Blue and Grey Bar taking up bottom half of page in Firefox?

Hello,
I have a massive blue and grey bar going across the bottom of my screen when I use Firefox resulting in my screen size being half of what it should be. What is this and how can I make it go away? Been using Firefox for years and this is the first time I have ever seen this.

Try to start firefox in safe mode and see if the problem's gone, if the screen looks ok in safe mode, the problem is 1 or more add-ons, try to disable them one by one to see which one has caused the problem.
to start firefox in safe mode: goto help menu and click on Restart with Add ons disabled

For some reason the blue status/task bar that would normally display at the bottom of the webpage (shows time, etc.) is no longer visible. I do not know how it got turned off and going to view-status bar simply enables a gray bar to display that says "done". That is the Windows Taskbar and not part of Firefox.
The Firefox Status Bar shows messages like Looking up and Waiting for and loading and Done.
If you do not see that Taskbar with Firefox closed then you may have hidden it.
Try to move the mouse at the bottom and see if you can pull it up with the left mouse button pressed.
If the Taskbar disappear if you open Firefox the check the Properties of the Taskbar to make sure that it is always visible.

My blue vertical navigation bar drops to bottom of the page

I use the latest edition of Firefox together with windows XP. The problem happens when I use Firefox, Google or Chrome to access a web site or email. The page being viewed drops to the end and I cannot use the navigation bar to return to my original place. I have used CCleaner to clear unwanted files. Sometimes this works for a limited period. I would be grateful for any assistance that you may be able to give me. Thanks.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Turn off the Reduce Transparency setting.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)

Where is the refresh button and where is the bar at the bottom of the page that gives the loading status of the page? Why did you mess with something that was perfectly fine??

I updated to firefox 4 and it's not as good as the former version. There is no refresh button, and I use that a lot. There is no loading status bar at the bottom of the page and I liked the tabs BELOW the page address.

In Firefox 4 by default the Stop, Go and Reload (Refresh) buttons are combined and attached to the right hand edge of the location bar.
When you are typing in the location bar it will show the Go button. When a site is loading it shows the Stop button. At other times it shows the Reload button.
If you want separate buttons, right-click on a toolbar and choose Customize, you can then drag and drop the stop or reload buttons and place them elsewhere. If you place them in the order "Reload-Stop" on the right hand edge of the location bar they will be combined again. I’m sorry you are having trouble starting up your iMac, that must be quite frustrating. There are some troubleshooting steps I would suggest in order to get you up and running again.

Can I repeat the navegation bar at the bottom of a page?

Some webpages I am writing are fairly long. I would like to repeat the navegation bar at the bottom of the page, so that the reader does not have to go to the top of the page to navegate through the pages of my website.

I played around with the script a bit more and couple potential problems came up with the script:
1) Race condition, that is when the nav bar is not completely loaded and the script duplicates it, therefore the bottom nav bar will not be created.
2) Both nav bars may not render correctly when you use decorated themes, themes with fancy background ie: Darkroom, Layered paper etc...
So this is an improved script, please use this instead of the previous one:

You might want to consider getting rid of that '''desktopsmiley''' program that has messed up your UserAgent, it is known as Malware.

How do I view the Horizontal Scrolling bar and status bar at the bottom of the screen. I can only see the top menus, toolbars and vertical scroll bar?

Before the most recent upgrade, the bottom horizontal scrolling bar and status bar appeared on my screen. Now since upgrading, I cannot see the. Anyone ideas how to restore them?

If you haven't already, you could force-quit Quicktime by using the menu option from the desktop (finder) and choose Quicktime.
Not sure what you have frozen on the screen, be it a failed movie, or some unusual screen shot. If you can find by date (created) you may be able to look for .mov or quicktime suffix name or other video file content to delete it.
And you may have to restart your computer and perhaps run repair disk permissions from Disk Utility's first aid on the hard disk drive in your computer.
Not sure if all that would help now, but it is something a few days late...!

I keep getting window up saying urgent update recommending download, but when i do try, all i get is a blue and white bar moving . i have left it run for hours and nothing happens. what is it?

Since then i keep getting update window coming up every day highly recommending i update but when i try, nothing happens except blue/white moving bar at top of window. i have left it run for hours and no progress, so i close it. The next time I open FF, it appears again and again same happens.
If there is an urgent update, how urgent is it if I cannot download it.It's worries me that i can,t load it and how it might affect my security.

It would be a great idea to uninstall Norton - you don't need it and it has a pretty poor reputation for mucking up otherwise healthy Macs.

Edit: To see whether you actually have Norton installed launch Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder. If it's installed you'll likely see some Norton entries there.
Also, in System Preferences>Users & Groups or Accounts, depending on OS)>Login Items, it might be listed.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).<br />
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.<br />
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.<br />

CP5 and TOC not working on bottom half

Has anyone else experienced the TOC not opening half the pages listed? I've looked at preferences and the skin and don't see any reason why the TOC won't open items listed on the bottom half of the page. We've tried republishing it incase it was a gremlin but it still doesn't work.
The first halp opens the pages the second half of the listing light up like they are working but their associated pages still don't open.

I don't see the option in TOC Settings that you refer to. We are using CP5.
We've refreshed the TOC. We've rebooted the computer. It just won't play the last three options in the TOC.

Laserjet 5p - Grey bar down left hand side of page

I got this ancient printer for $6 at Value Village. It works great, except I get a grey bar down the side. I've attached an image so you can see what I mean. How should I fix it? Is it even fixable?

Replace the toner cartridge. Inside the toner cartridge is a wiper blade that removes excess toner from the drum after it has printed since not all toner transfers to the paper. Your blade has a defective area and does not remove the toner and in fact lets additional toner adhere to the drum causing your problem. Only way is to repair is to replace the toner cartridge. Good Luck in finding a good one. You can only get remanufactured ones these days as any in a sealed hp original box will also be defective since they are very old and the blades on those are bad or will go bad after only a couple of prints.
