Block a program from connecting to internet

Hello! Hey, does anyone know how to block certain program from connecting to the internet? I got my firewall turned on, it blocks incoming connections, but I want is this program (or several ones) do not attempt or block them from connecting or send information anywhere in the internet.

Firefox says that I have a firewall that prevents me from connecting to Internet?

I´ve used Firefox for a while now and I was really happy until now it just won´t work any more. When i try to connect to Internet with firefox I get a message "Connection failed" My firewall is preventing me from connecting according Firefox. In Firefox 3.6.4 and later the default connection settings have been changed to "Use the system proxy settings".

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select ''No Proxy'
Another possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

Firefox crash stops Safari from connecting to internet

Since my Firefox 2.0.0.9 crashed last week, I have had very odd problems with my WiFi (Earthlink through an Apple Airport). Network Diagnostics says everything is okay, but Safari can no longer connect to the internet, and after Firefox crashes I can not even send Apple an error report. Yet I can get online with Firefox, as I am now.
The problem apparently started EITHER when I upgraded to the latest Firefox or when I tried to place an order at <http://www.senacases.com/> (or both). After Firefox crashed multiple times while trying to place an order at <http://www.senacases.com/>, I opened Safari, which would not connect.
I ran Network Diagnostics which said everything is fine. But Firefox continually crashes trying to place an order at <http://www.senacases.com/>, Safari continues not connecting, Network Diagnostics continues to say everything is fine, and now I can't file an Apple Error Report and trying to connect to some of the library services at Notre Dame (something I have always been able to do before), makes Firefox crash.
The only other possible symptom I have noticed is that I could not connect to a Late Show video this morning. Otherwise, I can browse the web in Firefox, I can pick up my email with Entourage, etc.
How do I fix this?

Problems with the downloaded programs from sites on Internet

Hi,
I just recently got interested in downloading a program from the site myspace.com, but I have been interested in other programs earlier in my time as a MacBook user. Unfortunately, I have not discovered how to open them properly. What is the best way to get an understanding of how to open these non-universal programs, such as Instant messenger from myspace.com?
I would like to know if I need to find the rosetta application somehow on my applications window, because I already know now, that the rosetta application won't work yet on the instant messenger that I tried to install to my computer.
If anyone has a clue about how to get my application "Install Messenger.exe to open with rosetta, like I have read about yet don't know how to get running yet, please would you be kind to send a thread to mine on apple discussions?!
This is really confusing, and I need to be able to do the instant messenger on Myspace so that I can become good friends with my new friends on myspace!

Any applications that ends in .exe is a Windows application and cannot run natively on a Mac. The only way to run those applications would be to install Windows, either via BootCamp or one of the third-party systems such as Parallels Desktop. For any of those, you'd need to purchase a copy of Windows.

Laptop blocks another computer from connecting router.

HiI'll appreciate your help with my problem very much: in my house there is one computer that's connected to the home router with cable, and other devices that are connected via WiFi, including my laptop (ThinkPad E540). Whenever I connect to the router with my laptop it messes with the main computer connection (the one that's connected directly) Either it stops internet connection completely, or it slows it down to a point where it's impossible to use. This problem is only between my laptop and the other computer mentioned, All other devices in the house (computers, smartphones) don't block anything and are not blocked by me. As I mentioned, they are all connected via WiFi. The problem starts immediately when I connect with my laptop, and stops once I disconnect, So I'm sure my laptop is what causing the problem. It's been like that ever since I bought it. This problem is very very annoying, as many people use the computer that's blocked and I can't use my computer freely. I really hope you can help me. Thank you. [I don't speak English fluently, so please forgive me for any mistakes]

There is no way to select just a genre of apps like that. You can use restriction settings to disable the ability to install apps, and you can disable Safari - that way no active web browser and no ability to download and install any apps. Apps already installed that use data access will still run just fine.

Dynadock u3.0 latest drivers prevent Google chrome from connecting to internet

I am using the Dynadock u3.0 on a Toshiba u845w-s400 and a 17R Dell. Both have Win 7, 64bit. When I initially let the windows find the drivers and figure things itself, Google Chrome worked just fine with Dynadock. The computers told me that I should install the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website and I did as suggested. After that, Chrome stopped working on both computers. Google Chrome opens up but when I type an address, it never executes. It just tries to load the page with nothing and then eventually gives up. Firefox and IE work perfectly fine with no other issues associated with printers or two external monitors or sound. I do not know what to do. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome with no luck. I generated new user folder under Chrome and that did not work either. I even rolled computers back to a previous date and reinstalled dynadock drivers with no luck. I would really appreciate any help on this matter as I have to use Chrome.

Can i block my phone from connecting to a network extender?

Hi everyone. One of my neighbors has recently installed a network extender. It seems that i am on the fringe of its coverage an now 99% of my calls and my friends calls drop after 1-2 seconds. When i place a call or answer i get the double beep then it said call failed. This is very annoying as i had coverage in my house. I now use my land line more than ever because my cellphone has become useless.
I called Verizon and they said that my only option was to buy my own extender for 299.. a joke. If this continues i may just have to cancel my account and choose another provider.

Hi Louis, my name is Johnnatan and I am part of the Small business Support community. You can´t block any device by the name, however you can block devices using it mac-address. Go Firewall> Access Control>Mac Filtering in this section you can specify the mac address of the devices and block them.

Help blocking smart devices from using VPN

Hello,
I am looking for a solution to block smart devices from connecting to our network via VPN. Our current VPN solution is ASA5520 and we are using Cisco ACS for user authentication. We use Cisco VPN client only, no anyconnect or SSL VPN.
Managment is looking for a way we can stop smart devices from using VPN clients to connect and only allow laptops/desktops to connect.
Does anyone have a way we can do this via ACS or another method?

My mac connects to the Internet fine, but Sarfari, chrome, and Firefox will not work. Nor will programs that connect to the internet

This problem has been going on for a few days. my computer connects to the internet fine and runs fine, but none of my Internet browsers will work. I have deleted all my history, cache, cookies etc. For all browsers. I have also made sure that i have no proxies on and that no firewall is blocking my Internet. I have ran virus scans to look for malware and nothing comes up... I'm very confused.
For chrome I get errors like "err_socket_not_connected", "err_connection_closed", and "err_empty_response"
for safari it just says "safari can't open the page because safari can't establish a secure connection to the server"
