Blocking individual devices on Google Fiber internet

Figured I'dpost info in old threadsand then here...The old CC User Regex allowed me to block unwanted non domain emails from creating Tickets in my helpdesk...That is no longer working...Yes I can use exchange to create rules - but this is a PITA adding "People" to the people list and this is why this regex was implemented I thought...My Version: Version7.4.00070Have no idea when it started - but it was fine about 1/3 years ago.. and haven't had any issues... but haven't needed to worrry... but if a user CCs an outside domain I don't want them on the tickets.Settings Helpdesk SettingsPro Settings OnCC User Regex:reading the tool tip says To & CC users that don't match that express bla bla bla(*@domainabc.com)[email protected] should not have been able to create a ticket... tested with two different accounts from gmail and they walk in...

I ran across this thing the other day. http://greatscottgadgets.com/throwingstar/
$15 for the kit $40 for assembled. I made the same thing for like $.05. Took some cat5E cable, one had a broken end so I cut that off and it become the monitor lead.
I set it up with a desktop, router, laptop. Ran ping -T to router and captured it all on the laptop.
Connect 2 systems to the blue cable, the monitor system connects to the gray cable.

  • My internet keeps freezing and blocking other devices

My wifi works for about 10 seconds then freezes,  it also blocks other devices from using the wifi (when I switch off they are fine), have tried re-setting and clearing the computer and internet history, does any one have any advice please?

THe Gen3 TC fails on the ethernet side fairly often due to capacitor failure.
    See here.
    https://sites.google.com/site/lapastenague/a-deconstruction-of-routers-and-modem s/apple-time-capsule-repair/new-issue-with-a1355-gen-3-tc
There are two distinct issues.. capacitors shorted and the whole thing stops.. capacitors lose their function .. go open circuit if you like and then the ripple goes up to the point where ethernet fails.

  • Can I turn off access to individual devices?

I have an airport extreme and am wondering if I can control access to individual devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod touch).  The perfect scenario, would be for me to turn off wireless access to my kids devices from 9pm until 7am during the school week.  Probably just wishful thinking, but thought I would ask the community.

The Timed Access feature in AirPort Utility for the AirPort Extreme will allow you to set up individual rules for each wireless device that you want to control.
For example, a simple way to do this would be to allow allow Internet access for the devices that you specify........
    Weekdays.......Between.....7 AM and 9 PM
Saturday.........Between......7 AM and 11 PM, (or up to 11:59 PM)
    Sunday...........Between......7 AM and 9 PM
The devices that you specify will only be able to connect to the network during the times that you set.  That won't keep them from using 3G though, if they have it on their iPhones or iPads.

  • How to block mobile devices connected to internal Wi-Fi networks on Lync 2013

How to block mobile devices connected to internal Wi-Fi networks on Lync 2013.
we don't have lyncdiscoverinternal.contoso.com and lyncdiscover.contoso.com in internal DNS record, all mobile users are connecting from Internet, and we want it to be that way.
So if I create the lyncdiscoverinternal.contoso.com record for Windows desktop clients autodiscover, how do I block internal mobile users from connecting to Lync??
    Praveen | MCSE Messaging 2003

    Hi Praveen,
Based on my experience, one way to achieve this purpose you need to use the Reverse Proxy that is integrate with a Firewall (e.g. TMG 2010 , F5, etc…).
Please have a look at the following picture.
    In Lync Server 2013,
both the internal Mobility Service URL and the external Mobility Service URL are associated with the external Web Services FQDN.
From the above picture, if you use a reverse proxy that is
separate from the firewall, then the hairpin will be created,
and cause the mobile client which connected to the internal Wifi will be able to
access the external interface of the Reverse Proxy.
In this situation, the mobile client which from Internet will not be effected.
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • Blocking one device?

I know this sounds **bleep**, but bear with me. I have no clue about any of this. Is there a way to block one device from using the wireless in my house? Let's say, hypothetically of course, that I want to block a certain adolescent's iPod from accessing the internet. Can I block just that device? Or is there a way to set up a password that everyone who uses the wireless would have to have?
    Thanks in advance....

    Yes to both questions.
    1)  If you want to block a specific device, you can use an advanced filter.
    Click on the Advanced icon
    Select Network Objects
Click Add.  The Edit Network Object screen is displayed.
Enter a description such as "Blocked iPods".
    Click Add again
Select MAC address from the pull-down.
Enter the MAC address of the iPod you want to block.
APPLY.  The Network Objects screen is displayed.
Click ADD if you want to add another device to the rule, otherwise APPLY.
Click on the Firewall Settings icon.
Select Advanced Filtering from the menu on the left.
Under Output Rule Sets, Click ADD across from Wireless Access Point Rules
Add Advanced Filter screen is displayed.
From the Source Address field, select "Blocked iPods".
From the Operation radio button, select drop.
In the "When should this rule occur" pull-down, select Always or create a schedule.
    APPLY
    Click APPLY again.

  • How to connect airport extreme to google fiber?

I have the Airport Extreme as the primary wifi station and add an Airport Extreme later. I recently connected to the Google Fiber network. I cannot figure out how to use this setup with Google Fiber . Any suggetions on how this can be done?

As I said in the first reply .. the AE router was not designed for fibre.. and I have seen lots of people have issues for basic network problems to do with how ISP hand out IP and gateway addresses.
Post the screenshots of what you have done..
Did you get the AE plugged into fibre to work?
Does Google use DHCP or PPPOE .. I am not in US so I am not familiar with the system used there.
Post the main summary page. Then click the edit and post the Internet tab, wireless tab and network tab screenshots.
Yosemite can be a particular hassle.. so please keep the setup in this way.
Start with a full factory reset.
    Factory reset universal
Power off the AE.. ie pull the power cord or power off at the wall.. wait 10sec.. hold in the reset button.. be gentle.. power on again still holding in reset.. and keep holding it in for another 10sec. You may need some help as it is hard to both hold in reset and apply power. It will show success by rapidly blinking the front led. Release the reset.. and wait a couple of min for the AE to reset and come back with factory settings. If the front LED doesn’t blink rapidly you missed it and simply try again. The reset is fairly fragile in these.. press it so you feel it just click and no more.. I have seen people bend the lever or even break it. I use a toothpick as tool.
Then redo the setup from the computer with Yosemite. (same though with earlier OS if you are not using Yosemite.. this still helps)
    1. Use very short names.. NOT APPLE RECOMMENDED names. Use no spaces and pure alphanumerics, no special characters.
eg AEgen5 and AEwifi for basestation and wireless respectively.
Even better if the issue is more wireless use AE24ghz and AE5ghz with fixed channels as this also seems to help stop the nonsense.
    2. Use all passwords that also comply but can be a bit longer. ie 8-20 characters mixed case and numbers.. no non-alphanumerics.
    3. Ensure the AE always takes the same IP address.. this is not a problem when the AE is the main router.. by default it is 10.0.1.1
    4. Check your share name on the computer is not changing.. make sure it also complies with the above.. short no spaces and pure alphanumeric..
    5. Make sure IPv6 is set to link-local only in the computer. For example wireless open the network preferences, wireless and advanced / TCP/IP.. and fix the IPv6. to link-local only.

  • On v880 : "metadb:  has bad master block on device"

    Hi,
In my production environment I have a v880 server.  While I was trying to replace a bad disk I had the
message:   metadb: oradb1: has bad master block on device, when I ran the metadb -a -f -c3 /dev/dsk/c1t1d0s5
I can not find any information on the internet. Also, I have seen the thread https://community.oracle.com/thread/1918834, which is very old.
According to the thread I have to split all the submirrors and create the mirrors again. That is very difficult for me to do it, because I have mounted volumes.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Panos

OK - after talking with a very knowledgable/helpful guy in Sun's storage group, the problem is solved. It turned out that since the new disk had a different DevID, the mirror did not get correctly restored. The solution was to do the following (note: d23 is the slice where I was trying to create the state db):
    # metaclear d23
    # metadb -a -c 2 c1t11d0s7
    # metattach d3 d23
He also referred me to doc 73132
    Thanks Dan!

  • Setting up a new TC.  Everything went fine.  I was able to connect a macbook air, 2 ipads, an Iphone 6, and even a windows 7 PC.  All devices showed a complete and functioning internet connection, but none of the devices could access the internet.

I am trying to set up internet connection to my home using a 3gig Airport time capsule as a router.  I unplugged the cable from the existing router, and plugged it into the ethernet port of the TC.  The TC fired up found tttttttthe internet connection, and glowed green.  I set up the password, and all, and was then able to connect a Windows 7 PC, 2 ipads, and iphone 6, and a macbbook air, all running the most current os.  All devices connect with the internet via the Airport device.  they all say that there is a fully functioning internet connection, but none of them can actually connect to the internet.  When I run a speed test via OKLA I am told that the test failed to innatiate. When I try to do a search I get an error message that the page cannot open because safari cannot make a secure connection to the server.
    Any suggestions?

Inside the house I have what looks like a phone cable that is plugged into a power supply, and into a router.
What is this router?? Is it the TC or a router supplied by the ISP?
It will depend on how the system works.. but the instructions from skybeam are fairly simple.. you just setup a router with dhcp set on the WAN port for connection.
On the airport utility open your TC by clicking it then clicking edit.
Make sure the WAN is set correctly and the ISP ethernet cable is plugged into it.
And make sure Network is set to DHCP and NAT.
Please give me the screenshots of the same things from your setup.

  • How do I use airport extreme to control individual device access?

I don't understand how I can control individual device access to the web using my AirPort Extreme.
I set up the network on a PC (for technical reasons) but hoping to control access of individual devices (including a Mac but also iPods and iPads) to the web using an iPad (although can use the PC if necessary).  I have downloaded AirPort Utility on the PC and an iPad but can't work out what to do next.
Can anyone please provide some instructions or point me in the right direction?

The AE has no controls except timed access to wireless.. is that what you are after??

If my wife and I share our Imac but have separate Iphones and Ipads, can we set up 2 separate Iclouds on the Imac?  Or do we have 1 Icloud account and synch our individual devices separately?

Set 2 independent users on the iMac, each can then have their own accounts (iCloud, iTunes etc)

  • View Individual Device Data Usage on Shared Plan

Hello, I was recently given a smart phone on my employer's plan (I previously had a regular phone, so did not incur data usage charges). I can view the overall plan's data usage on my phone, using the Verizon app, but I can't see where to view my individual device's data use. I created a Verizon account here on the web, and using the online tools here I can see my individual use, but I would like to do so on my phone.
I can use my phone's settings to see what it says my data use is (which just about matches what Verizon says) but I would rather have the Verizon totals shown on my phone, just to be sure what the actual data being billed is.

I know keeping tabs on your data usage is important Felderburg. If you are a user on a company account, you may not have the full access to My Verizon Mobile. You would typically be able to see the individual line usage by clicking the "shared data" option under the usage estimate total. I'm pleased you have been able to gain this information online via your computer. As an additional option on the phone if you don't have full access, you can dial #DATA.

  • Usb block special device not writable

This is a system programming / kernel level issue.
I'm doing some hardware development on Mac OS X. When I plug the USB device in question in, I get a message box like this: "Disk Insertion: The disk you inserted was not readable by the computer" with two options, Ignore and Eject. If I choose ignore, the USB device can be accessed via the block special device /dev/disk1. However, /dev/disk1 cannot be opened for writing, even as root: the open(2) call always fails with EACCESS.
A "diskutil info /dev/disk1" reports "Read Only: Yes." Could this be the issue? How does Mac OS decide to set this flag?
FYI, a userspace program that interacts with this device file has so far been ported successfully to Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD. There's no read-only toggle switch on the device itself.
Thanks in advance for any info you may have.

Ok, I've managed to rebuild the IOUSBMassStorage kext from source, with DEBUG_LEVEL cranked way up. What follows is the syslog trace that comes right after plugging in the device. The first error we hit is kIOUSBPipeStalled, and then things finally snowball up to kIOReturnNotResponding. I'm no USB expert, but shouldn't a call to IOUSBPipe::ClearPipeStall(true) have been made pretty soon after the first error?

Hi Everone i need your help.
Saturday evening my iphone 4S device stolen.now its show unavailable am going to lodge a complaint in near police station but the asked for IMEI number that i does not remember so what will i do it is possible to track it? if not so please tell me how to block the device?
    Regards,

You can use the Find My iPhone feature on iCloud.com. That would need to have your 4s updated to iOS 6 and up to be able to track it and/or clear it. There are a thousand combinations to unlock the simple 4-pin password, so you still have time left to find your iPhone. For more information on how to use Find My iPhone, go to:

  • Ability to block individual premium text messages

I am receiving spam in the form of premium text messages from 33555.  My only option appears to be blocking receipt of all premium messages, which will not work for me.  I would like the ability to block individual premium text numbers.

You will need to send a Text message with one of the opt-out keywords below to the code that the message is coming from which you stated (33555). This will stop future billing for the Premium Messaging. However, charges for Premium Messaging may appear on the your bill for up to two full bill cycles after the Premium Messaging block has been added to the account. This is due to timing of the bill cycle and the premium service subscription opt-in date.
    Quit,
    Cancel,
    End,
    Unsubscribe ,
    Stop,
    Stop All
If opt-out confirmation not received meaning if you did not get a text right back stated the premium message has been stopped , then that's when we will have to go in and add the premium messaging block to stop you from receiving the alert and charge any further. Hope this Helps
