Blue line running through screen (T400 1440 x 900)

Hey guys,
So  my monitor has this blue line running straight through my monitor vertically. When I first got it, if I tapped my monitor on the side a bit, it would go away but then the line was permanent! I thought my screen was busted and started looking into a replacement screen. Now, suddenly, as I type the line flickers and it will go away so the monitor will be normal. But after some more typing the line will reappear. Now Im thinking the vibrations are affecting some sort of connection to the screen and the screen may not be bad. What do you guys think? Is it the monitor or a connection? If its a connection, what connection would it be?
Thanks,
John
P.S.
I took a picture of the screen right here. You guys can see the line that runs straight up and down in the middle of the picture

that is usually the problem with cable connection between motherboard or the LCD itself.
Also, try to connect to an external LCD, to see whether this problem comes up.

  • Blue line running through screen

I just got off the phone with Apple Care and have an appointment at the genius bar, but just in case someone here has an answer that will fix this without having to take my mac in to the store, I am asking.  It just started today.  Actually, this afternoon because I don't think I saw it this morning.  A thin blue vertical line almost from the top clear to the bottom about 2 or 3 inches from the right side of the screen appeared.  I swear I think if I didn't think that it would get worse I would live with it, but my thought was that it is a hardware problem and the tech at Applecare seemed to think so too.  We reset SMC and PRAM and no change.  If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.  I am afraid I will have to leave it and it is kind of scary how many things I use the computer for on a daily basis.
Thanks in advance if you can think of something.  and if not, I will get it fixed.  Fortunately it is still under Applecare.

(this isn't supposed to happen to my mac)

That's what I thought.  Its just such a pain.  I have a time machine backup and I also have an online backup service.  I have over 10,000 photos and about a year ago realized that an external backup is good, but wouldn't be if there were a fire or some other disaster.  Too many important family memories to risk, and I have also discovered that backups are really good when you delete and trash something you didn't want to.  But it is always a good thing to remind someone .  Its just amazing how many little things you realize you do on a computer from bill paying to library book renewing to just looking up information.  I will be glad when its fixed and back in its rightful home.

    Hello,
I bought my Toshiba A100-683 for a month ago.
The problem is that I sometimes see small grayish lines running through the LCD screen from the top the bottom.
This is are the type of lines u also see when u use your (phone) camera to make a movie of a monitor / lcd screen.
I don see them always and seem to appear randomly.
I've updated my video card drivers but this didn't solve the problem.
Is anyone familiar with this problem ?? Or knows an solution for it before i will send it for repair.

    Hi
I would recommend connecting it to the external monitor. If the small lines dont appear on the external connected monitor so I suppose the graphic card is ok and possibly only the FL inverter could has a malfunction.
Anyway, its no matter whats wrong because the warranty should be valid in your case and all replacements should be done for free.

My 30GB ipod classic has thick grey lines on the display screen. How do i get rid of them.?

  • Blue line runs across screen but Skype (and other Andoid apps) crashes and doesn't open

The headline says it all really. I was forced to restore to an earlier saved version after problems associated with contacts. Amongst the many issues now is the inability to run adroid apps, whether ported on not. Not happy. Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

Did you restore your phone with an OS of at least 10.2.1? Anything earlier than that will not run Android apps.
    Cheers.

  • Screen has lines running through it, is it worth replacing screen?

Screen has lines funning through it, is it worth replacing screen on 2009 iMac?

What do you mean by lines running through it?  There have been users with vertical lines, sometimes blue, or yellow, or pink, or combinations.  Those have all turned out to be a bad graphics unit chip that the Apple store techs were able to remove and replace without replacing the entire logic board.
Take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs test and advise on how to resolve this.

  • Why do I have a thin blue line running down the screen?

There is a thin blue line running vertically down my imac screen a little to the right of the centre. It disappeared for a while - i think after I tapped a certain key - but then re-appeared and will not go away. What is it? How do I get rid of it? Mark

Sounds like a problem with the display. Contact your local Apple Store or AASP and make an appointment to have the display looked at. > Apple - Support - iMac - Service FAQ

  • Ipad had colored lines running through the screen

My ipad first generation which i love now has colored lines running through the screen.  Can it be fixed?

    Howdy diana,
It sounds like your iPad has mulitcolored lines all over it. I would recommend a few things here to help isolate the issue to software or hardware. Try restarting the phone with this article:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue persists, I would next try reseting the device with the same article:
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
If the issue is not resolved, I would next backup your device to iTunes, and restore it as a new device to see if the lines are still there. If not then restore your backup and verify they are still gone.
iOS: How to back up and restore your content

If the lines are there even when setup as a new device, your iPad may need service:

    All the best,

  • Extra line running through the screen on my Officejet 6500 printer

I just noticed a second horizontal line running through the screen on my Officejet 6500 printer screen (right through where the ink levels show up.)  The screen resembles graph paper.  What causes this?  Is there something wrong with the machine?  Can something be done to correct it?

    Hi there,
A full factory reset may not be required. Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
    Best of Luck!

How can I turn off the 2 blue lines running vertically through my image in Photoshop? I want to save my work but do not know if these lines will persist in the saved image.

I assume the Rulers are showing. In that case, to get rid of each line use the Move tool to straddle the line and drag it whence it came. I really didn't need to add this comment but it is the first time in years I have had a chance to use the word "whence".

  • Blue lines down imac screen

I have an iMac4,1 with an Intel Core Duo processor, and on the right side of my screen I developed a blue line running from the top to bottom of my monitor. A couple months later, another line appeared right next to it. Does this mean my iMac is crashing? Can this be easily fixed?

The iMac 4,1 was made from Jan 2006 to Sep 2006 so it is five years old. At that age it's possible that a problem is developing in the on-board graphics card. The fact that it's an iMac means (1) it isn't easy to take it apart and (2) the graphics card isn't removable, it's part of the main circuit board. It may not be practical to fix it. Run the Apple Hardware Test as Carolyn suggested. Maybe it will find something less catastrophic that can be repaired inexpensively.

  • My ipod has lines running through it, what can I do

My ipod classic has lines running through the screen.  What can I do to fix it?

First and foremost: Try resetting the device. If that doesn't fix the problem, it could be a hardware issue. I would then suggest contacting Apple Technical Support or taking it to your local Genius bar at an Apple Store.

  • Ipod Nano 7th Generation with thin green, dark blue and light blue lines on the screen?

I have an Ipod Nano 7th Generation. It was brand new about a year ago, but roughly 5 months in the screen had a single dark blue line running down the screen, this has now developed into 4 light blue lines running horizontally and another green line running vertically.
I think it may be something to do with the pixels and the screen - something to do with the fact that they display red, green and blue colors?
I have restarted the ipod but to no avail. I have tried getting into the system settings as well but cannot seem to manage to access them.
    Any help?

Take it to the Apple Store to get it fixed.
