Blu-ray menu link not going to correct page

Here we go again. I try something new, and it doesn't work. Here is the situation:
I have a Blu-ray menu. The main page of the menu has three buttons: Play Movie, Scene Selection, and Bonus Features.
Play Movie starts playing the disc at chapter 1, which is what it's supposed to do.
Scene Selection takes the user to the "first" page of the menu, where each chapter is listed and the first one is highlighted. The chapters span two pages, with the second page accessible by using the "Next" link at the bottom of the page. From that second page, you can either choose a chapter listed or go back to the previous page.
Bonus Features is set to go to page three of the menu, where the user can select to watch extra content which are each in their own timeline. This page is only accessible from the Bonus Features button on the main menu page. However, when it is selected, it goes to page 1 of the Scene Selection menu instead. The link in the Properties is set to go to "Disc 2 Menu:Page 3: Instrumental", which is the name of the menu, the page I want it to go to, and the button I want highlighted. But when I test it in my Blu-ray player, it does not behave correctly. Is there something in Encore I am missing? The button type is set to Normal, like the rest of the buttons on the Default page.
I don't want to keep burning discs to test this out when there doesn't seem to be anything else I can do to fix the problem. Hopefully someone knows what is wrong.

I have music and a video playing in the background, so the multi page menu is great for going to new pages and having the video and music continue playing, instead of having the DVD style menu where everything stops and starts over when you change pages.
So here is the top of my flowchart showing the main page of the menu and where each button goes. Everything works except Bonus Features going to P3B2 (I am guessing B2 is Button 2, which is what I want).
And here is the bottom of my flow chart showing what each button on that menu does.
Hopefully you spot something that is off. I might try to wrangle a second blu-ray player and see if it does it in a different machine as well.

  • Dreamweaver CS5.5 Template - Main menu button not going to correct page link

    Hi,
Please help me, as i am new to Adobe Dreamweaver.
I created a website in Dreamweaver CS3, then recently changed to CS5.5, firstly i couldn't get the templates to update, but by playing around i managed to get the template up update all the pages. #
I am now having problems when i click on the link in the website, it seems to be looking in the templates folder for the html page.
    Website addrerss: www.malegroominglounge.co.uk
Pages that i am having problems with when i click in the menu buttons : Male Waxing, Contact Us & Find us,
This is sometimes working but most of the time comes up with: 'Page cannot be found' and when looking at the URL it is e.g http://www.malegroominglounge.co.uk/Templates/malewaxing.html
Why is it looking at the templates folder?
I have checked the template file in menu url and it has not got an extension to look in the 'templates' folder.
    Could someone please help?

    Hi
    Thanks for your investigation.
Yes i can now see on the source that it is using the templates folder e.g (www.malegroominglounge.co.uk/templates/findus.html), but when I go into dreamweaver template, the code i see is:
      <div id="sidebar1">
        <ul id="MenuBar1" class="MenuBarVertical">
          <li><a href="index.html" class=" style1 style21">Home</a> </li>

          <li><img src="holisticguild300.jpg" width="130" height="46" hspace="3" /></li>
        </ul>
So not sure what i'm doing wrong.
Can I just check that the 'Don't rewrite relative document paths' check box should be unticked (this is found in DW CS5.5 - Site - Manage Site - Edit - Advanced Settings - Templates)
    Any help much appreciated
    Cheers

  • CD/ Blu-ray Drive Will Not Open/ Function Correctly

My CD/ Blu-ray drive will not open. I can force it open with a paper clip and put in a disk that way but it does not activate and read the disk. The drive also does not appear as a file selection under my hard disk drives section of my computer.
With this I am assuming my optical drive is broken so I tried looking for a replacement. I searched for the name of the optical drive in the HP PartSurfer and it says it is called SPS-DRV DVD SATA BD Combo 12.7. Just to be sure, is that the correct part I am looking for? If so, and say I were to go ahead and order this part, how do I go about removing the optical drive in my labtop and replacing it with the new drive?
    This question was solved.

My new blu ray disc did not come with a seperate digital download dis, now was there even a place for one inside the case, it came with instructions of how to install I tunes, then magically I would be prompted to enter the promo code and have it, no such luck, so now what?

Have you actually followed the instructions?
Did you enter the promo code?
If you did, were there any error messages?

  • Blu-ray menu button made with dynamic link won't work on Blu-ray disc

    Windows 7
    CS6 cloud
Ok.  So I used dynmamic link to my encore project and I also imported an mpg.4 as an asset for a separate menu button.  I have two buttons on linked to the premire pro project and one linked to the mpg.4.  Everything works fine in preview and the flow chart is fine everything is going where its supposed to go.
When I play the blu-ray disc the menu shows, the video thumbnails show...but when I hit the menu button that is supposed to play the premier pro video it does not work.  But when I hit the menu button for the mpeg.4 video it does work.
Can anyone tell me what is going on?

Please post a screenshot of your flowchart.

  • PS3 (blu-ray player) will not play movie after menu selection on this particular project?

When trying to play my finished Blu-ray disc on PS3 the menus display and work good. However, when I choose a selection to play the movie it returns back to the main menu. It doesn't matter if I choose the main play button or one of the chapters on the scene selection menu, it does not play the movie but rather returns to the main menu. Menus appear to be working fine!
I've used Encore for years and I'm pretty familiar with the ins and outs of creating DVD's. I'm a little new at creating Blu-rays but have found the process very similar to creating DVDs with the addition of being able to add Popup menus. I pretty much followed the same process as a Blu-ray I created a couple months ago which worked fine. So I'm pretty much at a lose how to trouble shoot this issue. The only thing that has changed is that I've upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite but I really don't know if that is a factor or not. Encore did not run into any issues while working on the project.
Everything works when previewing my project in Encore. All the menus and buttons work and the movie plays fine. Also, no errors are reported after running the Check Project process on the Build tab.
I usually create an ISO file to burn from later. Encore created the ISO file and reported success.
I'm running Adobe CS6 on a Mac with Yosemite. FCPX was used to output the AC3 audio file and 264 video file. Menu transitions are ProRes422.
So far while trouble shooting I've made 3 coasters.
1st disc was created using Yosemite Disk Utility to burn the ISO file created by Encore (my usual way).
2nd, and 3rd disc I let Encore burn directly from the project.
3rd disk I removed the PopUp menu as I've only done one in the past and figured I would try that as a trouble shooting step.
So, since everything appears fine Encore I'm really not sure how to trouble shoot this. I wish Apple would support Blu-ray better so I could just open the ISO file in DVD Player like I do when I create DVD ISOs. So much easier than having to trouble shoot by creating coasters.
If anyone has come across this issue before and has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. I'd like to complete this project and move on.
    Thanks in advance!

Well, at this point I'm thinking maybe something is wrong with the movie files output from FCPX even though they play fine in Encore. I noticed that there is a one frame difference between the video and audio file. The video file is 00:38:45:01 and the audio file is 00:38:45:02. I already output the file using Compressor. However, I'm still seeing the exact same time difference between the video and audio file when imported back into Encore. I'm going to rebuild the Encore project from scratch using the movie files output from Compressor and try again. If that doesn't work I'll use 7toX to convert FCPX XML and try importing the XML into Premier Pro and output the movie files that way for Encore. Or, output a master file from FCPX and let Encore do the transcoding.

  • The blue ray menu not working for Adobe Premiere Eelemnts 13

Hi , I bought Adobe Premiere Elements 13 while and when I using the software to create a Blue Ray disc, the final disc is not function at all after write. I have the same problem in Adobe Premiere Elements avuto 12. I try to use the software on the another computer and I have the same problem. Another problem is that the software writes up to 70% not 100% of the disk to create a Blue Ray Disc. Does anyone have any idea how I can solve these problems? How can notify the Adobe software on these issues? Thank you.

    DVi
    Thanks for the reply.
    1. You say that you are using the Quality area with check mark next to "Fit contents to Available Space", but what are the readings there
for Space Required and Bitrate when you have your Blu-ray disc in the burner tray and you have Status = Ready in the burn dialog?
What capacity disc are you using - BD-R 25 GB or BD-RE DL 50 GB?
    2. I understand that you have Premiere Elements 7 and can create a Blu-ray disc format with disc menus on Blu-ray disc with it. Is 7 on the same computer as 13 and using the same burner and disc?
    Did I understand correctly
    a. You can create the Premiere Elements Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc WITHOUT menus and you have no problems with playback on your player, but you cannot do that if you include the disc menus?
If that is the case, what specific disc menu are you using? And, how many Timeline menu markers have you placed on the Timeline beforehand?
How many main menu pages and how many scene selection pages results as a result?
On the Blu-ray format on Blu-ray disc with disc menus that are failing, is the preference for Intel HD Graphics 2000 and Higher enabled or disabled?
If your Timeline content will be generating a Blu-ray ISO Image greater than 1 GB, there can be more problems. Please see

Please review the above and supply the details mentioned, and then we can decide on a troubleshooting plan.

  • Blu-Ray audio does not loop properly on simple menu

I have authored a Blu-Ray disc using CS4 of Encore. Each menu is very simple: No motion elements. I have added a short clip of music to each (about 30 seconds). This is already transcoded AC3 audio (to ensure it matches the audio on the main movie(s)).
When playing back in test mode, the menus play fine. However, on a PS3 (the only BD player I have), it plays a few seconds (up to 10 seconds) of the audio and then loops. The false loop point occurs at different times on each menu.
The loop point on the menus is 0. The audio length is set to 30 seconds in the project and the menu is set to loop forever.
    Anyone else come across this?
    Thanks

Seems that this is a bug (rather bad one, actually), but there is a work around of sorts.

  • Blu-ray Compatibility Testing: Not Encouraging

Today, I decided to try playing a disc that I created with Encore, a Blu-ray disc that my Sony BDP-S301 reads just fine, at a local Sears consumer electronics showroom.
They had three Blu-ray disc players:
    Sony BDP-S300
    Samsung
    Sharp Aquos
I tried the Aquos first, but was dismayed to see that it displayed "cannot play this disc" after a minute of waiting.
The store salesman suggested I tried the Sony (which I thought was almost a wast of time because MY Sony plays this disc with no issues). To my utter shock, It produced the "cannot play this disc" after a minute of loading.
Finally, I took it to a Samsung player on another Blu-ray display on the end of an isle. That player did not recognize the disc either.
So thus far, 3 out of 4 Blu-ray players cannot play a disc authored in Encore. The ONLY player this disc works with is my Sony BDP-S301. Just one model higher than the one in Sears, and that makes the difference between play and no play.
What this amounts to is that if you're planning to deliver weddings on Blu-ray, be prepared to be doing a lot of refunds and eating the cost of a lot of blank BD-R media.
This is worse than I every imagined. I really had hoped the days of the Toshiba DVD player of 1998 were long gone. A 25% success rate means that recordable is NOT ready for prime time.

You are most correct, a lot of consumers are going to take it out of the box and use it, and not know or care about firmware updates. Eventually the problem will be sorted out by manufacturers (indeed I think it mostly already has, most if not all of the new release blu-ray players now support BD-R), this is just the same case when DVD players started getting big, some did not support DVD-Rs or RWs, etc. but most do now. I suppose the solution now would be to set up an email address (thats included in the BD-R packaging) and if people have trouble address them individually by email and inform them of firmware updates.
All blu-rays that we've released have a CYA statement about firmware updates and a link to the Sony site. If we have several major clients who can't seem to figure it out, have them email their model numbers and ship them a DVD with the update on it with instructions how to use it. I suppose a fee could/should be charged for that.
Hopefully we'll be out of this awkward phase soon....but only time will tell.

  • Blu-ray menu stutters

I'm working on this Blu-ray project that requires a 30 second looping menu with background video and four buttons on top. The background video is 1920 x 1080 @ 23.976 and the buttons have no motion; just a 30% transparent red box overlay when selected. It plays back fine when I preview inside of Encore CS5 and CS4 but when rendered out and burned to a blu-ray disc it stutters like it's playing back at 12fps or lower (tested on three different brands of players also).
I've tried multiple ways of encoding the background video (all at MPEG-2):
    1. through Compressor (dpx sequence to image sequence import) at high (40 max) and low (20 max) mbps,
    2. dpx sequence to ProRes 422HQ QT and then to MPEG-2 using Compressor at high and low mbps.,
    3. ProRes 422HQ QT to Encore for transcoding at max and high default settings.
All of these options work for a video playing in a single track non-menu Blu-ray so I know it's not my encode settings. I've been using them for a while and I've never had a problem until I needed to author a menu controlled disc. All of these different encodes give me the same result which points to Encore and it's buggy ways. I've read that creating a disk image or video folder will help but I've tried both and have also tried both using different burning software (Toast 9 and Blustreak Burner and even Encore).
If anybody has any theories or methods that will help, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Okay, here's what I've discovered...
Creating a Blu-ray folder or disc image out of CS4 allows the 1080p menu to playback correctly (smooth, correct frame rate).  Use the same project file in CS5 - the menu plays back at the wrong frame rate.  I've also re-created the project in CS5 (which fails) and then I built the image or folder using CS4 and everything worked fine.  Nothing was wrong with the video itself or any player I tested with.  Now I just have to figure out how to get the loop point to not lock up my background for 2 seconds while the buttons load.  With my luck, that is probably fixed in CS5 and then I'm back to square one.  This needs to be fixed now.

  • Create blu-ray menu for concert from scratch

    Hi all,
I downloaded the Premiere Elements 11 trial yesterday and am evaluating it for purchase.
My first project is a blu-ray of a concert.  I am on Windows 7 64bit.
    Project settings are:
    AVCHD 720p square pixel
    1280x720
    29.97fps
    30fps drop-frame timecode
I want to create a simple menu for blu-ray (ie an HD menu) that has a still background and simple text buttons.  The top menu would just have "play concert" and "track selection" text only buttons.  The "track selection" button would lead to a page with all the track names as buttons that link to the scene markers for each track.  That's it.
I only see pre-installed templates and none of them have the "HD" designation in the top right hand corner.  How do I go about achieving the menu that I want?
    Thanks, Ben

Along with Steve's suggestions, one can customize the existing PrE Menu Sets, just relying on the "background" Menu Set structure, and adding Still Images, plus doing limited customization to the Text, etc.
To create PrE Menu Sets (like those on Muvipix), one needs two things:
Photoshop (Photoshop Elements has one limitation - it cannot create Layer Sets, unless that has been added to PSE, as of version 11), and then knowledge of what goes into a PrE Menu Set. Because much of the authoring functions in PrE are semi-automatic, the Menu Sets are very involved. Though I create Menus for Adobe Encore, from scratch in Photoshop, I still need one of the Library PrE Menu Sets handy, to get all of those semi-automatic conventions in front of me - lot of stuff required there.
If you cannot customize an existing PrE Menu Set, or find similar at Muvipix, then we can offer some links, that will be helpful, but I strongly recommend that one spend a day, doing a study of the Library Menu Sets, and still having one handy, for the specifics, required. It also helps, if one understands the naming and structural conventions of DVD Menus, and then especially PrE Menu Sets.
Good luck, and let us know if you can find what you need, or something close, that you can customize.

  • Blu-ray Disc size not changing.

I followed adobes workflow for final cut to encore cs4 by using compressor to create and MPEG2 Elementary stream Blu-ray file.
now when i take the file (20GB) into encore the blu-ray project and my disc info always says 28 GB. I am trying to trim the end of the video so that the file would be smaller on the disc. I can do this fine with SD DVD's but in the blu-ray even if I make the timeline with only 5min of footage it keeps saying 28GB.
is there something I am doing wrong?
    The file says don't Transcode.
I am new to Encore and so far my experience hasn't been great with all the times its been crashing during importing assets and the "General Error" popups.
I am using CS4 with the  latest patch

I'm not really the most qualified to answer your question. Since the obsolescence of DVD Studio Pro and the ability to program menus and Steve Jobs saying that BD is a "bag of hurt" and Macs not directly supporting BD, there's been no point for me getting involved with BD creation. Media players (like Roku) will win (IMO.)
Does the disc you made at least play from your Samsung burner?
AVCHD discs are playable on blu-ray players and your final file size is small enough to fit on a regular DVD-r disc.  Have you tried just making an AVCHD disc on DVD-r?
You can actually burn blu-ray directly from FCPX OR you can create an AVCHD disc (just select the appropriate Output Device from the Settings tab in the Share dialog.) Simply Share to Blu-ray (you might have to Add Destination from the Share popup menu.) Does burning directly from FCPX make a difference? (I'd hate to have you sacrifice a 25g disc though... that's why I'd suggest trying the AVCHD disc first.)
[I'm sure other people have had better luck, but I have never had a Sony product that I could recommend to anyone. From old CD players to HD TV, everything Sony I ever bought turned to junk... except maybe one of the walkmans which I only keep around for extended blackouts (like hurricanes). After the TV, I finally learned my lesson. I would suspect the players as faulty before suspecting the disc as a coaster especially if it plays from the Samsung burner.]

  • Blu-ray in CS3 not possible

I have been trying for some time, and been working through message after message and problem after problem; rebuilding projects over and over and it simply does not appear to be possible to build a Blu-ray project with Encore CS3. Does anyone know if CS4 is any better?

Thank you for your reply Colin. I appreciate it and understand that my question was not exactly a question!
I have bought CS4 as I am desperate to get a BD out. I will try again and let you know the exact nature of the problems.
Up to now, it has been the usually suspects: Code 6 and "file not found" errors. I tried on two separate PC's: One with XP SP3 and one with Vista SP1. The files I pass to Encore are MPEG2 files and an AC3 file. Encore does not object to them and has them set to DON'T TRANSCODE.
For the Code 6 error, I tried to install MSXML 6.0 as per instructions, but the system says I already have a later version installed.
I then tried deleting the AuthorScriptHDMV folder (many, many times) which either results in that error re-appearing over and over or I finally get a "File not found error". To combat that, I rebuilt the project (many times), finally just creating a simple menu with one button to play the movie. The same results: Multiple code 6's and deletes of the folder finally resulting in a File not found.
I have Edius and Procoder installed (XP machine only), along with AE CS3 and PPro CS3. I checked the list of software that Encore does not like on the same machine and I don't have any of those.
    My main system (XP) is:
    Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3P mainboard, QX6700 2.67GHz, 2GB RAM, GeForce 9800GT with 1GB RAM, 320GB SATA2 System Drive. Two SATA 2 Video Drives.
Edius 5.00. Procoder 3.0. Adobe Encore. Edius NX Express.
    Dublin, Ireland. PAL.

  • Project in PRE10 will burn as blu-ray but will not burn as DVD.

I created a project of still images in PRE10 with the NTSC-HDV-HDV 1080i 30 settings.  I burned the project as a blu-ray and it turned out great.  I tried to burn the same project to a DVD and it goes through the encoding process fine.  However, when it gets to actually burning on the disk it completes about 5% and then abruptly finishes saying the burn is complete although no files are written to the DVD (it is still blank).  The same thing happens when I try to burn the project to a folder (no files are created).  I have created other projects with this setting and am able to burn to either blu-ray or DVD.  Any ideas on why this happens?

As your Blu-ray results are good you must have large scale images in your project. What are the pixel dimensions of your still images?
Your project is High Definition 1440x1080i, whereas DVD is Standard Definition 720x480. This means that PRE has to scale down the images. Unfortunately PRE is not too good at downscaling and can choke the program.
This tips & tricks article has a lot of information about this issue: Large Still Images into PE - One Workflow.
That article, at 111 items, is rather long. In a nutshell though it recommends still images be scaled in photo editing software to the target size - 720x480 in your case or, if you want to do some pan & zoom, around 1000x750.
So for your particular case you should resize your large images. If you do this in exactly the same proportions as your HD project images you could then replace those in the existing timeline with the smaller and perhaps your project will then complete burning.

  • Menu Links Not Highlighting Completely Once Authored To Disc

Hi,    I haven't been able to find anything answering this question as yet - apologies if it's something that's been covered already..
I'm using CS5, and I've gone via Dynamic Link to Encore.. All has been good - and it all looks sweet on the preview, but I've found that once on disc, some of the Menu Links aren't highlighting completely..
For example, one named 'Program' - it'll highlight PROGRA, but M won't highlight..     Not all words are doing this,    but there are a few, and it's not just the last letter...  Little strange..
Here's what I can think of as far as project infomation goes:
    * I've got the colour set on 'Default' for all of them..
    * I'm burning to Dual Layer discs and working in PAL
    * Menus are all made in Photoshop, imported PSD as Menu (each link is a separate layer etc)
If you've got any ideas I'd love to know what's going on here
    Thanks,
    Rory

    Yea I mean inside Photoshop.
Like Stan said i meant to say the layers.
Here is a screen grab I found online as an example.
