Block page scrolling in pdf

hi all,
this is my very first post so please have indulgence
i've been wondering is there a way to disable autoscrolling in an exported pdf? what i want to achieve is an interactive multipage pdf, where pages can be turned only after pressing a dedicated button. as it is, after opening the exported pdf in acro reader, the pages can not only be turned with this button, but also by mouse scrolling or clicking anywhere on the page. can i somehow disable it?

You haven't told us what version of InDesign you're running. The answer depends on the version.
If you have InDesign CS5 or 5.5 and you choose File > Export > Adobe PDF (Interactive), you can choose the Layout (single page or scrolling) and the magnification of the initial view.
If you do not, you'll need to set it in Acrobat Pro in File > Properties after you export the PDF file.
In either case, you can't disable scrolling, you can only set the initial view. Your viewer can set whatever viewing they wish.

Retaining Two-Page Scrolling when Exporting to Interactive PDF Not Working

I'm currently trying to export from InDesign a continuous facing page PDF.
My document has four pages and is set up as pages, not spreads.
Left page is even, right is odd. Looks fine in InDesign.
I need to do Interactive due to hyperlinks, etc.
I choose Export and choose Interactive PDF
My settings are All, Pages, Fit Visible, Two-Up Continuous Facing
When it finishes and opens in Acrobat it's starting as a right, cover page. Even if I go to Two Page Scrolling/Viewing in Acrobat it shows my left-hand page starting on the right.
Is there something in Acrobat that isn't set up correctly? I'm using Adobe Cloud so latest version of all software. Thank you in advance! It's driving me crazy as it's always worked in the past.

Try turning on this setting in Acrobat:
View > Page Display > Show Cover Page in Two Page View

How do I scan multiple pages into one pdf document on a HP Envy 4501 Printer

My HP Envy 4501 Printer won't let me scan multiple pages into one pdf document.
I went to "Advanced Settings", clicked on "file" and made sure that the check box next to "Create a separate file for each scanner page" was unchecked.
When I clicked the Save button it showed the page that I scanned and showed 1/1. On the right side it had options for changing the brightness and Contrast, Rotate and Crop and "Back", "Save" and "Done" buttons, but nothing about scanning another page.
Not to mention HP's Customer Support is useless!
I'd appreciate any help I can get with this problem.

Hi BH,
I see your diagram. I just scanned something. The screen that I'm looking at right now shows the preview page and the scroll box to the left of that just like in your diagram. The screen does not show the + button nor does it show the red x button under the scroll box as in your diagram. I can't see the plus sign because it is not there.
I tried re-installing the software and drivers as you suggested but that did not have any affect.
Thank you for trying to help me with this problem but it hasn't worked, therefore I can't mark the reply "Accept as Solution".
I've noticed that on HP's support forum web page there is only 1 solved request for assistance. That doesn't give me much confidence in HP.
Please reply back to this post to let me know if there is anything else that I can try or if you know someone else at HP that can help.
If I don't here back from you, I'm returning this HP Envy 4501 Printer to get my money back to use it to buy a printer from one of HP's competitors.

Issue when scrolling a pdf - There was a problem reading this document (135)

This is when the PDF is created and rendered/previewed from Acrobat Reader and the issue is there for latest acrobat version too.
When you open the PDF in Acrobat Reader and then when you scroll it and if you have more that one page in the PDF, it gives an error saying "There was a problem reading this document (135)".
Is this a known issue in Acobat? Any resolution? Reinstalling acrobat version didn't help.

As you are able to view PDF I had provided, the issue seems to be PDF specific.
So when you scroll the PDF and reach to a page where Adobe Reader cannot read it, the error comes. I am sure the problem lies the way PDF was created. Can you describe how the PDF was created?

How to download the blocked ALV output to PDF file.
I am able to download the BLocked ALV output in PDF format,
but the each bolck in ALV is displaying different pages of PDF.
In my report I have 4 block in 1 page, I am able to see the output in PDF but in different page.
How to avoid the Page-break in PDF.

hi,
I believe that your have 4 containers on the screen with individual ALV display. in this case, there is no way to get combined PDF output to my knowledge.
However you can use Smartform/Sapscript as output which would allow you to display ALV in blocks and also print it in one.

I can't export anymore pages file to pdf

When I try to export pages file in pdf format (ever done without problems till few hours ago!) there is an alert advising me that files name having more than 31 characters can't be saved in the destination volume. But although I cut the lenght of the file name, the alert still be. I'm blocked with any possibility to transform pages file in pdf and I need it. I also reset the mac , but nothing happened. I'm using version 4.1. As far as Pages is concerned, nothing else has happened. Everything was working normally. However, I had to uninstall Norton recently because the online Back-up that came bundled with my renewal was creating crazy log files that took up my entire hard drive (over 900 GB). I don't see how that would be related to my problems with Pages. Any insight would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Remember, most people don't have software for editing PDF files at all. They will not want to buy Acrobat just to edit your ebook.
Otherwise, I think you need to learn about form fields. This allows you to decide where it is to be typed in. You can allow filling and request editing is not allowed. You need to understand exactly what software can and can't fill in forms, and what can and can't save the result; it changes with versions of Adobe Reader.
Remember too that some software ignores your security settings anyway.

Look in the class BasicLookAndFeel. There is a definition for the UIDefaults entry "ScrollBar.focusInputMap". It is initialized with a set of keystroke definition for the input map. You can modify this definition and add a new map to the defaults map or you can create and add the map to instances of JScrollPane.

ISA550W blocks Utah courts website PDFs

We recently turned on the AntiVirus security service. We are having two problems.
First, when one of the office staff tries to access a PDF document at this location ...

... they ISA550W blocks them with the configured "Unsafe Website Access Blocked" page. We realize even the government is not invulnerable - so we've downloaded the files from an outside site and checked them with a number of different anti-virus tools. No virus found.
We found a post from about a year ago where folks were having trouble accessing files on google.com and another where the actual problem website was cisco.com. In both cases the solution appeared to be to wait until an updated signature file was available:

Is this a normal occurrence? Should it be reported some other way?
The second issue is that we tried to temporarily mitigate the problem by selecting "Notify" instead of "Notify+Drop connection" for the HTTP protocol. This does not seem to work, the user still is blocked. Are we misunderstanding what "Notify" versus "Notify+Drop connection" means?
Under the "Configuring HTTP Notification" help section it says
If you select Notify as the action for the HTTP protocol, the alert message is sent to the user.
I assumed the term "sent" was a mistake, carried over from the "Configuring Email Notifications" help section. For HTTP I would expect a popup or other prompt to warn the user before allowing them to continue.
I would appreciate any suggestions or assistance.

I actually encounter very similar issues..I run a tax and business services practice and quite often need to gain access to pdfs on various state of NY sites...Department of State, NYS Liquor Authority , NYS Department of Taxation , and the like.
I pretty much reasoned their sites are constantly under malicious attack, and thus the web reputation and/or IPS blocking kicking in.
I resigned myself to accessing an external network not monitored by the ISA to get the pdfs.
Have you figured a fix thru the appliance?

HT4356 How do you conver a Page document to PDF when there is no printer available

I purchased a $400 printer last year..now I cannot use it with my IPAD3 because it has to be an Air Print printer.
I need to convert my Page document to PDF and the only way to do that is to go to Print a document...but, when
I get there it tells me that I don't have a printer...Therefore, I cannot get to PDF conversion...
I thought Apple have an incredible group of smart software engineers ...what happened?
Now, I have to go and buy another $400 printer to be able to convert a document to PDF?
I bought this IPAD3 for my wife since she is not a computer expert but, so far I see that this is a product more compicated than a personal computer.
The hardware is great but, so far my wife has a hard time to use the Apps I got for this IPAD...I'm a software programmer working for a major computer company and I also have a hard time trying to get these functions to work...

Under "Share and Print", tap "Email Document", then choose PDF. Alternately, tap "Sent to iTunes", "Copy to iDisk", or "Copy to WebDAV" and then choose PDF...

We can scan multiple pages in to a single PDF to a folder on the server.
We would like to scan multiple pages to multiple PDF to a folder on the server.
e.g. one page to one pdf with the ADF 40 pages in one go. Is it possible and how do we do it.

Problem with Multiple Page convert in PDF

I done one invoice printing and convert in pdf report. but with smartform i get all thing and giving perfect out put.
But when i give second option for direct create a file of PDF this time only one page can convert in PDF. Means when i give multiple input like print invoice 0000910 to 0000925 so this time only invoice no. 0000925 is convert in pdf. But actually i need all invoice like 910 to 925 convert in one PDF with 25 pages.

Page numbers in PDF?

I cannot figure out how to identify the page numbers of a PDF document when I view it in Safari 5.0.3. The original paper document has its own numbering system, but the PDF page-numbers are completely different. When I go to print individual pages of the PDF document, I don't know what page numbers to put into the printer window.
I asked the publisher of the PDF document for advice. This is what it advised:
"This is an issue with printing PDFs (Portable Document Files) in general, and does not pertain exclusively to printing PDFs in FDsys. When printing a PDF document in your web browser, the web browser is printing the pages of the electronic file (the PDF) not the page numbers that appear on the original publication (from which the PDF is derived). The page numbers of a PDF document do not always match the page numbers appearing on the publication itself. For example, in the example you cited (http://www.gpo.gov:80/fdsys/pkg/USCODE-2009-title26/pdf/USCODE-2009-title26-subt itleA.pdf), the page number on the publication is page 347. However, if you click anywhere in that page, you will see that the PDF reader you are using indicates the corresponding page in the PDF file in the toolbar at the top of the page (next to the up/down arrow icons). The page number indicated in the toolbar refers to the page numbers in the PDF file, and it is these page numbers that your browser is referring to during the printing process."
None of those instructions work in Safari. How do I find the page numbers for a PDF document in Safari?

the best bet is to open it in Preview using the relevant button that appears when you hover at the bottom of a pdf in safari. Although the page numbers that appear on each page still won't necessarily match, you can at least make preview show the 'pdf' numbers in the toolbar, which will match those you choose when printing.
a plugin like adobe's or http://schubert-it.com/pluginpdf/ may show page numbers within Safari, but that doesn't mean they'll match those which appear on the pages, in the example link you gave, and others.
