Blocking specific websites

How do I block specific websites without blocking my family members from the whole site itself?
i.e.: I want to block www.youtube.com/user/xxxxxx
but I want to keep www.youtube.com

Set up a separate user account for you children and manage it using Parental Controls (System Preferences).

You can block specific websites by going to Blocksi options and entering each website on the Blacklist tab. If you have further questions, please consider joining the new Google Group at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/blocksi-users

• Is it possible to block specific websites and if so, how?

I would like to block a few specific websites. Is this possible?

There are extensions that can block websites.
* LeechBlock: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/leechblock/
* BlockSite: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/blocksite/
Be aware that extension can easily be bypassed by starting Firefox in [[Safe mode]].

Hi rama,
For group policy method, please open GPME and follow the path: User Configuration-> Policies-> Windows
Settings-> Internet Explorer Maintenance-> Security. Then check if Security Zones and Content Ratings can help you to achieve the target. For more details, please refer to following article.

Hi,
I have a specific website that keeps blocking me from going to website I want to view. It is called vnebo.pro or mobi. I also have a pc computer with Kaspersky and it blocks it. How do I remove it or block it from my computer? It only appears at my home, when I use my mac at other places I don't have a problem.
Thanks for any help!

Thank you for the reply. I wanted to wait awhile in order to ensure that this corrected the issue. For a brief while, it did! However, it did not take long before the screen began once again hijacking my home button presses. This occurs even with Firefox removed from default applications ( triple-checked ).
This never happened before version 35.

• ASA5510 is blocking one specific website

Hello everybody,
At the customer site, we have a ASA5510 (ASA version 9.1.2 - ASDM 7.2.1).
The problem is that there is only one particular website blocked, without any logic reason. According to the configuration we close no specific traffic. In fact; all traffic from that interface (higher security level) can go to the (WAN) interface with a lower security level.
ASA interface settings:
inside: 192.168.1.254/24 (local lan)
ts-data: 172.19.4.240/24 (another local LAN interface, used for traffic acrossing private WAN)
ts-inet: 83.167.X.X (this is the public internet connection
example:
From host 192.168.1.51(inside), the website http://www.adhocdata.nl could not be reached and is blocked by the ASA. The strange thing is, it seems to be blocked by the wrong interface/access-list (ts-data). This interface has nothing to do with it...because the traffic is initiated from the inside interface to the TS-inet (WAN)interface. So why is the wrong access list blocking only this specific website. All the other web traffic runs smoothly.
See attachment for log information.
Hopefully someone can help me.
Thanks in advance.

• Is there any way that I can block a website that has started appearing unprompted on my computer?

I have been attacked by some kind of adware. I keep having tabs pop up when I am not even at my computer. Is there a way to block specific sites?

Safe browsing requires vigilance, and this includes making sure you have programs installed on your computer to protect you online, and that they are regularly updated.
Steps to take:

*Updating everything can be time-consuming, and if you're not sure what to do, use a program like Secunia's [https://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/ Personal Software Inspector (PSI)] to help automate the process of updating all software on your computer.
*Make sure Windows Update is turned on and set to automatic.
*Always run antivirus software -- there are many free programs from vendors like Avast, AVG, TrendMicro, etc.
*Make sure your Windows firewall is on (if you are not using a replacement firewall, if so, keep that one up to date).
*Make sure your browsers are the latest versions.
Once you get everything up-to-date, then install a couple of helpful add-ons to your new Firefox installation:

*[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/ Adblock Plus] will help block unwanted advertisements.
*[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/noscript/ NoScript] will only turn on scripting (automated web-page actions) for websites that you trust.
After you've updated everything and have your new add-ons installed, you'll be safer on the web and should not be bombarded by adverts.

• Can't open a specific website with BT infinity

Hello
I got a massive problem with BT infinity (fibre to home service, BT HomeHub 5).
To make a long story short:
Internet normally works quick and fine (I get 70 Mbps download speed and 20 upload on average) BUT a specific website I use for job purposes doesn't work.
This problem first arose when I upgraded from BT Broadband to Infinity last year; prior to that that website worked just fine.
So you may be asking yourselves why I had waited one year to speak up: simple, because in the meantime I had managed to bypass the problem. To be more precise the website I am talking about has a numeric extension which I just deleted and things worked fine (EXAMPLE: www.iamnanogianni.com:123 , I just would type www.iamnanogianni.com and it worked) unfortunately this is not possible anymore and that extension has now to be typed in order to open the website.
This won't just work for me.The page I try to load looks scrambled and after I type my username and password it just freezes.
-I've checked the firewall (and also temporarily disabled it to see if that was the problem),
-I have reset both the HomeHub 5 and the OpenReach modem,
-I have utilised a old HomeHub3 modem (exactly same result),
-I have called BT 100 times and they say that that particular website is not blocked. Sometimes they say it is a coincidence this is not working (!!!), some other times they just remain speachless, sometimes they genuinely try to help but to no avail sadly,
-As soon as I disconnect from my router and connect to, say, BTfon WIFI then the website magically works on my laptos. I am talking about a Mac and a Dell,
-Last but not least an OpenReach engineer came to my place and left empty handed (ie he was not able to determine the problem).
What would you do if you were me?
Many thanks in advance for your help

If you are using a web browser, then without the extension it will default to port 80. As you are using a non-standard port, which is actually reserved for the NTP service, you will need to use the port 123 extension.
I cannot see how it could possible work without the extension, without some form of redirection.
You need to move the webserver to port 80, and not port 123.
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

• Netflix on iPad with restrictions set to only allow "Specific Websites Only"

I have Netflix app installed on my child's iPad. I have restrictions in place on the iPad too - Website restrictions set to "Specific Websites Only".
When I do this the netflix app just spins (never gets to the Netflix login).
If I remove restrictions to allow "All Websites" Netflix works.
I also allowed www.netflix.com as an Allowed Website. Also set Safari "Block Cookies" to never to see if this would help. No luck.
I want Netflix to work, but I also want the restrictions on the iPad to be set to "Specific Websites Only".
Netflix support said (tried them first):
Just spoke with my team who informed me that they have received a few of these complaints. The Netflix app was introduced on the Ipad as a partnership with Apple. We do not have much control over the function of of the permission on the device. They have asked that you reach out to Apple to determine if there is a work around.
Anyone know how to fix this???

hello msreyes,
after countless hours of googling for answers i came up with a solution that works on my situation...it could work for you, its not 100% kids-proof (if your child is tech-savvy then maybe this wont work for you but anyways...)
first step go Settings/ General/ Safari and set your search engine
then Go to Settings/ General/ Restrictions/ Enter your passcode, after you set your restrictions (obviously this step differ from parents to kids age) just for reference here are my screenshots of how i managed the kids phone
ok, so now to the point...next i checked "Limit Adult Content"
and finally you type as many "search engine" and "social media" websites you can possible find. " i know that could be quite allot of URL's but by you having Google as "default serarch enigine and also having www.google.com in th the "NEVER ALLOW" section you kind of take away the "avility" to easly browse Safary,
so say your child types facebook in safari search bar it will show a " website is restricted" message, thus not allowing google or any websites you strict "for that matter" to let your child roam free in the internet world.
and to wrap things up, you can now use Netflix's app in you iPhone. and perhaps your child will never find a walk around glitch..
