver (v. 6.0.5-3) but that didn't help.
I have just checked in MacFixit and found this:
    http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20080617143056579
Try downgrading QT and see if it helps.

  • Black screen with white flashing line on startup

    ~issue~
Hello; I've recently encountered a problem with bootcamp that I can't find a solution to... Every time I start up the computer in boot camp, all I get is that black screen with the white flashing line. It comes up, goes to a plain black screen, then quickly comes up again. It never stops, either. I've let it run, and it won't finish.
I've had the partition for MONTHS now, and nothing like this has happened. I've had it since I upgraded to Snow Leopard awhile back, and needed to re-partition the drive. I literally had been using it the day before it happened, and the only thing that happened was that I got that "Windows Security 2011" malware, but I got rid of it fully (As I've gotten it 3 times this month). The other two times I got it, it didn't do anything. I fixed it, and went on with life. But is it possible that it broke something in the partitions inner files this time?
I ran disk utility, and it said the partition was broken. After verifying it and confirming this, I did "Repair Drive", as it allowed me to. It finished with no errors and said it completed, so I tried to go back into the partition, but it gave me the same results.
To be honest, most of my stuff is on my External Harddrive, so re-doing the partition is only going to be time used to me. But I still DO have things on there, and it'd be a pain to transfer them back and forth between the Mac and Windows partitions... I'd really like to know if there's anyway to fix this, or if it's just going to fall back to me re-partitioning the drive...
Thanks for the help in advance.

That blinking line is a "cursor."  It's only supposed to show for a second or two as your iMac switches to and then starts Windows.  But as you indicate here, it's not getting past the cursor..
Disk Utility can repair FAT volumes, but it cannot correct issues caused by corrupted items which, if the volume was repaired, there may be some.
Since we are dealing with a Windows boot partition, it's entirely possible that the repairs inadvertently corrupted the data Windows needs to start and run.  It's also posible that Mac OS, in fixing the Boot Camp volume, overwrote the existing boot record in the Windows partition with a generic, though non-bootable version.
Windows' own CHKDSK should have been used to make the repairs rather than the OS X Disk Utility, which would have avoided this worst-case scenario in data recovery.  CHKDSK has a special version of itself on the Windows disc, which may be accesed by using the Windiws Recovery Consile upon pressing R during the "Welcome to Setup" screen.
Though it appears ftom my position here that you will need to reinstall XP, it may yet be possible to recover data that hasn't been copied to the external HDD.  For this task, I'd like to recommend that you start up in Mac OS for the time being, and pull any new or changed items from the Boot Camp volume except for installed software; the latter are nearly impossible to transport with reasonable accuracy, and should instead be reinstalled.
Once you have what you need, format your Boot Camp volume and reinstall Windows, this time selecting NTFS as your filesystem.  NTFS is the preferred option for Windows in general, thiaks to its innate file access controls as well as the ability to compress or encrypt data "on the fly."  NTFS can be read by Mac OS X, but not written from it, thus NTFS volumes cannot be altered except by Windows itself..  But it is also a requirement if you plan to upgrade your unit using Windows 7 in future.

    Hi Guys,
Do you know how to install adobe flash player through command line with some script?
    Thanks,

Windows. I tried silent install  with "install_flash_player.exe /install" but it works only with one file that I downloaded from adobe.com - "install_flashplayer10_mssd_aih.exe". But it is possible to download this last file only one time, every next time it redirects me to download install_flash_player.exe file.

  • Flash line chart with multiple lines

    Here a newbie with apex...
Created a flash line chart with as source the following sql statement:
select null link, year, sum(total_cost) from cost
    group by year
a chart has been created with a single line. i wanted every year on an own line.
The way i could do this is with multiple series like:
select null link, year, sum(total_cost) from cost
    where year =2008
select null link, year, sum(total_cost) from cost
    where year =2009
But this not a good solition, cause now i've to add every year a new serie
hope to get some help from here... txn in advanced.

  • Can Flash create dashed line with blunt not rounded dashes ?

    Hi,
    using Flash8
I can select line tool and dashed line in properties and draw a dashed line and get a line of sausages. How do I get a line of dashes without rounded ends to each dash ?
Line option has end caps option with None (gives straight or blunt tip to line, round gives rounded tip .
Draw a line with None and its got blunt ends, select it and choose dashed line option and it gets round ends to the dashes, the end cap option is greyed out !
Are dashed lines with blunt dashes now possible again with CS4, a forum poster also found that CS3 no longer gave blunt dashes ?
    Why do I ask:-
I am trying to bring a map into Flash8 from Illustrator (Illus version 10 as it allows blunt tip lines to remain blunt it was said on the forum)... which has blunt ends to roads and has blunt type dashed lines. The roads remain blunt..GOOD !..but the dashed lines become what looks like a solid line. BAD !
I do a right click - break apart,  then double click one of those now solid lines that should be dashed, and I am able to select a portion of the line, it is no longer a continual line as drawn in Illustrator. Properties shows it as solid line. Flash8 obviously having a problem with supporting Illustrator 10 dashed line then !
Select dashed in properties box and I get a portion of the line as sausage dashes, but working my way along the line doing each bit sees a far from correct dashed line result as sausages dont start stop evenly as each line is a separate entity and ignores the previous line.
Looks like I shall have to try and draw the line as one long line again in flash but unless I can give it blunt dashes when done, there is no point even trying that method, hence my question.
Would the latest Illustrator and Flash versions (CS4) allow blunt type dashed lines to appear in Flash ?
This is crucial for bringing maps into Flash.
    Envirographics

I noticed one problem with my solution.
If you look, very carefully, at the end of the stream, it's flat. Not rounded like it should be. After a bit of trial and error, I tried a different brush:
Note that, in addition to the rounded rectangle (done with the new corner controls in the latest version of Illustrator CC that just came out) and the three circles, there is also a rectangle, with no stroke and no fill, to provide a space at the end of the three dots. Here is the result:

  • Problems with Flash Line Graphs

I have two problems with the new Flash Line Graphs in APEX 3.1
    1. I have created a query that returns a set number of rows. Sometimes the VALUE for a specific row might be null. When this occurs the LABEL data does not show up on the X axis. I want the LABEL data to show up no matter what. How do I accomplish this?
    2. Related to the above query. When the VALUE field is null for 3 records (or more) in a row, not only does the LABEL data for those records not display, the VALUE and LABEL data for the records that appear in the set after these 3 records also do not display. If one or even two null VALUE fields appears in a row, things are still OK. What do I need to do to get all my data to display?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    THANKS

Before you can run FM.EXE on the command line you must set up your PATH environment

    Hi CofeeBreak,
Thank you for your comment, but I was able to find the problem (didn't solve it yet): In the FM command line interface, calling a HEX file located in a folder with brackets in its name, such as "C:\hello_World(V1)\LabVIEW.hex" will not be recognized by the FM.exe, whereas "C:\hello_World_V1\LabVIEW.hex" will work just fine. In the Flash Magic GUI and Command Line Manual section on hex files there is no mention of that, my solution at the moment is to remove the brackets from folder names.
    Thanks

  • Line with red blob

What is the line with a red marker on its left-hand end, in iCal's weekly view????

    Hey Andy,
    That is a time-of-day marker, I believe.

  • I can't edit a Line with the Properties panel - Flash CS4

I have created a line on the stage with the Line tool, and then want to edit the Stroke and Style in the Properties panel. However, after creating the line these options are greyed out and not available to me. Even if I then select the Line with the Selection tool, I cannot edit the Stroke or the Style. It seems to me I should be able to do this, what am I missing?

Normally after drawing the line you only need to click once on it to select it, and with it selected you should be able to access its settings in the properties panel.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 incompatible with Wacom tablets?

Hey everyone, so I'm having a lot of issues with my Wacom tablets and PS CC 2014. So, I have two tablets hooked up to my computer (and before you ask, no, the issues don't stem from two tablets being connected to the computer. I already tested that.) A Cintiq 21UX and an Intuos 5. Both work very well and as you would expect in Photoshop CC, however in CC 2014 they have loads of problems. On the Cintiq, while I get great, fluid lines with the brush tool I can't change my eraser's size on the fly by rotating my pen like usual. It's very annoying and absolutely destroys workflow. Now, the eraser works, but the size can't be changed by flipping the pen from the brush tool like it normally would be able to. That's just the issue with the Cintiq though, on the Intuos 5 there's no pen pressure whatsoever! It just thinks the pen is a mouse, on both sides of it. I'm certain this isn't a driver issue, as the tablets have their drivers up-to-date and work perfectly with both Photoshop CC (standard) and Corel Painter X3.
Does anyone know how I could fix these issues?

I'm on Windows 8.1 with an Intuos4 tablet.  I updated to photoshop CC 2014 and after updating the tablet driver so I had the use Windows Ink checkbox I got the pressure sensitivity back but the lines are horrible and jagged so I'm trying to revert to the old implementation following your instructions and created the txt file named PSUserConfig.txt with the lines
    # Use WinTab
    UseSystemStylus 0
That worked to get pressure sensitivity to work whether or not the Windows ink box was checked but didn't fix the jagged lines.
I'm not sure I understand the second part of your instructions about turning off gestalt's functionality (Not even sure what that is) Is there supposed to be a PSUSerConfig.txt file because there wasn't one until I just saved the one I made.  Is any of this even going to fix the jagged lines or is that a whole different issue?
Everything works just fine in Photoshop CC 64bit

  • How can i copy line with text and image to ms word

When I insert an image in textflow using InlineGraphicElement it works, but when I copy the line with the image to MS Word it copies only the text (not the image).
How can i copy the image to MS Word?

If you want copy formatted text and image to MS Word, you need to give MS Word rtf markup, because Word can recognize rtf markup but not TLF markup.
So you need to create a custom clipboard to paste a rtf markup. It's a large feature for you, because you need a tlf-rtf converter in your custom clipboard.
    TLF Custom Clipboard Example:

  • Appear flashing line on the screen during work

I bought Macbook Air since 1st July 14. I found the flash line appear on screen during work but it's just shot line at the first and It appears just few secs. So I thought it's not too serious to me. Till now the line is seem more longer and appear frequently. Then I decide to take it to Service centre. They said my screen is not in its position. It's just a bit, If you don't look at it exactly, you won't notice it. I don't know what happen. It's usually as it was on fist day I bought it, never be fallen it. It's still in the good condition.  They fixed my problem by re-fit my screen but after I use it again I still found that flash line. what should I do? Now my air got the scratch on the screen edge from re-fitted it.  I really disappoint.

I'm assuming by "flash line" you mean there's a horizontal or vertical line randomly appearing on your screen? If that's the case I've seen that on laptops before. If its an intermittent issue try to move the screen forwards and backwards on its hinge to see if you can find one spot where that line almost always appears. You should have an issue with the cable connection to the main logic board, or the cable itself could be malfunctioning.
Also what exactly did they do when they "re-fit" your screen? Did they simple check the connectors, or actually dissemble the computer and resemble it? Either way if a cable is bad then it wouldn't have made a difference. You may be looking at a warranty replacement solution on this one.
