Blue dot in front of a few tv shows.

I converted a bunch of tv shows the same way and a few do not have a blue dot in front of them. When i tried to move them over to my ipod, i had 13 errors and I have 13 that do not have the blue dot. What does this mean. they are not podcast episodes and they play fine in iTunes. I have had this happen a few times lately. Any help would be appreciated.

Please understand I am a frustrated customer like you, , but the availability of movies that have been shown before is dependant on licencing from the rights owners. Sky quite rightly have to pay the film studios for the ability to show to Sky's customers. As I understand it they purchase the right for a period of time, hence when the right expires then it has to be removed. The costing of the movies does reflect on the anticipated popularity of the programme, hence an older less popular movie might seem expensive but if not many people watch and pay that would be right. The apparent silliness of having movies in the store and on demand, allows those people who do not have a movie subscription to rent the movie on a one off basis. I agree that Sky seem to be licencing some programmes for shorter periods and it really upsets me when movies appear in buy and keep but not available to rent only. I recently queried Sky about Fortitude being available in OnDemand until 2022!, then of course found out that Sky owns the rights of the series. I can only say be careful if you are a movies subscriber and wish to watch a movie, not to select the Sky Store version if it is available in the Movies on Demand section. I recently wanted to watch a film that I found in Sky store at a cost, and just to be sure I searched for it and found it was to be shown on Channel 4 in a few days. I don't think we'll ever understand how such decision are made as to how long they licence movies for and how the charging model works with the film studios. Logically you would think that a smallish fee to have available indefinately and to pay the studio fee based on the number of rentals would be better, but that might be difficult to administer and Sky would have to have extra server storage fees, which they outsource. Why does my mail have blue dots and won't open? My Internet is okay.

If you can't open the messages or send emails, you can try quitting the mail app completely as well.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Tap the screen above the task bar.
Then go back and try mail again.

System Crashes after Blue Dots

It's mainly light blue dots that sometimes appear in small parts of contrast, like for example along the shadow of a window or something. Then if time goes by the blue dots become so many that they're all over my screen. They start creeping all over until my computer malfunctions, vertical lines of either blue or yellow appear and start flashing and kind of going from left and right like a meter would measure volume. Then my mouse stops moving, and shortly thereafter my system crashes!
It happens a few times a day. I've tried fsck and Disk Utility but it doesn't fix it. I know its not my OS because i recently changed from 10.2.8. to 10.4.2. and the problem carried on. Could I have a virus?

IPhone 5 - on a website; how to select all without dragging blue dots?

I Would like to send a pasted copy of a website as an email. I know I can drag the blue dots but that is a hassle. How can I easily "select all"?
Using iPhone 5.
Not the most recent IOS if that makes difference.

The blue dots appear when you hold your finger down for a few seconds on a word. Instead, just tap the word, and there should be options, including Select and Select All.
It might be easier to tap the share button. In the row of button at the bottom of the screen in Safari, i.e. previous and next, new tab, etc; the middle icon is the share button. Choose Mail.

Blue dot?

I was having volume problems so the genius bar gave me a new phone. He wouldn't confirm whether it was new or a refurb. When he took it out of the box(not a box like the original came in)there was a small blue dot attached to the front by the home key. Anyone else seen this when they got a phone?

No but if you are worried about a refurb don't be.
Refurbs are sometimes better than new because they go through extensive tests to test for quality.
Edit: To add, any defective parts are replaced and also the warranty is the same for it as it is for a new one.

Unplayed TV Show's "blue dot"

Is there a way to get FR to recognize when a TV episode has or has not been played and put the blue dot next to the title? Like in the podcasts?
iTunes does this. Why not FR?

only the most recent version of itunes was able to do this so i think we will have to wait for an update to front row for this feature!

Podcasts & Movies - No 'blue dot' for marking as new

Now that I've updated to 7.6, whenever I mark a movie or podcast as new again, using the contextual menu, the blue dot doesn't show back up next to the title.
The 'blue dot' works though for my TV Shows. It's just movies and podcasts that the blue dot doesn't show up.
Any ideas anyone?

Yeah. I've repaired permissions both manually and by my monthly Cocktail run, but it still does it. I have downloaded a few 3rd party apps but it's hard to say which ones I've downloaded recently coincide with the problems I've been having. I don't rule that possibility out - thanks for the suggestion.
I wonder if it has something to do with my recent purchase of a new iPod Touch (32gb) though. I've been putting a lot more video in my iTunes since I bought the iPod so that I can watch them and iTunes hasn't been liking that at all. In fact, when I try to open a video (TV Show) in iTunes it's a 50/50 shot that it will freeze my whole computer. Sometimes it does, and sometimes iTunes just pauses for about 10sec before starting to play the video.
The videos sync and play beautifully on the iPod but iTunes doesn't like them at all. Could this have something to do with it?

I have a question about the calendar on the ipad2. I have multiple calendars in different colors. Some of the events are filled in with color. Others are just listed with a colored dot in front of the event. Any ideas why events ar showing up differently?

All you are seeing is the word space (from the spacebar).
Menu > View > Hide Invisibles you had Show Invisibles on.
When you are using a template it should be named "Untitled" and it will ask you to save when you go to close or you simply go to Save under the File menu.

Blue dot on Iphone 5 photos with direct sunlight in them

I do not understand how this is not on EVERY SINGLE forum and website for the iphone 5. I recently purchased a new iphone 5s after struggling with a lot of issues with my 4. I bought my 5s a week and a half ago and promptly began having tons of server errors, apps crashing, calls failed and on and on. I also discovered that there was a VERY BRIGHT BLUE dot that showed up on every single phone and video taken that had any amount of direct sunlight in it (say goodbye to beautiful sunset pictures).
I went back into apple and was told to restore, and then completely clear my phone. I did everything they asked and when everything failed and after literally hours and hours on the computer and in person with technicians, I went in for a replacement yesterday. After three hours in the apple store I walked out of the store with what I thought was a perfect new phone. I went onto the street and took a short video. And you know what--there was a BRIGHT BLUE DOT on the video. So I went BACK into the apple store for the 10th time. I spoke to a salesperson and he had no idea what I was talking about. I showed him the video and he was baffled. I then picked up the other iphones and began testing them out. Every SINGLE one had this bright blue dot on the image or video when pointed toward sunlight. Apparently there is something with the new glass of these cameras that cannot handle direct sunlight (which is ridiculous to me). The sales person went and spoke to the Apple Technitions that were "downstairs" and they acknowledged, this is just the way it is, the glass cannot handle direct sunlight.
So, I thought, OK, well, I guess I will have to stop taking photos of sunsets and directly into the sun through cityscapes etc....I will do my very best to make peace with this..However, last night, I was taking photos of some lights at night and a variation of this happened again except with tons of little blue lights flaring of the christmas lights I was taking photos of.
As a videographer and photographer, the new iphone camera was a serious draw and factor in my newest purchase. The fact that EVERY SINGLE ONE of these current phones on the sales floor seem to have the same faulty hardware with their cameras absolutely blows my mind. What use is fancy glass on a camera if it takes shots with bright blue dots right in the middle of every screen? I would REALLY like to get some feedback from apple on this note because I am hugely dissapointed with this phone and blown away that this issue has not been addressed formally.

Under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, deselect Sync Photos followed by a sync. This should remove all photos transferred from your Mac to the iPhone. Follow this by reselecting Sync Photos and confirming your selections below followed by a sync.
If no change after this, try targeting or deleting what is called the iPod Photo Cache on your computer.

In Apple Mail, my new messages are coming in without the blue dot, as if the messages have already been read. Why? Has my computer been compromised?

I did not use my laptop all day. This evening, when I looked at my new e-mail from earlier today, only about 3 messages still had the blue dot, that shows on unread mail. I watched new messages come in. One new one came in with the blue (unread) dot, then maybe when the next new message came in, the blue dot disappeared from the first message, but appeared on the new message. The 2 subsequent e-mails came in without any blue dot. I had not highlighted or opened any of those 4 new e-mails, or any of the previously delivered e-mails from today. I cannot find anything in system preferences or in mail preferences that addresses this issue. Anyone know why this is happening? Has my computer been breached or hacked?

Ok, so even thought no one has answered, it appears that once I move mail to the "On My Mac" mailboxes, they no longer exist on the server (though they can be moved back there if desired). Which means that I'm fine if I migrate my hosting to a new server, and redownload them, because the mail in "On My Mac" will be untouched. The only thing I don't know about is the "Sent" mail, but I believe those also exist on the server, and therefore if I migrate them then the link relationships are maintained (no idea about the mail that is "On My Mac" that has links to "Sent" mail in the server, but I guess that isn't so important).
As for keeping a completely syncronizable Mail application - the only way it appears I'd be able to do that is to forgo "On My Mac" entirely, and keep *all* mail on the server. If I want to move mail into different folders, those folders would have to be Server folders created for that account, and hosted by that hosting company. This actually doesn't seem like such a bad move, especially as we get further and further away from having only one device that we use to process Mail.
Are there any disadvantages to *not* using the local "On My Mac" folders? Are there any major advantages to using them?

View Gridlines - Table tool is blue dotted, need to change it to grey

We are migrating our application in such a way that the documents are getting printed in word 2007/word 2010. Earlier our application used word 2003 to print the document.
Earlier...
we used a template which holds tables, we have enable the gridlines of the tables to be visible (the gridlines were grey solid lines)
Now..
When we migrated to print the docs in word 2007/word 2010 the same table gridlines appears to be blue dotted lines. Is there any way to change the appearance of this property as it is in word 2003 ?
The name of the property in word 2007/10 is "View Gridlines".

Did you set the table borders to "None" and then enable the "View Gridlines"? If so, I think it's the default behavior of Word 2007/Word 2010. The gridlines is blue dotted lines in Word 2007/Word 2010 by default and we haven't found
a way to change this.
