Blocking Access on a Remote Computer Left at Forme...

I recently left a job - and I believe I accidentally left SKYPE running on the laptop I left behind.
Does this mean that my former employer has access to my SKYPE messages?

Re-set the account password; this forces all other instances where Skype is running to be sign off (logged out).

  • Access MS Access database on remote computer (shared folder)

    Hello,
    I need some help.
I've made a program and it works fine on my computer, but multiple users will be using program simultaneously, each one on his own computer conected over local network to mine computer (database is on my computer in shared folder).
When I try to access data on database (path is path of shared folder) i'm getting error 5013 (no database). The problem occurs only when I'm trying to read something from MS access database but not if I try to read data from .txt file, then it works fine...
    I'm using ADO Tools
Can someone help me, I would be very greatful?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks to you Dennis I've managed to figure it out.
I'll explain this for future generations
    1) I've created DSN. To do that open ODBC Data Source Administrator:
    - for 64 bit app C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe
    - for 32 bit app C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
In System DSN tab click Add.. then choose Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) (If you do not have this on list download that drivers from web) --> FINISH.
Enter Data Source Name (mine is Test2) --> Select... --> now because the MS Access database is on shared folder on remote PC go to Network... --> Browse... and select that shared folder --> Finish. Now you'll see all .mdb files on that folder and you choose your database --> OK --> OK --> OK
    2) Now in block diagram you connect string "DSN=your_dsn_name;" (mine was Test2) to ConnectionString connector of ADO Connection Open.vi
    It worked for me.

  • How can I get my old iTunes music onto my new computer without access to my old computer? I left my previous job and forgot to transfer my music. I bought iTunes match and it shows my old Mac as a device, but I cannot get the music off it.

How can I get my old iTunes music onto my new computer without access to my old computer? I left my previous job and forgot to transfer my music. I bought iTunes match and it shows my old Mac as a device, but I cannot access any of the old music. All I can find are what was on my iPhone, but that's not what I want. I need all my old music from my old Mac, which has been wiped clean by IT at my old job. BUT, I did have iCloud at that time and I thought all my music would be accessible through it. I don't understand the Cloud! And I'm thinking spending $24.99 on iTunes Match was a waste of money because I still can't access my old music.

When you are done with this issue, consider the computer back at the office may still
have access to your iTunes account, and it should be de-auhorized. You can do that
remotely, but be sure you carefully do not mess up your other computer iTunes libraries.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How do I resolve this error in Safari Your page is blocked due to a security policy that prohibits access to Category Remote Proxies"?

I'm trying to access several pages and keep geting "Your page is blocked due to a security policy that prohibits access to Category Remote Proxies" After going over all my security stuff I just can't find where I would correct the error.
Is there anyone who could help me?
    Thanks
    Fr. Gary

    very strange,
    1. check time and date on your computer
    2. reset network configuration, make sure there are no proxy servers and you get DNS from your router not manual
    3. Reset certificates database
    Go to Terminal (Applications>Utilities)
    sudo rm /var/db/crls/*cache.db
(you will be prompted for your password)
    and reboot the computer

  • I have lost my iPad. I fear it has fallen into wrong hands. How do I block access remotely?

I have lost my ipad at a supermarket. I fear it has been taken. I would like to retrace it and/or block access to it as soon as possible. I am not sure if I activated "find my ipad," before it was lost. It is linked and synced with my MacbookPro. It is wifi activated and has a micro simcard which is also acrive.

Go to icloud.com on your computer and see if you can locate it, as explaned here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f2442.  It will only work if you have Find My iPad enabled, and it has a connection to the internet with your settings unchanged.  You have the option to lock it or erase it remotely if it can be tracked (http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f0165).  However, if you erase it you will no longer be able to track it.

  • Can no longer access the Canon Remote UI Management Mode (Portal) (on my Desktop Computer)

I set up access to the Canon Remote UI Management Mode (Portal) using my IPv4 address so that I could make changes to the settings of my imageCLASS MF6160dw directly from my Desktop Computer. That has worked flawlessly for almost 3 months. Then, all of a sudden 3 days ago, I started getting this message: This page can't be displayed I have not added nor removed any equipment or software to my Desktop Computer. I also reconfirmed that my IPv4 address was correct. And I try to access the "Portal" numerous times at different times of the day & on different days. My Desktop Computer is a Dell XPS 8700 Special Edition running Windows Pro 8.1 (64-BIT) How can I regain access to the "Portal"?

I never got a reply from anyone.
But for those who viewed this thread & may also have this problem, I finally figured out that the IP Address had actually CHANGED.
How & why it changed, I do not know.
But, the last 2 digits of .15 changed to .2
I can now access the Canon Remote UI Management Mode (Portal) by using the CHANGED IP Address.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Can I access Firefox and Thunderbird from a remote computer while on vacation? if so how?

going on vacation for 4 to 5 weeks. need to access my Firefox and Thunderbird from a remote computer in Fla. can I do that and if so how?

    Hi linkrj61,
You could either use remote desktop to log on to your home computer or you could look at portableapps.com. This this will allow you to have versions of Firefox and Thunderbird the run from a USB stick so everything you do is tracked on the USB stick rather than the computer.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Can I print my collages or access them as a pdf from a remote computer?

(I'm a teacher and I want maximise its usefulness.)

The best way to send to a remote computer to have it printed out, is open the collage then in the upper right click on the white square with the arrow icon. Select "Share via" as you will see, there is multiple options to choose depending on what you have installed on your device. It will send the file as a .jpg. I tested using via email, dropbox, bluetooth as all methods worked great. Then you can open .jpg file and print it as you wish. I did not see .pdf as an option, but if you have Adobe Acrobat you can open the file in Acrobat, then save as pdf file.
Hope this helps answer your question
    Thanks
    Scott

  • Connecting to Remote Computer

Does Mac have the capability to connect to a Windows based remote computer? For example, I'm planning on purchasing a MacBook Pro soon and I need to know if I will be able to connect remotely to my office computer which is Windows based.
    Any help would be great.

The answer depends. Can you currently connect using another computer today?
If you can, then you should be able to connect with your Mac.
Microsoft offers Remote Desktop Connection client for Mac OS X
    <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/otherproducts/otherproducts.aspx?pid=remotedesktop client>
You can use a Mac VNC client, such as Chicken of the VNC, to connect to a VNC server on your Windows system, such as TightVNC.
LogMeIn.com allows remotely connecting to PCs from Macs via a browser such as Safari. You would have to run the LogMeIn server on your PC.
There are other services that allow you to connect Macs and PC over the internet.
However, many times computers systems at work are behind firewalls that block incoming connections. Companies that do allow remote access often times require the use of VPN software. Depending on the VPN being used, there may or may not be a Mac client. My company uses a Cisco VPN server and provides employees with the Mac Cisco VPN client.

  • Need help with accessing my TC remotely through a PC

I'm trying to figure out how to remote into my 2GB time capsule from work with a PC.  My TC is connected through my home DSL and it has a dynamic IP address.  I've read every article regarding this topic and still no luck.  Any advice would be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

The basic answer is you cannot do it.. You cannot pass SMB over the internet.. all the ISP block the ports.. And no pc supports AFP.. the TC is really a dumb box.. it is specifically a Mac box.. there is no ftp no http no nothing really.. it can do AFP to remote computer meaning a Mac.. and it can do AFP and SMB locally and that is the sum total.
So the answer is simple .. you have to use vpn dsl modem router at home so you can vpn and get SMB access to the TC in the local network.
Or buy a Mac for work!!

  • How do I access Firefox when Norton 360 firewall seems to be blocking access but all links on Norton 360 default to Mozilla page which can't connect?

I'm writing this via a Windows Explorer browser window which should tell you the problem, or at least that I can't connect through Mozilla Firefox.
Mozilla has been my default for years and I've always had Norton, 360 for the last few years. I've been through the traditional update problems with Toolbar/ID Safe and both of those are working fine.
Both were updated to absolute latest version within the last week due to an Update/Restart problem I was having with Windows 8.
There were some periodic problems with initializing the Norton problems which generally led to a Firefox not responding situation.
But I was able to run both quick and complete scans yesterdays and the Norton Autofix tells me no problems with their program/app.
I just downloaded newest Mozilla 25.0.1 last night again as last resort because I can't access Firefox beyond the homepage.
Spotify also told me there appeared to be a firewall blocking access. I also can't access iTunes.
I went to Windows 8 Action Center and it listed Norton 360 as controlling the firewall.
But I went to the allow apps through Windows Firewall tab in System anyway and didn't see any listing for Mozilla or Firefox there (maybe you have a less obvious filename).
My own network connection is working fine, obviously I'm on Explorer and no problems with my other computer.
I'm going to contact Norton to deal with this problem, too.
But my real problem now is that any attempt to contact the Symantec/Norton help/support site is automatically sent through a Firefox page which can't connect.
Right now I can't figure out how to do a tech chat or something to work at it from their end.
So that's why I'm here asking if you've run into this or know any way around it.
Obviously, the quicker a response the better.
    Thanks for your time.
    Ciao 4 now,
    Don Snowden

    Hello J Scher,
I don't know if this answer solves it, but I did contact Norton Support through IE and the tech had me download Firefox again...just like I did the night before on my own. But for the moment, for whatever reason, all those issues have gone away, knock on wood three million times. I can access Norton support pages, I can get on Spotify and I can reach the iTunes store.
I will freely admit to not being a great computer person but I have no idea why my machine did this to me all weekend and why it cleared up now, unless the Norton tech did some behind-the-scenes tweakery. But for now, I'm okay and things are working, knock on wood four million more times (figure I better up the ante).
    Thanks for your help.

  • How do I block certain websites from my computer? on all users profiles,

i want to block miro, limewire, etc from all users on my computer? my computer only tells me how to block it on internet explorer, not firefox. any help??

    Hello Laura.
Are you talking about blocking access to the sites? If that's the cause, you can do it by using an extension that blocks unwanted sites ([https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3145/ BlockSite] for example) at your choice, or you can do it using third party software (like a Firewall, for example). There is both free and paid software of that kind. But Firefox doesn't include that feature by default, you'll need an extension for that.

  • How do I read and write to text files on a remote computer's hard drive

I would like to read and write data to a text file on a remote computer. This is easily accomplished using one of the file functions such as "write characters to file.vi". If I am already connected to the remote computer, all I need to do is specify the path to the particular file and it will work fine.
My problem is that I want to connect to the remote computer programatically within LabVIEW (I do not want to have to use the computer's OS to establish the connection. Is there a function that I can use to do this?

    Yariv,
You should really start a new thread with a new question like this, so that more people see it. Some people look primarily at threads that have no responses yet. Also, don't post the exact same question in multiple places. Or, if you must cross-post to some other forum, make sure to mention it in your question text.
I'm happy to be a brick in your Western Wall, but I'm not sure what the main objective is here. Is the main problem really getting access to the "X bytes received in Y seconds at Z bytes/sec" string? Or is it accomplishing the file transfer? And what OS and LabVIEW version are you running?
I think your problem is that you the LabVIEW System Exec command does not allow for the degree of interactivity that you need if you want to issue a sequence of commands to a command-line executable. However, under Windows XP (and, presumably, other Windows versions, though I can't check), you can tell the FTP executable to use commands from a textfile script by using the -s switch, and you can override the prompts during multiple file transfers with the -i switch:
    ftp -i -s:FILEPATH SERVERNAME
If you issue a command in this format to System Exec, and make sure to create a file at FILEPATH with your command sequence (one per line), then you should at least accomplish the FTP actions. This won't give you the transfer details in the standard output, unfortunately. However, if you just want a general sense of how much was transferred and how quickly it happened, you can code that in LabVIEW by getting the resulting file sizes and using Tick Count before and after the System Exec call to see how long the transfer took.
    Hope that helps,
    John

  • How do I access my iMac remotely when working away from the office?

I work away from the office for much of the time.  How can I access my iMac remotely?

Unless this is critcal for some reason I would not do this.  Unless you understand all the techinolticcal pit falls you can leave your computer dangerusly exposed doing this.  If you are not technical your best bet is going to be to get a wireless router with built in VPN support ($200 - $500) to give you a secure connection home.  And then you will need the Apple Remote Desktop app ($90 I think) and even then it will only work if your work compute is also a Mac.  There are probably other comerial apps that will let you remote into your Mac desktop on windows but will probably be in the $200 price range.
