I Blocked a number on my iphone 4 then got an iPhone 6 without unblocking it. Is the number still
blocked from my phone?

Thank you for your timely response. There is no doubt that I did something to block this number. I remember doing it, I just do not remember where that was, only that it was a reflexive action I really didn't want to make. That being said - I understand that a formal blocking procedure is not available on the iPhone. Everyone says so. I can not find one now. However, I did something, the end result of which is that that caller is blocked. I see a blocked call message on my screen. Since this is my physician's office, I see no reason they would have blocked the call from their end. They are trying to give me important information. I have reset my phone per your suggestion and when I can get in touch with my party I will ask them to call me again to see if this has solved the issue for me. If it does, I will post it here. I should have thought of a reset myself.

As the number keeps changing you can't block them, but your carrier may offer a parental control option that blocks ALL incoming calls except for a list of allowed numbers. Contact the carrier.

Not really true. Call blocking can be done on the phone and many good phones do this.
I've been receiving text spam lately through 10 digit numbers. AT&T's solution is to pay them $5 a month for a ridiculously limited service that can block only up to 15 numbers and offers little else for the exorbitant fee. I'm positive that apple has not provided a block program because it conflicts with AT&T's money making "service".
So here's a shout to Apple: I've been an iphone user since iphone 1 came out. If you don't offer a program to do this by the time iphone 5 comes out, I'm switching to Android (which blacklists numbers). The iphone is great, but this is an inexcusable missing feature that is unfortunately becoming too hard to live without. On principle, I will never be ok with paying for somebody to pitch me junk I don't want and, therefore, spam through cell phones is unacceptable.

On the desktop Skype, I can simply right click on the number in the call log, block it, and report it as spam all in one step. I can't do that on Android. I need an easy way to block numbers on the Anroid app. I don't want to jump through the hoop of creating a contact so I can block it. I want to be able to block the number on the Android app the way I do on the desktop app.

Can't block phone number?

I am having the exact same problem... unable to complete your request, blah blah blah...
Is anyone else out there experiencing this? Is it possible (judging from the dates on these posts) that it STILL doesn't function correctly? Sad.

No, I didn't place a *67 before the number... I don't dial it. It dials me. I took the number in question and input it in Google last night... shows up as a real problem for many many people all over the states, regardless of wireless carrier. It is a recorded message that, if one answers, will ask who you will vote for, but since there is no real human on the calling end, it doesn't really "hear" you answer... then launches into a vitriolic political tirade.
I am lucky that I have never answered the call, only listened to the brief msg that states "We may call back later." I am very concerned about this event... it happened last night at 2:32 am! I got the above information online from others who are experiencing this call. So I decided to see if I could block it entirely.
My number, which I have had through VZW for over ten years and never with another carrier, has NEVER been given out for business or purchasing purposes... that is what my Verizon land line is for! Thus, the blocking of it is very important to me.
At any rate, I tried perhaps 14 or 15 times, and finally... it did go through. For such a simple back-end server operation, it should not be this difficult to do. But at least it did go through and I didn't have to waste time on the phone.

Why can't I deny a call from a blocked phone number???

I got a few calls blocked numbers and they are always a different person. I want to deny them but I can't the phone you can usually pull up wasn't there. Please help I don't know if something is wrong with my phone.

Call blocking didn't become a feature for iPhone until iOS 7. Your post says you have iOS 6.1.3 and call blocking is not possible with that

You cannot do this on the iPhone - this is a feature/service that must be provided by the carrier. Contact your carrier and ask if they can do this. In the US, for example, AT&T offers as part of the SmartLimits package.

I currently have Imessage turned off on my phone since there is no blocking feature on the Iphone 4. If I change my phone number and turn on Imessage, how do I make sure I won't get Messages from person I have blocked?

I have turned off Imessage for the time being but I'm seriously considering changing my phone number. If I change the number with my carrier and turn Imessage back on, what do I have to do to ensure that any previous messages don't come through and any future messages cannot be sent?

Can you choose to block phone calls but not texts from a number?

So I have searched all over the place and have not found an answer. I am sure someone has blocked me from calling them because when I try to call them I recieve this message: "Welcome to Verizon Wireless. The number you were trying to reach has calling restrictions which has prevented the completion of your call."However I am wondering if they can still receieve my texts. I have sent two and they both show that they have been delivered on my phone and they both also show up on my online bill as having been sent from me and recieved to the number that I am pretty sure has blocked me. Does Verizon allow someone to block just phone calls but not text messages? Or if you block a number from calling does that mean texting from that same number is automatically blocked as well (or is it two seperate processes)? I understand it may look like it has been sent on my end, but I am wondering, since I never got a "message failed" indicator or anything else telling me they never got it, if they were able to receive and read the 2 messages? We both are Verizon customers by the way. Thanks!!!

That person did block you, and no they cannot receive or read your texts.

Michael is right, you can easily get around it by simply assigning a silent ringtone.
Google "silent ringtone" (don't pay for it, you can find it free) and download it. I've created an "Annoying Cr@p"
"contact" that I've assigned the silent ringtone to and I simply cut and paste the numbers I want blocked into it.
No more salesmen, political party calls, etc.- the phone does light up when they call, but you hear nothing- and usually miss them all together. I've assigned a nice little image of a stuffed dog pooh to it (google "poop toy"), and when someone does see it (as one of my co-workers saw it light up on my desk once) it makes for a *great* laugh.
Works like a champ. Takes minutes.

Depends on whether you are using the same iCloud account on the device, or if you are syncing Contacts via iTunes, if you are syncing both devices to the same computer.
When you block someone, no matter which application you "launch" the block from (Messages, Phone, FaceTime) you are blocking the Contact. So, any app that uses that contact will see it as a blocked contact and will block any incoming activity to that app from that contact.
