Block some websites help
is there a way i can set safari to not be able to load certain websites i.e. facebook or bing ect? Its a work computer that i dont wnat anybody using for personal use.

For Facebook. As I'm sure you are aware, FB requires a username and password. You can prevent that from being stored in Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities)
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Autofill tab.
Deselect: Usernames and Passwords
FB requires Java to upload images. You can disable Java from Safari/Preferences - Security for FB

TS1544 Keychain Issue - Blocking some websites, help!
I received an iMac G4 from a friend (10.3). I reset the Keychain using Keychain First Aid because it would not allow access to websites without a password. Now all sites are accessible except for a select few, like YouTube and Hotmail. I thought resetting the Keychain would fix the issue. How do I unblock sites? Thank you for any help!
It may well be that the only solution (for now) is to keep the zoom level at default (press CTRL+0 - that's zero - to restore it or go into ''View > Zoom > Reset''). I heard of other cases where zoom would make pages lag. This problem will be gone in Firefox 4, along with most (if not all) scroll problems. Firefox 4 beta is still not good enough for day to day use, but you can still [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html try it] if you want.

I have an addiction to some forums and social networking sites.. I've tried removing them from all my favorites to deter me from visiting them, but I find myself just typing out the web addresses. It's that bad. How can I block these sites completely from my usage?
Although a browser is probably not the right tool to block websites, there are some add-ons that might help: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=block+websites
Other more advanced options: Configure your router to block some websites; use website filtering software; edit the hosts file of your OS to block sites; use services such as OpenDNS or other filtering services, perhaps even Torproject with Torbutton for Firefox etc. etc. Research carefully before deciding. -

I have tried to fix it by tinkering with some settings in google chrome but had no luck!
here is a screenshot of the problem:Unless a web page uses a “web font” that it supplies itself, web pages typically provide a list of fonts, in priority order, of fonts to be used to render text. Typically, this list of fonts represents “system fonts” of MacOS, Windows, iOS, and Android - fonts that can be counted on being installed. Helvetica Neue is a MacOS system font that is not typically found on Windows systems. And even if a user licenses recent versions of Helvetica Neue OpenType fonts and installs same on Windows systems, they are in the “Helvetica Neue Std” family which would not match “Helvetica Neue” which is native to MacOS. Thus, I suspect that the Helvetica Neue you have installed on Windows is an older font offering.
There are three issues here:
The first is that web pages provide a priority list for font usage. I suspect that the web pages you are seeing Helvetica Neue actually used on your system are requesting fonts in the order of Helvetica Neue and then Arial. The typical MacOS system would display the content with Helvetica Neue and the typical Windows system would display the content with Arial. Since you have Helvetica Neue on your system, you are getting rendering similar to what a MacOS system would have.
The second issue is that there is no way to force a web page to reverse the order of priority of the fonts it lists.
And finally, the third issue is that there is no way to hide a font selectively by application.
The only way you can avoid Helvetica Neue being used on web pages preferring Helvetica Neue to let's say Arial or any other font on its list for particular text rendering is to uninstall Helvetica Neue.
That having been said, other than perhaps personal type design preferences, are there any other issues with regards to use of Helvetica Neue for display of these web pages?

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:

Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.

4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

In the attempt of updating my ipod touch, i am faced with the problem of not being able to be connected to the itunes in my computer (windows xp ) because my ipod touch got blocked up, leaving the icon of USB cable and itunes on my touch screen. I am asked to restore my ipod first, but i have tried using all the examples stated and still can't help. Please please, can some one help me out ? One of the websites that doesn't load is google.com! It loads some of the page, just some menu items at the top of the page. Then, it hangs and remains in the Loading state (with the spinning wheel and "Loading" in the tab) indefinitely.
The problem started after 3.6.11 was installed. I'm on Mac OS 10.6.4.
I would be happy if you just showed me where I can download 3.6.10. Also, is there anything special I have to do if installing an older version?I ended up going into the clear history settings and setting it to clear history when Firefox closes and chosing it to clear history and cooking and browsing history when Firefox closes. Now the links work fine and the last page I was looking at before I closed Firefox is no longer there when it opens again. Problem solved!

There is in fact no native ability in iOS to block specific web sites. All you can do is turn off Safari completely.
As the others have suggested, either those sites are not compatible with the browser in iOS (being based on Flash or Java, or using Microsoft-proprietary components that work only in Internet Explorer, for instance), or your Internet connection is blocking the sites.

I am trying to view some websites, but the area turns gray where the interactivity is (where Flash Player is needed). I uninstalled everything related to AFP, then went to the sites so they could direct me to install. I installed (I hope) the most recent version of Flash, went back to the sites with no luck. Thank you for contacting us for support with your device.
Unfortunately what you are trying to do is not possible with any Small Business switch.
It is true that this switch can be used in layer 3 and it will be able to route your traffic on the inside of the network, but it will not be able to route your traffic to the Internet as it doesn't do any NATting.
If you need to block any websites you will need to configure it on your router or firewall.
Just to be completely clear, this switch won't be able to block any websites.

Some websites keep asking to enable cookies in my browser when they are and I can't get this sites to see that, they worked fine yesterday but not now. I've restarted the browser, restarted the computer, disabled then enabled cookies in the privacy settings and still nothing. Any help?

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
