Blue dots by tv shows..

when i look at the list of TV shows on my ipod there are blue dots beside some of the TV shows..what does that mean? Because now my ipod wont let me put a show on it.

The blue dots mean the shows are already viewed. In order to have those viewed shows upload onto your iPod, you'll need to tell iTunes that you want all episodes of the listed TV shows put onto your iPod, not just unwatched ones. How to do that:
When your iPod is plugged in, select the TV Shows tab from your iPod window. Change the drop-down menu to "all" instead of "unwatched". I ran into the same issue but figured it out by trial-and-error!

  • App Updates Blue Dot Badge not showing

Hi, in the past everytime i manually or automatically in the background my apps updated, i used to see a blue dot badge next to the apps which have just been updated but now i dont see these. Is anyone else having the same issue? i have tested this on 3 different devices and still i dont see the blue dot.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

  • Podcasts & Movies - No 'blue dot' for marking as new

Now that I've updated to 7.6, whenever I mark a movie or podcast as new again, using the contextual menu, the blue dot doesn't show back up next to the title.
The 'blue dot' works though for my TV Shows. It's just movies and podcasts that the blue dot doesn't show up.
    Any ideas anyone?

Yeah. I've repaired permissions both manually and by my monthly Cocktail run, but it still does it. I have downloaded a few 3rd party apps but it's hard to say which ones I've downloaded recently coincide with the problems I've been having. I don't rule that possibility out - thanks for the suggestion.
I wonder if it has something to do with my recent purchase of a new iPod Touch (32gb) though. I've been putting a lot more video in my iTunes since I bought the iPod so that I can watch them and iTunes hasn't been liking that at all. In fact, when I try to open a video (TV Show) in iTunes it's a 50/50 shot that it will freeze my whole computer. Sometimes it does, and sometimes iTunes just pauses for about 10sec before starting to play the video.
The videos sync and play beautifully on the iPod but iTunes doesn't like them at all. Could this have something to do with it?

  • Blue dot in front of a few tv shows.

I converted a bunch of tv shows the same way and a few do not have a blue dot in front of them. When i tried to move them over to my ipod, i had 13 errors and I have 13 that do not have the blue dot. What does this mean. they are not podcast episodes and they play fine in iTunes. I have had this happen a few times lately. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello,
The blue dot means you have not watched them yet.
I was wondering the same thing, but once i started a show the blue dot went away

  • Blue dots next to TV shows I HAVE SEEN - can I get rid of these?

I just updated to iTunes 7.1.1 and now many of my TV Shows have blue dots next to the episode numbers, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE SEEN THEM.
I can Reset Play Count, but this does not Clear the STUPID blue dots.
    How do I clear them?
( Note: If I Reset Play Count on other shows, a blue dot DOES NOT appear.)

There should be a Tool-Tip when you roll the cursor over the blue dot to say what the stupid thing is...
( What it is, is Mostly Wrong )

  • No blue dots to show unplayed podcasts on my nano and next podcast starts

Since updating the software I no longer have blue dots to show me unplayed podcasts plus the next podcast in the series starts automatically like an album which is not what I want. Can I fix this?

Look in iTUnes and make sure the podcast are listed under "Podcast" in the source list to the left. If they are set the iPod to either "Auto update all podcast" or "Auto update selected podcast" whichever you choose. Disconnect the iPod, reboot the PC. Reset the iPod by holding center and menu for about 6 to 10 sec. Once the iPod has been reset and PC rebooted, connect the iPod let iTunes open and see if it now updates the podcast to your iPod

  • No "new" tag on streamed shows ? (blue dot)

on my appletv, when I go to tv shows, unlike content saved on the AppleTV, content wich is streamed does not show the "new" blue dot next to the shows we have not seen yet, even so in itunes on the macbookpro they do have the "new" tag
    Any ideas ?
    Null

I too upgraded to the new 1.1 firmware on my AppleTV. Previously I was streaming Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, and Music. I had set my AppleTV up to sync only photos so that I could do a slideshow or use them for the screen saver.
I listen to hundreds of podcasts and I am quite behind and love the blue dot that appears next to the unplayed items on both my 5th gen iPod with Video and previously with my AppleTV.
After I upgraded to iTunes 7.3 (Windows) I read that we could now stream our photos. After the upgrade, I was only streaming my library and was very dissapointed to find that the blue dots that indicate unplayed items wasn't there anymore. After doing many searches on the internet, I figured out that all I have to do to get them working again was to set my AppleTV up to sync the photos again. Now I get all the blue dots next to my unplayed content.

    webweave,
    Welcome to the Apple discussions!
Generally, as discussed above, having 2 mount points for the same disk in the volumes folder won't prevent a successful backup. But in your case (#15!), that's a problem. More often than not, they are being created by Time Machine because you already have one or more instances of the Time Capsule disk mounted on your desktop. Ejecting the TC disk when it is not needed is the best way to avoid creating multiple mount points.
If you have any further questions, please post them in a new thread. You can refer back to this discussion with a link if necessary.
    Cheers!

  • Unplayed TV Show's "blue dot"

Is there a way to get FR to recognize when a TV episode has or has not been played and put the blue dot next to the title? Like in the podcasts?
iTunes does this. Why not FR?

only the most recent version of itunes was able to do this so i think we will have to wait for an update to front row for this feature!

  • Mail showing wird oval shapes instead of small blue dot?

    Hi all
I seem to be getting this weird huge oval shape on mac mail instead of a smallish blue dot, it's really annoying and I cant seem to get rid of it.

It's very difficult to answer several questions at once on a forum, Ulf. Is there any chance you could ask just one at a time?
As for your installation -- from your notes, it looks like you may have installed Premiere Elements on your E drive. If this is the case, it will not work. You must install the program on your C drive.
Also, if you can not see video of your capture, it is likely related to an out-of-date video driver. Have you gone to the ATI web site and downloaded the latest driver for your card?
If that doesn't work, you can always capture your HDV footage with HDVSplit, which is available here:
    http://strony.aster.pl/paviko/hdvsplit.htm
Also, be sure to go to the Premiere Elements Help menu and select Check for Updates. This will ensure you have the latest patch for the program, which resolves many of the challenges you're experiencing.
Finally, have you ensured that your video project is using the HDV project preset? One of the most important steps you can take in working with this program is to ensure that your project preset matches your source footage.

  • I have created a table on pages.  Somehow I have set something so a blue dot appears every time I press he space bar.  How did I do it? and how do I get rid of it?

two questions-- I have created a table on pages.  Somehow every time I press the space bar, I get a blue dot between words--How did I do it? and How do I get rid of it.  Also, I created a template on pages--How do I "save as" for a new file using that template?

All you are seeing is the word space (from the spacebar).
Menu > View > Hide Invisibles you had Show Invisibles on.
When you are using a template it should be named "Untitled" and it will ask you to save when you go to close or you simply go to Save under the File menu.

  • Blue dot on Iphone 5 photos with direct sunlight in them

I do not understand how this is not on EVERY SINGLE forum and website for the iphone 5. I recently purchased a new iphone 5s after struggling with a lot of issues with my 4.  I bought my 5s a week and a half ago and promptly began having tons of server errors, apps crashing, calls failed and on and on.  I also discovered that there was a VERY BRIGHT BLUE dot that showed up on every single phone and video taken that had any amount of direct sunlight in it (say goodbye to beautiful sunset pictures).
I went back into apple and was told to restore, and then completely clear my phone. I did everything they asked and when everything failed and after literally hours and hours on the computer and in person with technicians, I went in for a replacement yesterday. After three hours in the apple store I walked out of the store with what I thought was a perfect new phone.  I went onto the street and took a short video. And you know what--there was a BRIGHT BLUE DOT on the video.  So I went BACK into the apple store for the 10th time.  I spoke to a salesperson and he had no idea what I was talking about.  I showed him the video and he was baffled.  I then picked up the other iphones and began testing them out. Every SINGLE one had this bright blue dot on the image or video when pointed toward sunlight.  Apparently there is something with the new glass of these cameras that cannot handle direct sunlight (which is ridiculous to me). The sales person went and spoke to the Apple Technitions that were "downstairs" and they acknowledged, this is just the way it is, the glass cannot handle direct sunlight.
So, I thought, OK, well, I guess I will have to stop taking photos of sunsets and directly into the sun through cityscapes etc....I will do my very best to make peace with this..However, last night, I was taking photos of some lights at night and a variation of this happened again except with tons of little blue lights flaring of the christmas lights I was taking photos of.
As a videographer and photographer, the new iphone camera was a serious draw and factor in my newest purchase. The fact that EVERY SINGLE ONE of these current phones on the sales floor seem to have the same faulty hardware with their cameras absolutely blows my mind.  What use is fancy glass on a camera if it takes shots with bright blue dots right in the middle of every screen? I would REALLY like to get some feedback from apple on this note because I am hugely dissapointed with this phone and blown away that this issue has not been addressed formally.

Under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, deselect Sync Photos followed by a sync. This should remove all photos transferred from your Mac to the iPhone. Follow this by reselecting Sync Photos and confirming your selections below followed by a sync.
If no change after this, try targeting or deleting what is called the iPod Photo Cache on your computer.

  • In Apple Mail, my new messages are coming in without the blue dot, as if the messages have already been read.  Why?  Has my computer been compromised?

I did not use my laptop all day.  This evening, when I looked at my new e-mail from earlier today, only about 3 messages still had the blue dot, that shows on unread mail.  I watched new messages come in. One new one came in with the blue (unread) dot, then maybe when the next new message came in, the blue dot disappeared from the first message, but appeared on the new message.  The 2 subsequent e-mails came in without any blue dot.  I had not highlighted or opened any of those 4 new e-mails, or any of the previously delivered e-mails from today.  I cannot find anything in system preferences or in mail preferences that addresses this issue. Anyone know why this is happening?  Has my computer been breached or hacked?

Ok, so even thought no one has answered, it appears that once I move mail to the "On My Mac" mailboxes, they no longer exist on the server (though they can be moved back there if desired).  Which means that I'm fine if I migrate my hosting to a new server, and redownload them, because the mail in "On My Mac" will be untouched.  The only thing I don't know about is the "Sent" mail, but I believe those also exist on the server, and therefore if I migrate them then the link relationships are maintained (no idea about the mail that is "On My Mac" that has links to "Sent" mail in the server, but I guess that isn't so important).
As for keeping a completely syncronizable Mail application - the only way it appears I'd be able to do that is to forgo "On My Mac" entirely, and keep *all* mail on the server.  If I want to move mail into different folders, those folders would have to be Server folders created for that account, and hosted by that hosting company.  This actually doesn't seem like such a bad move, especially as we get further and further away from having only one device that we use to process Mail.
Are there any disadvantages to *not* using the local "On My Mac" folders?  Are there any major advantages to using them?

  • Blue dot arrow in box  VS  NO blue dot arrow in box. Explain, please!

    WHAT I SEE IN SAFARI:
Some pages have the "Return to Main Site Menu" text line IN A BOX, but some other pages have that text line NOT IN A BOX. Specifically:
"Photos — Past" has "Return to Site Menu" IN A BOX.
"Photos — Present" has "Return to Site Menu" NOT IN A BOX.
BUT WHAT I SEE IN IWEB: (First of all, in iWeb I formatted all of those R.T.M.S.M. text lines in a box because all text has to be surrounded by a box. Now then:)
    In iWeb, I see:
In the page "Photos — Past" the text line (R.T.M.S.M.) is inside a simple box with nothing else on the box.
But when I look at "Photos — Present," the box around the text line has a little curved white arrow in a BLUE dot at the bottom right of the text box.
So here is my ad hoc analytical equation (Remember it's AD HOC.)
Blue dot arrow in iWeb = No box surrounds text line in Safari
No blue dot arrow in iWeb = Box surrounds text line in Sarafi
    NOW THEN:
I understand the simple causal relationships, but what I would like to understand is:
    1. Beyond the absence or presence of a box around a text line in Safari, what is the difference between a box with a blue dot arrow and a box without a blue dot arrow? Beyond this visual difference in Safari, is there a functional difference which can come back and affect me later on in some way?
    2. What did I do differently in iWeb to create a blue dot arrow in some cases and no blue dot arrow in other cases? My memory does not record HOW I made a text line into a hyperlink! Holy smoke, that's a fine line! All I recall is that I selected the text line and hit the hyperlink button in the Link Inspector! Oh-- ok in the first cases I think I put the boxed text inside another box I created. In other words, a box inside another box, and then all of it selected for hyperlinkage. Oh... is that it? <gulp> But I don't remember which is which, and I would have to re-create it on a new practice page.
Thank you in advance for shedding any light on this, because it is REALLY bewildering me. Is it ONLY a matter of boxes around a text line? Or more?
    Lorna in Southern California

    James,
I am impressed with your easy, friendly and mostly, useful replies for many of us....well...newer types!
Your response here to Lorna has answered a question I had not yet formulated....you see...when I started to build my post-"Last Rites 35 Year Reunion" web site (an old age clue!...), I did not realize that when published, the little blue circles disappeared!!!...so... I have learned and continue to do so.
I have spent the past 3 months (in spare time...I work...) organizing the resultant photos from that two day reunion event.
iWeb started me on this path, and my site (http://web.mac.com/larrycook1/iWeb/Cooksite-1/Welcome.html) has many of the issues & challenges you and others have discussed and counselled over that time....unfortunately, I lose the 'threads' of help...so I apologize for interjecting here...I was not sure where I could get "in".
    1. The photos on my web are working ok.
    2. I have three slide shows created in (Apple) Keynote transposed into QT Pro (7) into .mov & dragged onto three separate web pages.
The first two, "Faces" & "Potpourri" pages show, but the audio wouldn't play so I had to drag in audio separately....then instruct people to push the two buttons to get the 'full monty" effect...a work around, since I have given up trying to solve it....and there is so much else to do in life...
I read your comments about isquint and created a Mp4 from the QT Pro movie...it looks ok in iWeb but ....now
I cannot get the iweb to publish...get error messages like 'can't save the media......movie'.
Since I am low tech...I cannot understand what is going on or how to fix this.
If I try to publish to a folder, will it replace what is in there now or will it just build up...it is not clear for me.
    3. I have no idea if purhaps I have too much memory in my site for the movies to be working properly....or am I corrupted?
All & any suggestions welcome. If the above have been answered elswhere, ... could you send me a link?
    thanks,
    Larry
