Block Cookies "Always" doesn't block anything

So I just signed on in here with the Block Cookies "Always" switched on.
Isn't that button supposed to block all cookies? Or am I missing something here?  Because that particular setting doesn't seem to block any cookies at all when I am surfing sites.
Thanks

So I guess nobody is bothered by this, that it's supposed to ALWAYS block it, completely, as the button says, but it doesn't block anything at all?
I was just trying it out to see what happens when you try to surf cleanly without acquiring any added information such as cookies while just browsing without signing in to any sites - and in fact, even with the button on ALWAYS to block cookies all the time, I am still able to sign-in. That makes no sense to me, to have that button then, as an option.
Somebody please explain to me what that button is for. Are there any experts on here that can tell me why it's even there if it does nothing?
Thank you.

  • Why does Safari still accept cookies, even when I put Block Cookies "Always"

    Why does Safari still accept cookies, even when I put Block Cookies "Always",? There are always a list of every website with cookies. Is that just a record of what could've been accepted or its a bogus feature that still accepts regardless of what feature is on?

    Apple has rolled over users since OS X 10.6.8 when this issue first appeared.
    If you want a browser that actually CARES about it's users, then install Firefox, it's the only one that does.

  • Why is it when I choose "block cookies always"  I still get lots of cookies showing in my preferences even though I clear them after every use

    Why is it when I choose "block cookies always"  I still get lots of cookies showing up when I look at my preferences.  I always clear my cookies after each use but I don't understand how I can get any at all if they are supposed to block cookies always?  I have a desk top Mac and am using safari.

    Safari caches cookies in memory and will sometimes write them back to disk after they've been deleted, for reasons known only to the developers. After deleting cookies, quit Safari immediately, then relaunch it. The cookies should now be gone for good, or until you visit the same sites again.

  • Pl sql block doesn't do anything

    I have a pl/sql block and it doesn't do anything why?
    Code is as follows:
    DECLARE @day varchar(10)
    BEGIN

    PRINT @day
    END;
    Any ideas would be highly appreciated.

    It is Oracle 11g DB. Not SQL server.Your Database is Oracle but your code is T-SQL and not PL/SQL
    DECLARE
      @day varchar(10)
    BEGIN
      set @day='select to_char('sysdate','DAY') from dual;
      PRINT @day
    END;
    / You cannot just copy past a T-SQL code into Oracle and expect it to Run.
    You need to stop writing code and start learning PL/SQL. You can start with [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14261/toc.htm]Oracle Database PL/SQL Users Guide and Reference
    A PL/SQL code would look like this
    set serveroutput on
    delcare
       my_day varchar2(10);
    begin
       select to_char(sysdate, 'DAY') into my_day
         from dual;
       dbms_output.put_line(my_day);
    end;

  • Blocking Cookies doesn't work in Safari 5.1.1

    Apparently Safari has a bug whereby setting Preferences: Privacy: Block Cookies: Always  does NOT in fact block cookies at all.
    This is in Version 5.1.1 (7534.51.22). I don't know about 5.1.2, as I haven't updated to it because of a well-known bug in it which breaks USPS label printing.
    I have seen mention of this bug going back several months. Does anyone know if Apple intends to fix it?

    just a reminder to add to all the discussions...
    Safari 5.1.2 on Lion still does not work.
    Regardless of the options chosen for cookies, all cookies are being accepted.  When is this going to be fixed?!

  • Blocked cookies showing in Storage Inspector

    Although all cookies are blocked in Firefox 36, the Storage Inspector panel shows that some sites still put cookies in my browser. These cookies are only visible in the Storage Inspector panel and not in the Cookies window accessible through the Privacy tab of the Options window. As far as I could see up to now this happens only for certain sites such as Amazon, Youtube, Dailymotion, Mozilla Support etc.
    Can anyone please explain why the Storage Inspector shows cookies while the Cookies window doesn't show anything?
    Thank you.

    Note that the storage inspector shows more than cookies and also includes third-party cookies from other domains.
    You always need to remove existing cookies when you make changes to allow/block lifetime settings for a domain or allow/block third-party cookies.
    Extensions that manage cookies can complicate this.

  • Safari will NOT block cookies, ever

    Safari will NOT block cookies, ever.  No matter what they always show up (even from advertisers on a particular site) - I have reset safari, deleted its preference file, re-installed the OS, tried a different user, tried as root user - all with same same result.  I tried to re-install Safari but was told by the OS that I need to have at least 10.6.7 installed and I am currently running 10.6.8!
    I have an 27" iMac running 10.6.8 with all updates, Safari 5.05.  I am also running VirusBarrier X6 10.6.12.  VirusBarrier has a cookie feature as well but it doesn't block cookies.  I have completely disabled VirusBarrier and still get the same results.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

    This is true.  The "block cookies always" setting in the Privacy tab is not 100% effective (evidently Apple programmers have their own definition of "always").
    There will not be a solution from Apple. They don't care. Users that want to block cookies are almost surely poor consumers and probably troublemakers too.
    dfp mbp's fix will work but what a pain.
    It used to be one was willing to pay the Apple "tax" for a superior product, but that was then ...

  • HT5568 cookies are not being blocked

    This ***** so bad, the cookies on Safari are not being blocked on my Mac Lion 10. 7.5? What's going on. I can be on for 2 minutes and not visit a website but still have 45 cookies including one saved to my local cache. I though Macs were supposed to be better than this.

    Do you have a question?
    If it's about blocking cookies, then may I assume you have disabled all cookies via Safari preferences; that the browser is set to block cookies always?
    If you're concerned about tracking (I don't know why you're asking about cookies), you could choose to enable and use Private Browsing option.
    Realize too that there are other and very effective ways to track clients without cookies; whether using Flash Cookies or so-called super-cookies or via EFF's Panopticlick techniques.

  • Safari don't block cookies / security issue?

    Hi,
    after updating to Lion I noticed a security issue on Safari:  'Block cookies = Always' don't prevent storing of cookies.
    Can anyone confirm this?
    Thanks.

    This security hole seems to be a problem for many users:
    - Never accept cookies button does not work I am still receiving all cookies
    - I have safari 5.05 i always use safari with the cookies set to never except. i see that safari 5.05 keep excepting cookies when i have cookies set to never except. any one has same problem? is it normal for safari to do that? i don't think so.
    - Clicking to never accept cookies does not work.
    Please, try to fix it.

  • Safari Not Blocking Cookies

    Hey, so I found this issue a few days ago where I noticed that Safari is not blocking cookies. General > Safari > Block Cookies > Always. And despite having it on "Always", cookies still manage to pass through as if I hadn't changed the option.  I got this issue on iOS 7 and the 7.0.2 update didn't fix it. Anyone else have this issue too or a fix?

    I am having the same issue when developing a website, for some reason when set to block always, cookies are still set.

  • Setting privacy pane to always block cookies on my brand new MacBook pro doesn't seem to work

    Setting privacy pane in Safari to always block cookies on my brand new MacBook pro doesn't seem to work. None of the settings seem to make any difference. What gives?

    Are you not able to start aperture on your old macbook? If you are able to then you can retrieve your serial number by clicking on 'about aperture'
    If not then it's a call to apple as the above posts suggest. I did when I lost mine, bear in mind though, they may ask for your original receipt as they did with me and I had to fax it.

  • After upgrading my ipad to ios7, the block cookies setting only has one choice: "always."

    After upgrading my ipad to ios7, the "block cookies" setting for Safari only has only one choice: "always."  No option exists for "never block" or "allow third parties."  Needless to say, this stops me from visiting a variety of websites.   Any ideas on how to get those other options to display?

    I met this question in a iPhone touch, at last we found the device was controlled by MDM profile before upgrade. After removing the Configuration Profiles in [Generals][Profiles], another two option display.
