Blu Ray playing software

Hey I know this has been battled a lot but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me.
I have an external blu ray player that sis recognized by my Mac, I can see the Blu Ray drive and the Blu Ray disc information but I cannot play the video itself. One third party software that kind of works is the macgo Mac Bluray Player but it only plays the video itself it doesn't let you access the menus or anything. Does anybody know of any third party software that allows you to watch Blu Rays?

how to connect my sony blue ray play to wifi via my airport utility?

The airport utility has nothing whatever to do with the sony bluray player.
The airport utility is to setup wireless in the airport.. once you setup wireless then you use the sony setup for wireless in the player as per its manual.
Please do keep the wireless names short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
As well as pure alphanumeric passwords if you want to do this successfully.

  • Is there any Blu-ray Player Software compatible with my iMac OS X Mountain Lion?

I want to watch a Blu-ray Movie on my iMac(OS X Mountain Lion), so I need a best Blu-ray Player Software.

You need third party software, Macgo Blu-ray Player can deal with the work you mentioned. As for the Mac Moutain Lion(10.8), I check their website and it is said that the Mac OS 10.8 are supported.
Refers to their product page: http://www.macblurayplayer.com/features.htm

  • How can I play blu-ray? - software advice

    Hi,
I've just got hold of a pioneer blu-ray player for my PC. I've got an Nvidia 7900 GT/GTO and an old-ish bug Compaq 21" CRT.
I say a posting on the Ubantu about Feisty Fawn ??https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/BluRayAndHDDVD
I was wondering if anyone knows how to do this on Arch and can give me some details?
    cheers

You'll also need HDCP-compliant hardware, so an oldish box won't cut it . The whole 'chain' of devices needs to be 'trusted' if you really want to play off the disc itself instead of ripping it.
Blu-Ray opticals > motherboard > HDCP-compliant output (I think that's the most important but not sure). Plus, you need a lot of processing power. Blu-Ray uses a h.264 codec, that can get quite beefy.
I sort of covered that already FWIW, Vista did play a BluRay as well as HD-DVD but it failed at playing the whole movie. More testing to be done. *IF* Vista is the only answer for BluRay then I'll be waiting until I can get a decent deck under $200 before buying any more BluRay discs.
GeForce 7000 & 8000 series sometimes have HDCP compliant DVI ports which can be adapted to HDMI as well. You just lose the audio stream. Certain Intel video chipsets also have the support. Don't personally know which ATI cards support it as I've always used Nvidia for my linux boxes except my new MythTV frontend which uses the board mentioned above.

  • Blu-ray play error, hp pavilion

    ==================================================================
Some blu-ray discs like Fantasia and Scott Pilgrim do not play with HP MediaSmart DVD saying every few seconds  "content is protected. content is not allowed to play in current display mode". win 7-64 bit, hp pavilion elite hpe-361c dvi or hdmi cable. Same discs play fine on hp pavilion m9457c with vista 64 bit
Some discs do play, like Karate Kid and Expendables. Strangely, Expendables played fine, reinserted and displayed the error, reinserted and played fine!
hp tech support in India spent a few hours of my life uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and software to no avail. hp tech support US, level 2 suggested googgling for codecs!?

  • July 2014 Blu-Ray Authoring Software comparable to DVD Studio Pro

Well, there have been a number of threads related to this question. The biggest problem with ALL of those threads is they get high jacked with people OPINIONS about the need to author Blu-Ray. SO let me start by saying if you intend to replay with "just use a dvd" or "no one uses blu-ray make downloadable content" or whatever your personal opinion is as to why I shouldn't need to author custom Blu-Rays like I could with DVD Studio Pro (DVDSP),  Don't bother posting in this thread. I have a legitimate need with a focused purpose and currently have not found a tool that allows me to do what I need for my business. Although I am getting by with available tools, I am not happy with the product I am giving to customers.
What I would like to find is a blu-ray authoring tool that allows from more than a basic menu and play function. In particular I need my blu-ray to play a short video before showing the menu. In DVDSP, this can be done very easily, but obviously its not HD.
If you know of a current tool, ideally MAC compatible but I am open to a good PC tool. That allows for blue-ray authoring beyond very basic menus like please share it.
Current Software I have tried that don't fit the bill:
Roxio Toast 11 :  only allows for very basic menus
    FCPX: Again only basic menu.
    Compressor: Even Less...
I don't mind spending a a bit on a known good tool, but I don't really want to spend 3000$ to do this simple task either.
Thanks so much for anyone that shares useful information!

I believe Encore is the best option after all my research. It is available once you subscribe to the new Adobe Creative Cloud.
I will say one thing that has worked for me as a blu-ray alternative, is to export the videos into a AppleTV/ iPhone / iPad compatible format (MPEG-4  .m4v) from FinalCut or QuickTime. The format is also windows compatible so it works regardless of the customers computer preference. A number of dvd / blu-ray players also support the m4v format.
I do wish that there was a good Blu-Ray authoring tool for MAC outside of Encore but at least Encore exist for the time being. I do find it interesting that Adobe also chose not to offer an authoring tool in their latest creative suite. If you can afford the 3k the Sony tool is pretty amazing FYI, even though its only PC.

  • Free Blu-Ray Player Software

does anybody know of any free blu-ray software that will play blu-ray my vaio is not playing them or updating...so i want to try a third party maker.

What does your question have to do with iTunes or Apple?

  • PE11 Blu-ray play problem, etc.

I just created my first video in PE11 and burned a Blu-ray disc. I made it as an auto play instead of with menus.
When I played it in my Blu-ray player, it would play but functions such as fast forward and rewind were not available.
Any ideas about what would cause this?
Also, I'm somewhat confused about the best method of creating a Blu-ray disc image to burn multiple discs rather than
waiting for each burn to render. It doesn't seem to have this function in PE for Blu-ray although it is available for DVD.
However, I noticed that there are multiple choices for saving as an HD file. Would any of these work?
Also, I have Roxio Toast 11. Would it be better to burn the first disc in PE and then copy the disc in Toast as a disc image?
This would seem to make sense, but I'm wondering if it is the best way.
I'm using a recent model Macbook Pro.
    Thanks for any help offered.

Unlike the Publish+Share/Disc DVD and AVCHD, Blu-ray has never had a burn to folder option, just burn to Blu-ray disc.
Many have used the Phantom Burner in conjunction with Premiere Elements to create a disc image for the Blu-ray. I have written about it in several places. Here is the latest.
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/11/pe12-disc-imagephantom-burner-pe.html
The above is applicable to Premiere Elements 11 Windows.
You wrote for your autoplay Premiere Elements Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc...
When I played it in my Blu-ray player, it would play but functions such as fast forward and rewind were not available.

This would seem to me to be a function of your player and its remote, not Premiere Elements. For comparative purposes, have you looked at "fast forward" and your player with an autoplay disc as well as a disc with menus in this instance? Are you using a BD-R or BD-RE Blu-ray disc? What do the instructions for your player say about it fast forward function and Blu-ray discs?
    You may not be alone.

Does anyone know if there is a player for Mac Os x who can work with the blue-ray disk?
    Thanks

Does anyone know if there is a player for Mac OSX who can work with the blue-ray disk?
Not directly, but you can extract the movie into a .mkv file with MakeMKV
    <http://www.makemkv.com/>
Then play it with QuickTime player after installing Perian
    <http://www.perian.org>
You can also play .mkv files with VLC

  • Will there EVER be a usable Blu-ray designing software on the Mac??????

I am SOOOO frustrated right now. I have a brand new Mac with FCP 7. I also have Adobe Encore. I also have Toast. I have been trying to use all three to make one BRD for 6 days! I first used Encore. The disk it made was all messed up (nothing new). The menu loads up, but the buttons won't highlight for about 45 seconds. Click on a button, and instead of going to the video, it starts the menu again. I assume it's me, so I open Encore and test there, everything works fine. I burn again, same problem.
I then decide it isn't worth fighting, so I try burning a Blu-ray from FCP7. I open the share menu, choose one of the awful built-in menus, and set it to go. I had it burn the BRD image to a harddrive, as my burner is on a different machine. After 12 hours!!!!! yes, 12 hours! I get an error saying the DSPPublishing didn't work (?????????). I hit try again, and a 10 minutes later, same issue! I hit cancel. I check the drive, and there is a .264 file and an ac3. I think, well, at least the video encoding is done. I try to make a blu-ray from FCP again, and it re-encodes the video!!!! 12 hours later, same error!!!!!!!!!
I decide to bring the finished files into Toast. The menus SUCK. The chapter markers? GONE. I try burning the disk anyway and it tries re-encoding the video files!! I go back and make sure it's set to 264, and the re-encoding is set to never. I try again, and it tries to re-encode the video again anyway!!!!
    THIS *****!

Let me clarify a bit. I have been making Blu-rays for quite a while using Encore. And while the process has often been very painful, the results are good. I normally Export first as mentioned. However when Encore failed (and I still can't figure out why), I tried FCPs Blu-ray feature. So essentially, I have exported this three different times, and have no disks to show for it.
As for Encore, I like that you can make BRDs, that you can customize menus, etc. However, the fact that it locks up or crashes all the time is infuriating. The fact that you cant use multiple clips without causing the BRD to freeze at the end of each clip is maddening, and the fact that its interface has the speed of running a 3D rendering program on a Commodore 64 is nauseating.
Encore COULD be a great product, but as it stands, it is a nightmare to use!

  • Decent blu-ray authoring software - any suggestions?

    Hi
I recently moved from PC to MAC and changed from Adobe to Final Cut Pro. I have no problems with authoring to DVD but I am struggling to see how I am going to do decent blu-ray authoring on MAC. Reason being is I have a number of clients that want both DVD and Blu-ray and I like to create interesting menus with background music. I am relatively happy with iDVD and DVD SP (which of course are not blu-ray compatible so no good to me) and I have just purchased Toast Titanium Pro and discovered you can not add music to the menu or do much else so it feels like a waste of money - any suggestions for good alternatives would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • W500 Blu-Ray Mat**bleep**a BD-MLT UJ232A will not recognize Blu-Ray DVD movie

Recently purchased W500 4061- W6U with Mat$hita BD-MLT UJ232A optical drive at Firmware level "TC02" will not recognize a brand new Blu-Ray DVD.  But will recognize and play a normal (non-Blu-Ray) DVD.  The system sees the Blu-Ray optical drive and shows it is working normally.  I attended to update the firmware, but the Lenovo Optical Disc Drive Firmware Update 1.6 utility, states the firmware is already at the current level and under the header New Firmware states "None".  Any ideas?  Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It has nothing to do with the drive.
Blu-ray movies are encrypted using keys. Hackers break the keys. So new Blu-ray movies then come out using new keys. WinDVD (your Blu-ray playing software) contains the keys, and needs to be updated. So see if there's a WinDVD update available from Lenovo's site. If not, then you'll have to pester Lenovo to get a new update from Corel. You can't get the update from Corel yourself.
Or you can simply buy a better Blu-ray player program, such as Cyberlink PowerDVD.
    Good luck!
