Bloggie MHS-FS3

Hi,
I just bought a Bloggie MHS-FS3 and I just had a terrible experience with the online support, one hour of question and nothing, please forgive e if I'm not in my best mood right now.
My Bloggie is connected wth my computer ad my computer is connected with a 3D TV. The camera comes with a sample of a guy in bike, I was able to transfer it to PC with Sony software and that sample works perfectly with my active glasses and my 3D TV (Samsung). Like all good 3D contend that I saw, that sample has "twin" images until you activate the 3D in the TV to merge the images.
The problem is that the movies that I shoot in 3D are not in that "twin" or double format. I can see them in 3D in the LCD camera, but they are not in 3D when transferred via Sony software.
I really need some help here, I think that this matter is not that difficult to understand, but it tooks one hour for a Sony professional to say me nothing.
I already did firmware ugrade (to 1.09 first thing I did) ad I don't have any problems with other 3D contents in my TV stremed from my computer.
Thanks, I'd appreciate your help.

Hello 3D fan
Welcome to the User Discussion forums.
If your subject is moving, or is too close or too far away, then the desired 3D effect may not be produced. Any of these scenarios can cause focusing issues that interfere with the 3D effect and prevent the video from appearing to be in 3D. Also The 3D effect is not as dramatic for subjects near the edge of the frame. Therefore, it is recommended your subject be positioned in the center of the frame when recording 3D video.
Try shooting 3D video at varying distances to determine what works best for you in your shooting situation.
Also here are some Tips for capturing 3D movies.
1. Hold the camera in a horizontal position.
2. Position the subject and background within the frame of the LCD screen.
3. Pan the camera left or right slowly, while confirming the 3D effect displayed on the LCD screen.
Notes:
The Zoom and SteadyShot functions are not available while recording 3D images.
3D shooting is only available for 1920×1080 size images.
3D shooting is not possible with the 360 Video Lens (MHS-FS3K only)

    Hello,
Welcome to the User Discussion Forums
    For the main tips when Shooting 3D;
Hold the camera in a horizontal position.
Position the subject and background within the frame of the LCD screen.
NOTE: For best results, it is recommended to position a scene that has both close and far away objects.
Pan the camera left or right slowly, while confirming the 3D effect displayed on the LCD screen.
NOTE: The Zoom and SteadyShot functions are not available while recording 3D images.
and finally, have fun! and don't get too close to your subject (about 4 feet is optimal).

    Hello,
Welcome to the User Discussion Forums.
If you would like to use Bloggie Software with photos and videos previously taken and stored on your computer, click on the "Import" button located in the lower left hand corner and navigate within the Windows dialog to where your photos and videos are located.
Bloggie Software currently only supports JPG image and MP4 video formats for import.

  • Problem with SD card and Sony Bloggie MHS-CM5

I have just bought a Sony Bloggie model MHS-CM5 and a SanDisk SDHC (number 4) 4gb card. For some reason when I turn it on, it was saying "error formatting sd card" or something very similar. I did some research and saw a problem somewhat similar, tried connecting to my computer, taking the battery out and back in, formatting card from camera options, and now it is saying there is no space on the memory card when it is brand new. I am fairly good with these things and I am stumped. Any help is greatly appreciated!

A SDHC type 4 4GB card should work fine with your bloggie, so try the card in another device and try another card in your bloggie to establish which is having the issue. If you find that the bloggie is having issues with several different cards it may need service. Give Sony support a call and they will be happy to help:

  • Sony Bloggie MHS-TS20

Recently purchased this Bloggie from Costco. I have taken both video and still with this camera and have installed the software on my computer. I connected the Bloggie to my computer via the USB flip and expected it to upload my video and stills. After leaving it connected for 2 days, the Bloggie still hasn't uploaded most of my video or stills. I don't have much video or stills so I can't imagine it would take so long to upload. I don't get any error messages, just a box saying "importing". Any ideas?
    Thanks,

  • SONY Bloggie MHS-TS20 install issue

I bought a SONY Bloggie Touch MHS-TS20 and am trying to launch the software. I get so far as installing it and says 'starting', but then i get directed to a google chrome page that says:
" oops! google chrome could not connect to localhost:2468" then nothing. I've tried un-installing it and re-installing but I get the same error message everytime. I'm using an HP with Vista.

    Hello All,
Out of curiosity - Have you tried to disable the Firewall software prior to installing the software? I know when I did the install (I don't use google chrome) but Windows Firewall did require that I "Allow" the bloggie software access to the internet.
Try disabling your Firewall software be it Symantec, Norton, McAfee or Windows - Then install the software and see if you have the problem.

  • Sony Bloggie MHS-CM5 need to completely disable SteadyShot

Has anyone discovered a hack to completely disable SteadyShot, the motor? Even when shooting 720p at 60fps where the SteadyShot is suppose to be inactive I find it still on. Unfathomably, using the camera on a tripod actually gives me a shakey picture (not to metion a loud adiable grind sound everytime the SteadyShot kicks in), which makes the camera footage worthless. At this point I am finding it hard to believe this camera ever made it to retail as the SteadyShot completely ruins the picture and adds the kinda noise to the audio one woudl associate with old film cameras. It's really, really bad. If anyone knows how I can kill the SteadyShot completely I'd appreciate it.

    Hi Eliah,
    Welcome to Sony Community!
There is an option to turn OFF Steadyshot option under “Shooting menu” of the Camera.  The camera shake reduction function works only in [640 × 480 30P] or [1280 × 720 30P] mode.
Information about this option is mentioned on page # 40 of the Handbook:

  • MHS-FS3 3D Photo Support?!

I can upload/share my 3D videos to youtube for viewing on the internet in several 3D modes using various colored glasses or even side-by-side cross-eyed viewing. I cannot find any similar service which will allow me to upload and view my 3D photos in a similar fashion. I would ultimately like to be able to view my 3D photos on my iPhone using side-by-side mode and the recently released My3D viewer attachment from Hasbro. OR what would really be cool would to be able to print out my own side-by-side stereoptican(sp?) cards and view the 3D photos on the old-fashioned stereoptican my dad has. Anybody have any tips/suggestions for viewing 3D photos outside of the camera?

Nevermind :-)! Just found exactly what I was looking for. A wonderful freeware software package called "Stereo Photo Maker". Its sister product is "Stereo Movie Maker". Stereo Photo Maker allows me to view the 3D Photos on my computer in numerous different modes. I was able to save a photo in side-by-side mode and can now view it on my iPhone using the Hasbro My3D Viewer accessory. I can also print out the saved side-by-side photo for viewing with a classic stereoptican device. If anyone else is interested in this software, just google its name and google will take you right to it. Enjoy!

  • Please check my workflow: mp4 to FCP via streamclip

    Hi all -
I'm hoping to edit video shot on a Sony Bloggie (MHS-TS20) in FCP 5.0.4.
The Bloggie footage is .mp4 with h264 compression, 1920x1080, 29.97 fps, square pixels, upper field dominance, at 1.2 MB/sec.
After several hours of forum research and trial/error, I'm pretty sure I'm on the right track. I'm converting using MPEG Streamclip (MPSC) via the Export to Quicktime command. I am using FCP 5.0.4, however, so I do not have the option to export with a ProRes codec, which seems to be the preference for those using FCP 6 or 7.
I believe my best option, therefore, is APPLE DV/DVCPRO-NTSC, selecting 1920x1080 (unscaled), 29.97 fps, with interlacing deselected. I have exported with both upper and lower dominant. (MPSC says to use upper for all codecs except DV, but even when I select lower, FCP tells me that the dominance of the file is upper.) The exported files are 3.6MB/sec.
The exported files import to FCP and are editable, but require rendering even when I set the sequence settings to the exact specifications of the file. So my first question is: Is there any (good) way to convert the files so that they are editable in FCP 5 without having to render them first? (I can achieve this by converting with an HDV codec, but my understanding is that the GOP compression makes this undesirable.)
A second, related question is: What is my best choice of output format for the edited sequence if I intend to post the movie to Vimeo and otherwise distribute online?
    thanks
    Rich

If 11 seconds of video takes 7 minutes you are doing something wrong.
My 3 year old iMac (see specs below) takes about 3 times real time, which would be about half a minute for an 11 second clip.
When you restrict the data rate you are making smaller file sizes. Half the rate equals a file half the size.
This can be important when you are posting on the web as many people have slow broadband speeds which cannot cope properly with high data rates/large file sizes.
Still images only require a tiny data rate as nothing changes from one frame to another.
The faster the movement, the more changes there are from frame to frame and this requires a fast data rate or the video will be jerky, blocky (showing loads of moving pixels) and generally unwatchable.
To see the effect, get a clip with movement and encode it at 1,000kbps to see how bad it is.
The size of the original video frame is also vital.
A 1920x1080 frame has around 4 times as many pixels as a 720x576 so it needs a data rate 4 times faster.
Conversely, if 10,000kbps is good for hi-def , a standard def video would only require 2,500kbps.
1280 has about half the pixels of 1080 so you can use a slower data rate and end up with half-size files, which as mentioned above, can be important when uploading or viewing on the internet.
AAC audio is more compressed than the standard PCM so once again it helps to keep file sizes/data rates down.
