Blue ball next to black triangle to the left of my  Life Stories Blog. 8-(

Should I be concerned?
In iWeb, there is a blue ball/circle to the left of the inverted black triangle that is next to my Life Stories Blog in my main site. There is no such blue ball/circle next to the 4th Down Blog in my 4th Down site.
This blue ball/circle is recent. I just now opened my iWeb program and there it is. A new addition, a surprise.
What's up with that blue ball/circle?
If it is a message, then what is it messaging me to do?
Lorna in Southern California
Edit:
I just remembered that I also have a RED dot on my iWeb icon in my Dock. I remembered that the red dot means that there is a Comment in one of the blog entries, so I did go there hours ago and read it (for the Rodney Clown Doll), but then subsequent to my reading the comment, the red dot on my iWeb icon in my Dock did NOT disappear.
I had other things to do so I quit iWeb. Now I am back and notice that in addition to that blue ball/circle, the red dot is still there and has not disappeared. Shouldn't the red dot go away after the comment has been read or at least after the program has been quitted?
And since both the red dot and the blue ball are connected to the Life Stories Blog, I think that something might be wrong with that blog.

Lorna,
Yeah I think something is wrong w/ the blog. I say
this because I posted that comment to the clown (I
don't like clowns they are spooky) and it didn't
take
the whole comment. Not much longer but it had
something funny in it about Monk.
jabberwock
If I highlight your comment and paste it somewhere
else, it shows up in full:
Now I don't mean to scare you....but you are a
clown and clowns are very very scary. Monk has it all
over you. Please stop scaring all the girls away.
Your friend,
Harley Quinn
I think the problem with Lorna's blog entry (just
that particular one) is that she has
manipulated/moved the entry area and the photo area
around and the entry area is much narrower than it is
supposed to be.
I left a comment. It is supposed to say:
Testing to see if this comment will be shown in full
from left to right because Lorna has made this space
skinny...
But it doesn't all show.
Jabberwock and Allyson -- thank you very much for finding this problem! Now I know not to manipulate that space too much. Sooooooo..... the space is too skinny. And I would like to make it wider so your comment shows, but am scared to, because sometimes when I have gone and moved things around, the DATE changed on me. I will go to see your comment now. Knowing me, I will fiddle with the skinny issue.
BTW: I agree that clowns are scary. Probably a lot of people feel this way, too. Think of recent villains.. many have been clowns. The clown in "It" was horrific for me.

  • I've connected my external monitor (LG) to my new Macbook Pro 15" laptop, using the adaptor for VGA...the display now has a large black bar along the left side.  No adjustment on the monitor will fix it, no "options" on System Prefs either...any ideas?

I've just purchased a new Macbook Pro, and connected it ot my external monitor (24" LG HD) using an Apple VGA adaptor.  The only resolution that looks good is the 1920 x 1080, but the image does not entirely fill the screen.  There is a large black gap on the left side of the screen now.  It worked fine with my "last generation" Macbook Pro...no adjustment on the monitor will help, and cannot find any System Setting in displays such as "options" or widescreen setting.  I've gone to the LG site, but no "Mac" related tech support issues come up...no forum here seems to deal with this particular issue either...any ideas?

I have the same thing but with a 23 inch HP, worked fine with my MBP 13 from 2009 but the 2011 2.4 i5 does the exact same thing as yours!
Very confused and hoping that some one else can help.

  • When I render my video I get a black bar on the left side of the screen

I just upgraded to FCS 2 and so far it's been a complete waste of money. I'm having nothing but problems with FCP, Compressor, and QMaster. I will just post my FCP problem here.
I've edited a weekly video podcast and everything looks great, until I render it and export it. When I render it, I get a constant, solid black bar on the far left of the video that takes up about 5% of the screen. My layers are definitely sized correctly to fill up the entire canvas, and they are all centered. I cannot figure out why I am getting this black bar or how to get rid of it without ditching the upgrade and going back to FCP5.1.
I have already tried completely uninstalling the FCS suite and reinstalling. No luck. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Thanks for the reply.
My original source material is in Apple Intermediate Codec, with 32-bit float audio and a variable frame rate. This has not been friendly to FCP, so I use Quicktime to convert it to Apple ProRes with 24-bit audio and 29.97 frame rate. This is what I import into FCP.
My sequence settings are set to the same specs as my source material. 854x480, square pixels, no field dominance, Apple ProRes compression.
The black bar on the left side of the screen shows up before I even export. It shows up when I render everything.
I am exporting with Quicktime Conversion to:
    MP4
    h.264 codec
    720x405
    1000 video bit rate
    Main Profile
    No cropping/filters or anything.
The ONLY thing I did different before upgrading to FCP6 was that I used Apple Intermediate Codec all the way through. I was told by an FCP instructor that writes and publishes all kinds of FCP training material that I should upgrade to FCP6 and use the Apple ProRes422 Codec instead, so that's what I'm trying to do.
I am going back to restart my project using Apple Intermediate Codec all the way through like I used to, but it will be awhile before I can tell if that solved the problem. Either way, I would like to be using the ProRes codec....
    Thoughts?

  • Black line to the left of redacted section

We have couple of users who, when they redact a section of a document (using Acrobat 8 Pro), display a thin black line on the left-hand side of the area that is redacted.  It doesn't happen every time and that is what is confusing me.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • How can I disable that ugly black menu to the left the screen?

I use "google" as my homepage and I do not like clutter either on my desktop or on my homepage.
How can I disable that black menu at the left of the home page?
Dell technicians have tried, but cannot eliminate it. Usually one is able to "hide" menus.

Google changed their homepage. They replaced the narrow black menu at the top of the screen and replaced it with the wider grey bar. When you click on the Google logo that black menu opens on the left side. Sorry I don't know how to close that menu, haven't seen that page myself, just read about that change yesterday.
Try a Google group for help with that. not a Firefox support issue. <br />
Another suggestion is to use the default Firefox homepage - '''about:home'''

  • I have a 1/2" gray/black line on the left of my screen. Sometimes blinks. How do I get rid of it?

I have a 1/2" gray/black bar on the left of my screen that blinks occasionally.  HOw can I get rid of it?

That suggests a GPU, display or display connection issue.  You will have to make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and have them examine the MBP.  They should be able to determine exactly what the problem is.  Take a picture of the display when this phenomenon occurs to show the technician in case you are unable to duplicate it.
    Ciao.

  • Black triangles in the dock

I notice there have been discussions regarding the change in the Leopard dock, leaving the black triangles behind and going to what I would call the "faint blue blob" under an application to let you know it is up and running. I can't see these blue blobs very well, but after a brief search found an application called Dock Delight 1.0 which you can download from Versiontracker here. This application allows you to put these black triangles back into play, although they are a bit smaller than I would like. But at least I can tell with a casual glance if an application is open. The other solution involved diddling around in the Terminal, something a bit risky for the average user.

    Greetings,
Unless you using a non-default graphics/resolution display or have a very busy and contrasty background, the little Blue dots should stick out quite well on a 20" iMac or even a Macbook.
I have a 20" machine and several others, but I use the default resolution and a fairly plain background. Like I say, I can quick scan the Dock and at an instant, I know what is running.
Most 3rd party stuff often cause other issues - I try to avoid any of that sort of enhancement.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • My macbook unibody screen has vertical black triangles on the bottom of the screen. Does anyone know if this is fixable, or do I need to purchase a new screen?

Recently, I started my computer and black triangles appeared on the bottom of my Macbook unibody screen.  I restarted several times (tried the command + option + p + r trick). Does anyone know what could be wrong?

It can be fixed by Apple, some authorized Apple repair shops, or third-party repair shops.
Apple actually replaces your iPod with a refurbished iPod and the price will depend on what model you have. Others will repair your iPod and the prices tend to be lower.
Apple prices are here: Service Answer Center - iPod

  • Light blue dot next to Sound icon on the Menu Bar

Today I noticed that a light blue dot is neary attached to the Sound icon on Mavericks' Menu Bar.  It may have been there from the time I upgraded but I just noticed it today.  Anyone know what that indicates?

Or turn off 'Transucent menu bar' in System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver > Desktop.

  • HT4623 What is "Next, connect iPad. In the left column under Devices, click on your iPad." Where is 'Devices'? Under what left column?

I have a problem with some emails not downloading completely. The button to download remaining email does not work, nothing more is downloaded.i was directed to use the ipad assistant. One of the steps is to check for software updates. Within that step it says what I wrote in the question. I can't find a place that has a devices button anywhere. Can anyone tell me where that is? BTW, restarting the mail app followed by a hard reboot did not solve the mail problem.

I owe you an apology for not reading the original question more thoroughly, but as soon as I saw you mention the Software Updates and the Devices button, my thoughts immediately turned to iTunes on the computer. Now I know why I thought that you didn't understand what was going on.
As tonefox said, iTunes is integrated into the iOS on iPads, iPods and iPhones. You cannot upgrade it on your own. Those upgrades occur when Apple releases another iOS update and you install that update. If you are running iOS 6.1.3, that is the most current version you can have and therefore, you have the most up to date version of iTunes on the iPad.
The iPad assistant that the Community Specialist referred you to, talks about restoring the iOS software on the iPad in the last step of that troubleshooting guide. That is where you are getting the information about connecting the iPad, finding the Devices heading, etc. That is what I thought that you were actually trying to do - restore the iOS software to see if that would solve the problem and therein lies the confusion.
Getting back to why your emails will not load all of the time, I was hoping that quitting the mail app and rebooting would solve that problem. It works so often and I assumed that it work here, but it didn't.
Sometime it helps if you delete the email account and start all over again. Sometimes it helps if you turn the account off, restart the iPad and then turn the account on again - Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Tap your email account>Account>Mail>Off.
Once again, I apologize. You are frustrated enough, I'm sure, and I don't mean to add to your problems with bad incorrect advice.

  • When I was typing an email on my iPad, I hit something (???) on the screen which made the paragraph turn blue with a vertical line  being added  down the left hand boundary  of the paragraph ! How do I get it to revert to being black type with no line ?

When I was typing an email on my iPad, I hit some part of the screen (not sure which part !)which made the type in the paragraph I was writing turn blue, and a vertical line appeared down the left hand boundary of the paragraph ! How do I get rid of the blue type and blue vertical line ?

A single tap of the blue does nothing ! A double tap offers copy, define, select all.

  • Why does Firefox show a little triangle in the form field ?

I setup a form and my client wants rounded corners and a background-image for the fields.
It looks well in IE, but with Firefox i get a little white triangle in the left bottom corner of the fields.
I looked at all the CSS for the field for conflicting settings, but could not find any.
Can you help me with this ?

It looks that there is some problem with the CSS code for the bottom of those fields and that the bottom right corner is shown in that position.
Maybe you can post a minimized code example that shows this issue.

  • Bug - View changes to grid when expanding a collection in the left pane.

Tried submitting this via the bug report form but got java errors. Sigh...
This seemed like the best alternative.
    ******BUG******
    Concise problem statement:
View changes to grid when expanding a collection in the left pane.
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. Goto Library Module
    2. Ensure there is a collection with at least one child - if not create one.
    3. Make sure the collection is collapsed (you cant see the child and you see a right pointing triangle to the left of the collection name)
    4. Change to Loupe view
    5. Click the right pointing triangle next to the parent collection you just created to expand it.
    Actual Results:
    View changes to grid
    Expected results:
View should remain unchanged - in this case Loupe view.

The first is that I can't view the aperture library anymore directly from iphoto.
THat is exceeding strange since iPhoto '08 could not open or share an Aperture library - that ability was first introduced in iPhoto '11 - with the latest version of iPhoto and or Aperture you can open the same library with either application - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5043
In the current version of iPhoto the photos are sorted by date in the film strip - I've not recently done a calendar so do not remember the specifics -
