Hello I was able to block callers on my Iphone 4S I upgraded to 5 I want to know can text messages and numbers be blocked as well? or do I need to down load apps for this thank you.

why does it require my apple pass word when I get stuff off of my old 4S? the tech tryed to clear all my info on it it would not let him uness user id and pass word is correct.
This is to prevent thief using the stolen iPhone.

If you had a higher end Nokia with S60 operating system then you have plenty of options, but because your 6555 uses the more basic S40 operating system, there is no way to block calls or SMS.
I suggest you change your number (get a new SIM card), call back or text the other people and ask them to stop calling or sending you messages.
Or you could ask your network operator, if they have some sort of a blacklisting service, where the network blocks calls/messages.

How come I can't block numbers anymore?

Hi I currently do not have any numbers blocked on my device but upon going to the my verizon account settings and looking for the blocked feature I noticed the options have been changed with the new site redesign. I no longer have the option to block a number on my phone. I contacted my dad who is the account owner for all our accounts but he assured me there has been no blocks or changes made to my phone or account so therefore I should be able to block a number like I always have been.
I have this one person sending me harassing phone calls and I need to stop it before it gets out of hand. If I click on my verizon I look to the left and click on the menu item that says "block calls and messages" and upon clicking that I click on "manage family and safeguard controls" and then scroll down the page to the option that says "call and message blocking." It shows that the item is free to install so when I click on apply it simply redirects me to the page that has the feature for "manage family and safeguard controls."
Basically I am confused and lost. I used to be able to block up to 5 numbers free of charge at one time and now idk if this the new site doing this but it is not showing me a list where I can insert a number and I have no clue what I am doing wrong.

The option is still there, but for some reason the feature fell off some phones when the site was redesigned. At least that's how it was explained to me when the same thing happened a month or so ago. I talked with a Customer Service rep who put the feature back on the phone line, then I was able to block numbers via MyVerizon again.

But you can set things up so they are less annoying.
Find a silent ringtone on the Internet. Install it on your phone.
Create a contact for the number. Give that contact the silent ringtone, and set vibrate to none.

Verizon allows users to list up to five numbers to be blocked for free for 90 days by entering them in the users My Verizon site. I've found that 90 days has been sufficient to discourage most nuisance calls. But Verizon also provides a service ( for a fee) that will permanently block a number.

How to block Spam text from random number

So, here's the story. I somehow (knowingly or unknowingly) touched & dialled a number from an adult content app and then hung up. Since that day, I keep getting text msgs from different numbers, with lewd text & asking me to call a number (constant across all these sms-es). I block the number using MyVerizon number blocking service; but in 2-3 days I get similar text, asking me to call the same number, from a different number. I keep on blocking this new number (from where the text came) and they keep on sending same text from a different number. This keep on increasing my text bill.
Is there any way to stop this nonsense?
If I reply to one of those texts saying "STOP", as the verizon customer care rep suggested, wouldn't that flag my number as LIVE and they'll start sending me more texts?
How about using sms blocker apps? Again, question there is - do the sms blocker apps just delete spam msgs upon receiving and will I still incur the sms cost in my bill?
Please advice. I'm totally frustrated about this...

As for app I can say that anyway texts are coming to your phone...I have got Call Control installed and I even wrote to their tech support. I got an answer that it is just impossible not to direct texts to your phone. And not one app does this. Yes, you will not see them if the number is blocked, but texts will be there.
In some situations it is even comfortable - if I block someone's number so that he or she doesn't call but still want to read texts)))

Blocking Incoming Texts By Sender?

I'm asking this for a friend who is receiving incoming SPAM texts. The only way I know to block incoming texts is to have your carrier disable texting totally. I couldn't find anything in the iOS 6.1 User Guide about blocking incoming texts.
So, does anyone know if it is possible to do this or if there is an app that can do this?

No, you misread what I posted. The first part of the sentence referred to all cariers employing a process whereby you can report spam messages. For AT&T that would be here, and there is no charge:

Since spammers frequently change the spoofed numbers they send with just blocking a single number will not generally work. If you want to block a number of that psycho ex-girlfriend AT&T has a service that lets you do so for a fee ($4.95 per month). I believe Verizon lets you do up to 10 numbers for free. This works for the psycho ex but not well for spammers.
There is no fee to turn off all texting and I never said there was.

Blocking International Texts / Calls

I am receiving texts from an international source and a number larger than the 10 Verizon allows to be blocked.
I wouldn't mind so much but each of these texts costs me .20
Is there a way to block these texts?
I do not like getting texts that are unwanted and that I do not want to pay for this harassment.

I know it must be frustrating receiving text messages from a number you don't recognize. Although we do offer Call and Message Blocking, where you can block up to five 10-digit numbers from calling and messaging you, this option is not available with international numbers. If you don’t recognize the number who you’re receiving text messages from you do have the option of changing your mobile number by logging in to My Verizon to prevent additional charges.

Blocked Numbers still getting through.

I purchased usage controls for my son's droid. I had to block a number that he was texting/calling at all hours of the night. The number, an ATT number, shows up on my blocked numbers list, but checking his usage, this number is still texting and calling him. What do I have to do to completely prevent this other number from contacting him?

I've blocked numbers through the call and message blocking service but I still get texts from those numbers... Help!!! It only allows me to block ten digit numbers but the messages come from a +1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx number.

Do you have an Iphone? Because sometimes Imessage can still come through, if not, call Customer Service at 1-800-922-0204, they'll be able to force through the block

Family Base - Blocked Numbers

Three weeks ago I set up blocked numbers on my daughters phone. Last week 3 of the blocked numbers sent her text messages. How are the messages getting through when the numbers have been blocked?

OK, thanks....that might explain the text messages, even though they are coming from a telemarketing company.
She is also getting collection calls from companies calling for the deadbeat that had the phone number before her. I've blocked those numbers as well and they keep getting through. Any thoughts?

How can I access copy and paste history in iphone 4, absent some app, if I have copied another block of text before pasting the first?

Is there ANY way to access the copy/paste history in iphone4 without an app? I have the latest verdsion of ios, and I'm using an iPhone 4... The issue arose when I copied a large, VERY large block of text, and then another before I pasted the huge one that took forever to hammer out and was unsaved by any other method, and now I really need it all back!!! Please help! Is there no "clipboard" or similar tool that remembers copied text history for a while, or am I SOL on this one? I can tell you this, as important as the lost words are to me, I don't think I could summon the energy or creativity to repeat it, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and possibly rewarded with cupcakes and affectionate (albeit digital) hugs. I'm currently using Linux Fedora system.
Doesn't matter. There's no standard way for D&D on Linux, no single API.
Every application has its own mechanism which may or may not be compatible with any other.
Gnome and KDE groups are doing some work to provide a common standard but as you know the Linux zealots are completely opposed to anyone telling them what to do (such as creating standards) and won't in general follow them.

Update 4.1.2 deleting large blocks of text following backspace correction

OK, this is a difficult for me to explain, but here goes nothing. I have been having an issue since the update. When typing a message, when I backspace to correct a wrong word/spelling, and then select the correct word from the predictive text bar, most of my message gets erased and replaced with the one word I selected. Even weirder, the word gets inserted in between the few characters of remaining text. The first couple times it happened, I thought I had accidentally selected the block of text with my cursor, but that was not the case. The text is not selected, but acts as though it is and gets overwritten/deleted. This is happening in Messaging and Gmail (and I am assuming all other typing applications).
Is anyone else having this issue? It is making me wan to throw my phone out the window! Please let me know if you know a fix for this.

Mine is doing the same thing! I got the update last night and it is deleting practically my entire message when I backspace. Also, the puncuation options do not pop up anymore like they used to at the top of the keyboard unless you hit space and then backspace.
I'm right there with you...I want to throw this thing out the window. I've seen some cool things this update did, but things I hardly ever would use. The fact it messed with my texting (something I do a lot) has really ****** me off.
