Blocked number still getting through

How is a blocked number still sending me text messages?

I don't know. This is my first iPhone. Had number blocked through Verizon customer service Sunday but still receiving texts today. Showed blocked online but apparently also needed to block number directly on my iPhone. Should work now hopefully.

First off the F word is uncalled for.
Second. people can send messages from various other sources than their phone, to easily get through to you. Just like they could place *67 in front of your number and the call would come through as VZW would be unable to determine the number.

  • Blocked numbers still getting through to voicemail?

I have certain numbers blocked on my son's phone but it appears that these numbers are still able to leave voicemails.  Is that true?  If so, how does one block that from happening?

    Hi Cneild,
If you have the numbers blocked in the system, they are not able to leave a voice mail. The block in place will intercept that call and the caller hears a recording that the person they called has a block. The only way a person whose number is blocked from your son's line would be able to leave a voice mail for him, is if they blocked or restricted the number they were calling from, or used a different phone to call him. Callers are also able to manipulate the number that appears on an incoming call. This is called spoofing and can be done using a computer or a third party application.
Because the call was not answered and went to voice mail, it will not show up in the call details for your son's line. This is due to the fact that when a call comes in and the user does not answer, no minutes are used. The only calls that appear on the bill are ones that connected.
You are able to check your son's missed call list to see if you can locate the number that called, or the fact that the number ws restricted by the caller. Please note that if the incoming call was made while your son's phone was powered off, it will not show as a missed call. The call will not appear in the call details on the bill or online.
Verizon Wireless offers a feature called Usage Controls that is $4.99 per line. It allows you to block restricted calls as well. You can view additional details about Usage Controls and all it can do by visiting:
    Usage Controls
I hope this information is helpful and addresses your concerns about your son's line.

  • Blocked Numbers still getting through.

I purchased usage controls for my son's droid.  I had to block a number that he was texting/calling at all hours of the night.  The number, an ATT number, shows up on my blocked numbers list, but checking his usage, this number is still texting and calling him.  What do I have to do to completely prevent this other number from contacting him?

We would need to review your account further and troubleshoot this for you. We will be sending you a message to gather more data.
    Thank you

  • I have an iPhone 4 but when I block a number it still gets through

So I really want to block this number, I don't want to talk to this guy anymore. He's just bothering me and I want nothing to do with him. I blocked him before and it worked but it isn't working now. I have the iPhone 4 and he has an iPhone also but not sure which one. I know he doesn't have verizon.
Why won't it let me block him for the 90 day period? It says you can block up to 5 numbers for free. How can I fix it? Thanks for your help, I really want this number blocked.

If they are still getting through using text messages, you should probably turn off your iMessages or change the settings for it to use only your phone number and not your Apple ID for transmitting the messages over the data connection.

  • Blocked callers can leave voicemail so still get through how do I stop this?

I Found the number of an 'unknown' voicemail caller
tthrough the message envelope function and googled it to find it was a spam call about debts - j often get calls about this which ring - so  I then blocked this number but now it goes straight to voicemail everytime and i get notified that I have a voicemail - I still have to listen as it could be a real voicemail and so still have to listen to the call ! How can I prevent a blocked number from leaving voicemail?

Have you connected your iPhone to iTunes on your computer as provided?

  • Airport seems to hang, but wired traffic still gets through

I have a newish Airport that I bought to replace a Time Capsule that died.  Both devices have had troubled childhoods.
The new device, which we have had for about six months seems to have some kind of electronic ADD.  Wired traffic still works but the Wifi dies and the airport will not talk to the airport utility.  If I ignore the bleating of the other household members, stomping around loudly enquiring "Is the wifi down?", standing at my office door hyperventilating, saying to no-one in particular "Well, I guess I will go read a book then" etc et etc, I can keep working because everything I use is wired.  Until I decide to cook dinner and look up the recipe on my iPad, whereupon I recall the earlier histrionics...
The only fix is to restart the Airport Extreme.
Restarting it presumably clears its DHCP table so it gives out dupllicate addresses when something appears.  And that then causes all kinds of problems.
The network has a sixteen port router, two 8 port routers and an Airport Express that extends the network in our long thin house.  There are about 20 devices that use the network including desktop computers, laptops, iPads, iPhones, file servers, media players, Vmware and Parallels virtual machines and other stuff.  This disrupts the entire household including my work-from-home arrangements and it takes about half an hour to go around the house tracking down all the devices and switching everything off, rebooting the Airport Extreme, then going around the house and restarting it all again.
    So, my questions are:
    * Do you have an Airport in this kind of complex environment that works successfully?
    * Do you have an Airport that seems to crash in this way (wired connections work, WiFi and Airport Utility response not so much)?
    * Do you think that the Airport is up to the job?  Am I being unreasonable in expecting it to work in this environment?
    * Is there a history of extended wifi networks causing airport crashes - i.e. is it likely that using the airport express to extend the network is causing the problem?
    * Do you have a theory about what might be causing the problem?
It might be the hardware, but the Time Capsule was doing the same thing before it died...  I think it is probably a software problem.  Taking it to the Apple Store is not a preferred option because (a) I have to get an appointment and last time I tried that (my main work laptop had died) I was offered an appointment 4 days in the future and (b) it will probably work just fine (because it always does after I restart it.
So, Community - do what you do best! Opiine, theorize, rant and excoriate.  Lemme hear it.

This puts your question outside the reach of most..
And I think your naming is mixing yourself and others up as well.. I am sure the 16 port router and the 2 x 8 port routers are dumb switches.. least ways I hope so.
The shear complexity of the network is going to make troubleshooting that much harder.
    * Do you have an Airport in this kind of complex environment that works successfully?
Yes.. I have a 16 managed switch plus a number of other devices.. like WAPs bridges with a modem router.. plus ethernet to everywhere plus other switches. And it all works fine. I do not have the main Time Capsule in my case as router.. it is bridged. I do a lot of repairs and testing so I keep it bridged for flexibility.
    * Do you have an Airport that seems to crash in this way (wired connections work, WiFi and Airport Utility response not so much)?
I seldom have issues because I use Mountain Lion as little as possible and control everything from Snow Leopard.. the last OS Apple made with really stable networking IMHO. I also am selective of firmware on the TC.. when a later one acts up .. which they do, I roll back to the last stable version.
ML always gives trouble but I force it to connect to something else.. problem solved.
    * Do you think that the Airport is up to the job?  Am I being unreasonable in expecting it to work in this environment?
I do think that a single airport might not be ideal.. but it depends on the load.. house layout and bandwidth usage.. and loads of other considerations. Overall the airport I would place somewhere at the top of home / SOHO type gear but below pro equipment.
About where Apple would like to be. But the latest AC model has some serious issues.. and Apple is tardy getting down to writing a reasonable firmware update.. still your story with the same issue with older TC presumably may point the finger elsewhere.
    * Is there a history of extended wifi networks causing airport crashes - i.e. is it likely that using the airport express to extend the network is causing the problem?
You actually haven't given a real picture of the network.
Is the extreme the main router? What kind of modem and broadband do you have?
Exactly how is the express setup.. as that kind of crept in without warning.. we were talking about TC and Extreme. Is it wireless extend or roaming setup?
It should be roaming with all the ethernet you must have.
The latest firmware is a dog.. You haven't given model numbers either so I have no idea how old the gear is.. but I am assuming new.. so this is AC Extreme and dual band Express??
There is nothing you can do for the AC model.. Apple have some issues but are very slow to get a firmware out to fix them. The Express can go back to 7.6.1.. but that is hardly relevant if you have roaming setup..
Please give exact models.. A1xxx from the labels on the routers.
Please give their exact setup.. even a few screen shots.
    * Do you have a theory about what might be causing the problem?
Lots but info helps no end.. from your end give the above and we can then suggest alternatives.
Actual screenshots of the setup of the Extreme and Express gives us hugely better picture of where things can go wrong.
BTW your post should have been picked up automatically after 24hours by an Apple rep who simply quotes all the documents you should read but at least gives an answer.. there is nothing wrong with giving a bump after 1day and after 2days as this discussion area moves so fast it might go over the page before one of the usual suspects has a chance to see it.

  • My apple id keeps saying is blocked i cant get through i have right id abd right password

Cannot download apps with itunes credit apple id kerps saying is blocked i have right password so how do i fix it

    Hi,
This is about the type of APple ID that is also a Valid AIM Screen Name.
Apple's Agreement with AIM was originally for the @mac.com ending names issued under the .Mac service (pre MobileMe) and then later the MobileMe issued @me.com IDs.
When MobileMe started Apple changed the registration page for @mac.com names to be "iChat names"  (Under @mac.com all names worked "forever" in iChat (Trial Accounts, Paid for account or Lapsed accounts)
The Trial and Lapsed accounts no longer worked as email addresses but will work with iChat. (Therefore a small step to keep issuing the names).
    NOTE:
You cannot create a new Apple ID whilst using the email already linked to another one.
An @mac.com name is a New Apple ID.
The MobileMe @Me.com issued names work in all iChat versions.
Later @me.com names issued via iCloud only work with iChat 6  (iChat makes a dual Login to AIM and Me.com so that the Password can be verified)
In All Cases the password has to be 16 characters or less due to the limit at the AIM server end (despite Apple trying to get you to make them longer).
My Apple ID is, like yours, an email from somewhere else.  In my case it is an old Dial-up Account I used to have.
An Alternative to to register the Email Address with AIM's Registration Page (Or just use it a Security, Password and Confirmation address).
At the end of the day it is about whether you want a separate ID or not.

  • Why is a blocked number still able to text me?

I blocked a particular phone number from contacting me yet they were able to send a text message yesterday. What's the deal?

Do you more than one mobile number for that person in your contacts? Could they be messaging you from a second one that you didn't block?
Have you talked to Verizon since this problem started?

  • Block caller still ringing phone 866 number

Hi I block a number but it is still getting through to cell
    help
did last week but it is still ringing me up to 10 times a day

So sorry for those unwanted calls, tatiasc1! Let's put an end to your aggravation. You mentioned that you've blocked an 866 number. If you blocked it through FamilyBase on an account with more than one number, please ensure that the restriction was placed on the correct mobile number.
When these calls come in, do you answer them or do they go to voicemail?

  • Blocked numbers/contacts still coming through?

I was playing around with the new "block" feature.  I added one of my contacts to the block list.  Tested out text messaging and Facetime and it works.  Their text and Facetime call didn't come through.
I then tested with the phone dialing and their number still comes through on my phone.  I thought the purpose of "blocking" calls is to prevent anyone on this list from contacting you.  I did notice that their call did not show up on my call history list, but they were still able to get through to my number.
Apple states that when you add a number to your block list, the person trying to reach you should hear a few rings and then a busy signal.  This wasn't the case.  The contact who I blocked didn't get a busy signal at all, rang and rang until I picked up the phone.
Is anyone else having this issue?

  • If you block a mobile number, can they hide their number and get thru to your phone showing 'no caller id', If you block a mobile number, can they hide their number and get thru to your phone showing 'no caller id'

I have blocked a number, but can this person still get through to my phone if they hide their mobile number?

Hi, I was having the same issue, I have many numbers blocked but when then choose to hide their number the Phone would ring.
I have since found a solution.
    Settings
    Do Not Disturb
    Manual
Allow Calls From - All Contacts
With Do Not Disturb on all the time, only people in your contacts can contact you, and all the people you have in your Blocked lists still stay blocked.
Just be careful when you have your phone on silent, this will stop all notifications coming through, including text alerts etc.
But for me its either this or change my number which i really cant be bothered to do
    Hope this helps
    Cheers

  • I have premium messaging blocked but I'm still getting short code spam?

So lately I have been getting short code messages (271-26) for some company called "Lango" bothering me to download their crappy (a probably virus-laden) software on my iPhone. I have premium messaging blocked on my account as well as web and email message blocking, but these people are still getting through! I'm up to my eyeballs with frustration and all Verizon can tell me is to "reply stop". Really? I have an umbrella block on all this crap so why is it getting through in the first place? Is anyone else having this same issue?

That is a great point that Ann154 has mentioned.
Have you been able to confirm whether or not the messages are iMessages or not?

  • Can you block a number from ringing, however still get voice mail.  Is that possible???

There are some folks that call so much and it seems at just the wrong time.  I'd like to able to block them so my phone doesn't ring and yet, still get the voice mails that I can check at a later date when it's convenient.   Is there a way to do that???

Thank you. I thought there was a feature on the phone that allowed for that to happen.
My next question is, however. If I'm texting another party, and the delivered sign is not shown. Is it a possibility that my phone may have been blocked from receiving any texts?
Or, is it possible that the text message did not go through, yet?
Thanks again for answering my inquiry.
    Dawn.

  • HT201363 How do i delete my iphone 4s from my account on apple ID? I change phones and i am not getting regular txt messages because somehow the messages are still sending through imessage which i no longer have.... I deleted my phone number from the acco

I change phones and i am not getting regular txt messages because somehow the messages are still sending through imessage which i no longer have.... I deleted my phone number from the account though as per instructiions from the phone carrier and is still not working...Any help?

    Hello jn_andrade,
It sounds like you are no longer getting text messages becuase your Apple ID is still using your phone number for iMessage. I would use these steps to unlink your phone number from your account:
    Unlink a phone number
To remove a phone number from an Apple ID, sign out of FaceTime and Messages on your iPhone:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages. If the phone number is still available on other devices after you sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on the iPhone, you may need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your devices, then sign in to FaceTime and Messages again on devices you want to use.
Note: If you no longer have access to the iPhone that is using the number you want to remove, reset your Apple ID password.
From: iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage
