Blocking extensions in CUCM

Hi, is it possible to restrict one extension added in CUCM to another extension added in same CUCM.
Like 1234 is being used by one Manager. 1230 is used by staff. Manager doesnt want to talk woth staff. so he wants to block his extension. Cisco IP Phone 7962

Just put Manager's extension in a partition that can't be reached by CSS assigned to Staff's DN.

Can you tell us what versions of CUCM and CUxAC you are using? Just extensions alone in CUCM will not sync to the corporate directory within the attendant console application. You will at least have to have user's associated with those extensions and depending on your rule set within the console that should then bring those extensions into the console directory.

Best safari popup blocker extension?

I am new to safari and the sites i visit i get pop ups. I was looking for a pop up blocker but i dont know which is the best. What do you think is the best pop up blocker extension ?

And of course, Safari has its' own. Adblocker. They will work side by side.

Image blocker extension for Safari

Sometimes I have slow connnections and/or bandwidth limits and would like to block images from loading on all sites. I'd also like an image placeholder that can be clicked to load selected images—like a Flashblocker works.
Does anyone know of a Safari extension that does this? Im using OS 10.6.8 and Safari Version 5.1.10.

Other than Safari's Preferences > Security setting "block pop-up windows" a completely reliable popup blocker or ad blocker does not exist. Adblock Plus is popular, but it will cause some websites to break or to render improperly. Whatever you choose be aware of those unintended effects. Disabling them is easy enough.
Edit to add: ClickToPlugin (a superset of ClickToFlash) is one I like, but it's not intended to be all-encompassing popup blocker: https://hoyois.github.io/safariextensions/clicktoplugin/

How to reenable blocked extensions after Firefox update?

After updating to Firefox 27 some extensions are apparently blacklisted by Firefox, which makes it impossible to run rather vital components, which makes Firefox near to unusable for some pages, especially FDM. While it is probably useful to disable extensions without consent of the users, it is quite annoying that this is not reversible.
If there is some super-secret method to renable extensions, it is not easy to find, at least my Google search didn't turn anything up.

That is a risk you take when you switch to the beta update channel.<br />
Not all extensions are already compatible with the beta version and in such a case Firefox will disable the extension.
You can try to reinstall the extension via its Add-ons page and override this block via the Add to Firefox button (install anyway).<br />
Note that installing an extension doesn't guarantee that the extension will work properly, so use with caution.
Otherwise you would have to edit the install.rdf file in the extension's xpi (zip) archive to bump the max-version.

Is it possible to transfer an active call from a PLAR line to another extension? CUCM 9.1

We have multiple PLAR's set up that work great but not everyone has them on their phone. So the problem arises when someone who does not have a certain PLAR on their phone and wants to join the conversation. We had hoped that we could transfer/conference the call on the PLAR to the extension of the person who does not have it on their phone but get a busy tone as soon as the transfer key is pressed. Is this at all possible?

I am going to assume that you provisioned PLAR by using a "null" translation pattern (i.e. pattern with no digits). And that the phones will automatically connect to the PLAR destination when they go off hook.
When you try to do a transfer, the CUCM digit analysis process will use the same CSS logic as it does for a standard/direct call. So, the behavior you are observing is expected. You can't use a PLAR line as if it was a regular phone line.
Your scenario has sparked my curiosity. In my experience, PLAR lines are usually added to common area phones outside of a secure area or something similar. It sounds like you are using PLAR as secondary lines on user stations. I may be mis-interpreting your scenario but I am inclined to think that you may be better served by using other UCM features. More information about your requirements would be needed to give you proper guidance.
If interested then please share more info. Otherwise, the answer to your original question concerning PLAR is that it doesn't work the way you want it too.

Coding block extension imacting existing ledger

Hello,
Does somebody know if when extending the coding block with a new field, this automatically adds this field into all existing ledgers (total and line item tables) ? I raise this question because we intend to do this in a productive system. In this case do we need to plan a whole regenration of those ledgers when we put the change in production ?

if i get it right the first two function modules don't have any functionallity for making subtotals. the next two just put excel-data into internal format.
the last may be a possibility to use an external excel makro .
but i think it must be possible to do this by OLE.

CUCM 9.11 to 9.12 upgrade "Partitions Aligned"

I have a customer who wants to verify if their CUCM 9.1.1 disks Partitions are Aligned prior to proceeding with the 9.1.2 upgrade. Is there a TAC approved procedure that can be performed prior to the upgrade to validate the CUCM Partitions are Aligned?

Cisco TAC provided the following procedure:
•1)      Shutdown the vm
•2)      Logged in using root username/password for ESXi
•3)      cd /vmfs/volume
•4)      ls (to list all my datastores)       Now find the datastore that you used to install the Vms
•5)      cd    Example in my lab : cd datastore2
•6)      ls (list all the VMs in the datastore)
•7)      cd “VM name”      USE quotes if your VM name contains any spaces
•8)      ls   (you should see a file with .vmdk extension. IT Will word flat before it)
•9)      fdisk –lu < filename-flat.vmdk>
The output will be something like this. The key is too look for partition to start at “128” This one does.   If its something like 63. Then its not aligned.

Blocking Ad servers via etc/host file not working

In Snow Leopard I add a list of ad servers and direct them to 127.0.0.1 via the /ect/host file.
I've configured the host file on my mac mini server and it doesn't work.
i just want to block ads when using browsers ON the Mini.
How can I achieve this?

Yeah; that's an old-time Windows and Unix hack.
There are ad-blocking extensions for all major web browsers, and those are easier to manage and maintain.
Off the top, I'd have to check the search order to see if I was getting a response from remote DNS or from /etc/hosts here.
If you're running a Mac OS X Server box, you're hopefully also running DNS services, and if you're running DNS services, then that's going to be where this hackery gets implemented. Add bogus zones. And if DNS gets an answer from its cache, I wouldn't tend to expect it to go read /etc/hosts (for performance reasons), for that matter.
There may well be an ad-blocking DNS server around you can forward queries to, too; I haven't looked for that.
If you make changes to your local /etc/hosts setup, try issuing the following to clear the cache:
dnscacheutil -flushcache
I'd recommend installing an ad-blocker. /etc/hosts is an old-school approach and can end up causing weirdnesses on errors, particularly if your box is (also) a DNS server for your LAN. (Also realize that Apple isn't documenting the /etc/hosts file in the Mac OS X Server 10.6 networking manual.)

Flash blocked on a site, doesn't load (remains invisible) and has no error messages

I like to listen to a radio station but whenever I open their site the embedded player on top is simply not visible at all. It should be right on top of the add but it is not loading: http://i.imgur.com/e14UPsy.png
The site uses flash but I have flash (the latest) and do not have problems on other websites using it such as Youtube, Dailymotion or Vimeo. It is also listed in my add on page and the website to check runs correctly.
However I can't do much on the website of the radio since nothing is visible concerning the player.

I tried IE which I only use to see if something is a browser problem or a site problem and the player loads correctly in that browser.
I get no error messages, popups or anything when visiting it through Firefox.
I also installed the latest Javaa to see if this was the problem, and verified it on the Javaa website that it is working.
Flash is not blocked in the add on menu.
I turned off all my add block extensions to see if it caused the problem. No result.
On IE I have to enable Flash runtime to run it.
I don't think it is a Javascript problem but Flash (I stated in a respond that perhaps it is java related but that is not true I think).

I see the (Flash?) player in Google Chrome, but not in Firefox, so it is possible that the script that creates the player isn't compatible with Firefox or otherwise isn't working.
There are errors in the Browser Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer).

How can i download extension updates as files, to install on another computer?

Installed FF on my wife's work computer, in our gradeschool library. The network that she is connected to allows FF to be updated, but blocks extension updates. How can i download extensions as files, to a stick at home, to update her computer? Extensions used are AdBlock+, TabMix+, NoScript, ForecastFox, checkCompatability, and (since FF29) Classic Theme Restorer.
Both machines running Win7; FF28 at home, FF29 in the library.

<br>then you will end up with a .xpi file that you can put on a memory stick and install on the target pc by dragging the file into an open firefox window.

Video endpoint registerd to VCSc calling CUCM

I have an EX90 registered to a VCSc with a SIP trunk connected to CUCM. An extension on CUCM can call the endpoint registered to the VCSc, but when a video endpoint tries to call an extension on the CUCM the call fails, but the video endpoint can dial 9+10 digitit numberaor 9+1+!0 digits. i have set up a specific search rule to match an exact extension number in CUCM to match but the call still fails. In the call history of the VCSc the result is 404 not found - I am using SIP.

HI Michael. Are you aslo using the CUBE in the same manner here also? Reading the case it seems the call has to go out via PSTN and manages to go through a CUBE. The CUBE is rejecting it because it has no valid caller id? So I'm assuming that the PAI would need to be modified in this instance when the call is passed from VCS to CUCM.
VCS can't manipulate that far down in the initial INVITE. I'd have to check to see if a CPL would do this, but I'm doubting it, but will check around for you.
if you have endpoints running TC6.3, you can ultimately try this to see if this will work for you.
1) H323 protocol on endpoint - Remove the h323ID from the system.
2) Verify E164 alias is programmed on the system and is registered to VCS.
3) Place call as H323 so that the interwork function (IWF) send call as SIP towards CUCM. Since the h323ID is missing, IWF may pick up E164 alias in P-Asserted Identity (PAI) and send the call to CUCM.
Now, you can test this...I can't guarantee it will work, but from reading the notes, they want something numeric versus alphanumeric and maybe if we place the E164 alias in the PAI it will help. Can't guarantee it though...let us know..
