Blog & Podcast pages link to dead URL Page

I've published my new website to a folder, uploaded the data to a non .mac website. Everything works fine, except the blog and the podcast. The blog and podcast main page both appear, but when I click on a story or media selection, I get a URL not found. Checking my site with an FTP client, I can see all the files. However, no matter what I do, the links always go to a dead url page and states Not Found. I find it odd that the whole site works but the blog and podcast archive.
Any work arounds or suggestions?

Oooooh but URL length does make a difference. Thanks for your help.
I did fix one podcast, but what an undertaking. See link:
http://www.cops-clan.org/web/Podcast/D7CDDCDEAD27.html
Now I must rant:
Alpha-numerical URLs automatically generated by iweb for the blog & podcast archives are to long for some non .mac websites. This causes a Not Fond error message. Since I bought iweb for its simplicity, this software cannot fix the inherent problem either. What I have to do, is use Adobe GoLive 6 to shorten the automatically generated URL number strings of all my blog messages and podcasts. However, I'm still not done. I further more have to go into each blog & podacst HTML file and shorten all the links found there too. Quite an undertaking just to post a message. On my other website located on the same server, I run a Serendipity Blog which runs trouble free. Also, the Serendipity Blog is free and has more functionality.... Go figure. Since all I wanted was a simple cookie cutter website and a no fuss blog, the work around is not worth the effort. I think I will have to dump iweb... this is very disappointing.

  • Issue with normal page link redirecting to SSO page / forbidden page

    Hi,
I am having an issue with a number of pages within my portal.
I have a 'List of Objects' that has been working for some time, each link in the list linked to another page.
Just lately a number of pages that are linked to within this list are not loading correctly.
When one of the items is selected, the correct page is initially displayed, but then after a couple of seconds the page is redirected to the 'Single Sign-On' page, or alternatively the page is redirected to a 'Forbidden' page with this error:
    Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /pls/orasso/orasso.wwsso_app_admin.ls_login on this server.
(This page will also show up after the user tries to login when the page is redirected to the SSO page).
As well as this issue occuring at the front end, the same issue is happening when the pages are loaded from the back end, in the Navigator.
This issue is even happening when the page is opened up in 'edit' mode using the ORCLADMIN user.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!!
    Amanda.

  • Please Help!!! Flash page linked do another flash page on server doesn't work

    Hey,
I'm creating a website for a client that has a component
scroll on the main stage linked to a dynamic text box with some
buttons that when clicked will load an external file on Layer 1 of
the main timeline in Flash. When I tested it in Flash it worked,
when I previewed it in Dreamweaver it worked but when I uploaded it
to the server. The main swf loads but the files that are linked to
    the main .swf don't
On the first frame of the main time line I have the code
    below
    loadMovieNum("movies/Thumbnail1_mc.swf",1);
On each of th buttons I have the code below
    on (release) {
    loadMovieNum("Movies/Thumbnail1_mc.swf", 1);
I have read some of the posts here but my main .swf file
plays so its not the "scripts" folder in the wrong place.
and I'm pretty sure that it can't find the files due to my
path to the file, but I'm not sure how to get the main .swf file to
look for the Thumbnail .swf files on the server. Please help.

  • Renamed Home page to "index," now my other pages' links to home won't work

I made a website on Iweb, bought a domain name from Hosting4less, and got an ftp client (cyberduck) to upload it. The Hosting4less support guy told me to rename my "home" page to "index" so that everything would actually show up once I'd uploaded it. This worked, and now, starting from home, I can go to any page. However, from the other pages, when I click back to the home link, I get this:
The requested URL /Home.html was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I guess the renaming mixed up the other pages' links to the home page. How do I fix this? I don't know code, so I can't really go in and fix it that way. It seems like Iweb won't allow it either... help???

    Hi and welcome,
with iWeb you don't need to rename any page to "index" as publishing already creates a page called "index".
I guess you're publishing to a folder, the result of publishing is an index.html file and a folder named with the name you gave to the site in iWeb. You have to upload the folder and the index.html file.
Pages should never be renamed after you publish as that breaks the whole structure of the website (all the links that refer to this page).
Republish from iWeb and reupload (also don't name a page index in iWeb as that may conflict with iWeb already generating such files).

    Cédric

  • Unable to view page link

I put have a page link on a public page. This link is to a page that is not displayed to the public so that if a person clicks on the link he/she will be redirected to login/new account registration.
The problem is if I am not logged in I don't see the link on the public page. I have tried enabling item level security and giving PUBLIC users the right to view this link but it still does not work. Does anyone have any ideas how I can do this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Virginie

This is a feature of page links.
As a workaround, create a URL item that points to the page. Use the direct access URL of the page (e.g. /pls/portal/url/page/<PAGE GROUP ROOT PAGE>/<SUBPAGE>).

  • Home page link in Frame Driver

    People,
i have a piece of code in my frame driver which navigates through pages and has a 'Home Page' link.
select 'Brand : Delivery Fulfilment Analysis' brand,
    'http://rs2020-1-3:7778/servlet/page?_pageid=159&_dad=portal30&_schema=PORTAL30' url
    from dual
    union
select 'Brand : Intake Margin Analysis' brand,
    'http://rs2020-1-3:7778/servlet/page?_pageid=161&_dad=portal30&_schema=PORTAL30' url
    from dual
    union
select chr(13),' ' from dual union select 'Brand : Top Level Report' brand,
    'http://rs2020-1-3:7778/servlet/page?_pageid=143&_dad=portal30&_schema=PORTAL30' url
    from dual
    union
    select 'Exit' brand, 'http://rs2020-1-3:7778/servlet/discoservlet?_act=Exit' url
    from dual
    union
    select 'Home' brand, 'http://rs2020-1-3:7778/servlet/page?_pageid=101,109&_dad=portal30&_schema=PORTAL30' url
    from dual
This code basically gives the users a number of hyper links to click on and navigate through different pages.
When the 'Home Page' link is selected, the frame driver displays the home page in the target window, instead of the entire HTML page.
How can i get the Home Page link to display the page as full screen??
    Thanks, Matt.
    null

    Thanks Michael,
I also found another way of doing this through a dynamic page with JavaScript.
You can specify the Frame driving URL link to point to a dynamic page which has the following code...
    <-HTML>
    <-HEAD>
    <-TITLE>Portal Home</TITLE>
    <-/HEAD>
    <-BODY>
    <-SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    window.parent.location.href = "http://rs2020-1-3:7778/pls/portal30/PORTAL30.home";
    <-/script>
    <-/BODY>
    <-/HTML>
This closes off the frame and ensure the "home" page is displayed in full.
    Thanks for your help.... Matt.

  • How to get Page link target with pl/sql

I am using Oracle Portal Version: 9.0.4.0.99.
I have a portal page that contains several different item types.
I am able to display the majority of the portal items using pl/sql except for the page link item type.
I can use pl/sql to get the display name and other attributes from the WWSBR_ALL_ITEMS table for the page link, but unable to determine the target of the page link.
Is there an api to determine the target and where is the page link target stored.
    Thank you

    Christain
    I am using your suggestion.
I have obtained a list of the portal pages the customer wants links to and have built the urls to the portal pages as a temporary work around.
The customer does not have enough knowlegde to duplicate the work around.
This is why I need to allow the customer to be able to use the page link item type to build links to other portal pages.
Let me try to explain what I am doing.
I have a portal page that the customer has manage content privileges.
The customer can add file items, url items and page link items.
I am using the content on this page to build a dynamic javascript menu.
I run pl/sql querys on several tables to get enough information to build links to these items on the portal page.
The problem is with the item type, page link.
This page link is selected by the customer by going through the add item icon on the portal page.
The target of the selected page link is another portal page.
I can get some information on the page link by querying the WWSBR_ALL_ITEMS view, but can not determine the actual target of the page link.
If I can get the target id or name then I can accomplish what I need.
I hope this explains my situation.
    Thanks

  • Newb in trouble :( - How do I set a home page/ link it to my other pages? CSS style.

I'm scouring these forums looking for someone who can reply to me in real time. Basically, I need to create a basic website for a project, where I have a main page, linking to my other pages that are divided by content. For example, main page would have a brief explanation of what the site is about, and then if you clicked on some text in my explanations, etc, it would link you to a different page on my site. Here are some things I am stuck on:
How do i make one page the first one you'd see if you opened the website?
How do i hyperlink to pages within my local root?
How do I hyperlink to internet based online pages?
How do i burn the whole website onto a cd, so that if I were to give the cd to someone else, all the local links AND the internet links would work?
These questions are all I need to figure out right now. If anyone could help I'd be grateful. I'll be refreshing this for a few hours

How do i make one page the first one you'd see if you opened the website?
Save it with a filename that appears in your host's default filename list.  Ask your host what filenames appear in that list - usually "index.html" is there.  You could try that filename first....
How do i hyperlink to pages within my local root?
Select the text for the link trigger, and use the Link field of the Property inspector to browse to and select the target filename in your local site.
How do I hyperlink to internet based online pages?
Pages that are not present in your local root folder?  You'd have to enter those links manually by selecting the text for the link trigger, and entering "http://www.example.com/path_to_file.html" in the Link field of the Property inspector.  It's important that you enter the *fully qualified* address of the page, i.e., the protocol (http://) the domain name (www.example.com) and the path to the file (/path_to_file.html).
How do i burn the whole website onto a cd, so that if I were to give the cd to someone else, all the local links AND the internet links would work?
Copy all the files within the local root folder to the CD.  If you have made the links properly, they will all work (provided the user is connected to the internet when using the CD, and provided they initially open (manually) the "index.html" file to start.

  • Problems with template and page links..

    Hello community!
I'm pretty new to dreamweaver Cs4 and am having a slight problem. I have my template.dwt file and 5 other pages which use this template layout. However when I preview my website in my browser, the template.dwt file links to all the pages, however when I click on another link (a page link) once on this page, the hyperlinks from the navigation cant be clicked. In other words the navigation turns into just text and no hyperlinks.
I want to be able to click on any page on my website using the navigation bar, so i can go back and forth onto pages all over my website using my navigation.
Anyone know what to do or a solution to allow me to have all the links working from the template
    Thanks

You are being confused by a) not understanding root relative vs document
relative links, and b) not understanding how DW previews files.
If I have a document with a link to an image that looks like this -
    <img src="/images/foo.gif"...
    That's what's called a root relative link.
If I preview that document in DW, then the browser gets the document, sees
the leading "/" and reads that as the root of the hard drive, since the
browser has no idea where the root of the site is.  Thus, the image is
    broken in the preview.
If I have temp files enabled, then DW will secretly convert the file being
previewed into a temporary file, and hand that to the browser.  This temp
file has had all root relative links converted to document relative links
(as you will see by looking at the code in the browser), and has had all
include files actually embedded in the page, and has had all external CSS
and js markup embedded in the page.  In other words, DW has made the
    document into a stand-alone page.
If you do not have temp files enabled, all of these links would be broken on
    preview.
Now - if you are using root relative links, AND you have temp files enabled,
AND you click away from the previewed document, then all of your links will
be broken, since DW has not made that linked file into a temp file.  This is
    what you are seeing.
So - if you want to click away on preview, then you must use document
relative links for the site -
    <img src="../images/foo.gif"... (for example)
These will still work on preview since the browser knows how to determine
the current file's location and how to follow that path.

  • Page Link deadend

I've created a page with a listing of chapters. Each chapter page links to a separate page that is not included in the navbar containing a pdf file. In iWeb, it works perfectly. I click on the chapter title and the pdf page comes up. I click on the chapter listing navigation page and that page returns. After publishing to web.me.com, everything looks the same, but after I click on a chapter, the pdf page comes up and locks me up. I have to push the browser return button to go back, and am unable to do from from within the website.

I don't know how to publish to a local folder. I do not get a pop-up box allowing a change of destination, or find anything in sysprefs.

  • 2:' Top of Page' always goes to Welcome page in IE & links show as blocks

    Hi
I created a web page for our church and added a navigation bar at the bottom of each page.
    This NavBar works fine
Using the same method, I added 'top of page' links on the longer pages and these work fine on my mac, and on other macs, and on my work PC in Firefox.
But when i check with Explorer , every 'top of page' link takes me back to the Welcome Page. I've relinked them at home, even made new text boxes and relinked them, but it never changes.
I've even refreshed the Explorer page, but still I return to Welcome, from all of the different 'top of page' links.
Any ideas how to fix this?
    The website is http://stjamesanglicanchurch.ca
And the main culprits that I've noticed are the Stained Glass and First Church pages.
    Thank you
    Elizabeth

Thank you for telling me this. It makes me feel better knowing that they work after all.
Related to my other problem, I was asked what version of IE I was using on the pc, and it's probably an older one, so that could be the problem, too, or it has some sort of a kink in its system.

  • Is it possible to link to a specific page in an embedded Tumblr blog

Hello. I have an embedded Tumblr blog on a customers Muse site. Is it possible for them to link to a specific page in the Tumblr Iframe, and have it wrapped in there website? I appreceiate all of the help.

Hey, one thing I tried, although it is pretty kludgy...
Duplicated the blog page in Muse
Copied the tumblr URL specific to the posts I wanted to link to
Made the iframe URLs in each of the new pages directed to the tumblr URL specific to that blog post.
Just an idea since I couldn't figure out how to make the iframe direct to tumblr anchor or something similar.

  • New podcast: help! I have one page with podcast links..should I make posts?

    hey guys,
I'm using wordpress to host my podcasts. I put up to podcasts, in one page on my site (not as new 'posts' but two links on a page) and made a feed for that page. I submitted the feed to itunes over a week or two ago, and my older podcast shows up, but not both of them.
None of my podcast info can be found by search (yet).
    Any advice?
Do I need to make a feed for a different page?
Here is the link for the podcast page on our site: http://stumptownvegans.com/the-podcasts/
Here is the feed address I sent to Itunes:

    Any thoughts?

  • Blog Summary/Entry-link on front-page?

    Hi all!
I have a front-page and a blog-page on my newly created iWeb '08 site, and it's working great.
However I'd like to have my blog-entries show up on the front-page, just the title as a link, that takes you to the blog entry.
I'd rather not make the blog summary page my front-page, because I like the layout of the front-page, but I'd also like my visitors to be able to quickly go to my blog-posts from the front-page.
Is this possible, maybe via the new Web Widgets feature? Seems like something a lot of people would want to do, and maybe it's right there in front of me, I just can't seeem to find it
Another thing: Has anyone made a "iWeb 08 Web Widgets Repository" or something like that? A place to collect and share great Web Widgets for iWeb?

Use an RSS feeder like feeddigest or your servers own to create a java script that will "scrape" your site. If you don't care what it looks like there are a number of them out there, if you want customization go with feeddigest. You won't get updates very quickly (24 hour turnaround), but it looks better than most.
