Blue Box Question Marks  Since Installing Router

Hello,
Since installing a new Dlink 655 router, I have not been able to view my favorite websites. Most pictures are just blue boxes. A lot of pages won't come up in safari. I have tried to upgrade adobe and fix my permissions, but really haven't had much luck. Any ideas would be great!

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
If you are running 10.5.4 as your profile indicates, you need to bring system software up to date to 10.5.8. Use the v10.5.8 Combo Update
Regarding Adobe Flash. You need to uninstall the old version then reinstall new but make sure you update to 10.5.8 first.
Uninstall Flash
Install Flash
Then repair disk permissions...
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
Relaunch Safari.

on some websites the images does not show, instead it just shows blue box question marks. I'm using a macbook air with Yosemite 10.10.1 and Safari 8.0.2. What can I do to make it show the pictures?

The server hosting the images may not be available.

  • What are these blue box question marks?

What are these blue box question marks appearing on some websites?
They seem to not appear on every website I visit, only some.
I have tried several troubleshooting steps.
    -I reset cache.
    -I changed text encoding.
-I checked bos to always display images.
-I went to "develop" and opened in every other browser.
-I updated my adobe flash player.
    What else can I do?
    It is so annoying!
    I am running Safari 8.0.
    Thank you!

  • Blue Boxed Question Marks In Safari...HELP

    Hey Guys,
Just messing around with iWeb and created a quick site at:
    http://web.mac.com/tjmerwanji
I've noticed these blue boxes with a question mark in them in numerous areas, in place of some pictures or sometimes just randomly
Looked through the forums about text encoding and it didn't work or I'm doing it wrong
Just published normally to .Mac using iWeb,
    Really need help!
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
I'm using the black template (i think), and I tried to add the "Add Comment" function. The i republished, and now i get is the '@post" where "add comment" should be....
Also on my blog entry page all the link functions ie. a link, Email Me, Read More, Add Comment...all appear as blue square with questions marks. But if you click on the blue squares the links do work and it takes you through to the page you want. All images etc are still there, it's just the links that have the questions marks.

If anyone has any suggestions other than just sitting it out and see if Mac sort it, it'd be great to hear.

  • Blue boxed question marks on photos after publishing?

All of my photos have white question marks in blue boxes when I publish my site to my FTP server. I've read where this is caused by pictures not being linked properly, but I have re-linked and have left the location of the photo file unchanged, to no avail. I've contacted Yahoo (my provider), also to no avail. I have not fully published my site to my domain yet due to this, but this is the URL of my temp domain:
    http://nashvilleleader.com.p8.hostingprod.com/Nashville_Leader/Home.html
Any help would be greatly appreciate. Thanks!

The files haven't been uploaded. Take a look at the Activity for your home page, Option-Command-A, to see the URLs of the missing files.
Look HERE to see the directory and note that the files aren't there.
How are you uploading the files - iWeb FTP, an FTP app or Yahoo file manager?
Good luck with getting help from Yahoo - their tech support is the bottom of the barrel.

  • Embedded images replaced with blue square/question mark

    Guys,
Am new to Macs so it's probably user error however, I regularly receive mails with embedding images in them. On my PC I had they came in fine however on my new Mac all the images get stripped out of the e-mail and saved as attachments. This means all the image place holders in the mail show as small blue squares with a white question mark in them and doing quick look on the attachments shows the correct images!
Is there a config setting that stops mail stripping the images off as attachments when they're "in" an e-mail??
Hope someone can help as this is bugging me now!!
    Thanks,
    Mark

Don't know if this suggestion will help but..........
I experienced problems with attaching images to outgoing mail. When I did this with my new iMac (OSX 10.4.11) the attached files were replaced with a blue square containing a question mark.
I browsed various forums and found quite a few references to the same problem and I tried all the various 'fixes' to no avail.
Earlier today I called Apple's tech support and spoke with Mujahid. He went through the problem, established that it was 'system wide' on my iMac and then he suggested that I trash Mail (v2.1.2) and re-install Mail (only Mail) from the disks that came with my Mac. I followed his instructions and after a shut down/restart cycle, Mail now functions correctly. When I attach an image file to an outgoing email, the file no longer appears as a blue square with ? mark but as the original image.
I wonder if the same sort of fix might resolve the problems with Safari?
    Thanks to Mujahid.
    Regards.

  • Blue lego question marks in Apple Mail

After upgrading to SL, all attachment icons in Mail show up as blue lego bricks with question marks. The files can be saved and opened from the downloads folder -- quicklook also works -- so the attachments are in tact -- just no icons. It is interesting that this affects only one of the users on this machine -- mail for the other user functions normally.

Problem solved. Will document here for anyone else who runs into this issue:
So I recently visited a website with a java applet and got the error "Java unavailable or not installed" along with a *blue lego brick with a question mark*. But I was not getting this message for other users on the same machine. So I checked the Java prefs and noticed that only Java SE 6 32-bit was checked (not sure how this could be, but I have mucked around with my Java prefs in the past...). Clicked "Restore Defaults" which checked off both 64 and 32 bit versions and restarted my browser. This solved the "Java Unavailable" problem *and also solved the mail attachment problem reported above.* So I guess somewhere under the hood in Mail, there is a Java dependancy.

  • Question mark + MacOsX install disc +

    I have some iMac G3 600, 256 ram,
Somehow when I tried to update 10.3.1 something went wrong.
I connected it to my eMac 1.42 MacOsX 10.4.7, first I tried to repair it using Disk Utility, it started to clicking....then I turn it off.
Then I erased the iMac G3 (connected via Ethernet).
Then I put in the Install disk 1, booted using C key, but I only get a question mark.
    I need help please,
    Thank you

    Hi PanchoLopez!
Why are you connecting to the eMac, to install 10.3.x, on the iMac?
Do the Panther install disks look like THESE?

  • Flashing question mark & lost install disc

Our IMac has a flashing question mark for over a year and I cannot find the install disk to try and repair it. The computer is no longer under warranty, was purchased in 2006 and was wondering how I would be able to get ahold of a new install disk. Could I just purchase a newer disk like leopard (an upgrade) to repair the computer? (would this even work?) or if I took it to the apple store would i be charged an arm and leg for having no warranty? would it be best to take it to an apple store or would geek squad be able to help? (would have to drive over an hour to an apple store, 10 mins to a best buy)

    HI,
You can get replacement System Install & Restore CD/DVDs from Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 - for a nominal S&H fee. They will ask for the model and serial number.
A flashing question mark on startup can mean several things. One the startup disk is failing, or failed, or your Mac can't find a system folder to boot from.
Try booting while holding down the Option key. Normally that will prompt the Startup Manager window, you would select your startup disk and click Restart.
If that doesn't work, try booting in Safe Mode
    What is Safe Mode
As for Leopard, your Mac would have to meet the Mac OS X Leopard minimum requirements as stated here. http://support.apple.com/kb/SP517

  • Flashing question mark/software install disc problem

    Hello,
I'm getting the flashing question mark at reboot. I've followed these steps:
    a. Insert the Software Install disc that came with your Mac.
    b. Restart the computer and immediately press and hold the C key to start up from the disc.
    c. When you see the Installer screen, choose Open Disk Utility from the Installer menu.
    d. Select your hard disk volume in the left pane, click the First Aid tab, and then click Repair Disk.
    e. When it's finished, restart your computer.
HOWEVER, when I restart my computer it STILL reads/loads from the install disc (as opposed to just booting from my hard drive). It's like a endless loop I can't get out of. Am I doing something wrong?
    Any suggestions?
    - Davey

Here's Apple doc.#106178 on Startup Manager.
Or restart while holding down the "X" key to bring you to your OS.
    Cheers!

  • Nothing fixes "missing plugin" or missing pics (replaced with blue square/question mark). I've tried all the suggestions!

I have been looking months for a solution to the "missing plugin" and missing attachments (replaced by blue square and question mark). Yes, I have "display remote images" checked. Yes, I have clicked on "default" for Java preferences. There is only one set of preferences and one "Default" button in my Java Pref folder. I have downloaded and reinstalled Java, which didn't change anything. I have deleted Apple.Mail.plist. This didn't fix it. I have repaired disk permissions. This didn't fix it either. I have tried everything but reinstalling Mail. Can anyone provide a permanent fix for this problem?
Also, Mail keeps asking for my passwords for all accounts!
This is my second iMac (27" i5) and it has not been a good experience - very strange behavior. HD is very noisy, won't stay asleep, can't wake up when it is asleep - have to restart and magic mouse won't stay connected.

move all and every icons to the app bar and then reboot it

  • Credit due: 1tv box not working since install, will not pay for this 3weeks+?

finally had time to try troubleshoot tonight msg states: 'something is not quite right' after rebooting. Before this the msg was 'please give us a moment' last few times i tried over past few weeks I would get this, and no time to deal with having to troubleshoot and call......so could not use this box/tv. also screen would start program display then freeze and no functions worked - could not start it or change channel
other main box works most of time - however it takes up to15 minutes at times to start up! acceptable! also sometimes the Tv just goes blankand have to turn off and on again. - again - should not have to pay for sporadic service,
have received sev'l variation of msgs - now getting 'Please give us a moment' this is ridiculous. I expect to be able to watch wheni turn eqmnt on, instead i have to spend the little time i have on troubleshooting, contacting Comcast, explaining the problem....typing this message..
Please credit me for service since date this eqpt was installed and do not charge me a dime until it is fixed,
    thanks

I have spoken to the support team again this afternoon. They have told me it is with 2nd level support (???) and that the issue is different to what it was upon installation (even though what they described was exactly the same!!). The engineer due to visit me is a home engineer who will need to work on the connection in my house. Can anyone confirm that by this they mean someone will come and check the setup of the hub? What else can a home engineer do to resolve? It makes no sense whatsoever... they just seem unwilling to listen to me and follow their on screen instructions. Awful customer service.

  • Audio problems since installing router

Just installed a WRT300N and anytime I'm connected to the internet and attempt to play any kind of audio (MP3s, games, videos, etc.) I get a some choppiness every minute or so. It's like it stutters. I disconnected from the wireless network and the audio is fine.
Anyone else have this problem, or possible solutions. Called up customer service and they told me that I need to buy Wireless Media Bridge. After telling them that I wasn't trying to install any programs, but rather listen to music on Windows Media Player, they told me again, that I need to buy WMB.

    HI...
As the audio is chopping try making the following changes on your router.
On the computer connected to the router open Internet Explorer. In the address bar type http://192.168.1.1 (Default IP).
Leave the username field blank and in the password type "admin" (If you have not changed the router password).
When the configuration page is fully loaded, click on the tab that says Wireless.Set the mode as mixed, change the wireless network name SSID, also set the channel to 11. Save setting.
When the wireless page is fully displayed, clickon the sub-tab that says wireless security.select the security mode as WPA2 Personal and Encryption as AES. Enter a security key. Save settings
Click on  the sub tab that says advanced wireless settings.
Set the value of Beacon interval = 50, Fragmentation Threshold = 2306 and RTS Threshold= 2307. Save settings.
Connect from the wireless computers to  the new wireless network connected, enter the correct security key and you should get connected.
Make sure that all the firewalls on the wireless computers are disabled.

  • I keep getting the little blue box with the question mark

    Hi
I have 10.6.7 system software and my safari is 5.0.4
I have called apple twice with this problem already but nothing has helped except for short times.
I have reset safari about one dozen times and when I do I reset the top 7 items and I've emptied the cache in addition just in case. I've also taken my safari preference plist out of my library and trashed it.
And I've run disk utilities many times and restarted my computer. Each thing I do will solve the problem for a short time, even up to a day or more (or less) but then it comes back. For instance on Facebook maybe 1/8th of the thumbnail images have the little blue boxes with the question marks but most don't. I can't figure it out. Sometimes even the iPAD safari gets them too but my firefox doesn't show them and neither does Safari on my eMac.
Yesterday the question marks even showed up in ONE mailing on all 3 computers with the question marks in the blue boxes (meaning my iMac, my eMac and my iPad) but then it just all resolved after a few hours. This does sound like possibly a server problem except today it's happening (in Safari again) only on this iMac in Safari (not firefox) and not on the other two devices.
One more thing, since they changed my radio on the roof for my wireless internet, the 5.8 phone cuts out the internet when I use it. The problem has gotten worse since they changed the radio to the same frequency as the phone, it's a much faster service than the 2.4 radio. I don't know if this is related or not.
    Thank you,
    Martha

    <Contact your ISP.
Is it possible, Carolyn, that this would mainly and almost always be only affecting the iMac and Safari in the iMac if it were a server issue? Right now Safari has more blue boxes with question marks than ever and the eMac and iPad have none. Firefox on the iMac has none also.
I should try a direct connection and by pass the router and see if that makes a difference.
I will contact them tomorrow but I want to get clear in my head first all the facts and possibilities.
    Thanks!
    Martha
