Blocking my number w/ text

I know if you dial *67 before making a call, it makes your number come up as restricted on the other person's caller id.  Is there any way to do this for text messaging as well?

No there is not. However you can use a text web site to send anonymous text messages. Check out the web site txt2day.

usually in the phone record show the number who is text you and the phone you sent a message. But since a week a go don't show the number of the person, and I received tons of messages everyday, but  on my phone record of text messages don't reflect the phone number. Is a way you can block your number??? so dont registrer in the phone record?

I understand the importance of viewing numbers in your message details hmaldonado. There is an option for individuals to block their number if it is restricted. What do you see on your phone for these messages you are referring to? Is this a number that is stored in your phonebook? Have you checked My Verizon online? Can you see calls from this person? What specific task are you trying to accomplish with this number? Here's how to access My Verizon. Select My Usage, then Usage details. http://bit.ly/xB4iTc

  • Blocking a number from texting you

I know you can block up to five numbers online using your verizon account.  I was wondering though, if I should be receiving some sort of email and/or text message confirmation once I block a number online to know that it worked?  I blocked a number earlier today and didn't receive a text or email confirmation.  I have a iphone 4S, if that helps.

When you put in the number to be blocked in your on-line My Verizon account, you should have seen a pop-up that said that the change was made.  That's usually the only notification you'll receive; I've sometimes received an e-mail, but not always.

  • HT201229 If I block a number , what does the caller, or text messager get as a response on their end?

If I block a number . What response does that party get if they call or text my number?

The call/message simply won't go through. If iMessage, it will show as delivered, but it actually won't be delivered.
Here's what it sounds like on their end, for calls:

how do i block my number when i send a text on my iphone 4s

In the U.S. the FCC adopted anti spoofing rules applying to extend the "Truth in Caller ID" act. The specific recommendation from Congress read:
Legislative recommendations include clarifying the scope of the Truth in Caller ID Act to include (1) persons outside the United States, (2) the use of IP-enabled voice services that are not covered under the Commission’s current definition of interconnected Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service, (3) appropriate authority over third party spoofing services, and (4) SMS-based text messaging services
It is illegal to falsify the originating number for SMS messages in the U.S. This was originally intended to target telemarketers and text message spammers. The end result, though, is that is is illegal to block your phone number when sending an SMS message. A number (or unique, tracable, identifier, in the case of some automated system) must be sent since the recipient is charged for receipt of the message.

  • If I block a number and send then a text will it still go through

I blocked a number and then forgot I blocked them and sent them a text will they receive it?

Yes they'll receive it(unless they have blocked you). Blocking occurs on your end, you won't get calls/SMS's/iMessages from them.

  • Blocked a number, still receiving texts. iMessage?

I recently blocked a number (using 1 of the 5 free temporary block spots) from someone who I am getting tired of hearing from. However, the day after, I received texts from them. Why would this occur? They also have an iPhone and it was sent through iMessage. Does the Verizon blocker not block iMessages? If not, then how do block it?
    Thanks.

Messages sent through imessage uses the data plan and won't be caught by the Verizon Wireless block.
I would suggest turning off imessage on your phone. This will force all messages to go through the Verizon Wireless network. You might need to adjust your message plan size if necessary.
I don't know if it possible to block someone from sending you an imessage.

  • How do I block a number from calling my iPhone

How do I block a number from phoning or texting me on my iPhone. My Provider (Optus) say they cannot block a number. Has anyone been able to do this?

  • How to block a number

How can i block a number from calling, texting, emailing and facetiming me including whatsapp?

You can't, only your carrier can do that, so contact them. Some carriers offer call/sms blocking, some don't. As far as blocking FaceTime calls, there is no way to do that other than turning FaceTime off or getting a new Apple ID. For whatsapp, you need to contact the app developer.

  • Can anyone tell me how to block a number from contacting me on my iphone please?

    Please can you help?
I am getting nuisance texts from a person & i dont want to have to change my phone number. My network provider says they cant help me but that it is possible with the iphone to block a certain number from texting/phoning me. I cant figure out how to do it though? please can anyoe help?
    many thanks!!

If you have AT&T you can call them and put Manage Smart Limits on your account and then you can log on your account and put the number you want blocked.  Not sure about the iPhone having a app to do this, cell phone calls and texts come through your network and it is your network that has to bock unwanted numbers.

  • I have an iPhone 4 but when I block a number it still gets through

So I really want to block this number, I don't want to talk to this guy anymore. He's just bothering me and I want nothing to do with him. I blocked him before and it worked but it isn't working now. I have the iPhone 4 and he has an iPhone also but not sure which one. I know he doesn't have verizon.
Why won't it let me block him for the 90 day period? It says you can block up to 5 numbers for free. How can I fix it? Thanks for your help, I really want this number blocked.

If they are still getting through using text messages, you should probably turn off your iMessages or change the settings for it to use only your phone number and not your Apple ID for transmitting the messages over the data connection.

  • Can I tell if someone blocked my number?

Hi.  New to the forums here, just signed up today.
I'm wondering if there's a way to tell if someone has blocked me from texting or calling them?  We're both Verizon customers but for the past two days my messages to him are being sent (they have the arrow next to the message) but it doesn't look like they've been received by him.  And when I call, it goes straight to his voicemail.
At first I thought he just has his phone shut off, but it's very unlike him to have it off for this long.  Is it possible that he's blocked my number?

Maybe the phone is lost?  Like Ann said, if your number was blocked, you would not get Voicemail, you would get a message that the call did not go through due to restrictions or something like that.  It sounds like the phone is off,  whether due to a dead battery, or just shut off for whatever reason.

  • Block phone number

Is there a way to block a phone number from ringing on my iPhone 4? I changed my old land line, fax line over to my iPhone, and every once in a while I get a call firm a fax machine. I created an entry in my contacts list called JUNK FAX, so I can see it when I get a call, but I wish I could just block that numb entirely... Is there a way to do that?

Not really true. Call blocking can be done on the phone and many good phones do this.
I've been receiving text spam lately through 10 digit numbers. AT&T's solution is to pay them $5 a month for a ridiculously limited service that can block only up to 15 numbers and offers little else for the exorbitant fee. I'm positive that apple has not provided a block program because it conflicts with AT&T's money making "service".
So here's a shout to Apple: I've been an iphone user since iphone 1 came out. If you don't offer a program to do this by the time iphone 5 comes out, I'm switching to Android (which blacklists numbers). The iphone is great, but this is an inexcusable missing feature that is unfortunately becoming too hard to live without. On principle, I will never be ok with paying for somebody to pitch me junk I don't want and, therefore, spam through cell phones is unacceptable.
