Block Text Messages (QUESTION)

I'm a 9800 user and I was wondering if I could receive the messages that were sent to me in the time I blocked everybody after disabling the block?
Thank you so much in advance!
Solved!
Go to Solution.

If you blocked someone and they sent you an SMS, it would be returned to them as undeliverable.  That would stop that SMS in its tracks.  In order for you to see it, it would have to be resent by the sender.
I hope that helps you.

There is no way to block text messages.  You may wish to report them to your carrier

  • How to block text messages but not calls from a specific number

I want to block text messages from my father but not his phone calls. Is there a way to do this? I have an iPhone 5, but don't want to upgrade to IOS7 yet.
    Thanks!

You have a fantastic phone, joy3141. I double checked features for the iPhone 5 and confirmed there's not a way to block messages from a specific contact without blocking calls too. Our Call & Message Blocking http://vz.to/MqEgqB is a great way to block unwanted contact from specific numbers, but it would block both calls & messages. If your dad is on your account and you're hoping to block all of his text messages to or from anyone, there is a text message block available at www.vzw.com/serviceblocks you can add to his line.
    Thank you

  • Is there anyway to manage my contacts or an app so that I can temporarily block text messages at certain times of the day?

    Hi,
I am wanting to block text messaging that I sometimes receive from clients after hours, and I want to know is there an app like there is for android phones that has lists that you can create so certain people can be sent an auto reply when they send you a message?
I don't want to block the numbers completely just at weekends and/or after hours and I still want to be able to receive phone calls from those numbers as an option.
I am on the Vodafone NZ network
    Thanks

You can Remote Lock his iPad with Find My iPad using a computer at whatever time you like.

Note: The iPad may be disabled if he tries the passcode too many times.

If you are trying to block text messages from a ten digit number and you have the ten digits number you can add the free Call & Messaging Block to your line. With this block you can block up to 5 numbers.
Call and Message Blocking are free features that assist consumer postpaid customers in blocking unwanted calls and messages from specific numbers on a short-term basis. Customers can manage it themselves and make changes whenever necessary by accessing www.vzw.com/spamcontrols.
The number will remain blocked for 90 days. If you need to continue blocking the number after the 90 days you will need to add the number back to the block list.
If you are trying to block text messages from a short code number you can add the free Premium SMS block to your line via your My Verizon account. You can also reply to the message you are receiving with the word STOP. You will receive a confirmation text advising that you have been unsubscribed from the Premium SMS.
    Thanks
    John
PLEASE consider this a feature request -- we NEED to be able to block SMS by 5- and 6-digit codes, not just 10-digit phone numbers.  Since many of us pay by the message, not being able to block individual "Premium SMS" services is probably something you legally need to provide.

  • IMessage with Blocked Text Messaging

I'm wanting to call AT&T and have them officially block text messages. I'm tired of unwanted messages costing me an additional 3 - 5 dollars a month. If I have text messaging blocked... will iMessage still work, even with my phone number?
    Thanks
    Brad

Yes, but if iMessage is not available at the time - Apple's iMessage servers are temporarily down or having problems at the time and the recipient is not an iDevice user running iOS 5 or later, you won't be able to exchange messages.

  • Block Text Messaging

Just in case some of you, like me, did not subscribe to a text messaging plan, you can call At&t and have them modify your account to block text messaging. If you don't block them, each one your receive or send will cost $0.20. They said that any text messages sent by at&t will still get through and those would be free. I just put the block on my account.

Good advice. I may do that. Once in a while I get an unintended text. And I never use texting. Thanks!

  • LG G2 block text message black/white list ???

K, I just got the LG G2 the other day and say that when you go to block a text message there is a black and white list.
    What are the differences?

Dizzybandit, I want to make sure that we are getting you the correct information. I'm not exactly finding where this list is at. Can you please tell me where you see this? Are you going into Messaging (the Green smiley face conversation bubble)?  Or are you using a different application? We really want to get to the bottom of this ASAP.

  • Can I block text messages from 0000727272, 0000555444, and other such messaging?

My wife is receiving text messages from and sometimes replies to 0000727272, 0000555444, and other message numbers that do not correspond to a phone number.  I believe she is having an affair and I need it to stop.  I want to block these numbers and the other such 5 and 6 digit numbers from texting her phone.  How do I go about doing this?  In addition, is there anyway to determine who these messages are from?  Can customer service tell me who is texting her?  She is on my account.  I have tried to look at her phone but she always deletes the messages from these numbers.  Thanks.

These are simply SMS short codes. 727272 is for Redbox. Not sure about 555444.
Regardless, this would certainly be an expensive way to have an affair. Short codes cost $500/month to get a number picked at random. To get one of your choosing, assuming it is available, is $1000/month.
Normally, these are for businesses in order to sign up for their services/promotions. For instance, texting "freebies" to 727272 will get you coupons for Redbox.

  • Text Messaging Question

After the new download to my Motorola RAZR I noticed under my text messaging that when I responded to a text by another party that my picture didn't show up while texting. When I would touch the blank icon where my picture/face should be a small black tag would appear stating "The contact doesn't exist." Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance for your time and kind concern! Sincerely yours, One Happy Verizon Customer/Motorola RAZR user (BV1960)

If you look in the "People" app, there should be listed a "Me" at the top, with your info and picture there. Is that not there?

  • Is there anyway to block text messaging to my iMessage.

I don't have texting added to my provider contract and need to prevent some folks from texting when they don't have an iPhone. Otherwise I get charge for just receiving message solicited or not. Please provide any assistance possible.

This has nothing to do with iMessage.
You need to contact your carrier regarding blocking all SMS/MMS with your line/number. This won't prevent you from exchanging iMessages.

  • Kin One data block - text message warning - Free VZW Msg...

I just got a Kin Onem to give as a gift to my daughter.  I subscribed to the minimum mandatory $1.99/MB data plan, intending to disable data on the phone to keep the cost low and use the phone as a feature phone, with occasional WiFi data use.
In the Service block settings on the MyVerizonWireless web page, I turned off all the services that will cost money, including the "Block All Data Services". I did leave the "Block Picture and Video Messaging" block off (allowing those).
Now, about every 4-5 hours, I get a text from Verizon on the phone that says "Free VZW Msg. Your msg/request was blocked and not delivered. Only the account holder can change your settings to allow access privileges".
I did a reset on the phone, so there are no e-mail accounts setup on it.  I thought maybe I had set something up on it that required data, but even if I do a reset and put the phone in a drawer and not touch it at all, it will still get the messages every 4-5 hours.
Anyone run into this yet?  Any ideas to fix it?

that's really annoying... I blocked everything as you did, but didn't get a single msg as you mentioned...

  • Blocking text message

Is there a way to block a number from texting me, but still have them able to call.

I don't think there is  a way no. Even if you use the free Spam Controls the person will still be blocked for calling.

  • IOS 7.1.2 and no text messages on honda 2014 accord ex

i spoke with honda's handsfree support. They say apple is blocking text messages on the 2014 accord ex since the release of IOS 7.1.2. I just purchased my car 7/4/2014.
    Honda is blaming Apple.
Anyone else have any ideas? I have enabled / paired/ disabled my iPhone 5 numerous times. Their "trump" car was turning on show notifications.
    I have my restrictions disabled.
Apple needs to fix this or thousands of new honda customer's are going to be unable to use their phones in their cars to do anything other than make phone calls, and expecting iPhone customer's to buy new cars is unrealistic.

Then why do they bother printing a spec sheet that states that they do not support SMS (this sheet existed before 7.1.2). Could they see the future?
You got quickly shooed away with a story so your dealer didn't have to 'deal' with you.
As for it working before read the post below.
Note that Honda told this poster the exact same thing that they told you, but this was a year ago and with IOS6.1.4
Go tell your dealer that you do not appreciate being treated like a fool.
