Blocking international access

just read an interesting article in the ny times which spoke
about how worldwide spam volumes have doubled... and that spam
accounts for more than 9 of 10 email messages sent.
since a good chunk of the junk comes from outside the country
- and presumably a good chunk of the programs that scour websites
looking for email addresses are out of the country - it seems like
it would be a good idea to block international access to a site
(assuming, obviously, that one doesn't care about the quality
viewers that will be lost in the process) and also block receipt of
incoming email that originated outside the country.
possible?

You'd better go take a nap. That's way too many paragraphs
for you
today.... 8)

  • Wireless ACL - Block internal access

I need to block all access from the guest wireless to our internal network.
The following is the ACL I've come up with so far for the guest SSID. I thought seq 1 and 2 would work - 1 allow clients to communicate with DHCP and 2 block access to all internal IP addresses. I had to add seq 3 for clients to access the internet as a workaround for now. Unfortunately because of seq 3 clients can also access everything else on our internal network.. I believe the descriptions are correct. Not 100% sure. It's what I want them to do anyway.
Our DHCP Windows server hands our guest wireless clients an IP address and sets their DNS to the DNS of our ISP not our internal DNS server.
The guest VLAN DHCP range is 10.55.12.50-10.55.13.254.
Our internal network is any IP in the 10.55 range.
Our controller is a Cisco 4402.
    How do I accomplish this?

Not a problem. The order is very important.
First allow access to all of your network. This ends up being last in the sequence. Then start denying access. For our network I permitted to all and then added vlans to deny. At the very beginning of the sequence is where I allowed access to specific devices/services on vlans that are blocked. Here is an example. There could be a better way of doing this. If there is please chime in.

  • Exchange 2013 OWA - Restrict External access to OWA, while keeping internal access open

I'm looking for the best way to restrict users who can access OWA externally, while keeping internal access to OWA open to everyone.  We would preferably like to control who has external access to OWA with an AD group. Users who have external access,
would need both external and internal access to OWA. Internal users would only have internal access to OWA.
TMG is off the table since it is EOL. Reverse proxy might be a possibility, but I'm running into issues with the security setup and passing credentials.
Does anyone know the best way of restricting external access without disabling internal access?
    Thanks

Not sure if this still applies to 2013 or not, haven't tried yet...

How do I replace someone else's Mac ID with my own?
Bought iPhone second hand on TradeMe.
Previous owner re-set the phone but his ICloud account stayed on now my phone. He uses his AppleID on his new iPhone now and, understandably, does not want to give me his password. Any ideas?? Please.
This issue is blocking my access to iTunes and any other file from my home computer. It keeps on telling me that I have to autorise my computer to pass on files, yet, it seems, for all this to happen, I need to get logged in through the phone's Apple ID. This of course is different to my one on my computer - and I have no password for it.
This phone is not stolen!! I payed still a fair bit for it. Am still in contact with the previous owner. He doesn't know how to fix the problem either.
    Would appreciate any suggestion ????
    Thanks

    Settings>general>resets>erase all content and settings.
That will put it back to its out of the box state. Set it up with your own apple Id.

  • Blocking internet access in a virtual windows xp box

Is there a way to block internet access when I have a virtual windows xp box within Windows 7?
The reason, is I just want to run one application and restrict internet access as I some users are restricted from the internet.
    Thanks

    Hi, Juke.
I'm afraid I'm a dummy, and don't know how to do this. I'm sure as April 8 approaches, a lot of people with important DOS or XP apps will be wanting to insulate their XP VM from potential hacking while still running programs locally.
      Thanks -- Dave K.

    Hi GirtsR,
I am not sure the command to use the SID to accomplish what you want to achieve, if you only know the SID, you could take use Powershell to find the related information, more information, please check:

  • HT1349 I have purchased a new PC and am being blocked from accessing my itunes account why ???

I have purchased a new PC and am being blocked from accessing my itunes account why???

You are being blocked how ?
If you mean that your library isn't showing then it won't automatically appear on it. You can authorise your iTunes account on it via the Store > Authorise This Computer menu option (with iTunes 11 pressing Alt-S should get the Store menu to appear). You will then need to either download your content onto it (what you can re-download will show under Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage), or copy if from your old computer or your backup.
If you are referring to something else ... ?

  • HT2529 This morning Voice Over started running on my computer, but when I go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES/INTERNATIONAL ACCESS the Voice Over option is off, so I turned it on and then off, but it's still on.  What else can I do to make it stop?

This morning Voice Over started running on my computer when I turned it on.  I did not turn Voice Over.  Could I have hit a combination of keys on the keyboard that accidentally turned it on?  When I went to System Preferences and chose Internation Access it showed that Voice Over was not even on.  I turned it on and turned it off to reset it, and it is still running.  How is this possible, and how to I get rid of it?
    Trumpeter

I went to System Preferences, Universal Access, and then VoiceOver for the fiftieth time after you said to check VoiceOver Utility to see if I saw anything odd.  On The VoiceOver screen it was actually saying that VoiceOver was on.  All day the VoiceOver option was off, and the computer talked to me everytime I logged in.  I tried turning it on and off and it still talked to me.  Now the VoiceOver option was on, so I turned it off again. Weird! I had tried several combinations of keys again and again as the tech instructed me to do, but we couldn't turn it off, but I have to admit that after my phone went dead I tried everything I could imagine; so maybe in trying to turn the talking off I turned the VoiceOver Option on. Anyway, somewhere along the way it quite talking to me.
Let me ask you a couple of questions.  When I clicked on VoiceOver Utility, after turning VoiceOver off, the screen message says: Speak the following greeting after login:  Welcome to Mac OSX.  VoiceOver is running. I was assuming that it meant VoiceOver was running.  That is what it is saying right now.   It's not talking to me anymore, but the screen says this whether the VoiceOver icon is on or off.  What is this all about.  Is it telling me that Voice Over is still running when I see this, or what?  After all, even when the OFF icon was chosen the computer still spoke to me when I hit each key upon logging in.  After you read the rest of this you will understand why I am asking if it is still running even though it's not talking to me.
There is a box that appears and says "Portable Preferences for (Jane Doe) have been detected on (JaneDoe).  Would you like to use them?    Always Use   /  No  /   Yes      What does that mean?
Last but not least. I was looking around and was clicking on Application, Documents, etc.  When I clicked on Documents, only four things came up even though there are tons of documents on my computer.  All four of them have to do with VoiceOver, and they were labeled as documents.  One of the documents had this in it:
    SCRConfiguration Cursor Tracking KBToVO
    SCRConfiguration Cursor Tracking VOToTXT
    SCRConfiguration Cursor Tracking VOToKB
I'm not a computer genius, so maybe I just don't know what I'm looking at.  Is it normal for something like this to be found under documents?  All of these were dated today, and the problems started today. I haven't gone to bed yet, so even though it's after midnight it's still the same day to me.  Anyway, none of the documents were dated before this problem started.  On top of that, I have tons of documents on my computer, but when I clicked on Documents, those four are the only ones that showed up.  After trying to decipher the programming language on them, I went to click on Applications and hit Documents again, and all the documents came up.  I scanned the list and didn't see them, but there are so many documents on here that I haven't had time to slowly go over them to see if I missed those four documents somehow. Since then I haven't been able to get just those four to appear by themselves again.
Now, is it possible that I still have a hacker and he knows through a key logger everything I am communicating to you and the Apple Store,  Maybe he did made a mistake and accidentally caused this problem, and through logging every key I have typed he has learned about his mistake and fixed it.  He could still be key logging me now without me knowing it; or maybe he removed the keylogger, because he know I'm taking it in to the Apple Store and can tell them now exactly what to look for.
It is either a hacker, or I have a very vivid imagination.  What do you think?

  • WRT1900AC does not block internet access in Parental Control

Hi,My router does not block internet access on my other PC. I tryed "Always" tryed specific addresses, tryed IP addresses and everything tech support suggested. I even replaced the router at their advise. Nothing helped. I realize that the problem is not the router but probably my home network configuration, but I can't figure out what is it. To my defence, so couldn't they Does anybody have or had such a problem?Thank you

  • Blocking international numbers?

Is there a way to get international calls blocked?
    More importantly calls from india?
On a daily basis I get cold callers from india calling me for various reasons like market research, PPI, Solar cells, Microsoft support scams etc.
It doesn't matter what I tell them the calls never stop. I had some success once by telling them the person they were calling was dead but that didn't last long.
These calls are really getting on my nerves now. They show up on the caller display as international. I've looked through BT caller features but I can't find a service to block international calls.
So does anyone know if there is a way to get BT to block all calls from india to my line?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

BT cannot do it, you would have to buy a 3rd party device like CPR Call Blocker, or Truecall.

  • Blocking international traffic to BC site

Does anyone know how to block international traffic to a BC website? We recieive a flood of traffic for international countries that drastically distort our analytic reports. Thanks for any help....

I understand the usability issue. It sucks to not have the information right when you log in. Sorry.
It is normal to get visits from international countries though. Sometimes I get a lot of visits from specific countries like you did from Ukraine. This usually happens in our case when companies or bots are trying to post their links in our blog.
Take advantage of the captcha from BC if you don't use it yet in your forms. I found extremely helpful lowering the number of spam that I was getting in both my blog posts and contact request tickets.

  • VPN and Exchange server blocks internet access

i had some difficulty configuring Entourage to connect to an Exchange server after establishing a VPN. When the VPN was up, but the Entourage was not working, I could use Safari or any other web access without problems. After getting the Entourage account running, it was populating the folders for what seemed like hours, so i wanted to do other things while waiting. Safari and AOL would not connect. Apparently Microsoft has figured out another way to mess with you on a Mac. Anyone had this problem?

It turns out that it's the VPN that is blocking web access. The first time I configured it a couple of months ago, it connected, and I could do whatever I wanted. When I tried to use the VPN the other day, all my settings had been erased for some reason and I had to reconfigure. It connected, I got into Entourage, used it, but when I tried to go to a web site Safari wouldn't connect. I closed Entourage, no dice. Today I connected without going into Entourage and Safari wouldn't connect. Without the VPN, Safari behaves itself. I have a PC upstairs with the same VPN and it allows use of your browser.
I connected to a different VPN host and still no browser on the Mac. Can not figure out what has happened.

  • WRT54G blocking INTERNAL traffic ?

    Hello everybody!
    I own a WRT 54 G v3.1 Firmware Version: v4.30.5.
Everything works fine except Age of Empires 2 Lan Games. I tried a direct connection between 2 PCs with a crossover cable and the game worked, but when we want to play via our router, we can't find hosted games. We don't want to play on the Internet, only on LAN. Is there any setting that is blocking internal Traffic ? Whats also strange: I tried DXdiag, as AOE2 uses DirectPlay, and DXdiag could establish a connection even when both PCs were connected via the router. Any ideas ? Thanks in advance.

If you have a software firewall installed connected a computer to a different router does make a difference. Those software firewalls remember the firewall settings based on where they are connected. A different router is a different location and thus has different firewall settings. Thus, you have to disable the firewall completely, maybe have to deinstall it completely (ZA is a good candidate for that) to verify whether or not it is related to the computer configuration.
Also, how do you connect between those computers for the game? Do they automatically detect each other? Do you have to enter IP addresses? Or how does it work?
Technically the LAN side of the router is a simple switch. It does not do any filtering there. It may be slightly different if a connection is wireless. It can be completely different if a router runs a 3rd party firmware.
