Blog in Spry Tabbed Panel

I am a bit of a Dreamweaver novice but have created a website for a friend.
The website uses Spry Tabbed Panels.
My friend has an existing blog on their website, dating back to 07 which is run via Word into Contribute, or maybe straight into Contribute.
On the new page for the blog, I wish there to two spry tabbed panels - 1) The current month's blog entries; 2) Blog archive
What is the best way to do this, or are there any better/simpler solutions?
Many thanks.

That works, but it in my case, I really would like the video
to autoplay when the tab page is selected. Is there something I can
add to the script that would make it work the same way in IE as in
Firefox (Firefox works correctly with autoplay enabled).
Basically, I have a Spry TabPage titled "Installation Video".
When users select this tab they shouldn't then have to also select
the play button to start the video.
Otherwise, is there a modification I can make to the script
that disables autoplay if the browser is IE vs Firefox.

  • Using fade/appear transition in spry tabbed panels

I've implemented the fade/appear transition into a spry
tabbed panel set up. The effect works in that when one clicks on a
tab, the content in that panel will "appear" in using a opacity
    transition.
The problem I am encountering is a pre-load of the content..
almost a flicker at 100% opacity... and then the transition from 0%
to 100% resumes. This flicker effect or visible pre-load of the
content really takes away from the effect of the transition.
Does anyone know how to solve this or correct my set up?
    I'm using the following...
    <li class="TabbedPanelsTab"
    onclick="MM_effectAppearFade('fade-guestrooms', 1000, 0, 100,
    false)" tabindex="0" onfocus="this.blur()">GUEST
    ROOMS</li>

Yes this was a tough one to pull off in Spry. I have worked up a solution that fades between the panels. Please have a look at the following post:

  • Spry Tabbed Panels - Contribute Error Message

I created a Web site using  Dreamweaver CS4 that uses a Spry Tabbed Panels.  It works fine, but so  far it fails when it is pulled into Contribute CS5.  I've read the posts  about allowing Spry Widget editing in Contribute, so I've turned on  that capability.
When I try to launch the Spry Widget Properties from within Contribute, I get this error:
"This  tabbed panel is missing its content.  Contact your administrator to add  the missing content panel, or delete this panel and insert a new one."
I've tried creating new generic pages with new Spry tabbed panels, but they always fail with this message.
    Here is a sample page:
    http://www.dougriderconsulting.com/zmcpa/incentives.html
    Any ideas?  Thanks!

The page http://www.dougriderconsulting.com/zmcpa/incentives.html mentioned here has no issues.
If there are any missing  codes DW also shows the error as <missing content panel>  or <missing tab> when the Tabbed Panel widget is selected.
In Contribute the same pops up as a message.
The issue in page http://www.dougriderconsulting.com/zmcpa/education_in_muskingum_county.html posted in Contribute Blogs is re-solved http://blogs.adobe.com/contribute/2010/06/spry_widget_rendering.html#more-33.

  • Spry tabbed panels and "The tag: "li" doesn't have an attribute: "tabindex" ..."

    Hi,
I've been using the DW CS4 "Spry Tabbed Panels" on a few pages. When I validate the website (with DW tool for that), I get the following messages for each use of the tabbed panels: The tag: "li" doesn't have an attribute: "tabindex" in currently active versions. [XHTML 1.0 Transitional].
Should I worry about this? I'd like to have a code as clean and XHTML valid as possible. Is there a way to fix this so the message doesn't come up anymore?

If validation is important to you, you need to remove tabindex. Should you worry about it? Not really. Sometimes it makes sense to ignore validation to achieve a particular goal, which is why Spry widgets use tabindex in a technically invalid way.
The explanation as to why Spry does that can be found here: http://blogs.adobe.com/spryteam/2007/03/spry_widgets_and_tab_index.html.

  • Firefox - Spry tabbed panel issue

Hi, need a little trouble shooting help here.
This works fine in ie7 but not Firefox 2 or 3. The Spry
Tabbed Panel just looks like an ordinary unordered list but it's
    still clickable.
I've placed the script in the header and the css is imported
    in the main style sheet.
    The live site is here:

Thanks to all who take a moment to look into this.

    Cory,
I copied and pasted your code into a new document locally and
then attached the JavaScript and CSS files for the Tabbed panels
and it styled and worked correctly for me. I then noticed that your
live page you have the Spry CSS files imported into your mainStyler
    using the following syntax:
    @import url ("../includes/SpryTabbedPanels.css");
I tried similar syntax using Dreamweaver to link in the css
file into an attached CSS file and it created code like this:
    @import url("../SpryAssets/SpryTabbedPanels.css");
and it then began to work. It took a while, but it finally
struck me that there is a space between url and ( in your code and
none in the code I had created. So I added a space to my code and
then the styling broke, removed it and the styling came back. So
try removing the space (probably for all 3 @imported files) and see
how that works out for you.

  • Spry Menus on Spry Tabbed Panels?

    Hi,
I'm designing a site that has major tabs at the top, each of which takes the visitor to an appropriate section of the site... each with a default section overview page and a horizontal nav menu that's appropriate for that section. (This design is similar to going to a site like AT&T and clicking on top tabs for Home, Small Business or Enterprise. Once you've done so, the menu below then presents links appropriate to the Home, Small Business or Enterprise products.) I've been trying to implement this by putting instances of Spry Menus in Spry Tabbed Panels within the TabbedPanelsContentGroup div. Specifically, I have the MenuBarHorizontal class is each TabbedPanelsContent div/class.
I have the basic layout working, but the wiring is mystifying me. Clicking the various tabs indeed presents the correct corresponding menus. But I also need to figure out how to make clicking a section tab go to the section overview page (which happens to also correspond the first menu item, "Overview", in each section). There's no real <a href> kind of option that's apparent in conjunction with the TabbedPanelTabs in the TabbedPanelsGroup. Is there a way to force a particular page to display when switching tabs? Or am I trying to use the wrong tool for the job and there's a better technical approach to implementing this design?
I've tried David Powers' blog entry re "Opening Specific Tabs and Panels from Another Page" (http://foundationphp.com/tutorials/spry_url_utils.php), but it describes exactly what the title implies.
    Thanks!
    Jeffrey

    Hi, Jeffrey,
I think I'm going to need to diagram this out!
Let's see...when you say "major tabs at the top" are you referring to a separate MenuBar or are you speaking of Spry Tabbed Panels?
You of course realize that if you are speaking of Spry Tabbed Panels, that EVERYTHING on the panels is on one page. If that is your main organization, yeah, it's a little hairy.
Now, if you have a "normal" one-level set of nav buttons that each takes you to a page that contains a set of Tabbed Panels for that "department," that will get you where you need to be without quite as much mind-blowing follow-the-wire through the wall hijinks, if you know what I mean.
Here is a site that I put together using Spry Tabbed Panels: http://www25.uua.org/uuhs/index.html Although the top "tabs" nav looks like Tabbed Panels tabs, the Tabbed Panels don't start until you get inside the site, and there I use Vertical tabs (on the left side) and on the Panels have put lots of Spry Accordions.
By using this technique, you have an effective "landing page" on each "department" linked to with the top navigation buttons.
Best of luck, and watch out for short-circuits!
    Beth

  • Spry Tabbed Panels position customization

The default position for Spry Tabbled content panels is to render below each tab when each tab is clicked. However I would like the content panels to render above the tabs, so that the tabs are positioned below the content panels. I cannot figure out how to do this. Can anyone help?
    Thanks, Dave

  • Spry Tabbed Panels bug

I am having an issue with the spry tabbed panels on my
    website.
    http://www.roxbury.org. On the
intial page load, all of the sub menus appear for a few seconds and
then only the active one appears like it is supposed to. When
creating a new page from template, the preview also shows all of
the sub menu contents but when I open the page, it looks fine.
It doesn't appear to happen when navigating to other pages,
just on the index page of the site.
Any clues? My boss wants to can all adobe features which I do
not want to do so please help with a fix.

Checking the code, it seems that the first page doesn't set a
defaultTab option, which the others do, so perhaps set the
defaultTab to 0 for the home page. Or you could try moving the
constructor code so that it is immediately after the tab panel HTML
code rather than at the bottom of the page.

  • Looking to add animation to the spry tabbed panels

SO I was wondering if there's any way to add a fade in/out to
the content panel on the spry tabbed panels, whenever you click a
new tab, have that content fade in or do some other kind of effect
that adobe supports through the spry framework.
I've already looked at the adobe labs documentation, and I
can only find effect modifications for the accordion panels.
    Any help would be great!

I have a simple solution posted on my blog:

  • How to use Spry Tabbed Panels?

Hello, I made spry tabbed panels but I'd like them to work on
a rollover or mouseover instead of a click. Here's what I tried but
it didn't actually do anything. Do I have to edit the .js file?

I believe that you do have to edit the .js file to accomplish
what you're looking for. I think that a couple of folks have
already done this and have posted a thread/response in the Spry
forum, so I'd suggest searching that forum for mouseover or related
    terms:

  • More than one spry tabbed panels

    Hi,
On my index page I have a tabbed panel with it own css (size,
    color, etc.)
I would like to insert another tabbed panel on another page
(tabbed panel2). I would like this to have its own css style
    (different size, color scheme, etc.)
When I insert a spry tabbed panel in dreamweaver it
automatically takes on the css of my original tab panel design! How
can I let the second tabbed panel take on its own life, completely
    independent of the first one?
    Thank you.

Create a second set of CSS rules for it. The easiest way is
    to make a
copy of SpryTabbedPanels.css, and call it
    SpryTabbedPanels2.css. Link
SpryTabbedPanels.css to the original page, and
    SpryTabbedPanels2.css
to the page that you want to look different.

  • Spry tabbed panels, all content showing on one page, please help?

    Hi there,
I'm developing a website for my friend and i'm using DW CS5 spry tabbed panels. Everything looks great in DW but when i load the page to the server all of the content shows as one page and i can't navigate through tabs.http://dndperspective.co.cc/
I'll give you the whole code, I am fairly experienced in html but have never used spry before, so it may be a silly mistake. Any Suggestions?

    Correct these links:

  • How can I insert an existing ApDiv into a tab in the Spry Tabbed Panel?

I have 5 of them all containing nested Apdiv within nested ApDivs (a long storie ) that I would like to insert into 5 tabs in the Spry Tabbed Panel.
    Please help.

"Hi Gramp,I realize I have made hard work for myself but I really don't know any better. I also realize now that taking on this project may have been a mistake :-)I taught myself how to use the design side of Dream Weaver. These five ApDivs were created in the content area of the spry tool and it worked fine. (yes a lot of work though)For the first time I looked at the code side. I wanted to try to bring a peace of code from another page for something unrelated and when it didn't work I took it out and without noticing, deleting a line from the Spry tool.Of course like a classic newbe I was working without a backup copy so here I am. Loosing hours of tedious work and on the verve of tears :-)I do have some  questions though.  My APDiv
What does "apDiv1" stands for and what does "My APDiv" stands for?Is the only thing I have to do is changing this line for my five ApDivs and paste it in the appropriate places in the code? Thanks again,Gilaad
