Blue boxes for images in new Stationary

When I create a new mail message and save it as stationary all the stationary has in it is the text and blue boxes with question marks for all the images?
What am I doing wrong?

this is a known bug introduced by safari 3 update. until Apple fixes you can use the workaround described in this thread

• The little icons to the left of website names (such as the little white 'f' in a blue box for Facebook) on my list of Bookmarks have disappeared so that I now only have the names themselves, which makes it harder to navigate.

Normally, when I click on Bookmarks at the top of my screen, the list of websites that comes up includes a little icon to the left of each bookmark. Now I only get a list. No icons. What has happened to the little four-colored flag for Hotmail, the 'f' in a blue box for facebook, and all the rest? It's now much harder to navigate.

Problem solved. Brilliant! Thanks.

• Blue box around image link

I seem to get this obnoxious blue box around all image links
I create in Dreamweaver cs3. Has anyone experienced this and if so
how do I get rid of that bugger

>I am very new to this, but the way I got round this
problem was to add
>border="0" after the height="xx" for that image.
That'll work but it requires border="0" to be individually
added to every
single which is a link in every single page on
your site.
The method suggested by Alec is created just the once and
applies
automatically to every single which is a link on
every page both now
and into the future i.e. nil maintenance.
I know which I prefer :-)

• Have a form but don't want users to see blue boxes for form fields.

Is there a way to set form fields so the blue boxes don't show when they open the PDF but the field remain active? When I save and open it on my computer, I don't see the fields. However, when I send it as an attachment, others see the fields. Does it matter if the user has Adobe Reader vs. Adobe Acrobat?

This is a setting of the application, whether or not to have form fields
highlight, not of your file.

• In newsletters, text is shown with url's for images. New since summer

Beginning in summer 2014, newsletters received are not shown in original form. It is a series of text and long links to images. How do I get the whole thing. Some sender do not provide a link to get a .pdf version.

When you receive an email, there may be a strip across the top of the message which says "To protect your privacy, Thunderbird has blocked remote content in this message" and has a box to select 'Preferences'. One of the choices will be to allow only for that message; another will be to allow for the sender's email address. I don't recommend setting preferences to allow remote content from everyone, as it may cause you problems with spam emails.

• Creating placeholder boxes for images?

I'm trying to work on a newsletter idea for someone, but I'm running into a small, but big issue with Pages. In InDesign, I can create an image box, size it, then place the image later. Have I missed something, or does Pages lack this capability? I'm currently working with '09, so it might have been added in a later version, but since this is the only thing I'm using it for, I don't want to buy the next version unless I absolutely have to.

Yes, you can create image placeholders. If you look at the included templates, almost every image is a placeholder. Insert an image, any image, in your document & then select it & resize it if you want. Now go to Format > Advanced > Define as Media Placeholder. You can then drag & drop any image which will be resized to fit.

• Podcasts & Movies - No 'blue dot' for marking as new

Now that I've updated to 7.6, whenever I mark a movie or podcast as new again, using the contextual menu, the blue dot doesn't show back up next to the title.
The 'blue dot' works though for my TV Shows. It's just movies and podcasts that the blue dot doesn't show up.
Any ideas anyone?

Yeah. I've repaired permissions both manually and by my monthly Cocktail run, but it still does it. I have downloaded a few 3rd party apps but it's hard to say which ones I've downloaded recently coincide with the problems I've been having. I don't rule that possibility out - thanks for the suggestion.
I wonder if it has something to do with my recent purchase of a new iPod Touch (32gb) though. I've been putting a lot more video in my iTunes since I bought the iPod so that I can watch them and iTunes hasn't been liking that at all. In fact, when I try to open a video (TV Show) in iTunes it's a 50/50 shot that it will freeze my whole computer. Sometimes it does, and sometimes iTunes just pauses for about 10sec before starting to play the video.
The videos sync and play beautifully on the iPod but iTunes doesn't like them at all. Could this have something to do with it?

• When I open my video inspector, the box for image stabilization and shutter roll does not appear. How do I get it to appear?

When I open my video inspector and I click the Video button, no options for stabilization and rolling shutter appear. Is there any way that I can get them to appear, so that I might use these tools?

Tom,
Many thanks for replying so soon. Actually, I think I've solved my little conundrum. I was selecting all of my clips in the timeline with the hope of running both functions. I found that when I only selected one clip at a time, that the two options would appear and that I could select them.
Again, Tom, thank you.
Cheers,
Rob

• Blue box with Question Mark instead of Images on App Store

I googled and only found users with same problem on browsers, or forums. I on the other hand has gotten this on the app store itself. Was working fine a minute ago and when I relaunched app store i had several images with the blue box. I uninstalled garage band and then this happened, could that be the cause? I really dont need garage band, I dont want to reinstall it just to fix the blue box/missing images issue.
pls see screenshot:

Thanks! lol, seems silly now i had to post here when all i had to do was close and relaunch... sorry for wasting your time. thanks to those who answered.

• Why a white ? in a Blue Box?

I have using the Apple Support Communities daily for quite some time, yet Today I now see the famous white question mark in a Blue box for three out of four Apple Pay logos - what changed? It always worries me when a major web site appears different.

• Safari Image turns to Tiny Blue Box with Question Mark

Hi all,
I get tiny blue question mark a lot in Safari.
Many Website where i visit almost everyday, the images appear as "tiny blue box with question marks". My Firefox also fails to load the images and had the same problem with "tiny blue box with question marks". Before every site work fine. I have been searching through Google and many others search for almost 12 hrs for a solution to solve this problem but none of it really works out. Basically, I have tried everything, I just can't find and still not able to fix this issue in Safari and Firefox.
Is this a Safari 3.0.4/Firefox 2.0.0.9 problem, or is there some setting on my Mac wrong or is it a new virus recently?
If anyone has any solution to solve this problem, an very much appreciated...
CK Lee (From Thailand)

Hi guys, I am also in Bangkok and working (I use the term loosely) with True. Like you, the images have not been loading over the weekend and I have been trying to track this down. I went through all the motions of restarting, clearing caches, etc., but that was no good.
On Saturday morning, I went into my office where I have access to another network (I don't usually use it as it is a bit flaky), but when I tried that, the images did load.
Back at home, I tried again and the blue squares reappeared. I checked some of my own web pages which also had the squares, but only selectively (images in the same directory were OK; those that were accessed via internal links were not). Using FTP I checked the website: images were all OK as were the links on the pages themselves.
As an experiment, I uploaded one image. When I tried the page again, the image appeared. I then uploaded both of the affected directories and the pages were back to normal after a couple of reloads. What this indicates to me is that the cache, either at True or upstream, has a problem.
I do think however that it is True as the other server I used would also access the CAT caches and they seemed OK.
A series of notes to the True helpdesk might jolt them into some action on Monday morning after they have had their starter coffee. I have had some success in the past with [email protected]
All the best.

• I have a macbook pro and have just updated my itunes to the 10.5, it has been sitting on the 'software update' box for 2 and a half hours and only has about 3mm of space left that is not blue. Is it normal to take this long downloading this update? Help!

I have been sitting looking at the blue line almost finished for over 2 hours. It says Writing files... underneath and Installing 11 items above the blue box. What should i do? Is there a problem or is it just taking a long time?? Im trying to set up my new iphone 4S but cant until this itunes is updated!
Please help.
Cheers
Meg

You have 10.6 on that machine, I suggest you stick with it for performance, third party hardware and software reasons as long as possible.
Consider 10.8 (not 10.7) when it's released, because 10.7 and 10.8 will require a new investment in software and newer third party hardware as it requires newer drivers the old machines won't have. (forced upgrade because of software, really nice of them)

Far as your Safari problem do these things until it's resolved:
1: Software Update fully under the Apple menu.
2: Check the status of your plug-ins and update (works for all browsers) also install Firefox and see if your problems continue. You should always have at least two browsers on the machine just in case one fails.

3: Install Safari again from Apple's web site

4: Run through this list of fixes, stopping with #16 and report back before doing #17

• ?in blue box instead of images

Images within text not appearing on some websites. Only ? in blue box appears. Same thing in Chrome and Firefox.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

• I did re-set my password and when I click on Install for Mavericks, I still get a box for "administrator password" and it still won't accept my new password. Is there a difference between my Apple ID and the administrator password they're asking for?

I downloaded Mavericks and it won't install. I did re-set my password and when I click on Install for Mavericks, I still get a box for "administrator password" and it still won't accept my new password. Is there a difference between my Apple ID and the administrator password they're asking for? I never had an administrator password-- I just hit enter and have never had a problem before with previous installations. I'm on an iMac, from 2007, running Mt. Lion (version 10.8.5). I've been looking for other's posts who may be having the same problem, but haven't found any. Can anyone help?

Ugh. The 'no password, no work' thing is a recent Apple development. I ran into it on my system and ended up having to do a clean install on a partition I fully erased.
I suppose, if you have the ability to, go online and look up how to burn a bootable DVD image. Download the 10.8.4 image then use the Disk Utility to make a boot image of it. You'll need a dual-layer DVD or a USB drive (or memory stick at least 8GB) If you've got an optical drive, burn the disk, if you've a USB device, use that.
Then get a pocket drive and copy your important files off the system or let Time Machine do a full backup.
When the backup is done, insert the disk and hold down the C key until the machine boots off of the DVD. At the point you get to the start window, go to the menu and choose the Disk Utility.
In the Disk Utility, reformat the drive. You go to the actual DRIVE (not the Macintosh HD, but the root above it that is the actual hard drive device)
I always do this and *partition* it into several volumes, the benefit being, you can store all of your music, documents and importans stuff on that secondary storage volume you make - it will have it's own index and then the first volume is where you put the OS and it will have it's own index as well. That way, if the OS throws a wobbler and you need to reinstall, you don't lose your data.
Depending on the size of your hard drive, it is good to give your OS partition at least 60GB and optimally 100GB, and the rest for storage.
Name your volumes, use the little box sliders to manually size them or put that number in the size window, select for the format, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and hit Apply and then the Disk Utility will quickly create your new partitions.
Once finished, quit the Utility and it will return you to the OS installer. Select the volume you want to install to and it should start up and install.
Once the installation is done, you'll get the new machine startup then you MUST put in a password for the computer. Once you're in, and to the desktop, don't bother with any Mountain Lion updates, go right to the App Store and get the Mavericks update and let it install the app to your Applicaitons folder, then do that install.
On a side note, there MAY be a way to make a disk image from the Mavericks application and avoid the entire Mountain Lion step.. I honestly do not know, but a bit of hitting the search engines may find out if there is. I think that if you looked for "make Mavericks boot disk or boot image' you may find something.
Good luck!
