Blocking phone calls

Is there any way to block unwanted phone calls? Telemarketers keep calling, do not call list doesn't work. It would be nice to have a feature where I can add these unwanted numbers to a blocking system on the phone.

The Iphone does not have such a facility. It can only be done at network level I'm afraid

  • How to block Phone calls and SMS on iphone 3G S

    Dear users,
Please let me know if there is a way to block phone calls / SMS from reaching your iphone or is there any application we can download to block them / trash them?
    Thanks,

Blocking calls & SMS can only be done at the carrier level, if your carrier offers such service. You will have to contact your carrier.

  • Can you choose to block phone calls but not texts from a number?

So I have searched all over the place and have not found an answer.  I am sure someone has blocked me from calling them because when I try to call them I recieve this message: "Welcome to Verizon Wireless. The number you were trying to reach has calling restrictions which has prevented the completion of your call."However I am wondering if they can still receieve my texts.  I have sent two and they both show that they have been delivered on my phone and they both also show up on my online bill as having been sent from me and recieved to the number that I am pretty sure has blocked me.  Does Verizon allow someone to block just phone calls but not text messages?  Or if you block a number from calling does that mean texting from that same number is automatically blocked as well (or is it two seperate processes)?  I understand it may look like it has been sent on my end, but I am wondering, since I never got a "message failed" indicator or anything else telling me they never got it, if they were able to receive and read the 2 messages?  We both are Verizon customers by the way.  Thanks!!!

That person did block you, and no they cannot receive or read your texts.

  • Blocking Phone Calls on the iPhone

    Anyone have a method to
    block incoming phone calls
    from arbitrary numbers or
    swaths of numbers to an
    Apple iPhone 3g?
    Example: block all calls from
area code 951... block all from
    951-123-4567, block all
    that come in from 951-123-*,
    etc.
    Lightwave on the Palm Treo
can do this, easily. (I am pretty
new to the Apple iPhone so
    pardon the newbie approach.)

As with a landline, I believe cell phone numbers can be used for telemarketing purposes by a company you have done business with if you provide your cell phone number to the company when purchasing merchandise, etc.
I doubt many cell phone carriers are overly concerned about losing market share - with each other maybe, but not losing market share to landlines. AT&T's residential landline business has been gradually dropping for years with a significant drop indicated with their most recent quarterly report, which is the same for all landline providers. I use my personal cell phone in place of a landline, and I've been doing this for the last 5 years or so, which has been a growing trend.
Telemarketers are probably more respectful of Federal law in this regard with a Federal do not call registry for landlines and cell phone numbers they must respect or face prosecution or fines by the Federal government. Regardless, there is a Federal do not call registry, which everyone with a landline or cell phone number should use if they want to prevent or minimize telemarketing calls, and be careful or aware before giving out their phone number.

  • Blocking Texts but allow phone calls from specific number?

I have done some research but have not found what I'm looking for.
I would like to be able to block a specific number from sending me text messages but I would still like to be able to receive phone calls from them.  It seems to be a unique situation.  I'm not sure if it is something Verizon can handle or if it's available in a third party App?  Thanks for any info you can provide.  I have an HTC Droid Incredible if that matters.

I know that the free number blocking offered by Verizon Wireless will block both calls and texts from the blocked numbers.
There might be something in the Play Store, but I'm not aware of any specific applications.

I have a Galaxy S3 and love this phone but here at my new home which has absolutely no trees of bushes blocking anything, my phone calls are dropped ALL THE TIME and it's driving me crazy.  Verizon finally said that they would come out and boost the signal but haven't seen anyone in two weeks.  I have called Verizon tech help for one year to get help with this, either trade phone or something.  I am so frustrated!  I picked Verizon for the clear calls and coverage inside hospitals and buildings but it's been terrible.  I have had three of these phones replaced.  I need a different model like the S4 or the S5 I think cause it's something in this model.

Verizon is quickly becoming the worst cell phone company out there.  To read all of these pleas from your loyal customers is just so sad and pitiful.  You need to be sued for your data overage charges that you are intentionally imploding on your customers.  They have pleaded, very intelligently, with you to do something to fix the issue and you willingly have NOT.  As is with my reception issue that I was promised a signal booster for two months ago, so is this issue with the data.  You don't follow up and solve the issues.  Therefore the courts will find you fraudulent. When I was promised by your super tech that I needed a signal booster and he was sending it out overnight at no charge to me, I was relieved that it would finally be taken care of so I wouldn't lose faith with Verizon.  Well, that was two months ago now with no record of it ever being ordered or on my file anywhere.  I have since called three more times with hours of conversations about that issue and two more techs have told me they were sending me a signal booster with no follow up what so ever.  WOW!  That's pitiful!  You may not care now, oh but you will later when you lose lots of money and business.

  • Blocking Spam Phone Calls

hi, is it possible to block entirely some phone numbers from even registering on my phone...I am being called by a spam caller even though on the DNC list. Can I block this caller entirely, so the phone will not vibrate/ring when their number calls and so that they will be unable to leave voice messages or activate the screen alert "phone call from so and so" etc. I just do not care to know anything about this caller. Can I block them -- wouldn't such caller block option be a GREAT plus for digital phones?
    thanks

As far as I know, you cannot block incoming numbers. I was having the same problem and researched the AT&T website and it says that you cannot block specific incoming calls.
