Blotch on screen, cause?

Please see the link below for a picture.
Can anyone able to help me identify what the problem is or what's caused the blotch? My phone hasn't been submerged in water or anything so I can rule out water damage. The blotch appears to be underneath the screen.

  • Screen causes umount.nfs error

I like to keep screen session instead of few opened terminal emulators, but opened nfs drive in screen causes umount.nfs "device is busy" error on shutdown. Is it possible to prevent this?
    Thanks in advance

The problem is that I can unmount it even if there's application working on it. I use shutdown -h now Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear that I only want to unmount nfs on shutdown. No matter what uses nfs drive it's unmounted smoothly on shutdown unless it's used by screen.

  • Display Problem on MacBook Pro 13-In:  red blotch when screen is dark/black

I've been having a really weird problem:  a red blotch near the center of my screen, visible if the screen is black, or dark background in video playback.  It's about an inch off center (right) and it look like a "T" made by a paint brush stroke.  When it first appeared (in the same spot to the left of center), Apple replaced the display (in the last year of Apple Care), and it disappeared.  It reappeared 4 weeks later as clear lines (in the same spot).  They replaced the display again, and it disappeared once again.  It happened a third time 4 months after that, and they replaced the logic board as well as the display; again, "fixed."  Here's the weirdest part:  because, after all this, the computer would not charge, they threw up their hands and gave me a brand new MacBook Pro. That was a month ago, and last night, there was the red blotch again (except now, again, just to the right of center).
I can't find anything like this (online) happening to anyone else, and so far Apple hasn't determined what they think the problem is.  I sort of feel now the problem must lie with me.  But what could I be doing?  I haven't dropped it; I'm just using it for email and reading online.
Anyone have any idea what this might be?  Thank you very much in advance for any suggestions.

I can only do wild guesses at this popint, only thing I can think of on your end is possible AC power problems, but I've not been impressed with Apple's quality since the 68K or Beige days.
THe iMac7,1 I'm on now needed repair 3 times & still scares me with it's PSU temps.

  • Password Screen, causes random wake up issues and after a call Phone Freezes and needs to be restarted.

I have noticed that the Password Screen is not very robust. I have had numerous times where the phone doesn't bring up the keyboard or the screen comes up black when being "woken up".
I have now noticed that when I am on a long call - speakerphone or using a wired earpiece, that the phone will no longer "wake up". I cannot get to the password screen and the phone is basically unuseable and I need to reboot the phone.
One time this happened where my counterparty had to switch phones and called back immediately. I could not answer his call. I had to do a battery pull. The second time this happened I could at least use the power button to restart the phone.
The password screen seems to cause me quite a few issues.
I would like to know if others are experiencing the same thing.
    Best regards,
    ctfish

i believe the same thing happened to be.  i was thinking that maybe it had to do with the password screen as well but it's weird how it's worked fine for over a month and then BAM.
this morning i wasn't even on a phone call and i looked to wake up my device by swiping up and there is no response.  i can't wake it up from the top button either.  i can see the red notification light blinking and i can hear when i get emails but i can't do anything.  now i'm going to have to just reboot it.  holding the top button shows the power off/restart screen.  that's about all i can get to.  i think i'll try a battery pull this time.

  • A click anywhere on the screen causes a spinning ball. iMac 27inch

We get a spinning ball when we click on anything on the screen. We rebooted. We disconnected periferals. We disabled TimeMachine. Still spinning ball. Very slow bootup of any app.

The SBBOD can be caused by many things so it's a little difficult to troubleshoot. I would recommend starting by restarting the computer in Safe Mode. This will clear some caches, it's possible one or more have become corrupted. If that doesn't do it there is an excellent article that lists trouble shooting steps, the cause for your problem is probably located in it. The article is Spinning Beach Ball of Death .
Common causes are a too full HD, failing HD, not enough RAM, a process that is taking too much %CPU etc. If you still can't find the cause after using these tools you will need to bring the machine into an Apple Store or AASP to be diagnosed.

  • Does using the iPad with hard touches to the screen cause any damage to the touch detector?

I have noticed some people using the touch interface of the iPad by touching the screen hard (the touch makes a sound). Does it cause any damage?

But 'hitting' the screen hard with the finger, does it hurt the touch screen?

  • 1610HD Blank screen causes Color wheel fault

When I use the blank screen function on the projector, the screen blanks with the message
"Press Blank again..." for about 30 seconds or so. I then see the lamp turn off and the two amber lights flashing on top indicating a problem with the color wheel. Power cycling the projector restores operation until the screen is blanked again. Does anyone else have a problem with the screen blanking feature causing a color wheel fault?

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Glossy screens causes eye strain

Does any one knows if there are any studies published on reflective screens effect our vision when working long hours.
I'm using iMac 27" for about 1 year and I'm noticing my vision is going bad. I keep finding my self even today that I can't concentrate and I can't look at  reflections that are allways there and chaning. Ambient light and in the evening light sources from the room constantly reflecting on my screen.
Can you share your expierence, working on a large glossy display and if you notice any side effects ?
    Thank you

The iMac has a protective glass panel the covers the actual glass TFT screen.
It's the double panes of glass that cause some of the excessive glare on an iMac.
You maybe able to reduce the amount of glare by removing the glass and using one of these.
    http://www.macframes.com/
The actual glass TFT screen of the iMac is still glossy, mbut with the extra panel of glass gone, it should reduce the glare to a much more tolerable level.
I use this, myself, and can work at my iMac longer and the headaches have, more or less, gone away, and I have noticed less eye strain.

  • Pressing my screen causes a light blue oval temporary... screen breaking?

I've had my iPod Touch 32gb 4th generation for about a year and a half... when I put pressure on the very top of the screen, it causes an odd light blue oval over the screen where I pressed, then it fades away in about half a second. It's relateable to when you press the screen of a calculator. Is my LCD screen breaking? Will I need a new iPod soon? Will it eventually spread to the rest of the iPod and get worse? Thanks.
PS. I'm an iTouch gamer not music listener, so getting strange markings on the screen when pressing is quite annoying...

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and hear what they have to say.

  • Blue Screen caused by Killer Network Manager on MSI GS70 Stealth 970m 6GB

The GS70 always gets the blue screen when booting up then it restarts. After the restart it does not blue screen anymore. I've almost found my answer from these people https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=178064.0 yet I cannot install another Wifi adapter since there is none available for my laptop unless it's the stock Killer wireless- n/a/ac 1525 Wireless network adapter. I can confirm that the Blue screens are caused by the Killer Wireless because when I uninstalled it. There were no more blue screens. I just want help since I am tired of my laptop blue screening everytime I boot it up. Please help me and thank you so much.

    Hi,
I guess your OS is not MSI OEM Windows?
What's your current LAN driver version?
MSI mainboard download page has a newer Killer driver, give it a try.

  • Blotch On Screen

Tried to use my 30GB iPod with video this morning and found there's a black splotch (kinda looks like an ink spot) in the upper right corner of the screen. The top third or so of the screen is faded and blank in spots. The bottom half is viewable, but faint. I'm guessing somehow the screen was damaged (how, I don't know). I just wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar problem. It's no longer under warranty. And I'm guessing it's probably going to cost more to have it fixed than it would to purchase a new one.

  • I have a MacBookPro1,1 running mac os x 10.6.8. It keeps freezing whenever i use it, and often takes 5 or more attempts to turn on. It just stays at the grey apple screen, causing me to force shut down. Is there anyway i can fix this?

When i am using the mac. often it will suddenly freeze, only the coloured loading wheel still moving. I will leave it for hours to unfreeze but nothing. The only remedy is to turn it off by the button. Moreover, sometimes when i turn it on it gets stuck at the grey apple screen and i have to turn it off by the button and on again. This can happen up to 10 times until it turns on! What can i do?

Shut down your computer and disconnect all peripherals (keyboard & mouse if pertinent) from your computer.  Now reboot.
If the Mac starts up normally, shut it down again and then plug in one of the peripherals (keyboard or mouse first) and start up your computer again.  If it does so successfully repeat the process, adding one peripheral at a time until your Mac acts up.  At that point, disconnect the last peripheral you added, reboot your Mac and search the peripheral vendor's website for an updated driver.
If no driver exists or the problem remain after installing the new driver, try a different cable or a different port on your Mac.
If none of the above works, again disconnect all peripherals from your Mac, hold down the "shift" key to start up in "Safe Boot" mode.
If the Mac starts up correctly, restart without pressing the "shift" key.
If your computer still does not start up properly, shut it down and restart it while holding down the Apple+Option-P-R keys; keep holding "all 4 keys" down until you hear the startup sound "twice."
If none of the above work Disconnect all peripherals from your computer. Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
    Click Repair Disk.
(If Disk Utility cannot repair, you will need a stronger utility (3rd party) - Diskwarrior or Techtool PRO)
    Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751 and restart your computer.
If you are able to reach your desktop take note of how large your hard drive is and how much hard drive space do you have left?
    Remove any 3rd party ram.
Reinstall Snow Leopard - This will install a "fresh" copy of Snow Leopard without archiving old system files but leaves the rest of your files in place.
If your computer is still under warranty or you have Apple Care, take full advantage of it by letting tech support deal with your problems.  It's what you're paying them for.
Out of warranty - take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

  • Leaving my Iphone 3G at the mail accounts screen causes it to lock up.

Basically, if I leave my iphone 3g with 2.1 at the mail accounts screen, the circle at the top of the screen will run a few times and then eventually the phone locks up completely. I cannot hit the home button nor the power button to power it off. Either I have to wait and the phone will reboot itself on its own, or I have to press and hold the power button and the home button at the same time to reset it. Nothing has changed as far as additional apps or anything like that. I have added some music and video but still have about 2gbs left on my 8gb Iphone 3g. Has this happened to anybody else?
    Thanks.

awesome, so i did a restore and its stuck at the screen where its telling me to plug the phone into itunes...well, its plugged into itunes and not doing anything!
i ended up having to reset the phone and then itunes recognized it.

  • Does exiting out of the iCloud backup screen cause your iphone to stop backing up?

I have always wondered when I am backing up my iPhone to iCloud if the backup stops when i leave the settings screen or if i hit the lock button to turn off my phone. I have always left my phone on the settings screen on the iCloud backup page because i wasnt sure.

Your iPhone should backup fine.  You do not have to stay on the same screen.  In fact, you can browse the internet with Safari if you wish.
