Blocked GSM Slot in HP Mini 210

I have a HP mini 210 series laptop with builtin GSM card Slot which is physically blocked. I checked in the system help files & it says that the Slot is provision only. Any ideas when it will be made usable by HP and if it has been already, what is the process of activating it? Pls advise.

Hi:
Other people on this forum have upgraded their notebooks with W7 Starter to 2 GB of memory and even though the service manual states only 1 GB will be recognized, they report that a  2 GB are recognized in the BIOS and operating system and 2 GB works fine.
Below is the link to the service manual which will tell you what speed memory to get.  Again, 2 GB will work fine with W7 Starter.

  • Clean Install W7 Starter on Mini 210 - Microsoft says Manufacturer is Blocking Install Key

I recently did a clean W7 Starter install on my HP Mini 210-2145DX. I used a Belarc key finder to retrieve the operating system key before doing the clean install with a W7 disc that I own. But the W7 Starter will not verify with Microsoft and gives an error code. I called Microsoft and read them the error code and the W7 Key. The woman asked me to find the certificate of authenticity that is attached to the computer. I told her that there was none. She said the manufacturer was blocking my W7 key. She would not help me any further.
Does anyone know a way around this?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Also, I installed W7 Starter version. When I initially tried to install using my W7 Home Premium Disc, the key from the Belarc key finder program did not work, because it said "wrong version" of windows 7. So i had to delete the ei.cfg file from the W7 installation disc and when I did this, and burned a new iso onto a dvd, the installation asked me to select what version I wanted to install. During the install process for W7 Starter, the key that I previously retrieved from my Mini 210 using the Belarc program worked. But Microsoft told me that Microsoft won't verify the operating system as authentic because the manufacture has the key "blocked."

  • HP mini 210 and un2400 Qualcomm

    Dear All,
did anyone try to physically install a Qualcomm un2400 3g card into an HP MINI 210 (1020)? Is it compatible with the internal shape of the machine? Does it use the back SIM card slot (behind the battery)?
I read about this piece of HW in various forums, but only related to SW installation, while I have a brand new HP mini 210 _without_ the 3g connectivity and I'd like to add this card to my machine (but only if it is compatible and can fit in the chassis).
    Thanks, Alessandro

HP put different firmware on the same card for different models ? and have another doubt, the mini 210-3080nr not have socket for additional mini pci-e to put for example > broadcom crystal hd decoder !!!??? i dont understand this because this model have special sound as beats audio and design exclusive for this model but HP has cutted resources > no mini pci slot to additional card and not have bluetooth + wifi.

wait for reply to have solution to conflict of cards.

Does the PC still have Windows 7 installed?  Did you install the driver found HERE.  In the intial post, it is not stated if the netbook had a similar card installed or not.  Was this a replacement or an additon?

  • HP Mini 210-4000 Blue Screen of Death PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA error

I've been up and down the Forums here with no specific luck, unfortunately, so I'm going to ask even if this has been queried and solved in another part of the site which I may have missed.
I am trying to sort out a friend's HP Mini Notebook, model HP Mini 210-4125sa. The machine started up well enough until a week ago, when it suddenly decided to blue screen.
The specific error message text displayed within the BSOD reads as follows:
    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
    TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
    *** STOP: 0x00000050 (0x87E40000, 0x00000000, 0x92442B13, 0x00000000)
I can not boot past the Windows 7 loading screen - the load bar makes it two fifths up and that's it.
I had thought to try and recover the operating system, if at all possible, from what is apparently a recovery partition that is created on the HD ( i haven't worked with these machines before unfortunately), although i cannot figure how to get at this partition before the error hits.
Also, having attempted to download a piece of software from the HP USB Recovery Flash Disk Utility, i realise that it seems necessary to actually use this from the notebook itself, which is not possible.
Having started running the various onboard tests from the BIOS menu, the Hard Disk Test has just apparently failed (specifically the Hard Disk Optimized DST portion of the test), with failure ID GGBXXV-66A75U-MFPX0J-61VV03 (i'm not certain if this information is of value but am including it nonetheless).HP have not unfortunately been an awful lot of help as they wil only offer a one-off technician support call for forty quid, or to take the notebook away for repair, the cost of which is practically as much as the original cost of the hardware. I would of course prefer to try and sort this out myself but have hit a bit of a wall at the moment. Any suggestions would be fantastic, at this point.

That hardware test for the hard disk is a dead giveaway of a failed item. A failed hard disk  is a show stopper.
Hard Disk Optimized DST portion of the test), with failure ID GGBXXV-66A75U-MFPX0J-61VV03 (i'm not certain if this information is of value but am including it nonetheless) It is important information.
A corrupted NTFS volume (the hard disk) can also generate the " PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA error"  stop message.

  • Is damaged Mini 210 battery usable?

My HP Mini 210-1032CL slid from the case and fell two feet onto a padded carpet -- which was too much.
The battery popped half out and was locked in on one side. I had to force it back in to unlock it.
In the process it scraped the plastic off two of the plastic covered brass fittings/prongs on the battery that mesh between their uncoated/bare brass counterparts in the netbook.
My question is: is it possible to still use it? Obviously the electricity flowed through the battery's plastic covered prongs and into the bare-brass ones in the netbook. But would a bare-brass-to-bare-brass connection damage the netbook?
Right now, the $167 for a new one from HP is not do-able. Not for a good while.

The risk is your decision.  The replacement battery is only $99.99 USD when bought from HP.

  • WIN 7 Home Premium and a HP mini 210-1000!

Have mini 210-1000, refurb, came with a WIN 7 Starter, never did check and record the product key that came with...ERROR!
    1.  Went on line 12 days ago and purchased WIN 7 Home premium.  Have spend HOURS on line with MS techs trying to get it to install.  Came here before I waste any more time.
This machine has 1G RAM - CAN it install WIN 7 Home premium?
    2.  Since the last attempted install (MS using PowerISO Virtual Drive Manager (free download ver.), and which was UNsuccessful, my HP and MS now tell me that my WIN 7 Starter is 'not genuine' and they give me several options to obtain the product key.
The product key in control panel/status is not EVEN in the correct format and starts with 2 (unacceptable) zeros...
IF this machine was refurbed by HP or Contractor, does HP have a usable product key to return me to normal operation?  Am having trouble re-reaching the MS tech, I believe HE's out of ideas...
ANYone know a guru ?  Am not quite ready to invest  $$$ to fix a mess that MS started - and it's a long, long story...which takes me back to the original question:  am I asking my Notebook to install WIN 7 Home Premium when it's not able??
Thank you for any help you can provide!

  • HP Mini 210-1102TU Wont Accept 2GB ddr3 no boot.

    Goo day!
I recently bought this laptop HP MINI 210-1102tu
    Specs
    -atom n475
    -1gb DDR3
    -250gb hd
This is my replacement with my 1year old hp mini 110 n280.
    My problem/our problem is this.
It seems we CANT upgrade the memory into 2gb ddr3 1066 single stick. i already tryd 2 Diffirent Brand Kingston and Team elite.
Store where i bought my laptop told me HP BIOS does not accept 2gb DDR3 only 1gb ddr3.
to HP team Please Release a bios that will support our hp mini 210 DDR3 variant to accept 2gb ddr3. since our old hp mini 110 accepts 2gb memory and some for the HP mini 210 DDR2 variant accepts 2gb.
Thanks im hopping for answer from HP. regarding this matter and release a new bios that will allow us users to upgrade to 2gb DDR3
    Much thanks!
    -Pao

    Hmmm...interesting...Mini 210 with new Atom processors (N475) should support 2GB of DDR3 1333...
What is the BIOS version do you have?

  • HP Mini 210-1000sa Track Pad Problem

I've just bought a HP Mini 210-1000sa and I'm finding the Track pad truely AWFUL to use - not at all up to the usual HP high quality.
As the left and right buttons are part of the track pad "sensitive" area, when you use one finger to position the cursor then touch the left button area with another finger the track pad will either:
    a) move the cursor to a new position!
    b) ignore your click because you already have a finger touching the pad (leading to having to make several click attempts!
    c) it might work
A further problem is that although the buttons give a re-assuring "click", as they are part of the "sensitive" area of the pad, if your finger is too high on the paad (ie outside the marked area of the button), it will still "click" but nothing happens.
Is there an update (software or hardware) to fix this problem?  I'm finding it unusable as it is, I have to use an external usb or bluetooth mouse.  This partly defeats the object of having an ultra portable device!
    Thanks for any help ...

  • Brightness doesn't work in Windows 7 on Mini 210 HD

    Hi,
I've bought a Mini 210 HD a month or two ago, and i promptly removed XP to put Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit) on it. This has worked more or less OK, but ever since upgrading i have been unable to use the brightness functions of the lap-top in any way. Not only can i not adjust the brightness with the hot keys, Windows will not dim the screen when i remove it from the mains or leave it to idle, and although i can move the brightness slider in the Power Options control panel, it has no effect. (Currently it is on the lowest setting in Windows, but the hardware is still on maximum brightness.)
I have re-installed the Intel chip-set drivers and the HP keyboard drivers a half-dozen times, these don't seem to be the problem. There is also nothing relevant listed in Windows Update, and there are no problem devices listed in Device Manager.
Is there anything i can do about this?
    configuration:
    HP Mini 210 HD
    Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit)
    Intel GMA 3150 driver 8.14.10.1972
    Microsoft x86 ACPI driver 6.1.7600.16385

Alrighty, Here ya go! I had this problem also. Got my HP mini 210HD and put Windows 7 on it right away. Brightness wouldn't change, function keys didn't work, brightness slider did nothing.
    Solution:
Make sure you download the graphics drivers from HP's website, not Intel's. The brightness setting won't work with the Intel graphics drivers.
Get "Intel Mobile Graphics Driver for Microsoft Windows 7" from HP's website.
    I have Windows 7 32bit, so I downloaded this: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-78614-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&...
This should work for you Ohkine.
