Blu-ray Motion Menus in Encore CS4

Okay. Just upgraded to Encore CS4 from CS3. Few nice changes.
Have crashed about 10 times (in one hour) doing simple things like, assigning folders, playing video, adding menus. Can anyone say maintenance release???
Here's a question...
WHY CAN'T I SEE THE VIDEO I HAVE ASSIGNED TO A MENU WHEN I SIMULATE?
This was working in CS3 now it's NOT in CS4. Tried on two different machines, one with ATI card an the other with nVidia!
ADOBE... are you there???

That's right. CS4 simply behaves different to CS3!
I have never had to render out a menu to preview it. We only create motion menus for Blu-ray and only use highlight layers from Photoshop. In CS3, when you right clicked on a menu in Encore and clicked "simulate from here", you would see your highlight layers over the video immediately.
NOW, with CS4, you must render out the menu after clicking "simulate from here" to see it. VERY annoying but I'm sure Adobe did this for a good reason.
Pop-up menus I am glad to report actually work! We haven't figured out how to create motion pop-up menus yet but I suspect this is not available yet in Encore.
If anyone knows any differently, I'd love to hear it.
What's fixed and I'm SO GLAD is that during simulation, the SKIP FORWARD chapter button WORKS!!! In CS3, you had to pause the video and then could skip forward. Now, like any other normal program, while the video is playing, you can skip forward.
I would thank Adobe for fixing this but, let's face it, this just should have worked in CS3!

Darren

  • Blu-ray disc burned with Encore CS4 stops after each chapter instead of reading continuously

    Hi
Blu-ray disc burned with Encore CS4 stops after each chapter instead of reading continuously
This happens with an entire series of chapters but does not happen with another series of chapters on thre same DVD.
I am missing something to solve this issue.
    Can anyone help?

    Hi Jeff,
    I just checked:
There is no override on the montage

  • Blu-Ray Motion menus don't work!

    Hey Gang,
I posted this issue before but since I received a very limited response, I'm hoping that someone will respond to this simplier issue.
I created a empty blu-ray project. I placed the Encore Crib Motion Menu HD into the project. The menu provided NO motion even after rendering.
I then created a standard DVD project and performed the exact same steps. The motion menu now works.
    I'm running a system with Vista 32 loaded & CS3.
Anyone get the motion menus to work in Blu-Ray?
Please let me know. It will take a minute to duplicate my project.
BTW, I have tried this on two seperate system yielding the same results.
    Thanks!
    Steve

  • Photoshop file error when rendering motion menus in Encore CS4

    Hello
I hope someone can help me please?
I've successfully (after 3 attempts) managed to import my PP project into Encore, created the menus etc from the presets that come with Encore (Wedding Garden menu).  When it comes to rendering the motion menus with the animated buttons option checked, after a couple of seconds it comes up with a Runtime C error - photoshop file (508) i think it is and it crashes.
It's a new system CS4, Windows 7 64bit, 2x2.40ghz quad core processor, 24gb ram, nvidfia 285 2gb graphics card - do you need to know anything else?
I've rendered the motion menus without ticking the animate buttons option on the 3 menus I have (it's a wedding dvd - main menu and 2 sub menus with animated thumbnails) and its worked.  This is ok as a workaround but I'd really like to be able to have the menu thumbnails animated.
    Many thanks
    Rachel

Thanks v much i'll certainly give that a try -
if it helps - I managed to make a note of the error message after I had sent my initial posting on this topic.
    [..\Port\PhotoshopObject.cpp-568]
Thanks again for posting a reply

  • What is the easiest ways to create motion menus in Encore CS5 w/ After Effects CS5

    Hello,
What is the easiest way to create motion Menus in Encore CS5?  I'm creating a motion menu in after effects CS5 and will import as a menu in Encore, but I want to keep the animation, while the buttons will navigate you to the appropriate timelines.  I want to keep the animation going throughout the duration of the menu?
    Thanks,

    Thanks Stan.  Big Help

The first link is Encore CS5 help. It is a good beginning.  I'm not sure if the tutorial it links to is the same as my second link.  The AE help link below is also useful.
CS5 allows creation of buttons in AE, but for plain navigation options, I think it is just as easy to add in Encore or Photoshop.

  • Rendering Motion Menus in Encore - Photoshop File Error -1

I've looked everywhere for the answer to this.... I cannot render my motion menus in Encore.   I recently upgraded to OS Maverick (fresh install) on a brand new SSD drive.  I'm using CS5.5.
    Help!!!
(To go in more detail, I did a screencast below)

I did not watch the whole video.
Both (photoshop -1 and the mega-content ROM) are known issues with Mavericks. We are not getting enough feedback to know how well, or not, Encore is working on Mavericks.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5950080#5950080
    Photoshop -1 issue:
The workaround was not to left-click on the menu. Use right click, or other options and menu commands.
    Edit: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5810884#5810884
See post 12 and several following where we are looking for workarounds to the error.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5861618#5861618
For bluray projects, a large amount of BD-ROM is shown, and may slow startup.
A workaround is to add a small amount of ROM content.

  • Blu-ray motion menu resolution

Does Encore not support 1920*1080 resolution motion menus for Blu-ray discs? Whenever i create a motion menu it displays at 720*480 (100%) even though it is a 1920*1080 video. Am I missing something?
    Thanks,
    Scott

Encore does support all high definition resolution Blu-ray menus, but menu preview is limited to 720x480.
Try burning a BD-RE and then checking it in a BD player to see the full high definition motion menu.

  • Red frames in my Blu-ray Motion Menu

It seems like every time I start a new project, Adobe has a new problem for me to work through.
I am building a Blu-ray that has a motion menu that is the length of a song. I've done this before and had no problems. But for some reason this time Encore CS6 is doing something odd. On the finalized disc, about two seconds into the motion menu, what I had for the motion menu is replaced by solid red. It flickers a few times at first, and then stays solid red until about the 35 second mark, where it goes back to normal. The menu still works, and the buttons are all still visible and selectable.
Part of the video was created in After Effects and exported as an .mp4 file. That was brought into Premiere Pro CS6 and placed in a timeline which had a single frame of the menu as an image until about the 37 second mark, which is when the animated video from AE would start. This timeline was exported as an H.264 Blu-ray m4v file with a 20-35mbps rate, which is what all the other videos are set to. The video itself plays fine if I bring it back into Premiere or watch it somewhere else, but as soon as Encore transcodes it for the menu, I get the red screen near the beginning. I have tried higher and lower bit rates, but no matter what, it always does it in the same spot for the same amount of time.
Is this an Encore CS6 issue? Does Encore not like it when there is not much motion in a motion menu? I have done others where there is no motion for large parts of them and had no issues. Or a video driver issue, or a video file issue? Should I just use an mp4 for the motion menu video since it gets transcoded anyways? Or does Encore act up if a motion menu is too long?

You are a life saver. I imported the video as an mp4 and not an already-compliant m4v, and Encore rendered everything perfectly.
My list of what to do, what not to do, and tricks for getting this program to work properly is getting longer and longer. I can see why it's bundled with Premiere Pro and not a stand alone product that costs money. And I can see why they are not making new versions of it anymore. Sony Vegas Pro works far better apart from not being able to switch menu pages while keeping the background and music going.

  • Preview works perfect, Blu Ray disc doesn't - Encore Cs5.1

    Hello All
I have never had any trouble creating blu ray discs before until this one. I have a project created with no errors reported when i check it. The flow chart looks good. The timelines dont have crazy long names with spaces. The preview plays PERFECTLY!!! After burning the project to a blu ray disc i see that the buttons on one particular menu will not work even though they are connected to the proper timelines. Also the FirstPlay which is a short 20 sec video timeline will not play.
Its driving me crazy cause ive never had trouble creating a blu ray before. Ive tried to play it in three different players and all the same results.
    Am i missing something

Well im not sure yet but i think this was a problem with me Premiere Pro exports. I had exported all but one video with a 25 frame rate. apparently blu-ray will not play that. Im currently exporting new video in a 29.97 frame rate and will attempt to burn a new disc.

  • Creating DVD menus in Encore CS4

I have only very briefly experimented with trying to create a DVD menu for my Premier Pro CS4/Encore CS4 projects.  I must say I have found it not at all intuitive.
    Can anyone please:
1: Recommend a nice clear tutorial on how to create DVD menus in PPro CS4/Encore CS4
    and/or:
2:  Recommend a nice simple not-too-costly programme with which I can create DVD menus from my PPro CS4/Encore CS4 projects.
The menus which come with Encore seem pretty naff, too.  If anyone can recommend some simple software which has nicer ones I'd be grateful.
    Thanks all!

Unless PSE 9 has changed things, the big limitation in using Photoshop Elements is that it cannot create the Button Layer Sets, but can edit them, from the Library Menus. Photoshop has no such limitation.
I do not know if GIMP can do the Menus, but it is often recommended as a free alternative for PS. As I have PS, I have not even seen that program in decades.
One additional source for pre-made Menus is Muvipix. These are free to subscribers, and for sale to non-subscribers. Also, they are done as PrE Menu Sets, but can be broken down and modified to function as stand-alone Menus for Encore.
There is a source for pre-made Menus, in the UK, but last time I checked they were heavily weighted to weddings.
Personally, I just start with a Library Menu, and modify/build what I need in PS.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Where's my 5.1 sound? (Blu-ray disk built in Encore)

    Hi there!
Basically, I need to do a very very simple thing... but it's not working. I'm sure you can help.  ;-)
In Encore, I have a simple menu with 2 buttons:
    button1 --> audio 1 (2.0)
    button2 --> audio 2 (5.1)
    ...and that's almost it.
The thing is, once "built", my Blu-ray disk has 2.0 on audio 1 and on audio 2 also...
    What's the trick?
    Thx  ;-)

This is a screen shot of your 5.1 ac3 being played back on a Panasonic BD player via my dolby decoder after being burned to a Bluray disc so it seems your file is fine.
To make my disc I made a 1920x1080 25i H264 bluray file of colour bars the same length as your audio and then made a PAL Bluray project in Encore with just the bars and your ac3. This was burnt to disc using ImgBurn.
How are you adding the video to Encore?  Are you using a H264 of the correct size or are you letting Encore do the video transcoding? If Encore is doing the conversion perhaps it is also transcoding the audio so as to make the best use of the disc capacity.

  • Blue ray divd chapter in encore cs3 unable to navigate to next chapter

Topic " Blue ray chapter in encore the navigation does not work in either preview or folder created or on the blue ray disc
I had my first HD projected edited in premeire cs and exported back to tape without problem in High def. Then the projected was exported as mepg high def file and imported in encore project testing does not show any error. But when I preview and play a chapter from menu and then click on the next button it only momentarily goes to next chapter but returns back to begining of the chapater it was playing before. although end action for that has been properly set to go to the next chapter. In other words the menu chapters do not go and play the next chapter as they should even when the end points have been st properly. Any suggestions. One way suggested was that I should create short separate clips and put on individual time lien and then link the buttons on the menu to individual time lines rather than chapters on a single time line has this bug in encore being assressed if so how to go about it?/

I found a similar problem with the chapters in a single time line not responding at all when linked to separate buttons when I used ENcore CS3 to create the BLuRay project and burn either a folder or image (both BluRay) and then to burn the folder or image to a DVD+-R disk with ImgBurn.
I made sure there were no overrides set, and put each chapter in a separate playlist ( as had been suggested on CreativeCow's forum over a year ago and which worked nicely for me using Encore 2.0 for burning regular SD DVD's). However, this chapter to button system played ok for me in the Encore preview, but not to the burnt disk.
When I used the separate timeline technique instead of the chapters, though, the project played perfectly in BluRay players.
One complicating factor is that I am using Cineform to capture, and edit so I can't be sure that's not a factor.
I also should note, that using my cineform footage, I couldn't get the chapter markers I set in PremiereCS3 to carry over to Encore for some reason so I had to set the chapter markers in Encore.
If you wouldn't mind, would you create a short BluRay project (I assume you don't have cineform.
    1. Using the chapter points being careful about the overrides and using separate chapter playlists for each chapter.
    2. See if it previews properly
    3. Burning a BluRay folder.
    4. Burning the folder to a BD-RE disk with IMGBurn and see how that works.
Let me know how that works. Thanks.
    John

  • See any Blu-Ray/HD support in Encore 2.0?

I have built a new machine and am updating to ProductionStudio Studio1.0 & Cineform AccessHD4 to be ready to put my HDV footage on discs. Because of the revised bundling, I only have Encore 1.5.1 now. Can anyone tell me if there is evidence of HD support in 2.0 yet? For instance on startup, is there an HD option in addition to NTSC and PAL....or evidence of support for 1080x1920 geometry? Looks like Blu-Ray players and movie releases are set for May 23rd, so burners should be available to consumers soon and Blue-Ray Assn members like Adobe should have them now. Should I hold off till there is an Encore 2.x that advertises that support? Thanks in advance.

I don't know what you mean by the statement that HD DVD (or Blu-Ray, etc.) is a totally different standard, that Encore would not be able to handle it. (First of all, how do you guys know that, are you engineers by chance?) I'm not a software programmer, but can't you just add the code necessary to make any piece of existing software do the same thing? Why couldn't there be added presets for new Encore DVD projects -- one for standard DVD, one for HD-DVD (with all its book settings, architecture, etc.), and one for Blu-Ray (with all its necessary settings)? Whether it's two pieces of software or one, why couldn't you just put the two groups of code in one software? Just like Premiere Pro and After Effects are resolution-independent -- you can import anything, at any pixel size, any screen shape, any frame rate, from any device, whatever...and output it at any resolution, frame rate, etc., even to a film recorder. Software is software, you just put whatever specs need to be put in the code. A software/hardware engineer can correct me if I'm wrong on this in relation to DVD.
That said, I do agree with John that WHEN Adobe implements high definition DVD authoring of any sort (NOT IF - it will have to to compete with the overall move to HD production/distribution), it will be later than sooner becaue Adobe tends to focus on the less expensive (relatively speaking) ways of implementing high end technology for the video production industry. (Think of the latest Production Studio package and what they've achieved.) They're not Sonic, but they're not consumerish junk either.
By the way, NEC has recently announced they will be making an internal HD-DVD burner in April (or May, I guess whenever the spec is finalized). (See http://www.macworld.com/news/2006/03/10/nechddvdr/index.php?lsrc=mwrss)

  • Menus in Encore CS4

I created a menu in Photoshop, imported as menu into CS4 and applied motion video and audio to it.  I render and get audio with no video.  I have actually had this problem since CS2 and Adobe never provided a solution.  It is somehting in the way it comes in from Photoshop.  As much as I would like to fix that, that's not really the reason for my post.  I get around this by creating a NEW menu in CS4 instead of importing from Photshop and this works as it should.  The problem I have now is that I deleted the bad menu from CS4 and it doesn't show up as an asset anymore, but it is still listed in the Menus tab and it generates an  Orphan Menu error and button errors when I "Check Project".
Clearly I have found yet another bug in Adobe's enormouslyu crappy software, and I wonder why I haven't switched to Final Cut Studio yet, but anyway, can anyone help me understand what the problem is here?  Can I just purge the entire cache of this project without having to start it all over?  Has anyone else run into this?

I deleted the menu and the AV assets, then closed the program, reopened it.  The menu was still listed and the problem was still there.
It seems that the phantom, or orphan, is still appearing linked in some way. If it will not delete via the normal means, it might well be time to start a new Project and just create it as you have the current one, without the Assets that you decided to eliminate. I do not know all of the possible links and where they might reside, but there still must be some reference to that Menu.
Question: is it "listed" in Project Panel, or does it appear in the FlowChart's "Orphanage?" Some have had a similar issue with the Party Menu, where once used, it will not go away, regardless of the operations performed. In most of those cases, the particular Menu did NOT appear in the Project Panel, but DID appear in the Orphanage. I have tried to replicate this issue with the Party Menu, but have always failed to do so. I also believe that Jeff Bellune has also been unsuccessful at replicating this issue, even following the exact steps by the posters.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
