Blu-rays refuse to play on my HDX16t.

I've tried everything I can possibly think of to fix this apparent bug but all I seem to get is failure.  Ok, I updated mediasmart to the latest version (2.2.2.3309) and tried to run the Transformers blu-ray; however, the system lags and doesn't play anything even with no programs running.  I figured this was an HP problem so I downloaded powerdvd9 ultra and when I try to play a blu-ray it gives me a message that reads "unsupported media source."
I would try to reinstall the os but I really don't want to do that because someone else had the same problem I had and that's how he fixed it.  I'm; however, looking for alternatives.  Any suggestions will help

Yea,
I just bought a HP HDX 16 and when I tried to play a blu-ray disc, after 1 minute the Laptop crashed. When I rebooted I got a message blaming the optical drive and was directed to some driver upgrades. Now it wont work at all. Tried loads of things to no avail. have sent an email to HP and waiting (not hopefully) for a reply/solution.

  • Blu Ray won't play.

    Hi all,
I am at the end of my rope with googling on this one.  I am hoping someone can help me.
I moved into a house that has a media room.  In it is a HTPC with the following characteristics:
HP Media center m9000t running Windows Vista
    Nvidia 8500GT video card
    Blu Ray player
The room had a low def projector and I upgraded to a:
    Mitsubishi HC7900
I did a fresh install of all the software, and downloaded all new updates (Vista SP 1being most pertinent)
The Blu Ray wasn't working and googling led to the following actions, all failing:
    1) HP's DVDPlay was freezing.  After crashing my computer over and over I finally uninstalled it.  Eventually I found forums where they reccomended Cyberspace Power DVD 10 which I downloaded.  With this, the Blu Ray wouldn't play.
    2) Downloaded Cyberspace BD advisor.  Says the monitor is not digital.
    3) Use NVIDIA control panel to set up dual monitors (mirror of the two with the projector as primary).  The regular monitor is hooked up via VGA.  The Mits projector by HDMI.  The control panel tells me the card, and monitor are HDCP compliant.  The projector projects the image.  But a Blu Ray won't play.  The BD advisor tells me now that the HDMI connection has given me a digital image but there is still an HDCP issue.
    4) Upgraded to NIVIDA 335.23.   Still have HDCP issue
    5) tried VLC player.  Won't work.
    5) Uninstalled 335.23, went to oldest NVIDIA driver I could find.  Still HDCP issue.
    6) upgraded PowerDVD to 14.  Still won't play.
Not sure what to do.  My components all claim HDCP compliance.  This includes my projector, the NVIDIA card, the NVIDIA control panel, and the Power DVD 14 softward.  BUt the BD Advisor says I have a digital signal but have an HDCP issue.
I would really like to make this work with what I have.  Rather not buy a bunch of new stuff.
    Thanks in advance.
    Scott

  • NEW Satellite A505 - Blu-ray won't play on WinDVD or Toshiba DVD player

I purchased a Satellite A505 (Windows 7) with a Blu-ray disc player that was pre-loaded with WinDVD, Toshiba DVD player, and one other player (?) - all this software was added 12/21/2009 (by the manufacturer). When I put in a Blu-ray disc WinDVD stops responding and I have to start the task manager to "end task." The Toshiba player says "media not supported." I used the recommended compatibility settings (Windows XP) and it says "incompatible application." I tried using a Sony Vaio w/ Blu-ray and had no problems with the same disc using WinDVD. I don't know what's wrong (and I'm not super tech savvy) - my settings, my drivers, my hardware... ???
I also downloaded the free trial of Corel's WinDVD 2010 and it wouldn't play on that either...
*Note - my model number is A505-S6012 but I can't find this as an existing model on any of the Toshiba sites. It was delivered to the store around 1/4/10, so it's brand new. The A505-S6990 has most of the same features though.

    jacuielaura,
I had the exact same issue with the Win DVD BD that was preloaded on my A505-S6014 when I purchased it. I myself also downloaded the Win DVD 2010 free trial and it did not work. Reason being is that they are only allowing people to trial the DVD version of Win DVD 2010 and not the Win DVD BD 2010. I also tried Cyberlink's PowerDVD and it worked but it digitized terribly. So I uninstalled both trials and went to support.toshiba.com and found what I needed to fix it.
I recommend you uninstall the original Win DVD BD version you have and any trial editions you downloaded and follow what I have listed below to fix your problem.
This is only a recommendation. Uninstall and install software at your own risk. If this fix doesn't work for you then you will have to call Toshiba and request a disc to reinstall your original software you uninstalled.
This is how I fixed mine:
Go to Support > Download > then choose your category (Laptop) then your Family (Satellite) then you're model #(A505-6012). Or you can just enter S6012 in the search box and it should bring up a list of all Laptop models with S6012 in them. Choose yours and click Go.
Now from the two drop down lists choose which Operating system: (Windows 7 64 bit) should be what you have, then choose Blu-Ray in the 2nd drop down list.
Download and SAVE these files to your desktop or My Downloads folder so you do not have to search for them again after you reboot.
You should now see this listed:
WinDVD BD for Toshiba for Windows 7 (32/64)(v8.0; 11-05-2009; 176.1M)
Also you will need to download the (Intel Management Engine Interface driver) which is listed in the drop down list under Utility (2nd page):
Intel Management Engine Interface for Windows XP/7 (32/64)(v6.0.0.1184; 10-08-2009; 6.39M)
Reboot after each installation even if it doesnt tell you to.
After both downloads have been installed and the OS is completely loaded again, insert a Blu-Ray disc and hopefully it should automatically play.
P.S. When playing Blu-Ray's I turn my power management to Performance. This may also help.
    Good luck!

  • Can blue-ray disks be played on the new iMac?

If I buy disks in blue ray format, can they be played on the new iMac?

    Matt Clifton wrote:
No - you cannot play Blu-Ray movies on Mac OS X. You can, however, play them from within Windows if you have a Windows installation.
    Matt
I don't believe the internal DVD drive that comes with the iMac is capable of playing a Blu-Ray disc, period, Windows or otherwise. It would require an external Blu-Ray drive AND Windows. Not exactly cost effective when a stand alone player costs about $100 these days.

  • Blu Ray disc not playing or loading

I recently update my Cyberlink software to Power DVD 14 Ultra.  Was playing Blu Ray discs fine and then suddenly stopped loading and playing. I contacted Cyberlink support and this is what they replied>
"In regards to your concern, after analyzing the DxDiag.txt I've found that the Display Devices are not updated since 3/10/2010, and the Sound Devices since 9/7/2010.
Please update your VGA/Sound card driver. You may contact your VGA/Sound card manufacturer or the computer manufacturer to get the latest drivers."
I checked all the drivers and all the tests said they were up to date.  How do i update my video/graphics card so I can play Blu rays again?

  • Blu Ray doesn't play 1 of 3 videos on disc

I desperately need some help with an issue I am having with a Blu Ray I created with Adobe Encore CS5 for PC.
I have three videos on there but only 2 of the videos play when viewed in a home theater style Blu Ray player.
All three videos were created in Adobe PP CS5 and exported with the same exact settings (H.264 Blu Ray) but one video on the disc has a black screen when played. The audio plays in the background, though. The odd thing about this is the disc plays perfectly on my two Blu Ray drives at home but my client informed me about the issue with three of their players. I then tested it at a friends on their player and saw the issue.
I set up the whole project in encore and it test builds with no issues. It's also showing that my videos were transcoded fine since it doesn't default to transcoding them through Encore (see image).
I can't figure out what the heck is going on but it's driving me crazy that 2/3 of the disc is flawless but the first video on there doesn't work on home theater players.
Anybody hear of this before??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

    Thanks for the reply.
One timeline is strictly audio (it was a wedding and they asked for their ceremony audio).
I'm not sure why the one audio is unstranscoded. This last round of re-transcoding I did vbr 2 pass but other than that I stuck with H.264 Blu Ray options in Media Encoder. The FINAL.m4v is the video that isn't playing but the audio FINAL.wav does play (the one that is listed as unstranscoded)
I'm going to give it another round of transcoding tonight to see what happens.

  • Blue Ray won't play

my hp p6370t windows7 won"t play blue ray disks...it use too and stopped working.

    Hi,
The "laser" beams for BluRay is more delicated than beams for CD/DVD therefore we can see laptop BD ROM's are easy to break in comparison with the ones sit on our home systems.
My suggestion is to clean the lens and hopefully the problem goes away.

  • Blu-rays won't play on Satellite P855-307

    Hi,
I recently purchased this laptop but I am unable to play Blu-ray discs; the Toshiba Blu-Ray disc player software loads but does not appear to recognize the disc. The drive will play DVD/CDs with no problems. The same issue occurs with the Nero Kwik Media software.
Any ideas what the issue is?
I have tried running via integrated and NVIDIA graphics but it made no difference.

Yes, I have tried several discs with the same result. The drive itself seems to read the disc because it is showing the title and attempting to auto load. The blu-ray player software is showing a blank screen and appears to be trying to play a chapter 11 seconds long, but is stuck at 0:00 and won't respond.

  • My Blu-ray drive will play Blu-rays but won't recognize DVDs or CDs

Hi I have a Pavilion dv6 recently had a problem and I restored it back to factory settings. Thing is before I did this I tried making recovery discs. It made it through the first, then half way through the second, but said the second one was full then when I tried to put another disc in it wouldn't recognize it. I took the comp back to factory settings, but the problem still persists. My Blu-ray play is the HP BD-ROM BDCTD03HA . I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I can provide any other info if needed.

I forgot to mention I have tried just about everything and so far nothing has worked. Please I just want my dvd player back!

It plays DVDs, including Dual-layers DVDs but not Blu-Ray.
For that you would need an external Blu-Ray drive AND some player software.

  • Blue Ray Disc Won't Play

I insert a blue ray disc, It starts the HP MediaSmart Player and then comes up with an error message stating:
    Information
    The content is protected.
The content is not allowed to play in the current display mode.
The computer is only a month old and has never played a blue ray.  its plays regular DVD just fine.
Any ideas what the problem coould be?

    Hi,
It seems that your PC has old version of MediaSmart installed, and it does not get updated from Cyberlink (Who created PowerDVD too).
Please follow the steps given below to get it resolved.
Click Start->Control Panel->PRograms and Features. Select MediaSmart DVD and click Uninstall. Uninstall PowerDVD too.
    Install MediaSmart New Version:

    Or

If it does not work, install Trial copy of PowerDVD:

  • How to play Blu-Ray Discs

Obviously no current Mac offers a stock Blu-Ray drive. But once you buy a 3rd Party Blu-Ray drive how do you go about actually playing movies? Will Apple's DVD Player play them? Do you need a 3rd party application?

Once they start enabling DHCP on movie disks you'll
need a new graphics card and monitor, as well as
    player software.
I think you may be getting confused here - DHCP is the protocol used to automatically assign your machine an IP address when you connect to the network.
With regards to the OP question, You will need to use separate software with the 3rd party Blu-Ray drive to play movies

  • Qosmio F60, PQF65A - How to play blu rays?

Hey people, I have been having immense trouble getting the blu ray player to play the blu ray disc's. I got this laptop second hand and all the manufacturer software was uninstalled so I had to start afresh.
Currently I have Toshiba DVD player V3.01.1.07-A. I have been trying very hard to find a patch or a player that will allow me to play blu rays. Even VLC media player won't do it. Its frustrating the living out of me.
I have d/l so many versions of WinDVD but to no avail. I keep getting a message saying that its not compatible with my current version.
    Please help.

    Hi
The WinDVD BD was preinstalled on notebooks which are equipped with an BD drive.
The notebook seems to be an Toshiba Australian series and I found all the drivers and tools here:
    http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/qosmio/f60/pqf65a-00y002/download
There you can see that an WinDVD 8 Blu-ray Player Update is available for download but for models with Blu-ray.
If you are still using the original Toshiba Windows system, then you could try to set the notebook back to factory settings using the HDD recovery option or Recovery disk (you have to create such disk) and then can check if WinDVD BD would appear as preinstalled software.

  • Play 3D blu rays with the proper hardware

Hello community I have a burning set of questions.  So let me set the scene  i have a MBP 13", Early 2011, i5 2.3, 16gram, 3D projector.
So I'm looking at buying the MCE internal Blu ray drive to play 3D/blu rays.  What i want to do is play 3D movies though my projector and here come the question
    1.  Can the HDMI on my mac push though the 3D signal "frame packeting"
Thats the main question because if this doesn't work then its time to look for another solution.  if reply to this can you put in links to confirm your findings

sorry OGel thats not what I'm asking and your half right about apple not supporting Blu rays and I quote " At a software level" but hardware its fully compatitable and the mini display port is technically able to push out the Res and Hz thats needed for 3D.
BUT can it put out the single of frame packing so my 3D projector picks it up as a 3D sources
AND has any one done this with other apply hardware not including mac pro's
