Blocking unwanted calls, help please?

We get hundreds of unwanted calls per week, sometimes at 5 am and others at 2am, very annoying. We have our number on the Gov Do Not Call List, have used up our measly 25 blocked calls spots, and set up Nomorobo. Oh, and had to do Comcast's own blocking because even they called me at 6am! Why does the phone STILL have to ring 2 times for it to be "screened" or blocked? It defeats the purpose of all that work by getting woken up in the middle of the night just to listen to it ring twice and then tryng to go back to sleep knowing it wasn't an important emergency "real" call. Not only does this make no sense to me, the actual "2 ring" rule sometimes turns into 3 rings before it's kicked over to nomorobo. Who thought this was a good solution and does anyone else have a better way to stop these annoying calls? Thank you in advance for your help. This can't possibly be how it's supposed to work and everyone else is satisfied with the two ring thing? Help me find a solution, please.

You wouldn't happen to live the the Gurnee area would you?  I've been getting the same thing with the exception of the time of the calls, I'm LesThompson1 and I've just added a post "Not robo calls". I actually threaten to call the police on one of the numbers calling, and they finally called me and informed me that it's Comcast server that's the issue, and you are not getting calls from wierdos in the middle of the night....chances are some of the numbers you're seeing are probably people in the surrounding neighborhood and it's more than likely happening to them too.  I'd ask, and then get your compensation from Comcast, because I sure did.

what you are telling i think is too much. I've read your requests and believe me some of them is out of context. One example is listening to radio while being on a call. Who would like to have such options?? It's ridiculous.
But But it doesn't mean all of them are ridiculous! Just like the #1 concerning music, #4 concerning the camera and #5 concerning the volume, I strongly agree with you as it makes sense!
So if I was to write to nokia, which I will do in the coming days is to write them again:
Points #1,4,5,9,11,14,15,24! These are strong points!
People out there, if you want the changes I specified to be done by nokia, you should write them the same points. If only one or two write, it's useless, they won't take it as a priority.
Of course, don't copy paste or they will think the same person is spamming them. I hope it's clear. Write in your own words. Don't think changes will be done by magic or by doing nothing with arms folded. You should do a move.
THIS IS A USER TO USER FORUM. YOU CAN POST YOUR PROBLEM HERE. WE'LL DISCUSS ABOUT IT, THEN ALL OF US SHOULD WRITE NOKIA TO CORRECT THE MATTER IF IT CONCERNS FIRMWARE. FOLLOW THE LINK "CONTACT US > CALL OR EMAIL NOKIA CARE" TO REPORT THE PROBLEM TO NOKIA.

Yup, dito to ckuan's response - Contact your carrier or assign a silent ringtone/message tone to the contact so you will not be alerted at all to the calls/messages.

  • How can I block unwanted calls? (Besides Do Not Call List)

We just moved into our new home and have Verizon's home phone service (and everything else). In less than the month we've been here we've been BOMBARDED by HUNDREDS of solicitors! Half are non-profits, half biz/telemarketers.They're all unwanted (I don't even do charities over the phone). I've never been so overwhelmed with unwanted calls before! (Must be a California thing? We just moved here from Seattle). Our number is on the National Do Not Call registry, but of course that doesn't stop the non-profits, charities and politicians from calling (they're excluded). Nor does it stop the ones who just don't care. I see that Verizon no longer provides the option of blocking unwanted numbers, and it also discontinued the Do Not Disturb feature. There used to be other options from many of the various phone providers to block all calls except those on a pre-approved list of your choosing. Why aren't these options available to us anymore???
I'm thinking... with all this advanced technology...  there MUST be some way to block all those unwanted calls!!??!!
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Hello rednorsk
There are a couple of options, including one that is on done through your account online, or by calling customer service and requesting the block.  Customer Service can tell you how many of these blocks can be done for free, and whether you will need a specific plan to cover more.
Here is a thread on just your issue.

  • Privacy and blocking unwanted calls

Recently I have been recieving unwanted calls and messages from users who are not on my contacts list. I changed my privacy settings to only allow calls and messages from my contacts, just like it said on the skpye FAQ's but random users are still able to call and message me. How do I stop this?

there is indeed a possible issue related to the privacy settings for those who are also using their Skype account in android phones.  I am not sure if Skype already fixed the possible issue, but I know there are already existing threads regarding this matter.

  • Blocking unwanted calls

I understand I can block calls with *77.   My stupid question - do you hit *77 while the call is in progress, or do you have to list the number somewhere?    Thanks.

*77 is to turn on anonymous call rejection. You only have to turn this on once. You do it when no one is on the phone. You pick up the phone, hear the dial tone, then dial *77. Hang-up afterwards.

  • How to block unwanted calls? Thank you.

Hello I am Italian by about three months I get a call from Romania to 20 times a day. I wanted to know if it was possible to block the number. thanks
    Excuse my English. greetings

It can't be done with the phone, only your provider can help you.
If it shows the number calling, you can try to create and assign a silent ringtone to this number, so you will not hear the calls from this number.
