We have some apps running on SAP j2ee engine 6.40. All applications accesible from outside. We want to block accessibility of some of applications. Is it possible set it in SAP j2ee engine ?

Restrict those applications to some users by using role assignment.
then give only those user id's .By this Applications can be restricted

How to call webdynpro applications from outside

I have a requirement where i need to call below webdynpro application from outside (for ex CRM,ISA..) environments

Hi
I am not getting any error, but the backend call not hapening. I put a debugger in the backend BAPI and run the webdynpro application , no input parameters came or call came to the the backend BAPI.

Block connections from outside a country?

Hi there,
I would like to keep certain ports open for remote access - ssh, ftp and vnc as examples.
When I do a whois on those IP's it gives me a good idea of where those unauthorized connection attempts are coming from.

Is it possible to setup rules that automatically disconnect attempts from outside the UK (in my situation) ? I realise I could whitelist the IP's I use but I find this a bit of a pain since I move around a lot. My passwords and logins are reasonably secure - but having this setup would dramatically help security.
I know my own IP shows me being somewhere in Englandshire but I do live in deepest darkest Scotland, So I'm aware the IP lookup is not perfect ... however is it possible just to blacklist series of IPs that don't orginate from certain countries?

I say dramatically help security - but I know someone is going to comment, let me rephrase - dramatically help obscurity =D I realise people can proxy etc but I'm just looking to slow down bots and toolkits - if someone really wants to connect let them bruteforce. I'd just rather automatically block the ones I'm not interested in.
I use little snitch, having had a poke around I see someone uses IP lists that they convert into CIDR and then pipe into little snitch.

Is there a way to block applications from opening unwanted tabs?

Is there a way to block applications (or at least wait for user permission) from opening unwanted tabs? (like those annoying "Welcome to ..." or "You've successfully installed..." after installing/uninstalling a program, or even a Firefox addon).
I just don't want Firefox opening tabs that I did not directly intended to open.
Also, I've installed AdBlock Plus and Pop-up blocker is enabled, but still some websites allow pop-ups. How can I completely disable opening all stand-alone windows?

What you are talking about is built into the install programs.
Firefox has no direct control over them.

Time Capsule blocks access from outside

I just changed my Airport Extreme with a Time Capsule using the "replace existing airport" option in the airport utility. I have a MacMini attached with ethernet to the Time Capsule that runs as a server (web server, ftp server, vnc) that can be accessed from the public Internet. However, after upgrading to the Time Capsule I cannot access the MacMini server from the Internet. I have tried all the settings I can think of. Both NAT with default server and NAT with configured services fail to work.
Are there any changed behaviours between these network equipment? (the Airport Extreme is the fast-ethernet version). Both uses the latest firmware and software.

There was a problem in the ISP settings - the external IP address changed when i swapped the Airport Extreme with the Time Capsule...

Connecting from outside into VM

I have a server application running that I need to access from external sources.
I am unable to connect from external clients to the server application.
I tried using with public ip and fqdn to no avail

So the issue is that you want to connect to your application from outside using the publiuc IP.
Yes you can do that, but you should know that your application uses one or more ports. And Azure, by default only allow two ports (Rmeote Desktop and Management). You will need to allow the trafic on your application ports. In Azure, we talk about Endpoints.
So go to your VM>Endpoints
Click Add
Create a new Endpoint and choose the public port and the Private port.
What do Private and Public mean ?
The Private port mean the port that your application listen to : Example my application listen on port 445, so the traffic need to reach the server on that port
The Public Port means what port my client will use to send trafic to the application. In a standard configuration, the public port is equal to the private port. But for some reasons (I will detail them if you ask), they can differ. So we create the mapping
between them. Suppose that i will type port 6789
What happens then ?
My client will send the traffic to the Public IP on port 6789, when the traffic reaches Azure, Azure will pass the traffic to the VM but will change the port to 445 (Private Port). My application will work perfectly.

Blocking access to file sharing (AFP/SMB) from outside of network

Hello all,
Is there a way to block access to file shares from outside of our LAN? I have a machine that has some sharing turned on (it is also my email server) and I can reach it across the internet and mount shares as if I was in the office.
How can I block this access? Both SMB and AFP?

Justin, thank you for your reply. The machine is on a public ip address and is not behind a NAT router. I've turned on the software firewall and that is working now. However, I imagine it would be better to use a hardware firewall. Any suggestions on a good one? Thank you.

How do I block pings from the outside to the ASA 5505 outside interface?

I was asked to block pings from the internet to the outside interface of our ASA-5505 firewall. I found a post that said to enter "icmp deny any outside", however that does not do it.
I created an ACL to try and do the trick, also to no avail:
access-list outside_in extended permit icmp any any echo-reply
access-list outside_in in interface outside
access-group outside_in in interface outside
Anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong? I'm not the firewall guy as you can tell. :/

Block / Deny ICMP Echo (Ping) on Cisco ASA Outside Interface
Most networks that you protect with a Cisco ASA device, will probably want to deny ICMP (maybe not all ICMP types, but a lot of network admins will want to block ICMP Echo, etc.) on the outside interface. This will make the network harder to find through external enumeration, but not impossible.
ASA5505(config)#icmp deny any outside
You will deny ICMP on the outside interface, but if you include ICMP as a protocol in the default global policy map, you can ping from the inside to any host on the outside, and it will be permitted back through the ASA, as it knows about the previous ICMP “connection

Ever since the upgrade to Mavericks, I cannot open a Pages (or Numbers) template without being asked.....
Do you want to add this custom template to the Template Chooser? Then my only options are Cancel or Add to Template Chooser.
If I cancel, it won't open anything.
But this template is already in my Template Chooser.
So the only way to open a template in Pages (or Numbers) is to open the application first, and then click "New", and choose the template.
I can't figure out a way to open the template from outside the application, which is very very handy, rather than having to open the application every time that I want to access a template.
How can I open a template simply by clicking on it?

How to make the application access the fonts from outside library?

actually the fonts located in the library are considered from the system/library/fonts path. is it possible to make it accessible from outside that path through programatically for indesign applications? if yes means, how to do it?

the fonts menu inside InDesign lists the fonts from
for mac: System/Library/Fonts
Adobe InDesign CS2/fonts
for windows: C:\WINDOWS\Fonts
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS2\Fonts
is it possible to list the font from someother folder rather than this folders.

Domain computers can't runt RD Web applications when connected from outside company – Windows server 2012 R2

I have a question related to RDweb service.
I have successfully installed RD web role on windows server 2012 R2.
All went ok. I also installed a valid third party certificate.
I can connect from outside to the server and run applications using any devices: Ipad’s, mobiles and laptops.
The problem is that: Any Computer/Laptop that is joined on the domain can connect to RDWEB from outside the company BUT CAN'T RUN ANY APPLICATIONS. The RD session is taking long time it failes.
Note that from inside the network is working.
What it can be?

Hi,
The internet connection from where I’m doing the tests is quite good. I think the error with the latency is not relevant because probably the computerRD gateway it doesn’t allow it and that way it fails with this error. For a computer that never been joined
on the domain is working perfect no delay at all..
We are using RD Gateway … installed everything on the same machine Windows server 2012 R2.
When I click RemoteApp I see the remote the prompt of RD gateway, I click ok, then nothing happened for 2-3 min. after this time it brings the error with the delay.. OR “couldn’t connect on the remote computer because an error occurred on the remote
computer that you want to connect to.”
Again, the connection is failing ONLY when we try to connect from outside the company and it happened ONLY with the Computers that are joined on the Domain.
EX: An user (with Office Laptop - joined on domain) can connect to RD Gateway and lunch the RemoteApp’s from inside LAN but when is leaving Home can’t run the Remote App;s. In the meantime he can connect and run RemoteApp’s with his private computer.
What it can be different between the Office and his home private computer?
For Outside users we’ve have open only port 443 on firewall. Why need to open UPD 3391?
I’ve notice that if I take a laptop that is working and join it on the domain it will have the same issue. If will dis-join it will still have the same issue after all.

Java: Your security settings have blocked an untrusted application from running

I keep getting the error "Your security settings have blocked an untrusted application from running" when trying to access the Web Interface of an HP printer....I don't know the model of the printer since I cant get into it, but it does say HP. I am trying to access it using IE 11, but also tried it in chrome and it is saying "The Plugin is not supported".
I have updated Java, went into the Java control panel > Security tab > Added the printers IP address to the exception list. I still get this error. Can't turn the Java security lower than High anymore....there just isn't an option for it. I have had this happen on multiple printers before, and Google hasn't helped so far, figured I would ask you all while I continue my search.
Anyone else run into this?

I'm not sure anyone here knows more about the Java plugin than you do...
Were you starting the control panel from disk as administrator because it didn't work starting it through the Start menu (if you have Control Panel set to View by Category, the Java control panel is under "Programs").

Can't download an application from the net because of an apple security block

I can't install an application from the net because of some Apple security block. How do I remove or get around the block? The instructions in help say to double click the application and all that happenes is that I get the same window saying I can't install.

It's usually not necessary to change any security settings, and as a rule you shouldn't.
To make a one-time exception to the security policy, follow these instructions. They apply to Installer packages and other installable items as well as applications.
Some defective software installers may fail when Gatekeeper is enabled. Think carefully about whether you really want to run such an installer. If you do, temporarily change the setting to
Allow applications downloaded from: Anywhere
When the installation is done, revert the setting.
Some applications that don't have a developer signature have been reported not to launch the first time unless Gatekeeper is disabled. The warning message from Gatekeeper is that the application "is damaged and can’t be opened." Again, think carefully about whether you want to trust the application. If you do, disable Gatekeeper as above, launch the application, and then re-enable Gatekeeper. If you still get the warning, delete the application.
