Block attacker only if target is specific host only

I want to do the following:
Only if the target of the attack is MailSrv
and the RR > 85
--->block attacker
If target is any other host -->
don't block
===========
My problem is that I cannot specify the dst IP in the event action override.
So my only choice was:
event action override: if RR > 85 block
but this makes block if attack is against ANY host, not MailSrv only.

Hi
Are you already using value target rating for your Mail server?
If you not, then assign a critical host value, doing that will rise the risk rating and fire the block action.
The other targets will have a RR < 85.
Remember the RR depend of 3 parameters, Severity of the alarm, fidelity value and VALUE TARGET RATING
I hope this help (rate if it does)

    Help me!

    Hi Lukas,
    I think the problem is caused by differenet drivers for the CAN communication.
    NI provides two driver for CAN: NI-CAN and NI-XNET.
    NI-CAN is the outdated driver which is not longer used by new hardware. NI replaced the NI-CAN driver with NI-XNET some years ago, which supports CAN, LIN and the FLEXRAY communication protocol.

    In order to fix this problem I have formatted my PXI and I have installed the following SW from the iPC:
    3. NI_CAN 2.7.3
    NI CAN is the outdated driver. I think that you should try to install NI-XNET instead of NI-CAN on your PXI-System, to get rid of the error message.

  • WRT54G: How do I limit access to specific ports, only to local IP's

    Using a WRT54G with Windows XP, and I've setup a web server that I'm still testing. Until I understand the security better, I want to limit access from outside IP's to the port that it's running on, but NOT limit access from the outside to services running on other ports. Is there a way to block a range of IP addresses (or conversely, only permit access for a limited range of IP addresses) to a specific port? So for example (assuming server's on Port 99, and IP address to the outside world is 99.99.99.99: Port 99: Blocked IP Range: 0.0.0.0-99.99.99.98, and 99.99.99.100-255.255.255.255 - OR Port 99: Allowed IP Range: 99.99.99.99 Alternatively, I would be interested to permit access to the web server port, only for certain MAC addresses. Is this pretty secure, and if so, how can this be done? I've poked around the router settings and spent a good deal of time researching this; any help would be greatly appreciated...

    Why do you want to block IP addresses:  "IP Range: 0.0.0.0-99.99.99.98, and 99.99.99.100-255.255.255.255" ?   This is everybody on the web, except your router!    If you really want to block all these people, just unplug your router from your Internet connection.  That is a block that cannot be hacked!
    Normally a server is assigned a fixed LAN IP address.  This address must be outside the DHCP server range of your router, and it cannot end in 0, 1, or 255.
    Next you forward a port (for example, 99) to the server's fixed LAN IP address.
    Data arriving at the Internet port of your WRT54G for port 99 will then be forwarded to your server.  If you have other Internet services (i.e. server B) running on port 1297, then data that arrives at the Internet port of your WRT54G for port 1297 will be directed to server B.   Assuming that you only have port 99 and port 1297 open, then any other unrequested data (for any other port) that arrives at the Internet port of your WRT54G will simply be ignored (and thereby blocked).    If you connect another computer to a LAN port of the WRT54G, connect to the Internet, and request data, then when that data arrives at the Internet port of the WRT54G, it will be allowed to pass, and it will be routed to your computer.
    In summary, by default, all router ports are closed.  The only way to get data through the router is either to open a port (using port forwarding, or alternatively, the UPnP function), or for someone (or some program) on the LAN to request data from the web.
    The router cannot limit the use of a port by MAC address.    When you open a port on your router, you are opening your server to invasion from anyone on the Internet.  So, your server must be setup to protect itself.   Rather than limiting server use by MAC address (which can be faked), your server should be setup to require a user name and password.

  • QEMU host-only networking using tap devices

    I'm trying to setup host-only networking on my QEMU VM running Arch (actually, the Archiso; there is no Arch installation present yet). A short summary:
    What I want
    connect to the host from the guest system
    connect to the guest from the host system
    using a tap device (to avoid user-mode networking) on a network bridge (to connect guest and host)
    Eventually, I want to run an AMP stack on the VM for web development. (Let's, for now, ignore the fact that I might need an internet connection later on to install packages)
    What I tried
    I first set up a tap device:
    ip tuntap add dev tap0 mode tap
    and then a network bridge:
    BRIDGE='qemubr0'
    brctl addbr ${BRIDGE}
    brctl addif ${BRIDGE} tap0
    ip link set up dev ${BRIDGE}
    The relevant parameters I run QEMU with are:
    qemu-system-x86_64 \
    -net nic \
    -net tap,ifname=tap0,script=no
    QEMU starts without any errors, but trying to ping the host from within the VM results in:
    -- VM:
    # ping 10.0.2.2
    connect: Network is unreachable
    (FYI: 10.0.2.2 is supposed to be the default IP address of the host system (?) according to http://wiki.qemu.org/Documentation/Networking )
    Relevant logs/outputs

    I must admit that my theoretical and practical knowledge on networking is quite limited, so this might be trivial. I'd be happy about any hints in the right direction. Thanks

    You are scratching your right ear with the left hand, so to speak.
    Let's say on the host, you have a bridge, br0, with an appropriate IP, serving as a gateway (created with your favorite network manager), and you'd like to start a VM whose virtual drive is arch-x86_64, then this is all you need to do:
    $ qemu-system-x86_64 -enable-kvm -drive file=arch-x86_64,if=virtio -net nic,model=virtio -net bridge,br=br0
    inside the VM you'll have eth0 (or whatever), and on the host -- tap0 plugged into the bridge. This is all courtesy of /usr/lib/qemu/qemu-bridge-helper which is a suid binary.

  • How do I target a specific frame of an .swf from an HTML document

    I am creating a site half of the site if Flash application and the other half is HTML based, I can link to the HTML pages from by Flash site, but I can't seem to find out how to target a specific withing my Flash site from the HTML, no matter what I do it only links to the 1st frame of the .swf. Can somebody help me please.
    I am using AS2 for the flash portion and Dreamwaver CS3 for the HTML (or CSS).

    Sorry, I don't know what AS2 is .
    If you're using Flash or Swishmax, the workflow would go something like this:
    Copy your original work file.  Delete portions you don't need.  Save as project 1. Export as project1.swf.
    Open original work file. Delete other portions you don't need. Save as project 2. Export as project2.swf, and so on.

  • Disable Portable Home Directories on specific hosts for all users?

    Hello All,
    Would it be possible to block any and all Portable Home Directory services for specific hosts? Something like "MobileAccountNeverAsk-<user>" but for the whole workstation? We have a network with both portable and stationary machines. I'd like our users to be able to use all machines, going portable on the MacBook and not bothering with syncing when logged into iMacs or Mac Pros.
    The Open Directory servers are running Snow Leopard (for now) and all clients are running Lion.
    Thanks
    Paul

    Darren,
    Yes. The clients are Solaris 10 as well. And the domain is the same on both server and clients.
    The files should be owned by real users.
    If a user ssh's into the server directly, the permissions display properly. But on the clients it is nobody. Other than the permission displaying wrong, I haven't noticed any permission-related restrictions on the clients.

  • Netflix on iPad with restrictions set to only allow "Specific Websites Only"

    I have Netflix app installed on my child's iPad.  I have restrictions in place on the iPad too - Website restrictions set to "Specific Websites Only".
    When I do this the netflix app just spins (never gets to the Netflix login).
    If I remove restrictions to allow "All Websites" Netflix works.
    I also allowed www.netflix.com as an Allowed Website.  Also set Safari "Block Cookies" to never to see if this would help.  No luck.
    I want Netflix to work, but I also want the restrictions on the iPad to be set to "Specific Websites Only".
    Netflix support said (tried them first):
    Just spoke with my team who informed me that they have received a few of these complaints. The Netflix app was introduced on the Ipad as a partnership with Apple. We do not have much control over the function of of the permission on the device. They have asked that you reach out to Apple to determine if there is a work around.
    Anyone know how to fix this???

    hello msreyes,
    after countless hours of googling for answers i came up with a solution that works on my situation...it could work for you, its not 100% kids-proof (if your child is tech-savvy then maybe this wont work for you but anyways...)
    first step go Settings/ General/ Safari and set your search engine
    then Go to Settings/ General/ Restrictions/ Enter your passcode, after you set your restrictions (obviously this step differ from parents to kids age) just for reference here are my screenshots of how i managed the kids phone
    ok, so now to the point...next i checked "Limit Adult Content"
    and finally you type as many "search engine" and "social media"  websites you can possible find. " i know that could be quite allot of URL's but by you having Google as "default  serarch enigine and also having www.google.com in th the "NEVER ALLOW" section you kind of take away the "avility" to easly browse Safary,
    so say your child types facebook in safari search bar it will show a " website is restricted" message, thus not allowing google or any websites you strict "for that matter" to let your child roam free in the internet world.
    and to wrap things up, you can now use Netflix's app in you iPhone. and perhaps your child will never find a walk around glitch..

  • How to execute a specific function only in DEBUG and AdHoc modes

    Hi,
    What i would like to do is a simple button with an action method, This button is initialized, created, assigned to its action method and shown ONLY in Debug and AdHoc modes. So as a developer or tester, i can see the button, but in the release, the client won't be able to see that button.
    What i did so far is the following:
    -In my project-->Build Settings Tab, i set the Debug values to 1 in both Debug and Adhoc, like this:
    -Then i opened up the prefix.pch file, and there, i am blocked and i don't know what to do.
    Basically, my action method is something like this:
    UIButton btnSwitch=[[UIButton alloc]init];
    //Etc...
    The above code should be called in a specific file (The UIViewController class which should contain the button).
    How can i do that, i mean, how can i tell my application to execute that code in a specifi file only in DEBUG and Adhoc modes.
    Thanx in advance.

  • Detecting When a Non-Blocking Socket Is Closed by the Remote Host

    Hi,
    Using NIO non blocked sockets how do I detect when a Non-Blocking Socket Is Closed by the Remote Host?
    What I have read is:
    The only way to detect that the remote host has closed the connection is to attempt to read or write from the connection. If the remote host properly closed the connection, read() will return -1. If the connection was not terminated normally, read() and write() will throw an exception.
    I have written a server test program using NIO and an applet connecting to the server program via sockets.
    When I after a successful connection shuts down the browser following happens: The code below comes in an endless loop though mySelector.select returns 0 every time. (The selector is registered for OP_READ). size = 1.
    while (true) {
    int n = mySelector.select();
    int size = mySelector.keys().size();
    if (n == 0) continue;
    Is this an expected result?
    How do I get to know what client has lost connection?
    My environment:
    W2000
    java 1.4.1 build 1.4.1_01-b01
    Browser used: IE 5.0
    Many thanks for your help on this matter!
    Regards Magnus Wistrm

    What you're doing looks OK to me.
    I wonder whether your thread is being interrupted by Thread.intterupt() somewhere. Try putting a Thread.interrupted() before the select call.
    Sylvia.

  • Limiting connections from specific host to vips Ace 4710

    Hello,
    Do you guys know if its possible in the ace to limit connections from a specific host?
    For example. if host X does Y connections to one of the vips on the ace, it will be blocked.

    Hi Stefan,
    That is not possible on ACE. You can define the limits on servers in serverfarm itself but for a particular HOST there is no such provision.

  • Internet access to the guest system for Host-Only configuration

    Hello,
    I have a windows host linux guest vBox environment and it's configured as host-only. How can I enable internet access within the guest? I am towards the end of a RAC installation and upon running buildcluster.sh, it says the recommended RPM "oracle-validated" not installed or has unsatisfied dependencies. It seems i have quite a few RPMs need to download and thus prefer to be able to connect to the internet within the guest so i can do it from the Oracle yum server.
    Thanks,
    Harry

    Hi,
    this won't work so easiliy with a "Host Only" network.
    You either need a bridges network or a NAT network.
    Easiest thing probably will be to add another interface (network) to the VM and assigned it as bridged.
    Then download/update oracle-validated and remove the interface again.
    This way, you don't need to change anything on the server.
    Regards
    Sebastian

  • How do I set a Phase Listener to only run for a specific page?

    How do I set a Phase Listener to only run for a specific page?
    I understand that a Phase Listener runs for ever page in the application, however I want a phase listener to only run for one page at the beginning of the application.
    I discovered I can't use a Filter, because the JSF Application instance always returns null.
    Thus, I thought a Phase Listener would be a good approach.
    Thoughts?

  • VirtualBox 4.0.2 internal DHCP problem in Host-only mode?

    Hi,
    dos anyone have experience problems with VirtualBox 4.0.2 internal DHCP not working when running Oracle Linux and a Host-Only adapter.
    More detailed described my problem is that Oracle Linux don't get a ip from the internal DHCP server om my system. My host is Win 7 (64 bit) and Guest Oracle Linux (64 bit). I have read that there are several ohers who experienced the same problem with the open source version, but that patching the Guest Tools to 4.0.3 helped them. Sadly this is not the case for me. Any suggestions are welcome and thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your reply - my problem is that the build in dhcp server is not working for some reason and i dont't gen any ip address assigned. I can see from the VBoxManager that it is running, but i can't get i contact with it from the linux guest.

  • Have been advised by my email provider (recently blocked account requiring password reset) that they will only reset the password after a proven anti viru and malware scan has been done on ipad and iphone. Is this necessary and if so what do i use

    Have been advised by my email provider (recently blocked account requiring password reset) that they will only reset the password after a proven anti virus and malware scan has been done on ipad and iphone. Is this necessary and if so what do i use

    As KP has pointed out, there actually aren't any anti-virus programs in the App Store. There are a few that allow you to scan e-mail or stuff like that, and a few that provide you with information about malware and new threats for other systems. But none are available that can scan your iOS device for malware, because the security restrictions in iOS do not permit any apps to have that kind of access to anything. Which means that you also cannot be infected with a virus (unless you have jailbroken your device).
    If your account got compromised, that had nothing whatsoever to do with your iPad. Someone simply hacked it remotely. Happens all the time. It's really amazing that, in this day and age, e-mail providers are so ignorant of technology and how their own systems get compromised that they would try to require you to run software that does not exist!

  • Virtualbox(PUEL) 3.1.6 Host-Only Adaptor connectivity problems

    Hi there! I'm a new Arch Linux user and i'm LOVING it ... I've hit one problem I can't seem to get Host-Only Adaptor networking working with VirtualBox (PUEL) with any virtual machines e.g. VM's can't communicate to anything Host machine, router etc, I've set static addresses for all my Vitual machines.
    (Host machine)
    /etc/conf.d/bridges

    # For each bridge interface declared in INTERFACES (in rc.conf), declare
    # a bridge_${IF} variable that contains the real ethernet interfaces that
    # should be bridged togeether.
    # Then list the bridge interface name in the BRIDGE_INTERFACES array.
    # example:
    # in /etc/rc.conf:
    # eth0="eth0 up"
    # eth1="eth1 up"
    # br0="br0 192.168.0.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 up"
    # INTERFACES=(lo eth0 eth1 br0)
    # in /etc/conf.d/bridges

    I need to use VirtualBox on an almost daily basis for work... I would highly appreciate you help so thanks in advance!

    Hi, I'm not sure I fully understand your issue.
    Are you telling VirtualBox don't allow you to add a Host-Only Adaptor via main menu File -> Net -> Add button? I once hit this problem and was lost some days because I come from the *buntu-land and all this configuration was nearly automatic there. If this is your problem you should first download and install the rigth AUR package, tha one working for me is virtualbox_bin now at latest version 3.1.8-1, you will need to install also virtualbox-additions. After you installed VirtualBox follow the instructions provided by packagers:
    IMPORTANT NOTES:
    - Run "vbox_build_module" as root every time your kernel is upgraded, to
      compile the module for the new kernel version.
    - Add your user to the vboxusers group:
         gpasswd -a USERNAME vboxusers
    - Add "vboxdrv" to the MODULES array in your "/etc/rc.conf"
    - Add "vboxnetflt" to MODULES if you want Host Interface networking.
    - Add "vboxnetadp" to MODULES if you want Host-Only networking.
    - If USB does not work for you out-of-the-box, add the following line
      to "/etc/fstab":
         none /proc/bus/usb usbfs auto,busgid=108,busmode=0775,devgid=108,devmode=0664 0 0
    Once you do that you'll be smoooooth 8-D
