Blocks of text getting scrambled...

At times when I'm on the net with my MBP
and I two-finger scroll through
message boards, large blocks of text get
moved around and scrambled like a mixed up
Rubik's Cube.
Anyone else experiencing this on their MBP?
Is it a fault of the video card or the intel version of safari?

Yes, it happens to me too. I posted a thread about this and didn't get many responders. It isn't just Safari--I had issues with the included Comic Life application leaving artifacts on the screen as well. It is most likely an issue with the driver for the video card, and is fixable via a software rev whenever Apple gets around to it. There isn't much you can do in the mean time.

    The text on a webpage appears a bit scrambled and compressed for a few seconds every now and then. It's really disturbing when you try to read. It only started happening very recently.

  • Update 4.1.2 deleting large blocks of text following backspace correction

    OK, this is a difficult for me to explain, but here goes nothing.  I have been having an issue since the update.  When typing a message, when I backspace to correct a wrong word/spelling, and then select the correct word from the predictive text bar, most of my message gets erased and replaced with the one word I selected.  Even weirder, the word gets inserted in between the few characters of remaining text.  The first couple times it happened, I thought I had accidentally selected the block of text with my cursor, but that was not the case.  The text is not selected, but acts as though it is and gets overwritten/deleted.  This is happening in Messaging and Gmail (and I am assuming all other typing applications).
    Is anyone else having this issue?  It is making me wan to throw my phone out the window!  Please let me know if you know a fix for this.

    Mine is doing the same thing!  I got the update last night and it is deleting practically my entire message when I backspace.  Also, the puncuation options do not pop up anymore like they used to at the top of the keyboard unless you hit space and then backspace.
    I'm right there with you...I want to throw this thing out the window.  I've seen some cool things this update did, but things I hardly ever would use.  The fact it messed with my texting (something I do a lot) has really ****** me off.

  • Can I cut, copy and paste a block of text in PL/SQL Developer?

    I have been using TextPad to put together SQL statements by using the cut, copy and pasting of BLOCKS of text.
    Example:
    I copy the describe of a table, replace varchar, number, date will 10 spaces and then copy the column names in a block and paste it further down the TextPad.
    Then I join the lines into one string, replace the spaces with commas
    Then I insert in front of the column name the INSERT INTO table_name(
    Then I get the values by copying from somewhere else and paste then in block text where they need to go. ETC, ETC.
    Thank you, Bill

    In 2.0 you should be able to just type
    INSERT INTO emp(
    and do multiple selections from code completion list of suggested emp columns (by holding ctrl or shift key). Same for "select" and "from" clauses (with optional auto aliasing).

  • Block unwanted texts

    Block spam texts

    Check with your cell carrier, and see if they off offer the ability to block specific text message sources.
    You could create new Contact just for junk/spam text. In the contact specify No alert, and No vibrate for any text message for anyone associated with this contact. Now when you get spam text associate it with this contact and any future messages will not bother you unless you actually look.
    You can associate as many different text sources as you like to this single Contact.
    However if you pay for texts received, then you need to contact your cell carrier to get them blocked.
    Note:  you can do something similar for junk phone calls if you install a silent ringtone (Google it)

  • Text becomes scrambled from time to time

    We have a intermittent issue with Adobe Reader X.
    When opening PDF Files (Random ones) some of the text is scrambled and some is okay, on the same document.
    When you open and close that file about 15 times, then it becomes okay.
    We have reinstalled the Reader X but the problem persists.
    What would cause this and is there a quick fix, or will I have to reload the computer?

  • Is it possible to use NUMCHARS to display the number of characters in a block of text instead of the whole document? How?

    Is it possible to use NUMCHARS to display the number of characters in a block of text instead of the whole document? How?

    Getting the character count for a paragraph is trivial:
    Sub NumChars1()
    MsgBox Selection.Paragraphs(1).Range.Characters.Count
    End Sub
    Even outputting it to the document is trivial:
    Sub NumChars2()
    With Selection.Paragraphs(1)
      .Range.InsertAfter .Range.Characters.Count
    End With
    End Sub
    The real issue comes when you want to update the document. If the destination paragraph is only ever empty or contains the character count of the previous paragraph, you could use:
    Sub NumChars3()
    With Selection.Paragraphs(1)
      .Next.Range.Text = .Range.Characters.Count & vbCr
    End With
    End Sub

  • How to block Spam text from random number

    So, here's the story. I somehow (knowingly or unknowingly) touched & dialled a number from an adult content app and then hung up. Since that day, I keep getting text msgs from different numbers, with lewd text & asking me to call a number (constant across all these sms-es). I block the number using MyVerizon number blocking service; but in 2-3 days I get similar text, asking me to call the same number, from a different number. I keep on blocking this new number (from where the text came) and they keep on sending same text from a different number. This keep on increasing my text bill.
    Is there any way to stop this nonsense?
    If I reply to one of those texts saying "STOP", as the verizon customer care rep suggested, wouldn't that flag my number as LIVE and they'll start sending me more texts?
    How about using sms blocker apps? Again, question there is - do the sms blocker apps just delete spam msgs upon receiving and will I still incur the sms cost in my bill?
    Please advice. I'm totally frustrated about this...

    As for app I can say that anyway texts are coming to your phone...I have got Call Control installed and I even wrote to their tech support. I got an answer that it is just impossible not to direct texts to your phone. And not one app does this. Yes, you will not see them if the number is blocked, but texts will be there.
    In some situations it is even comfortable - if I block someone's number so that he or she doesn't call but still want to read texts)))

  • Muse Slows Down on Large Blocks of Text

    Hi...
    I'm a new user to using Adobe Muse 2.3 (trial version) so forgive me if this has been answered before. I'm having big problems when I insert large blocks of text, I have tried both cut and pasting and placing text in Muse but when I do Muse seems to slow down to almost a crawl. When I try to add more text by typing the text seems to "lag" onto the screen instead of appearing straight away, also adding styles I have made to the text takes longer than it should and in some cases I get a muse "not responding" message in the titlebar. The muse file itself is only 720k so not very big in size and I have 8GB of ram so I don't think that's the problem, it's only text after all.
    Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?, it's really annoying because it virtually makes the program un-useable and I cannot continue with my project.
    Thank you  in advance for any answers or information you can give me.

    Thank you for the reply, since text is "content" there really should not be any reason why it can't handle long blocks of text. I pasted in a block of text that contained over 1k+ words. This is a site I'm working on for someone else, it's for quite a technical peice of software and he wants the use and operation information on the website. I explained it would be probably best suited in a pdf or help file but he insists hence the long blocks of text. I updated Adobe AIR and flash and that has made a slight difference but still the performance isn't that great.
    I will try and break up the text into text boxes to see if it will help but this seems to be an inefficient way of doing things. I'm hoping that Muse will have some optimisations for longer text flows in future.
    Thank you.

  • Blocking International Texts / Calls

    I am receiving texts from an international source and a number larger than the 10 Verizon allows to be blocked.
    I wouldn't mind so much but each of these texts costs me .20
    Is there a way to block these texts?
    I do not like getting texts that are unwanted and that I do not want to pay for this harassment.

    Hello FC_Mouse,
    I know it must be frustrating receiving text messages from a number you don't recognize. Although we do offer Call and Message Blocking, where you can block up to five 10-digit numbers from calling and messaging you, this option is not available with international numbers. If you don’t recognize the number who you’re receiving text messages from you do have the option of changing your mobile number by logging in to My Verizon to prevent additional charges.

  • How can I access copy and paste history in iphone 4, absent some app, if I have copied another block of text before pasting the first?

    Is there ANY way to access the copy/paste history in iphone4 without an app? I have the latest verdsion of ios, and I'm using an iPhone 4... The issue arose when I copied a large, VERY large block of text, and then another before I pasted the huge one that took forever to hammer out and was unsaved by any other method, and now I really need it all back!!! Please help! Is there no "clipboard" or similar tool that remembers copied text history for a while, or am I SOL on this one? I can tell you this, as important as the lost words are to me, I don't think I could summon the energy or creativity to repeat it, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and possibly rewarded with cupcakes and affectionate (albeit digital) hugs. Thanks in advance!

    I'm currently using Linux Fedora system.
    Doesn't matter. There's no standard way for D&D on Linux, no single API.
    Every application has its own mechanism which may or may not be compatible with any other.
    Gnome and KDE groups are doing some work to provide a common standard but as you know the Linux zealots are completely opposed to anyone telling them what to do (such as creating standards) and won't in general follow them.

  • Move a block of text from one document to another

    How to make a script moving a block of text from a defined area to next document?

    Here is the beast.
    --[SCRIPT exportTextBlocks]
    Save the script as a Script, an Application or an Application Bundle: exportTextBlocks.xxx
    Move the newly created application into the folder:
    <startup Volume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Scripts:Applications:Pages:
    Maybe you would have to create the folder Pages and even the folder Applications by yourself.
    select something in the source document
    menu Scripts > Pages > exportTextBlocks
    creates a new Pages document with the chunks of texts which where delimited by the markers.
    --=====
    The Finder's Help explains:
    To make the Script menu appear:
    Open the AppleScript utility located in Applications/AppleScript.
    Select the "Show Script Menu in menu bar" checkbox.

  • Text getting cut off when printing to PDF from Excel

    Hello,
         I've seen a lot related to this subject but nothing that shows a real solution.
         Using Excel 2003-sp3 and Adobe Acrobat v.9 Standard, the right half of the last character in the string gets cut off. It prints from excel fine.
         It's not always the text that is the right-most on the page either. An affected PDF file is attached - note the cut off "S" on the last line (NET ASSETS OF GOVERNMENTAL ACTIVITIES).
         Any assistance is appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • How do I delete a block of text on my IPad. For example, when I want to forward an email

    How do I delete a block of text on my IPad. For example, when I want to forward an email & want to delete the previous sender's info.

    OK, Duh...press and hold on the text and a small menu will pop up. Then use Select, Select All, or just drag the blue handles to select the text you want.

  • [JS] Find hyperlinks in a block of text

    Is there any way I can easily, given a block of text, find which hyperlinks have their SourceTexts inside that block of text, or overlapping it?
    The only way I could think of was to loop through all the hyperlinks in the document and then check to see if any character in their SourceText was === to any character in the block of text we're searching.  That seems a little wasteful.

    This works, but it's slow:
    // Returns an array of Hyperlinks whose SourceTexts are
    // contained within (or overlapping with) textObj
    function checkHyperlinks (textObj, doc) {
      var foundLinks = new Array();
      var overlap;
      for (var linkIndex=doc.hyperlinks.length-1; linkIndex >= 0; linkIndex--) {
        overlap = false;
        var link = doc.hyperlinks[linkIndex];
        var linkText = link.source.sourceText;
        for (c=0; c < linkText.length; c++) {
          for (d=0; d < textObj.length; d++) {
            if (linkText.characters[c] == textObj.characters[d]) {
              overlap = true;
              break;
          if (overlap) break;
        if (overlap) {
          foundLinks.push (link);
      return foundLinks;
