Blogging software and Dreamweaver

I am searching for a blogging software to add to our site.
Any suggestions (product) from anyone that has worked with blogging
software? Thanks

WordPress is the most common that I have seen. But it depends
on your server. If you can use PHP/mySQL than that will work. If
you need an ASP one that could be found also.
So which language do you need it in?

  • How to share user login and passwords between blog, forum and Dreamweaver?

I have a site created with Dreamweaver. I want to allow
visitors to create a username and password which will allow them to
post blog feedback to many pages on my site, post in a forum, and
provide their own comments into a database I can show the results
for on certain pages. The trick is I want this to all work with one
username and password so they don't have to use 3 different logins.
I'm not sure if this is too technical, but I thought I'd ask before
getting into it and realizing it won't work or I don't have a clue
    what I'm doing.
I want to allow blog data to be added to a page with CSS
content by both admin and visitors (to create an active discussion
based on the data on that page). I've seen it on some sites, but
don't know how to do it myself:
    http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/19/ea-extends-take-two-purchase-offer-deadline-a-third-time /
I can see they are using Weblogs Inc. software, but it
appears the company only collaborates with people they see a fit
    with.
I also want a forum and I know phpp is recommended. I like
the interface, but am unsure if the login data can be shared with a
    blog.
Lastly, I wanted to allow users to write their own reviews
and then show the results and average them for display on the site.
I have read and know how to create the database for the site. I
just don't know how to share the usernames and password information
    with the blog and forum.
Also, how do I force Dreamweaver to validate that the
usernames and passwords are exactly correct before letting people
    post under that identity?
I'm loving Dreamweaver and making sites so far. Just trying
to take it to the next level.
    Thanks very much!

What you want is a CMS, but your not going to get one for
    Dreamweaver,
well, not the kind you want. Something like Joomla can do
    this, you can
add phpBB3 to it, and then using the JFusion extension allow
    them to
share the user database, but I warn you now, its a steep
    learning curve.
I ended up buying a book just to get to grips with the key
    concepts.

  • Can I create a blog page in Dreamweaver?

Can I create a blog page in Dreamweaver?

    Yes and no.
You could create the design you ultimately use for third party blogging software, like a Wordpress theme, in DW, but there's nothing built into DW that can create a blog in and of itself for you, no.

  • Need blogging software recomm.

    Greetings,
I'm on a CF8 shared server, and would like to find some easy
to install blog software that uses MS Access on the backend.
    Can anyone make a recommendation.
    Thanks,

I am retired.  In my active years, I purchased Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard and Dreamweaver CS5 for my Windows environment.  I recently spent a fortune to migrate to  Apple.  I now (and a bite late) realize that my licenses are not recognized by Adobe. I am desperate. I cannot afford the expense of buying or paying access to the software and, still,  I need the tools for all those little things I do for enjoyment. What can be done?

The licenses are operating system specific, so one option would be to retain use of the Windows machine you had before the Mac.
If you want to try to use the older stuff on your new Mac you can try installing Windows emulation software such as Bootcamp.

  • What do i do after downloading iOS 3.1 software and "There was a problem downloading iOS 3.1.1 software update for ipod touch. an unknown error occurred (8288). Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again." comes up?

what do i do after downloading iOS 3.1 software and "There was a problem downloading iOS 3.1.1 software update for ipod touch. an unknown error occurred (8288). Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again." comes up?

Hello, I hope by now you have resolved the upgrade issue, but if not, here is what I ended up having to do:
“SUCCESS!!! I took my iPod to a friend who is a computer programmer/genius. He turned off his wireless, hooked the ethernet cable directly into his computer, and the download went through without a hitch. YAY!”
Here is my original post explaining what I had already tried:
    “Hi all,
I got an iPod Touch 1st gen for my youngest son for Christmas as a starter. It has the 2.1.2 ios on it, but after I paid for the upgrade to 3.1.1, I keep getting an error message (8288) saying there was a problem with the network connection. I have called customer service, and they suggested I try on a different computer, and if that didn't work, try connecting to a different network, and then trying the update. None of this has worked. It seems that tech support is clueless with this issue.
I have installed and unistalled iTunes 10.5, 10.3, 10.4, and now I am back with 10.5. I have tried looking up the issue from several search engines but no one seems to have a universal solution and I have tried several.
I really want to have this thing updated for himw hwne he opens it, but I am starting to worry that my purchase was a bust. I know this is the oldest version, but I don't want to buy a newer, more expensive iPod and him still not be mature enough to really take care of it. As I said, this one is a starter.
    Can anyone help? Please?!
    Thank you!!!
P.S. We have a PC, with Windows XP Home.”
Now, there seem to be a lot of different ways to solve the 8288 error, none of which are universal. Best of luck getting yours upgraded!
    Tiffany
P.S. The post by Sparkhi is a link to his blog going into a long story about how he wanted Apple to pay him for “solving” the issue….the one that apparently has been solved by multiple solutions. I’m not trying to bash, it just bothers me that he put up this whole story and finally, at the very end of his blog post, posts his solution.

  • Trouble with editing BC Blog Modules in Dreamweaver

I was wondering how to customize blog modules in dreamweaver. In dreamweaver when I add the "list of post module" into a template, then click on data, I do not see the tags to insert archive blog posts, or older and newer posts tags. How can I add and edit those tags. In the end I am looking to get a blog that looks like this. Also, is there not a way to edit the blog post detail in Dreamweaver? In BC I see that it is possible to add an image in the older and newer blog post tags. How do I do that? Thanks for all the help!

Is WordPress a better option for creating a custom blog?
It depends on what exactly do you mean by "Custom".  If you mean to say that you want to redesign the layout like Adobe has done than yes WP is definitely the best.  Adobe's blog is here: <http://blogs.adobe.com/>  Yahoo India is here: <http://in.news.yahoo.com/blogs/>  Main Yahoo is here: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/.  Other major organization is NYTimes. Other Yahoo blog: <http://ycorpblog.com/>
I think WP has won the battle for CMS market and all they now need to do is to monetize their market position.  Can you imagine if users start paying $20 a year what they can make?  They have about 80 million users and so you can do the math!!

  • Which blog software on Mac OS X server?

Which blog software would you recommend to use on Mac OS X server to add content using an iOS device?

I've been using Drupal for an eon or two, using Safari on OS X and iOS.  Haven't used a dedicated iOS client.
Pick a couple of the available content management system (CMS) options, and test them, and see what works for you.  Drupal and Wordpress both have hosted blogs available, and — given you're going to have to do this if you're hosting the CMS yourself — download and try them, and see how they work.
Here is one of two articles I posted on this a while back.  That article includes links to various resources including a matrix of CMS packages, and links over to the other write-up.

  • I know this sounds ridiculous, but do you have to have Fireworks and Dreamweaver to create a website?

Many years ago, I had a copy of fireworks and dreamweaver.  It seemed like I only worked with fireworks and created websites, links etc.  Do you have to have both and somehow they work in tandem?

My suggestion would be to forget about Fireworks, because the application's development was stopped in May 2013, and no updates are coming its way either. It is dead software, unfortunately. It is already experiencing compatibility problems on the latest Mac OS, for example, and it is only going to get worse.
To create a simple website, you have two choices: you either learn basic html and css code (as Mylenium suggested), or you use a visual editor.
I have a feeling you veer towards the visual editor solution, so here are some options:
    - http://www.kompozer.net/
    - Web Design Software by Xara: Xara Web Designer
    - Adobe Muse
... or install WordPress through your host (most web hosts offer a one-click install option), choose a nice template from the tens of thousands available online, and start adding content.

  • Getting started with CF10 and Dreamweaver

I'm trying to get some HS students started on CF10 and Dreamweaver (used together).  Back in the day, Macromedia had an awesome little tutorial that showed how to get everything all set up and program a simple web app.  Can anyone point me to a similar tutorial for CF10 and Dreamweaver.  I've tried to get started but seem to get errors on every step (for example it won't let me use an Access database).  My preference is to use Dreamweaver to write a lot of the code (initially).
Thanks for any help people can provide,

  • How well does a Macbook pro and a Macbook air run Xcode, Photoshop and Dreamweaver?

How well does a Macbook pro and a Macbook air run Xcode, Photoshop and Dreamweaver?

MacBook Pro - no problem, it is an extremely popular computer for running that software. Just look at the Adobe demo videos of their products, most of the time you can see a MacBook Pro running the software in their video.
MacBook Air - should be just as good most of the time.
However, if you get involved in heavy Photoshop work like highly stacked layers/masks/channels, 16 bits per channel or up, or merging HDR or panoramas, the MacBook Pro may be better because it can take 16GB RAM while the MacBook Air can take only 8GB RAM.
Also, if you are going to do serious programming in XCode or Dreamweaver, you may find the MacBook Air screen to be too small for all of the code windows and tool palettes that you may want to open and arrange in those programs. The 15" Retina screen of the MacBook Pro will let you spread out your work and do less window switching. The 11/"13" MacBook Air screens are both smaller and non-Retina so not as sharp.
Even Photoshop is nicer on the 15" MacBook Pro because of the extra screen space for the image with less intrusion by the tool palettes.
In short, if you are a casual user the MacBook Air will be great. If you are a professional with a heavy workload the MacBook Pro may be more efficient overall due to the larger screen and higher RAM capacity.

  • Adobe Premier and Dreamweaver Hanging Up

I'm running an 8 core i7 process with a RAID Zero and to other solid state drives with 24 gigs ram and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 on windows 7 64bit and for some reason I'm experience more and more hang ups, locking up when using Premier and Dreamweaver. There are some serious performance issues with Adobe CC. I'm running very powerful machines and I do not expect these constant crashes and hang ups. Working with fluid grid layouts in Dreamweaver is a nightmare. I take about a minute to three minutes for a web page to wake up after opening it in Dreamweaver to work on it. This totally destroys the possibility of a smooth workflow. Same thing in Premier, I'll be editing a project and suddenly the software goes white and then premier says it's low on resource or something and sometimes it will not totally crash and other times it will totally crash. It's hard to take time out to explain this to you people, as your customer for almost two decades I'M SICK OF BEING YOUR BETA TESTER AND HAVING TO PAY FOR YOUR PRODUCTS
