You cannot do this blocking from within the native OS.

You cannot do this on the iPhone - this is a feature/service that must be provided by the carrier. Contact your carrier and ask if they can do this. In the US, for example, AT&T offers as part of the SmartLimits package.

  • Does ios6 allow you to block a phone number from being received in the future?

I know that previous versions of iOS did not provide the ability to block a phone number in the "Call History" menu from ever being received again, but what about iOS6?

    Hey Paul,
Michael is right, you can easily get around it by simply assigning a silent ringtone.
Google "silent ringtone" (don't pay for it, you can find it free) and download it. I've created an "Annoying Cr@p"
"contact" that I've assigned the silent ringtone to and I simply cut and paste the numbers I want blocked into it.
No more salesmen, political party calls, etc.- the phone does light up when they call, but you hear nothing- and usually miss them all together.  I've assigned a nice little image of a stuffed dog pooh to it (google "poop toy"), and when someone does see it (as one of my co-workers saw it light up on my desk once) it makes for a *great* laugh.
Works like a champ.  Takes minutes.

  • If you block a phone number in iMessage on the iPad, does it also block it on the iPhone?

If you block a phone number in iMessage on the iPad, does it also block it on the iPhone?

Depends on whether you are using the same iCloud account on the device, or if you are syncing Contacts via iTunes, if you are syncing both devices to the same computer.
When you block someone, no matter which application you "launch" the block from (Messages, Phone, FaceTime) you are blocking the Contact. So, any app that uses that contact will see it as a blocked contact and will block any incoming activity to that app from that contact.

Can I block one phone number on my phone

Hi and welcome to the forums!
The native software in the Blackberry doesn't have that function.
    1) If the phone number poses any threat to you. Call your carrier and have them block the number permanently.
    2) If the phone number is just a nuisance i.e.. bill collector, phone sales etc I  would use a call manager app. Look in AppWorld under call manager. Some are free. I haven't test one in about 2 years so I can't recommend one.
    Thanks,

If you use a GSM carrier, Settings>Phone>Caller ID>Off. If you use a CDMA carrier, you'll need to find out the codes you dial ahead of the number to block it.

This will not block any calls. It will only turn off caller id ,therefore not showing your caller id to those you call.
Only the wireless provider can block calls.

  • How to Block a Phone Number - Answered

I've been doing some research on this, and there are several 'answered' threads in which people are claiming that it is impossible to block numbers with AT&T. Learn to research, or maybe don't talk about things you haven't any idea about.
After maybe 5 minutes of searching I found this. It may be aimed at overprotective parents, but it offers the ability to block numbers from calling and texting you.
AT&T Smart Limits for Wireless is a new online service that enables you to provide your children with the freedom and security of wireless service while setting sensible boundaries for its use. An easy online setup allows you to determine specifically how and when your child can use the phone. You can set limits for:
Number of text and instant messages
Dollar amount for downloadable purchases (ringtones, games and more)
Times of day the phone can be used for messaging, browsing and outbound calling
Who the phone can call or text (incoming and outgoing) by blocking and allowing certain numbers
Access to content inappropriate for children
Please Note: This product cannot currently be used to set specific monthly limits for minutes. All incoming calls are allowed at all times except from numbers you designate as “Blocked Numbers”.
As your child approaches the text and download limits, he/she will receive an advance warning. Once a limit is reached, there will be a notification the action is restricted and the service will be stopped until the next billing cycle begins.
Calls and text messages to and from phone numbers you designate as “Allowed Numbers” and calls to 911 will continue to be permitted regardless of the limits you set.
For further information, please feel free to visit www.att.com/smartlimitsforwireless

Doing a little more research, I have found that for the iPhone you need to call AT&T customer service in order to add Smart Limits, you can't do it online for some reason. Don't let the customer service person tell you they can't do it, they can. Apparently some of them think they can't.

If you blocked the number via your on-line MyVerizon account (where you can block up to five numbers free for 90 days), that won't keep anyone on your plan from calling the number, it blocks the number from calling you.  If that blocked number and your phone are both iPhones, then they can still text through iMessage since it doesn't go through Verizon's system.

  • Is it possible to block a phone number on my iphone 4?

    Hi all,
Can anybody tell me if i can block a contact from my iphone?
Someone is stalking me for several months now and i tried to download an app called "BDB" but still it won't block the phonenumber. I hope there is an other solution for my problem because the phonecompany will not block this number and i don't no what to do anymore.
I hope there is a solution for my problem.
    Best regards,
    Chris

if the phone company won't block it then there's not much else you can do.  You can create a silent ringtone and use that ringtone for that particular number.  Not a perfect fix, but better than nothing.

  • Block outgoing phone number

how do I block my number when calling out?

    Settings>Phone>Show My Caller ID.
Note that not all carriers support using this setting on the phone and it may not appear at all depending on  your carrier.
If it does, as with AT&T, make the change there and test it.
If it does not work, or the setting does not appear, contact your carrier for information on how to block your number from appearing on caller ID.
Not that this will NOT affect SMS or MMS messages. It is illegal to block your number when using SMS or MMS and ther is no way to do so either on the phone or through your carrier.

  • Block phone number

Is there a way to block a phone number from ringing on my iPhone 4? I changed my old land line, fax line over to my iPhone, and every once in a while I get a call firm a fax machine. I created an entry in my contacts list called JUNK FAX, so I can see it when I get a call, but I wish I could just block that numb entirely... Is there a way to do that?

Not really true. Call blocking can be done on the phone and many good phones do this.
I've been receiving text spam lately through 10 digit numbers. AT&T's solution is to pay them $5 a month for a ridiculously limited service that can block only up to 15 numbers and offers little else for the exorbitant fee. I'm positive that apple has not provided a block program because it conflicts with AT&T's money making "service".
So here's a shout to Apple: I've been an iphone user since iphone 1 came out. If you don't offer a program to do this by the time iphone 5 comes out, I'm switching to Android (which blacklists numbers). The iphone is great, but this is an inexcusable missing feature that is unfortunately becoming too hard to live without. On principle, I will never be ok with paying for somebody to pitch me junk I don't want and, therefore, spam through cell phones is unacceptable.

  • Restricted Phone Number

Normally People block their phone number from being displayed on the Caller Id. These calls come in as Restricted Callers or so. How does COD behave in those Cases?

Asking the caller to validate the phone number is related to customer priority. You can give certain customers priority over others (read up in the help on how to do that.) If you have them validate their phone number this way, you have to enable customer priority, but if you don't list any of the callers so their phone numbers aren't matched, every caller would be defaulted to the lowest priority. So, that would work fine as long as you're ok with everyone being low priority; at least they would all have the same priority. The only time I would see that this could be a problem is if you have other interactions like voicemails or emails that weren't at the lowest priority, then your agent would get voicemails or emails before calls.
The best way to know how this will work is to test it out. You'll have to find a number that blocks caller id and call in from that number. See if it asks you to validate. Don't turn customer priority and see if it still works. While doing this, use the supervisor tool to see what the $ANI is.
If you're really worried about doing this because you want the screen to pop the contact EVERY TIME, I suggest you hold off until you go live and actually experience the screen pop. You will find that only a small percentage of calls will be unknown. To give you a rough idea, from one report today out of 671 calls 11 were unknown. To get the screen to pop, the real work comes in making sure your contacts have the phone numbers and the right phone numbers, depending on who your callers are (residential or business). You may have someone calling from an office and their caller id will be the number from their PBX not their direct desk line, so it could be anyone in that company.
In other words, your biggest problem isn't restricted phone numbers; it's having the right contact record set up with the right numbers and related contacts, if needed.
