Block folders from downloaded

Hi,
I use Apple Mail to sync to GMail via IMAP. The only problem is that it also downloads my spam folder. The spam doesn't show up in my Inbox under "Mailboxes" but just under the folders list under "GMAIL". Is there a way to keep Mail from synchronizing this folder? I know by default most programs only sync the Inbox folder.

I was wondering if there was something that could be done on the computer-side to ignore that folder. I know that on my Ubuntu machine when I use Thunderbird it only looks at the "inbox" folder unless I go and try to open up the other ones.

I'm curious as to what everyone is using to block users from downloading certain file types (.exe, msi, zip, bat, etc) from the internet? We had websense, now barracuda for a web filter but have major issues with filtering downloads from the internet. The main issues is filtering SSL sites.

The WSA has a feature called Object Filtering which allows admin's to configure access policy parameters to block certain file types from being downloaded through the WSA. To apply the same settings to HTTPS requests the WSA would need to decrypt the request.

TS3274 What setting is blocking me from downloading itunes

What setting is blocking safari from downloading iTunes on my iPad 4?

iTunes is already included in the iOS software so you already have it on your iPad.
You can't download the Application using Safari nor can you delete the App from your iPad.
Can you verify that you have it enabled in your settings?

Internet explorer is blocking firefox from downloading

I was able to do the download but immediately got a message from internet explorer that it blocked my download. I click on run but nothing happens so can't get past that point. I am having so much trouble with IE that I have got to get with firefox. Thanks

How do I block the ability to "save as source/quicktime movie" a streamed movie?
I have searched high and low on the net and found a technical note mentioning something about setting a nsav bit. But this seems a bit technical and im sure, as this is an Apple product, there is someeasy way to do this.

2. How to save a QuickTime movie (in some cases) even if the movie does not allow saving
There are a couple of ways in which a movie can be protected from copying. First, if the movie is embeded in a web page, the author can set KIOSKMODE=True in the EMBED tag. If QuickTime plug-in sees this setting, it will disable the save options, even if QuickTime Pro is installed. However, in such cases one can view the source of the web page (as described above) and use the browser's "Save as…" function to save the movie.
However, some movies are saved in such a way that even if you manage to save the movie to you hard drive, if you then make any changes to the movie, QuickTime Player will not allow you to save the edited movie. An error message will appear that reads: "This movie does not allow saving."
Video editing programs like Cleaner allow authors to save movies in such a way that further changes to the movie are disallowed. When the author saves the movie, he simply enables the "disallow saving" check box. Some filmmakers chose to do this to prevent others from altering their work. Others chose this option to discourage users from making local copies of movies viewed online.
There are many reasons why an author might wish to control the use of his work in this way, but there are also valid Fair Use rights that must be weighed against such controls. There are practical reasons that it may be necessary to alter a movie. For example, some QuickTime movies that contain multiple tracks in addition to the video and audio track do not play smoothly on older computers because of the added computing power required to process the additional tracks. With the extra tracks removed, such movies play more smoothly. As an added benefit, they also occupy less space on disk.
A good example of this is the movie trailer for The Two Towers. The full screen version of this movie trailer, entitled (TheTwoTowers_fs.l.mov) contains eight different tracks. If you download the movie to you hard disk and open it in the QuickTime Player, you can see the list of tracks by choosing "Show movie properties" from the Movie menu. This particular file includes a border on the top and bottom, splash screens for the beginning and end of the movie, and other tracks ("sprite" and "tween" tracks for a fade-in/out effect, a customized progress bar and customized start and exit controls).
QuickTime requires extra CPU cycles to display these tracks. On slower machines, this can often make the difference between a good viewing experience and a bad one. The only two tracks that are essential for this particular movie are the video and audio tracks. Deleting the other six tracks makes the movie play much more smoothly ("Delete Tracks…" in the Edit menu).
The slimmed-down version of the movie still contains the full 640x272 resolution video, and plays much more smoothly on older machines. Unfortunately, because the creator of this movie turned on the "disallow saving" option, it is not possible to save the movie after deleting these six tracks.
The "disallow saving" option is stored as a flag in the QuickTime movie file itself. The QuickTime player honors this flag and disables options like saving and copying when a movie file with this option enabled is open. It should be obvoious that for such movies, it makes no difference whether QuickTime Pro is installed - it will not be possible to use QuickTime Player to save them.
The best way to circumvent this problem would be to determine the structure of the disallow saving flag. Once the flag's structure is known, it would be possible to write a program to change the value of the flag in a QuickTime movie. I am not aware of any program that will perform this function. Until such a program is available, it will not be possible to save a movie with the disallow saving flag enabled.

Why is Windows 7 blocking me from downloading Firefox?

When I go through the entire process, including completing the execution of the installation wizard, I get a message that Firefox is being blocked by some kind of security setting (unknown), or maybe a firewall.

It sounds like the your internet security settings could be blocking the download.

Though that article was written for not being able to download files in Firefox, that section also applies for not being able to download executable files in IE.

First direct link in google search causes "Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading"

I've disabled both the Adobe Reader Add-on and the Adobe PDF Link Helper to force IE 8 to open PDF's outside of the browser i.e in the stand alone reader application.
After doing this I did some testing, a google search for "test pdf" produces numerous direct links to pdf files. If i click any of them it causes IE to display the message bar "Internet Explorer blocked this from downloading files to your computer, click her for options.." When I click on the message bar, it appears to download the file , then nothing happens. Next time I click the link it opens in the stand alone reader just fine and so do all PDF files, until the browser is restarted or a new tab is started.
This only seems to happen in IE8. IE9 doesn't have the problem.
If I open a web page that has a link to a PDF that always work.
Help? I can't roll this out to prod. Users will get very confused...

You actually trashed the whole Internet Preferences Folder including all your preferences still in there?
Actually, you were suppose to just trash the Internet Preference file/document which is inside the folder.
See if updating to the latest & last version of IE for Mac will help.

Rebuild your desktop w/extensions off. Use Techtool Lite or Trash*Desktop - may delete Finder comments to rebuild your desktop w/extensions off. Does a better job than manually & you avoid all the finger gymnatics. You just have to hold down the shift key to shut off extensions.
Restart to turn the extensions back on again & empty the trash.

Blocked from downloading

I'd like to request a reset of download attempts regarding my recent purchase of Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 (Order Number: 9865592759). Reason being my company firewall settings earlier prevented me from downloading the 7z files which led me to make multiple futile attempts. I was then able to initiate download of the 7z files using my home Internet but I have been blocked from doing so due to >10 attempts. I then contacted Digital River (Nora, Email ID: 29692103) who replied me to contact Adobe instead. Hope I can get your customer support soon, as I have not managed to fully download the software even once after purchasing it on 20 Apr 2015.

Just drag the file from the Download folder to the folder of your choice in Finder. If you are using Safari you can designate a new default download destination in Safari>Preferences>General tab, 'Save Downloads to...'. Other browsers should have a similar option in their preferences.

I don't know who/what Indira Budiman is, but you can contact iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
If it's an app then does it allow you to make in-app purchases within it ? If it does then you can turn off in-app purchases via Settings > General > Restrictions on your device.

Why have my emails been blocked from downloading?

The email below was sent to me saying I have been automatically removed from the CCLIST1 list (Calorie Count Monday) as a result of repeated delivery error reports from my mail system and indicating my email account does not exist and that I may be permanently unable to receive emails on my OS and iOS devices.
This is the second time in three months it has happened. At that time I couldn't find any help on the web or from computer-savy friends regarding how and why it happened or how to rectify the situation. After a week or two my email was permanently blocked and I had to change my email address and contact a couple hundred people and businesses with the new address -- many hours were spent doing this. I could still read my emails and send them on my service provider's website, CenturyLink. This was very helpful as many of the web accounts I had required email address verifications before they would accept account information changes.
My internet/email service provider tried to help by having me redo setting up the Mac Mail account on my iMac. That didn't work. I also went online to Apple to again use the method for resetting the Mail account as well as look for answers.
I received the email below yesterday, so hopefully I have some time to solve the problem before my email is blocked from downloading to my devices.
Any advice and step-by-step directions on rectifying this problem would be very much appreciated.

I read a few more discussions on this problem elsewhere on-line with the suggestion that I had a bug on my computer that hijacked my email account to send emails elsewhere (not that I had any clue on how to discover that on my computer).
I followed the suggestion to access my email account on-line and change my password and make it stronger. I did that and was able to get my emails downloaded to my computer and other devices.
I'm pretty sure that my original problem started when I unsubscribed from the Calorie Counter on-line newsletter by pressing a link at the bottom of the email I received from them. A screen came up that said I was unsubscribed and then disappeared in a flash.The experience seemed odd and weird compared to other times when I've unsubscribed from something.
As a test I resubscribed to the newsletter and then unsubscribed. I was directed to one of CCounter's internal web pages and went through a couple of steps in order to finish the process... all very professional and obviously on the newsletter's website.
So the lesson I learned was have a strong password for my email and change it occasionally. And do the same for other accounts that are password protected.

You are assuming that no one ever sells an iPhone. The registration with your serial number has nothing to do with purchases or use. Which also applies to your block.
There is now a carrier database of IMEI's in the US so whoever ends up with it will probably not be able to use it as a phone in the US. And if they restore it the phone will not activate and will become unusable.

There probably is, but it requires that you be able to use punctuation and write in sentences so that we can understand exactly what you want.
You can block others from using your Apple ID by changing your password. There is no way to erase what was already downloaded on to someone else's device, for obvious reasons,

I suddenly cannot drag a file, any file, from my Downloads folder on my Dock to my "hard drive".
I am hoping that the file that a Microsoft tech had me trash isn't the reason... I was having a problem with Excel for Mac and he had me delete a certain file that he said would disable a Lion feature that automatically opens last used docs upon launch of Excel. Thanks for any tips.

Geez, I just realized you may have missed a crucial point I made in my original post:
I cannot drag folders from my Downloads folder **on my Dock***....
which I'm sure I've read in more than one place that I should be able to do.
But then... I went to my Finder's left side menu, to Downloads, found my file there, and then did the copy and paste routine to move it to my Documents folder--it works!
One solution. Thanks to you inspiring me to dig around some more.
BUT, what about my original question? Why doesn't it work? I'm almost positive that it did at one time.

Installer failed to initialize: unable to install Photoshop CS6 from download

I'm unable to install photoshop CS6 from download. I've downloaded to required two files (Photoshop_13_LS16.7z and Photoship_13_LS16) and double clicked on the second file. This appeared to extract a number of files and folders to a newly created C:/users/lester/desktop/adobe CS6/Photoshop/ folder. I found a file called "Set-up.exe" inside the .../Adobe CS6/ folder and double clicked it. When I double click, a status bar says "initializing installer" for a few seconds, I get the following error message:

Adobe installer is already running. Please close other Adobe installers and select retry option to continue with this installation.

Nothing else is running in Windows. The adobe support advisor link is useless because the page says support advisor was discontinued. The "how to download" PDF on the download page was useless (for CD disk downloads only). Any ideas?

Thanks Jeff - I decided to do a complete reinstall of Windows because of this issue and others with unwanted popups I accidentally downloaded. Hopefully things will go smoother the third time around, just as they did a few days ago when I did install PS CS6 without any problems.
