I know that AIM and other accounts can have "buddies" blocked. But is there a way to block a CONTACT from writing you on iMessages for Mac. I have mountain lion. I blocked this person on my iPhone, but they are still able to send me messages and it comes through on my computer. How do I block a contact on my computer? When I go to Preferences > iMessage account, there are not two tabs at the top that I keep reading about. I have no blocked tab. It just shows the email and phone number that I can get messages from. Can someone please help me get to where I can block CONTACTS, not buddies, from my iMessages on my Mac?

My old Brother printer has churned out 60,000 pages and is still going strong. And it has worked without problems on every OS version since 10.4. That model is no longer being sold, but i would recommend the Brother brand without reservation.

  • What happens to the iMessages a blocked contact sends you? Will recieve those messages once you unblock them?

    Blocked users, where iMessages go

In my experience the Message will show as delivered at the senders end but on the device that has blocked the number the message will never be received, even if the number is unblocked at a later date the messages sent while it was blocked won't ever be received.

  • Block number in imessage by changing phone number?

Obviously I cannot block someone through imessage.  I blocked them from calling or texting me through Verizon.  BUT, if I change my mobile number, will that work?  Currently, in my settings, the only way I can be reached through imessage is my phone number.  So if I change that, will it work?  I know my phone number is still associated with my Apple ID so I am a little confused.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

Depends on whether you are using the same iCloud account on the device, or if you are syncing Contacts via iTunes, if you are syncing both devices to the same computer.
When you block someone, no matter which application you "launch" the block from (Messages, Phone, FaceTime) you are blocking the Contact. So, any app that uses that contact will see it as a blocked contact and will block any incoming activity to that app from that contact.

I have a new MacBook Pro and I followed these instructions, downlonading and installing the new Flash plugin. But when I looked in "/Library/Internet Plugins" there was no folder called "Disabled Plugins".
However, I did see two versions of Flash:
    _Flash Player.plugin with old date
    Flash Player.plugin with todays date
I deleted _Flash Player.plugin and this fixed the problem.

  • How do I sync my contacts to iMessage on my MacBook Pro?

I cannot sync my contacts to iMessage so there are just numbers in there. Can someone please help me figure out how to sync my contacts?

    Hi,
After signing in to iCloud on the Mac and the iOS device you have to Enable the Contacts apps to sync.
On the Mac this is System Preferences > iCloud and tick the Contacts app box.
You then need to make the similar setting on the iOS settings.

  • Re: How do I delete blocked contacts appearing on ...

Urgent!!!!  I hope this gets to Microsoft ASAP...  My son who is a minor IS receiving these girlcam requests.... 2 of them so far and they are blocked and we deleted their chat history.  They asked him for his credit card details of all things to verify his age.  They say they are searching him on the members directory.  They shouldn't be able to contact him at all if they are not on his contact list.
Please add age related restrictions to contact usage Microsoft and please fix the above issue of not being able to delete blocked contacts from the home screen.  We cleared the chat history already.
    Thanks.

Hi, Tazzajb, and welcome to the Community,
... and please fix the above issue of not being able to delete blocked contacts from the home screen.
This issue has been fixed; please ensure your son's Skype software is updated: Download Skype  If your son is using v. 6.16, please post back to advise if he is still seeing the pictures or avatars of blocked contacts on his Skype Home window.
    Thank you,

  • How can I see from my contact who use iphone (ios 5) for contact with imessage?

How can I see from my contact who use iphone (ios 5) for contact with imessage?

Well, let take the personal service point of view : let say, I had two calendars on my iCloud account : one for work, one for my leisure activities.
On my MacBook Pro that I use at home as well as at my office, I would want the two calendars to show and since I am alone in my office, I would want the alerts for both my work and my leisure activities to show (and make a sound at the same time).
But on my iPad that I only use at home, I would only want my leisure activities alerts to show (and make a sound) and on my iPhone that I only use for work, I would only want my work alerts to show (and make a sound).
That is a personal service that simply does not work.
Why would Apple give us the opportunity to hide some calendars on certain devices but not allow us, on these same devices, to switch off the alerts linked to these calendars that we have chosen to hide ? Why having alerts of calendars that do not even show on these devices ?
And I am an Apple fan since 1984, since the very first Mac. I still do believe Macs and Apple devices and/or software (iOS, OS X and others...) are much better and much more efficient than " Microsoft, Windows, Google and other Android devices and software.
But that does not mean everything's perfect (and I find that quite normal).
Nevertheless, in this case, letting alerts make a sound on a device where a specific calendar is not shown, that does not make any sense : when uncheking those calendars, the alerts linked to those calendars should be automatically switch off (but alerts should be able to work on the calendars that are shown.)

  • How do I register a contact in iMessages?

How do I register a contact in iMessages?

First of all, you need to have an imessage account and the other person too.
After that, just type in the email they used to register for imessage, type in the message, click send, it should work.

  • Blocked Contact still sees when I come online.

I have been wondering about what happens when I block someone, (if it is like other sites where you simply disappear from them completely or what). So I created a second account to see and friended then blocked my main account from the second. I (on the main account) get notifications of the other account coming online and then going offline. Why is it doing that and what is the point if the blocked person can still stalk me (the reason I have someone blocked to start with, now I know they can still see me!!).
I'm on my Alienware X51 desktop, Windows 7 Home Premium, Skype version 7.0.0.102, cable connection to internet modem. I've checked as much as I know how to check, but I want to appear offline ALWAYS even if that other person keeps me on their list, it seems a bit flawed that a blocked contact is merely unable to tell you they're still watching you.
*Edit* I'd like to appear offline always to these BLOCKED people, not to everyone on my list, that is ridiculous and I might as well not have a skype account if the people I want to know I'm online can't tell.

I have read majority of the posts regarding "blocked contacts" and what the "blocked contact sees."  And there appears to be so much confusion.
So, simple question, in year 2015, what Exactly does the blocked contact see once blocked?
Will they see me appearing ON or OFF line from now on?
And will I still be in their contacts list?  (I've read the answer is, "yes, I will appear in their contacts list, but with a ? adjacent to my name).
I just blocked my first contact and would appreciate a complete and official answer.  The confusion here is quite vast.  Plus, several years have gone by since last post from Skype regarding this issue.  You'd think there would be a simple paragraph in guidelines stating exactly what occurs when you block a contact, or when you have been blocked by a contact.
It's not that complicated, but apparently it is because there is no clear & thorough explanation.

  • Remove contact details from blocked contacts

    Hi, Malcolm,
Not sure exactly what you are trying to achieve?  Could you please kindly post back with more details?  Even if a contact is blocked, and that contact is relegated to your Blocked Contacts list, whatever they typed into their account profile would remain.
    Regards,
    Elaine

    Hi, Malcolm,
a-HA!  Before you do this, please remember that as soon as you un-block a contact, that contact can once again try to send you contact invitations.
There is considerable debate about this here on this message board: in order for Skype to continuously block communications from a contact that is blocked, the contact's account name must remain on your blocked contact list.  Others would prefer to be rid of this list.
In short, you have to un-block the blocked contact, and then you can delete the contact from your contact list.  This FAQ article explains how to un-block a blocked contact:
    https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10488/how-do-i-block-or-report-a-contact-in-skype-for-windows-desktop?
    In the Windows Desktop version,
If you wish to unblock a contact:
In the main menu, select Tools > Options.
In the Skype Options box, select Privacy > Blocked Contacts. A list of blocked contacts is displayed.
Select the contact you'd like to unblock and click Unblock this person.
Right-click on the contact's name now that it is back on your contact list, and then click on Remove from Contacts.
    Done!
    Best regards,
    Elaine

  • Lync 2013 client - Set people to "Blocked Contacts" relationship by default?

We are in the process of implementing Lync Server 2013 (on-premises). We have already implemented one front end pool and one edge pool and successfully tested the basic functionality.  Now we are moving on to configuring the various policies based
on our requirements. One requirement that has come late in the planning is to prevent people from receiving IMs unless they explicitly allow people to IM them and to have the ability to whitelist IMs from people on an individual basis.  This is a feature
that was submitted as a requirement by way of our IT HelpDesk manager.
From what I gather, this could be accomplished if someone had the ability to set the default to the "Blocked Contacts" relationship for everyone instead of "Colleagues".  In my research on how to set that as the default, I found
a setting "ShowManagePrivacyRelationship" in Set-CsClientPolicy.  I created a new per-user client policy called "TEST" and applied it to myself.  Then I set ShowManagePrivacyRelationShip to $true via PowerShell on the TEST policy.
However, even hours after making the change and signing out and back into the Lync 2013 client, I still don't see any change in functionality or new options.
Now, if I instead sign in with the Lync 2010 client, I can indeed see a "Manage Privacy Relationships" option in a drop-down near the right side of the client which takes me to a view where I can see and move "People in my company" and
"People in domains connected to my company" pseudo-contacts from the "Colleagues" relationship to "Blocked Contacts" and this accomplishes exactly what we want to do.
Where can I find the "Manage Privacy Relationship" setting in Lync 2013 client?  If there is no setting called that, how can I accomplish what I am trying to do using Lync 2013?
I would rather not use the Lync 2010 client, as our HelpDesk technicians all use Windows 8.1 and Office 2013.

    David:
Yes, I have all of those relationships categories in Lync 2013.  What I am missing is the ability to set the rest of the organization to
Blocked Contacts by default.  I can do this with the Lync 2010 client using the same user login and the same Lync Server 2013 environment.
The following image demonstrates the location of the Manage Privacy Relationships option I would like to leverage in Lync 2013.  The image is of the Lync 2010 client.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/i0g83i9su9e5zox/Manage_Privacy_Relationships.png
If I click that Manage Privacy Relationships option, I end up on the following screen.  Note that there is a
People in my company object under Colleagues.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/kkatgtoexea7evt/Default_Privacy_Relationships.png
I am able to move that People in my company object to another relationship option.  I moved it to
Blocked Contacts, as you can see below.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/956kw0ih15uksgr/People_In_Company_Blocked.png
As you can see in the following image, after making this change if I do not have a person on my Contacts list, they are unable to IM me.  As you can see in my Lync 2013 client relationships list, no one is in my
Blocked Contacts list yet the Lync Test Account is being blocked due to the fact that I put People in my company there and haven't added them to my Contacts list.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/cue09wjj8tidbau/Blocked.png
After adding the Lync Test Account to my Contacts list, the Lync Test Account is able to IM me.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/nalju5ia980lc30/Unblocked.png
I hope these images help make clear that there seems to be a capability present in the Lync 2010 client that I am unable to locate in the Lync 2013 client.  I can't find this
Manage Private Relationships option anywhere in the Lync 2013 client or any other option that lets me see those People in my company and People in domains connected with my company objects.
With regards to the EnablePrivacyMode option, I am already aware of it and that is not what we are looking for.
