Blocking website (parental controls

Is ther a way to block certain website that I don't want allowed on my android?

Hi Diana,
Unfortunately, I can't find any Firefox addons that can give you parental controls on Android.
An alternative option could be to set up parental controls on your entire home wifi network - assuming you'll be using your tablet at home?
Your ISP (the company you pay for your internet connection) might offer this service, so you could contact them or check their website to find out.
Another free service for your home network is provided byOpenDNS - but it will require some technical know-how to set up:

Hope that helps!

  • Add Religious Content Block on Parental Controls

It is time to add a Religious Content Block to F-Secure.

Hi Mike, I am looking for the same answer but I think the answer is no. I don't know why they couldn't add this feature for the future. I am set up the same as you...with one account with the whole family accessing. This should be a simple feature to add as the files reside on our hard drive. Hey...maybe that's the answer. Find the file on your harddrive and password restrict it there?
Good luck and please, if anyone else has the right answer, please let us know because I like the way we have it set up now and do not want multiple access accounts.

  • How come when I block one website under parental controls, other websites become blocked?

I am a teacher and have found it necessary to block facebook. I am doing this under Parental Controls. Unfortunately, my students also frequent an Adobe website, I have discovered that by blocking facebook this site and others are not accessible. I then went and removed the block in Parental Controls and the Adobe site was still not accessible. I discovered that ONLY BY clicking on ALLOW UNRESTRICTED ACCESS TO WEBSITES were my students once again able to access the Adobe site.
Here is URL for the Adobe site: https://color.adobe.com/create/color-wheel/

  • Parental Controls are blocking photoshop.

I have parental controls set up for another user on the computer.  I check photoshop as a program that is allowed to be used, but somehow each time they log in, photoshop has been unchecked and they are not allowed to use it.  A dialogue pops up that says it is blocked by parental controls and gives three options: OK (which simply closes the box), Allow Always..., and Allow Once...  "Allow Once" works correctly and opens photoshop for the current session, but "Allow Always" takes in the user name and password, then reopens the origina dialogue box telling me that photoshop is blocked by parental controls.  Any ideas of why this is happening or how to fix it?

There are a variety of Adobe services that need to remain enabled in order for Photoshop to work.
I would log in to the administrator account and make sure anything with Adobe is set to "allow."
Then, log in to the restricted account and test. If Photoshop works as expected, you can turn off one item at a time until you find the one that "breaks" Photoshop's functionality.

  • Parental Controls Broken After Updating an Application

I'm using Parental Controls (remotely) under 10.5.4 to manage what applications can be opened in a small lab. This works well until I need to update an application on the lab computers. I'll use Firefox as an example, but this happens with all applications.
    - I have a version of Firefox on all lab computers (3.0) and Firefox is allowed under parental controls. Everything works.
    - I update Firefox to 3.0.1. (In this case, I simply overwrote the older version of firefox, but I get this problem when updating applications with installers.)
    - If I remotely look at the Parental Controls settings for the lab computer, I can see that Firefox is still allowed (checked)
    - Now, on the lab computer, I log into the managed account and try to open Firefox, I get a warning about the application not being on the allowed list.
    - I log out of the lab computer, and again, access the parental controls setting remotely. Now Firefox is Not Allowed (unchecked).
    - I check the box to allow Firefox
    - Now when I log into the managed account, the new version of Firefox opens.
Some fixex / workarounds I have tried:
    - After updating Firefox, I remotely accessed the parental controls settings and first disallowed (unchecked) Firefox, close parental controls, reopened it, and then allowed (checked) Firefox. When logged into the managed account, opening Firefox produced the not allowed error. When I return to the Parental Controls settings, Firefox is now Not Allowed (unchecked). Checking the box to allow Firefox fix the error.
    - I've tried restarting after updating Firefox and it did not work.
    My guess:
I assume that Leopard keeps a list of applications and versions installed on the computer. Parental Controls allows a specific combination and any update will break the parental controls. To allow this updated application to be opened, its old entry in the list must be updated to reflect the new version. The only way I have figured out how to do this, is to try and open the updated application and fail. Then I can finally allow the updated version.
Does anyone know of an automated or scritable way to do this. I have tried working with lsregister, but have not had any success. I need a way to force Leopard to reload / refresh its list of installed applications, with having a user logged into the console.
For a different solution, does if you can send a UNIX command to machine sitting on it login screen, that will cause the machine to login as a local console user. I could then send "open /path/to/updated app" and a logout to force the application list to be refreshed.
Many Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi! Did you ever receive any feedback on this issue?
I am interested since I have noticed the exact same frustration with Parental Controls since updating to 10.5.
While a very good idea, I think the parental controls, especially with respect to permissions about applications is utterly useless at the moment. It is completely stupid that I have to reset the permissions for applications each and every time I update an application. I have three children who use the computer and I don't want them using every bit of software on the eMac. They are naturally curious and will click on programs that can do damage without realizing is.
I have also turned off any parental controls regarding web browsing but my children still hit many sites that are blocked by Parental Controls. I do have a linux gateway that does the filtering quicker and better.
If anyone at Apple is listening ... please spend some time to fix this for the next update.
    Thank you.

  • BT Parental controls - on when they're off!

I am trying to access a site to install a VPN on my PC. I keep getting an error message saying the site has been blocked by parental controls, but ive turned them off! Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong, please? tks in advance

There seem to be some quite ordinary sites that are blocked even when Parental Controls are off.
I had to sign on to MyBT and remove Parental Controls as there didn't seem to be any other wat to get full access.

  • Parental Controls Imbedded Youtube Vidoes Causes and Error

I am using the "Only Allow these websites" parental controls on my iMac (Mountain Lion 10.8.4).
However there is a website that has imbedded youtube videos (Rainbowloom.com).  There are a imbedded youtube websites for the various lessons and I added them one by one (there are about 20).
The issue is that when attempting to play these videos MOST of the time, the video appears then goes to the end. Whether it is a 15 moin vidoe, 5 min video, (as shown on the imbeded video) the video shows "1 second" AFTER clicking and goes to the end (where it pompts you to play other vidoes).  It also reports that an "error has occurred"
If I use the less restrictive parental contronls the video plays (let the Safari decide).
Anybody have a solution to this.
    Thanks

If you were to create another standard account and apply the same parental controls, would the same thing happen?

  • Internet Recovery Parental Controls

    Hi,
I've noticed that while using Safari in internet recovery mode, some pages are blocked by parental controls, but the parental controls don't seem to follow the controls set up in the admin account.  Anybody have any ideas of where those settings are set?  Is there a way to change them?
    Any help is appreciated!

Open firmware password may be the way to do it.   Mind you, a clever enough person can bypass that, but it takes more effort than it usually is worth.  Put a hidden camera in the room if you are worried something will happen, and backup the data only when you are present.  And if you forget the open firmware password, you may have locked yourself out for good anyway.

  • I would like to know how to block a website on all of Firefox, without using parental controls.

I remember some kind of control or perhaps an add on being advertized for one of the recent beta versions of Firefox 4.0 about blocking particular websites from all viewing on Firefox, not just as a parental control. The add-ons I saw are not for 4.0 Beta 12, the version I'm on now. Can anyone steer me to this feature, if it exists? Thank you!

    Possibly BlockSite - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/blocksite
This one does not work on Firefox 4 but the developer is working on a new version.
You could use the Windows HOSTS file to block sites - http://allthingsmarked.com/2006/08/28/howto-block-websites-using-the-hosts-file

Just thought I'd let you know.  Our suspicions were correct, it was the OS. After I installed Snow Leopard (10.6.8) all the problems were corrected.  I also updated the RAM from 1 gb to 6 gb. The mac is working all around better. Sorry it took so long to get back to everyone. My superdrive had pooped out. Rather than replace it I got an external drive from OWC connected with firewire 800.  So far everything is running very well, as far as I can tell this external drive is better than the original superdrive. My superdrive has always acted funny, infact I returned the first mac I got after a week because its superdrive was also malfunctioning. Anyway, all that to say everything seems to be fully functioning again.

  • Parental controls blocks all https websites

When I enabled parental controls for my 9-year old, I didn't expect her not to be able to use Google, Gmail and just about every single other website that requires logging in. The reason? Those websites are all https websites and parental controls blocks *ALL* https websites.
With https becoming more and more prevalent on the web, adding an exception is not really an option anymore. I don't want to add an exception for half of the internet. It's gotten so bad that she's encountering a popup several times per minute when just doing a little research for her homework. Web filtering is apparently a whilelist only solution, suitable only for the smallest of children - the ones that you sit next to because they can't type a web address themselves, 5 years or younger.
The only solution I could find was to turn off web filtering completely and use OpenDNS instead. Does anyone else know of a better solution?

  • All websites I visit everyday are blocked by a virus that appears to be from Mozilla (but isn't) and wants personal info to unblock the parent control. My viru

I tried to go to websites I visit everyday and they are all blocked by a virus that appears to be from Mozilla (but isn't) and shows mozilla logo and said my website was blocked by Mozilla parent control and you have to sign up for it. It asks for all the personal info that you NEVER give online so I knew it was a virus. I am writing this in safe mode. My Vipre will not pick up this virus and Malware bites won't either. I deleated Mozilla and reinstalled it but it didn't work.
