Blog design

Just hoping someone can help me out. I have designed a new blog for myself and the overall layout is ok as to the post layout. I am having trouble with the detailed layout. When you click on an individual post to view the entire content the post wants to open up in the overall layout rather than the detailed layout. Hoping someone can help me out. Thanx in advance.

Heya.. Here is some info on custom layouts: http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/partner/using-custom-templates-modules.html
Are trying to do away with the side panel in the overall layout? If so, then I suppose you could just delete the bits you don't need... result, a detail view without all tha additional stuff...

  • How do I go back to my original blog design when after I upgraded firefox my top border changed to go only halfway across the page and a line now runs down the middle of my blog? Not on other computers, just mine.

I would just like my blog to return to its original format with no line down the middle of the page and the top border going across the entire page not just halfway. This happened immediately after I upgraded to Firefox 6. My blog's format is normal on other computers but not normal on my computer. Thank you.

Can you attach a screenshot and maybe post a link?
Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).
Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.
    *<b>View > Zoom > Reset</b> (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)
If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a (too) high value can cause issues.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with overlapping text.

  • Blog into Blog - Design question

I started a new BLOG Web site with iWeb.
I want to post on different subjects. I will have many post in each subject.
I can do one BLOG but after a while if somebody wants to go a specific subject they would have to go through all the post.
I can do a BLOG for each subject but then reader would have to subscribe to each subject RSS.
Is there a simple way to do BLOG to supervise all my BLOG.
If not, is there a way to post in one BLOG but to to sort them into subject after.
    Thank you

If the only thing it is doing is converting a line in a file to a (sequence of) SQL operations, and you don't already have the data objects, and there aren't any complicated inter-object constraints to be checked, I wouldn't bother with creating them, and just use regex string manipulations and prepared statements.

    Hi,
There is a pretty good book called "blog design solutions"
(friendsofed). Lot of information on "howto" and "where do I
    find" about
wordpress, movable type, expression engine and one more if I
    remember
    correctly.

  • Create a blog

How would I create a blog? Do I need to download a program or
    is it all in Dreamweaver?
    Thanks in advance,
    M

ThemeDreamer isn't a blog. It is just a design utility inside
Dreamweaver used to edit the "Theme" files that make up a blogs
design or ‘look and feel’. You use your WordPress blog
like any other WordPress blog. You can’t tell if a WordPress
site was built using ThemeDreamer because its just a utility to
help edit theme files more easily. Here's the break down:
WordPress is a content management system (program) you run on
a webserver, it makes a 'website' with which you can interact with
to create posts or diary entries and web pages through a
special/hidden administration page. All the public viewable pages
inherit a 'theme', a common look and feel consisting of a header,
    footer, menu, sidebar, etc.
Dreamweaver is a design tool to create 'web pages' (not
necessarily websites). A typical web page designer usually designs
a good looking HTML page using Dreamweaver (what its good at) and
then passes it off to a software engineer that hacks it to pieces
to make it interactive. If you want to change the design, its
usually too late or you have to revert back the original HTML and
    start over.
ThemeDreamer is a utility you use inside of Dreamweaver to
visually edit the header, footer, sidebar, etc. directly. These
files dictate a WordPress site’s look and feel without having
to resort back to the original HTML files. Just do a google search
on WordPress theme files and you can find thousands of beautiful
templates that you can download and use for free. ThemeDreamer just
enables you to open up the thousands of free theme files so that
you can more easily customize them in Dreamweaver by seeing them
    visually in Design View.

  • Design Studio 1.3: include image, change textbox background colour, Data labels allingment

    Dear Community,
I've been trying to rebuild one of my Analayis Office Workbooks within Design Studio.
Attempting this, I've come across some questions I hope to find answers to, with your help:
    1. How can I include images, in a local application? I've inserted the "image" component, but I can't asign an Image file to this.
    2. How can I change the background colour of a textbox-component?
    3. I have a chart in my Dashboard. The bars I want to be labled. But defining, that data labels should be placed outside the bars, there is a mixed result. Some bars show the labels outside, some others display the lable somewhere within the bar.
Who can help with those questions? Thanks a lot.
    Kind regards
    Sarah

    1. How can I include images, in a local application? I've inserted the "image" component, but I can't asign an Image file to this.
When working in Local Mode, go to Application -> Open Repository Folder -> and open the folder that your BI Application is named.  Place your image file there.  Go back to your Design Studio Image component and set the src to the name of that image file.  It should show up.  This gets a little more involved when working on the BI Platform or NetWeaver Platform, as you'll want to publish the Image to a public folder on the CMS somewhere (for BI Platform), or the MIME Repository (for NetWeaver Platform).  But the concept is similar in that you have to know where to place the files once you are at that point.  Also as an approach that should work without any need to publish the image to the platform (as it's a little tedious), please read this document:
How to embed images inside of a Design Studio App without uploading to server.
Or, if you do not want to go through the base-64 encoding, consider the addon I blogged about here:
Design Studio 1.2 SDK - An Image Component free of MIME Repository worries
The deployable version can be downloaded from this blog:
Design Studio 1.2/1.3 SDK - Design Studio Utility Pack
    2. How can I change the background colour of a textbox-component?
You will have to write a CSS rule like this:
    .testbox {
        background : #009966;
Then assign 'testbox' as the CSS Class to the text input box.
    3. I have a chart in my Dashboard. The bars I want to be labled. But defining, that data labels should be placed outside the bars, there is a mixed result. Some bars show the labels outside, some others display the lable somewhere within the bar.
Not sure how much control the delivered chart components would give you here.  Maybe one of the third party addons listed in this post could help?

I have set up the web blog in os x server and would like to know if anyone has a any tweaks for it? Example posting pictures other than photo bucket. Any help would be great. Hopefully it can grow past this featureless blog.

There are probably a lot of tutorial on how to create a blog
    from
scratch... I actually thinks Adobe have a tutorial.
You could also try the book "blog design solutions"

is pretty good. It's shown how to roll your own or how to
    customize
already made blogs like wordpress, text pattern, movable type

  • Styling thumbnails

    Hi,
    Hope this finds you well.
I am new to dreamweaver. As a test exercise, I am putting some thumbnails on a page in the footer. I would like to space them out properly so there is enough space between them and so they look good and align them right.
I'm assuming I do this in CSS Styles. If so, how?
I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing back from you soon.

I just created the footer as a div. I've been taught to enter the images first and then style them afterwards.
That's what I call putting the cart a little ahead of the horse...   I grabbed a 2-column CSS layout from this site (watch the screencast to see how it works): http://www.ez-css.org/css_templates
I added an unordered list to the #footer division.
    Inserted some image placeholders.
Styled the #thumbnails list with CSS.
Copy and paste the following code into a new, blank HTML document:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

I want to take the advantage of those beautiful design sofware to create an amazing blog for my wordpress account. But I run into problem of not know how to do it and I do not want to live in the restriction of wordpress has for me on the web design.

There's no know method to conver an iWeb blog, design wise, to a wordpress blog.  Rage software, however, has offered an application that can export the entries and comments of a current iWeb blog for use in an wordpress blog. • Export Chapters as HTML Show Notes

Almost all podcasters needs Shownotes... Actually, there is 3 Steps for a podcast:
    - ShowPreps
    - Record and Post Produce
    - ShowNotes
Since GB has Chapters, it would be nice to Export those Chapters to have it in a form
    00:00:00 - Chapter 1 : Link 1
    00:05:49 - Chapter 2 : Link 2
Podcast Maker does that very well, but even tough I love PCM, since GB3 and my WordPress (+PodPress), I'd love to do that in GB. Another solution would be to "find" where this information is stored and develop a plugin for it, but it looks like this data is encoded...
    iMac 20" Core Duo 2GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   1.5GB Ram 250GB HD 256MB Video

Yes, I've actually been asking my geek friends if they could develop a WordPress plugin to auto-generate shownotes from GB chapter info.
Ideally the plugin could use a template file on the blog site with certain variables marked for replacement with chapter info. You know, %Chapter_Name% - %Chapter_URL% could be replaced with the info and formatted however the blog designer wished.
I'm now subscribed to this topic, so hopefully someone with more technical knowledge than I will come up with something.

  • .Mac 'Personal Domain' and Aperture Galleries?

    hi all.
I have a personal domain www.gregory.hk and I've arranged with my DNS guys to set up a subdomain gallery.gregory.hk with the CNAME pointing to web.mac.com
I'm getting two impressions from searches I've done on Apple:
    1. personal domains only apply to .Web and not to Galleries.
    2. personal domains must be a 'www' subdomain; i.e., the subdomain must be www[.mySub].myDomain.hk
    So, the questions:
has anyone created galleries with Aperture and sent them to their personal domain?
has anyone been able to use a personal domain that doesn't include the www sub? after all, all that really matters is that requests to web.mac.com are via Port 80... right?
    cheers,
    Gregory

    great answer. thank you.
although the .Mac galleries have a slick interface (and Aperture only uploads new/edited photos), I have a few problems with the .Mac galleries:
the url shows your mac.com user name! I like to keep my @mac.com address secret so that's a big problem.
    no comments?
very limited space (and not customisable) for album descriptions.
no captions? (or am I blind and miss it?)
I want to have a slick gallery that can be configured/populated from Aperture, and preferably be styled/coded to match my MT4 blog (I'm working on a new version of my blog at this time...).
mac.com was a consideration because my .Mac subscription includes the storage/bandwidth and it's just sitting there not getting used.
SmugMug Photo is another consideration but I'm a little concerned about the work needed to (a) simplify the interface and (b) match it up with my blog design. (I don't like cluttered album designs. here's one of my own hand-designed albums for reference.)
for the record, I'm handy with xhtml and css.
suggestions, input and opinions would be welcomed.
    sincerely,
    Gregory

  • Add Editable Area to HEAD Tag?

I am working in DW CS 5.5.
My site has a base template and then a nested template for the Work pages.
I'm trying to make the items in the vertical menu bar of the Work page editable attributes. When I select Modify > Template > Make Editable Attribute then set Attribute to class, enter a label name and set type to Text I get this error message:
"There are no editable regions in the HEAD tag to insert the template property tag into. Please add an editable area to the HEAD tag in the base template and try again."
I'm confused because I do have an editable region in the head. What am I doing wrong?

Whoops, I should have included the top code in the base template file:
