Blue arrows on all adobe files

I cannot open adobe files, have uninstalled and reinstalled.  all my adobe files now have 2 blue arrows on them
This is the error message
Adobe cannot open file because it is not a supported file or it has been damaged (for an example sent as an email attachment and not correctly decoded)
I did send a photo as an attachment and had trouble sending it, and since then all these 2 blue arrows appeared on all my files whether they be photos or just files that have been saved as a pdf.  I am not that computer au fait, so would appreciate any help
Many thanks

A screenshot of these "blue arrows" would be helpful; see http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1070933
Also, what is your operating system?  Reader version?

Your redemption code was used to acquire an activation code.  The activation code is what you need to use when you want to reinstall/enable the software again.  Check your Adobe account online to see if the number(s) can be found there.

  • New HTC Windows 8 phone Adobe Reader won't open all Adobe files

HTC Windows 8 phone Adobe Reader is not compatible with all Adobe files. Will open some but not all.

    Hi byron,
What kind of pdfs are these?
Would it be possible to share a sample file with me at: [email protected]  so that I can have a look.

  • Firefox opens all adobe files with firefox web browser. I disabled add-on, but it still does it. How can i disable this feature?

All adobe files now automatically open in firefox web browser, even when opening them from widows explorer. I want all adobe files to be opened in adobe reader as a default. Yet I disable the plugin Adobe Acrobat 11.0.9.29 and it still does this. I can't use firefox this way.

When you open a PDF file that you saved to your computer, by double-clicking the file, does it open with Adobe Reader or with Firefox?
If the PDF file opens with Adobe Reader then follow the instructions in [[How to disable the built-in PDF viewer and use another viewer]] to set Adobe Reader as the application for Portable Document Format (PDF) in your Firefox Options for Applications.
If the PDF file opens in Firefox when you open it from your hard drive, even though you have Firefox 33 installed, try uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox:
#Download the latest Firefox version (currently 33.1.1) from [https://www.mozilla.org mozilla.org] and save the setup file to your computer.
#*Note: You can use [https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/new/?scene=2#download-fx this link] for the online (stub) installer or choose the full installer for your operating system and language from [https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ this page].
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and click the Exit button [[Image:Close 29]]).
#[[Uninstall Firefox from your computer|Uninstall Firefox from your computer]].
#Reinstall Firefox using the setup file you downloaded before.
<b>WARNING:</b> Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your [[Profiles|Firefox profile]] data.

  • Error Message on all Adobe Files

    After the recent upgrade and even after I went and reinstalled Adobe Reader 11.0.06 ? all of my current adobe file that I click on to open have the same message;
Adobe Reader could not open '(file)' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).

    Hi TechSlink,
You may try uninstall Reader using the Adobe cleaner tool. To obtain the cleaner tool please visit: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
And check the issue and let me know the result.

  • Reader 9 uninstallation nightmare - want to clean up all Adobe files

I have such a mess going on on my computer. It all started when I downloaded and installed Reader v9....with no problems. I then noticed that previous Reader version v8 was not uninstalled, so I tried to uninstall v9 with Windows uninstall feature (control panel) in order to cleanup v8. This turned into a nightmare because of acrobat.com and Air that came along with v9. I couldn't get rid of all newly installed features/files. I kept getting error messages...so many I can't remember them. I downloaded Windows Install Cleanup but this wouldn't work either...similar messages as with Windows uninstall. I even tried my TuneUp Utilities 2008 to uninstall, but similar problems. I also used this program to clean up the registry. Finally I reinstalled Reader 9 and then its uninstall feature as well as all the others I've just mentioned. The result is that buried all over my hard drive are Adobe files that show up when I do a search for "Adobe", but show that the specified paths do not exist when I try to access them. So, what I want is some kind of Adobe cleanup tool that will get rid of everything on my computer (Compaq/Vista Home Premium SP1) that has anything to do with Adobe. Will Adobe provide this? I've used one from McAfee before. Help!

Unfortunately there is no such cleanup tool from Adobe; I wish there were one.
What I would try in your situation
*Remove Adobe Reader with the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility
    *Reinstall Adobe Reader 9
    *Uninstall Adobe AIR & Acrobat.com
    *Uninstall Adobe Reader 9
    *Install Adobe Reader 8.1.3
    *Uninstall Adobe Reader 8.1.3
At this point you should have nothing Adobe left on your disk or registry.
    *Reinstall Adobe Reader 9
Adobe Reader 9 without AIR & Acrobat.com can be downloaded from

  • How to stop Nitro file converter from altering all Adobe files

I recently wanted to convert a word document to PDF and downloaded a free version of the program Nitro but as the only free part of the downloaded program was to look at it as it then wanted me to purchase the full program before I could use it so I deleted from my computer. But before it finished uninstalling itself it altered all the Adobe files and documents I had on my computer also it now alters the file type of any Adobe file or document sent to me as an email attachment.  How can I stop it? would taking the manufacturer to court sort them out? If anyone has any ideas of how to prevent or alter what has happened send to email address [email protected]

    Hi Sara
To a point what you said to resolve the problem worked but what the Nitro programme did was convert all my Adobe documents and files into a pdf that can only be opened by a Word programme.  If I click on the icon which used to be an Adobe file which has now become a form of greyed out Word icon it automatically opens M/S Word but cannot read it as it’s a pdf file.
Do you know of any way I can convert them back to an adobe readable file?
    Many thanks
    David Hughes

  • Cannot open all adobe files?

Two adobe files created at the same time from the same program - I can open one and the other I can't.
I get the following error message: "Cannot create file: trial balance.pdf. Right-click the folder you want to create the file in, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check your permissions for the folder."
How can I fix this? I have downloaded adobe readerXI and it has made no difference?

You also receive these messages in Outlook?  To me, that sounds more like a problem of Outlook, not Adobe Reader.  In order to open an Outlook attachment, these attachments are first written to a temp folder, and it is this stage where the error occurs.
Can you download these attachments to your local disk first (using the Outlook 'Save Attachments' function), then open them from there?

  • Changing Icons on Adobe files.

I have over 2000 adobe files which consist of documents that have been archived, needs to be archived and some scanned but they all adobe files. What I need to do is to either to change the colors on the documents so I will need either 3 different icons or 3 different colors to highlight the document status for the files.
If I change the icon on the properties in Windows that changes all the PDF files on my computer so that does not solve my problem. And also I have 2000 files so what I would need is something that I can use by just using the Shift key to select the range of files that I need and changing them from there.

The solution I require probably will not be an Adobe solution but the problem I am presenting is with Adobe and I am assuming someone might have had the same experience as I have had.
At the moment the only other solution I have thought of is to add a star to the front of the file names but I am hoping to get a much more visible solution.

  • I HATE my new MACBOOK PRO, it will not let me open any PDF files and I downloaded the ADOBE READER three freaking times and it keeps saying that all the files are corrupt. I would rather have my 2008 Dell at this point. what is wrong with this thing

I HATE my new MACBOOK PRO, it will not let me open any PDF files and I downloaded the ADOBE READER three freaking times and it keeps saying that all the files are corrupt or damaged. I would rather have my 2008 Dell at this point. what is wrong with this thing

Perhaps the PDF files are corrupted.
Hit the command key and spacebar, a blue Spotlight in the upper right hand corner appears, now type Preview and press return on the Preview program.
Now you can try opening the PDF's from the file menu and see what's going on.
If they are corrupted, perhaps they are trojans from your Windows PC or gotten from a bad location online.
Download the free ClamXav and run a scan on the possibly infected folder.

  • How can I delete all the files in the Adobe CS4 Master Collection from my machine?

How can I delete all the files in the Adobe CS4 Master Collection from my machine. I have tried Control Panel but it will not do anything, there are no error messages, it is like as if it is ignoring my instruction. Why should it be so difficult to delete programs one does not want. Any ideas please.

I never use the Intel side, and have never partitioned the MacBook Pro.

I never use the Intel side,
Not understood, Intel make the processor that runs your Mac, there is no other 'side' to your Mac.
What Adobe application are you trying to open files with?

when you were install your cs3 you should have been prompted for you serial number.  were you?
if not, you probably didn't properly install cs3.  copying/migrating/moving etc is problematic.
if yes, did you see any error messages during installation?
if yes, attach a screenshot of the error message.
if not, check you install logs, Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC

  • I have uninstalled everything on my laptop, removed all my files to my external device and my laptop is still incredibly slow when opening any of the adobe applications, can anyone help please?

I have downloaded the adobe student suite and whenever I open any of the adobe applications my laptop is incredibly slow, I cannot use any other application at the same time and often have to force quit. I have taken all my files off my laptop and added to my external hardrive. Can anyone help please?

What about other non-Adobe programs on the machine - do they also run slowly?
What are your system specifications?  How do they match up to the system requirements for the software?
